Thanks for b'day wishes guys.

cyb- yep! Mine has dry sense of humour too. He thinks blood pressure monitor is funny. I had last laugh though. MY is fine. HIS is a bit high!!!!

First Xmas we were together he got me chocolates and liquers and biscuits and a book called "Think yourself slim". And a book called "How to be a Brit". Funny man.

Themasterandmargaritas · 15/05/2010 09:52

Happy happy Birthday lovely Buda. I welled up at your little speech of yesterday. Have a lovely day.

SuSylvester · 15/05/2010 09:53

hb b!

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 15/05/2010 10:00

Happy biffday Buda

And welcome to new losers.

Am feeling motivated today- the sun is out and so are my legs (denim skirt - size 10!!!). Holiday skin applied. Might have a run later.

Sympathy mamag. I am convinced that sleep deprivation is one of the reasons it took me so long to get this baby weight off ("baby" is 5 but still gets in bed with us (and adopts thrashing starfish sleep position grr)at least 3x a week).

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 15/05/2010 10:02

Ooh and I need an orange cardi - not cropped but fitted-ish to wear over a dress for a night out (needs to be Luton Fc colours ). Typically the only one I've seen is Boden and £££. c £20 if poss! TIA

BettySuarez · 15/05/2010 10:04

Morning and Happy Birthday to Buda.

Thanks for all welcome messages too

Here's my weight and stats then (for cyp's spreadsheet

17.2 stone
5 foot 8 (and a half)
I am big boned

Trying to keep an eye on portion sizes from now on in and also drumming up the will power to avoid unhealthy snacking between meals. Will let you know how this goes!

For the last few weeks I have been trying to walk DS's into school every morning. It's an hour and a quarter round trip (slightly more brisk coming back as we can up the pace a little without the boys).

Haven't noticed any weight loss as a result but do feel a little fitter and more energised.

That's me then, first step.

Can't believe I have put my weight onto t'internet (or that I weight almost double what other on here do!)

bobbiewickham · 15/05/2010 10:04

Happy Birthday, Buda!

Biff out!

bobbiewickham · 15/05/2010 10:06

NomDePlume · 15/05/2010 12:11

Happy birthday Buda

FairhairedandFrustrated · 15/05/2010 12:14

I'm fairhaired, not frustrated anymore, but I'm stuck with the name now.

I started at 11st 11.5lb last January & am now 8st 13lb - with a target of 8st 7lb.

I went to a ball last night & the amount of compliments I got was amazing - I've never felt better!! And I think I looked OK too Wore a lovely Coast dress with silver sandals & a silver bag, never got off the dance floor the whole night! This time last year it would've bothered me to have got up at all!

Dinner was a set menu, however I merely tasted the creamy veg soup before swapping with dh's empty bowl! Then dinner was creamed pots (I had a little) with turkey, beef & stuffing & lots of veg. I refused gravy & didn't eat the roasties or creamy garlic potatoes. Dessert was a pastry basket of fresh fruit & ice-cream....I ate the fruit & give dh the pastry & ice-cream.

I did consume vast quantity of vino though... and some shot thing my bro-in-law made me do with him at the bar... no idea what it was but it incuded a shot of red bull... was nice though.

Bit of a fuzzy head today & every bone aches with the effort of dancing!

cyb · 15/05/2010 12:18

DukesOfTripHazard · 15/05/2010 12:38

V sorry L G & T. So sad.

CheeeseOnToast · 15/05/2010 12:43

Wow fairhaired that's amazing. Kudos to you for resisting all that delicious-sounding food last night too. Have you been following any kind of programme or just generally avoiding calorific food and snacks etc?

I had a bit of a horrible moment last night. I was in the gym, I really wasn't in the mood and couldn't quite be bothered but I forced myself and ran for about 2k, not great but better than nothing. Anyway, I was wearing a white gym top and I caught sight of myself from the side while i was running - seriously, back 'hamsters' doesn't cover it. I looked hideous . So I left the gym feeling worse than when I got there.

