Old thread here

Nice new home for us now that March is over!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 12/04/2010 15:46

Let's hear it for piste!!!!!

Big congratulations from me, very well done!

I can count about 9 peeps who we've not seen for ages, do you girls think we should trim the list again? Not Dis as she started it and hopefully will pop back in.

bebe thanks for that recipe, i will copy it down, that is GI.

jodie will post in a bit with some info about low GI. My dad, a retired science teacher says there's lots of rubbish talked about it, but eats lots of wholegrains all the same as it helps with his diabetes.

Have to go and do some cleaning now. Oh what fun....

Fruitgums · 12/04/2010 16:19

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the very warm welcome & wow what a busy thread!!

Blonde - I am sorry for what you are going through. Hope that the situation improves for you.

Bebe - well done on fitting in your jeans. I find Gap clothes at least 2 sizes smaller than other high street brands.

Jodie - I've started running in mid-feb and I'm now at Week 8. Stick with ot. It DOES get easier and believe me I should know. I was very unfit and running 30 sec was a huge struggle esp with my 4 stone excess weight I can now run for 5mins!!! Are you doing the couch to 5k programme? I followed a similar programme and the run/walk really helped me to get to the level that I am now.

Piste - well done on your weight loss.

Apologies if I missed anyone off. Blame it on old age and my memory... plus I'm getting to know you all at ONCE

I'm having my weigh in tonight so I'll be updating my weight tomorrow morning.

GettinTrimmer · 12/04/2010 16:43

jodie from my book called GI High Energy Cookbook" author rachel anne hill, she says "The Glycaemic index (GI) is a scientific ranking of foods based on their immediate effect on blood sugar levels. Many everyday carbohydrate based foods have been tested and given a ranking between 1 and 100, depending on the sped at which they release their sugars into the bloodstream."

Basically, whole grain breads, low fat yoghurt, beans, pulses, lentils, peanuts even have a low GI Index (loads more, there's a long list of stuff in my book with GI ratings). Reasons for choosing low GI foods are they are more filling so we eat fewer calories, higher in fibre so reduce cholesterol, more sustaining, giving far greater energy levels throughout the day.

Macaroni is low GI at 45, but cornflakes are 84, to give a couple of examples. Basmati rice is 58, but other white rice is 87.

murtette thanks! Yes it was me who said I have in the past chucked it in when reach 12 stone mark, but I am not giving up!

fruitgums good luck with your weigh-in this evening.

On a positive note, I bought myself 2 summer tops in ASDA size 14. They are a bit tight as I'm top-heavy, but I can get into them!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/04/2010 16:50

Thank you GettingTrimmerAllTheTime !

Now my next target is to be a healthy weight according to the BBC guidelines/ BMI calculator and that is about 7pounds maybe less. I am 5ft 8.

Welcome Fruitgums!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/04/2010 17:43

Actually it is Gettin not Getting. I am always 'getting' it wrong. Sorry Trimmer and [woebegone]

Fruitgums - glad it's not just me who thinks Gap stuff is small...I ought to know better coz I used to work there! Good Luck for weigh in!

Have got into loads of smaller tops now too that haven't fit in years!

Question - I am down to 2 bras & a sports bra that actually fit me now. Do I get some extra ones or make do with 2 that I have? I just don't know if it's worth buying some the size I am now if I will be replacing them again in a couple of months! They aren't bloody cheap!!!

Piste - well done you!!

Had scrummy dinner of pasta with red pepper, tomato & smoked sausage sauce & salad. Even DH said how much he liked it! Feeling very full now though after the few days of hardly eating I feel like I have stuffed myself!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/04/2010 19:59

Bebe..... I'd be tempted to make do with your bras. I had this with trousers. I really had none that fitted bought two smaller pairs and now they are too big. It is hard - maybe save your money if you can ?!

GettinTrimmer · 12/04/2010 20:54

bebe When I got measured a little while ago I was told your back size stays the same but the cup size goes down when losing weight, don't know if that's true for everyone.

I seem to remember you recently had to get smaller bras, so after the next stone (another 2 months?) you'll probably have to get new ones? So tend to agree with Piste on this one, if you can make do for now have a look at it in another month perhaps.

Poohbearsmom · 12/04/2010 22:12

Evening all bebe id stick with the bra's i got cause you'l be tiny by the summer sales jus pick some up then
Trim thanks for the GI info its v.interesting, still havnt gotten to the shops to pick up a book yet but really want to before fri cause il actually get a chance to do some reading when im n da hosp!
Piste big big big CONGRATS

Poohbearsmom · 12/04/2010 23:05

oh &ment to say earlier i agree with editing the list & mayb just leaving Dis's name but not her weight details cause she's sick right now & not able to diet at the mo & a few lbs may creep back on (we all know how easy that happens!) so we dont want her to hav to go explaining that or adding on a gain or sumit when she does come back... does that make sence or am i being daft asusual??

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2010 09:01

Morning all

Trimmed the list, just put a smiley by Dis.
If I've accidently trimmed anybody, please just put yourselves back on again.

From memory I know MrsWill and Cote reached target, but left them on as they may like to look in for maintenance. Also LRD added herself again, but she may like to come back.

On second thoughts taken the smiley off.

Taking the dc out to a 'knight school' it's a museum in an old military fort, on a hill with fab views.

We are having a picnic, thank goodness the easter eggs have gone!

They can dress up as knights and have hobby horse races, but hopefully dd can be a princess.

I did Davina's aerobics yesterday then her bottom fit, my bum feels like it's had some hard work!

blondes have you recovered from bc?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2010 10:44

Trimmers trimed lol

Arms and bum cheeks stlll on fire

Fruitgums · 13/04/2010 13:02

Had my weigh last night and I've lost 2.5lbs!! I'm very pleased as I've been stuck at the same weight for the past 3 weeks.

Bebe - I'd make do with the current bras and second what Pooh says.

Just thought if I've trimmed anyone who wants to come back this would cover it.

fruit Well done! Stick with us and we'll get there

bebe hope your evening is OK(ish?)!

I've managed to stick to 1359 cals today, no exercise as can't fit it in. Have to go shopping as all my family are coming for lunch tomorrow.

I can feel another Nigella chocolate cheesecake coming on....so will have to do Davina tomorrow morning.

bebejones · 13/04/2010 20:05

Haven't totalled up my calories today but have been so busy I've not eaten that much. Did a big stir fry for dinner so that was low (ish) in cals. MIL has gone, wasn