However, I stuck with it. Went to the shops and bought prawns a la Bobs, salad stuff, and fruit. They had about a million different 'types' of sliced chicken but no blardy turkey so no snacky protein apart from the prawns. I have a thing about Tesco chicken so I avoided it.

Then I did the haddock... and OMG it was soooo good!!! I used Master's recipe for a seasoned flour dusting (ground cumin seeds, coriander, chilli cayenne pepper, paprika, with salt and pepper) and shallow fried the fillets. It was delicious. I did a lemon and parsley cous cous and a watercress/rocket/spinach salad with lemon and olive oil dressing. God it was good. I was slightly wary because after I defrosted the fish I noticed the package said 'do not refreeze' but I cooked them anyway and it was fine!!

Planning a lunch of one hardboiled egg, salad leaves, prawns with sweet chilli dip, and cucumber and beetroot I think. Not sure what to do for dinner yet though.

dinkystinky · 15/05/2010 12:47

Oh god - LG&T am so sorry. My thoughts are with you.

Buda happy biffday. Sorry the tight arse woman screwed up the end of your evening - bet the friends that brought her were v embarrassed.

MamaG, Porridge - thanks to dinkystinkyno2 we're currently going through an average of 4.50am wake ups here. For at least 3 weeks. Its a fricking killer combined with his middle of the night teething wakings.

CheeeseOnToast · 15/05/2010 12:55

Oh yes and happy birthday Buda

DukesOfTripHazard · 15/05/2010 12:57

Yes, happy happy birthday Buda. Enjoy all your monitors

VoulezVouzCrochezAvecJACK · 15/05/2010 13:00

Oh no,, poor LG&T

Happy biffday Buda.

I biffed badly last night but damn it was good recipe here but we had no butternut squash, or anchovies, or cinnamon (yes, it's a veyr strange recipe..) He made 1 and a half so I have tea for the girls ready made today, awesome.
I got to bed about 2, DD2 screamed 3-4 and then they got up at 6, so feeling abit delicate. Half a banana for brek, smoked mackerel and cream cheese on ryvita for lunch.

Betty, pah, I weighed 17 4 a month ago, Buda and I had a race to see who could get below 16 stone first, she won[grrr] I am still 16 1.
What are you planning on eating? You need soemthing filling for breakfast, porridge, muesli, that kinda thing.
Also get all biscuits/crisps OUT of the house. The DC's didn't really notice that there weren't any snacks for a few weeks.

Get in some veg, I make a batch of susoup every few days and just guzzle that so (for noobs)

Tomato and basil.
Halve 6 or 7 tomatos and quarter an onion, chuck over a handful basil leaves and roast for half an hourish.
Put in pan and cover with water, add stock cube and simmer for 20ish minutes, blend, put in jug and help yourself (water it down more if you like)
I have been known to eat an entire jug of this in one day, it is filling and very tasty, but ridiculously low in calories.

Butternut squash soup next for me, chop up squash (leave skin on) add onion, then cook as above. yum.

DukesOfTripHazard · 15/05/2010 13:10

Jack do your really leave squash skin on? Would save time...

dinkystinky · 15/05/2010 13:11

Just caught up with thread. Welcome to new losers. Lol at Buda's romantic monitor presents - just be glad he stopped at the blood and heart pressure monitors and didnt go for any monitors you need to stick up your bum

Newbies - fruit or crudites between meals or corn thins (which resemble and taste like coasters) are a good way to try and ease out of biscuits between meals. Also aim to drink around 2litres of water a day - more if exercising - which will help keep snackage down. Other good things to have are soups (keep them chunky if you want them to feel more filling), huge salads/lots of veg (but keep potatoes quotient v low) and fat free yoghurts (Darrell is a fan of frozen yoghurts as takes longer to eat and feels like icecream).
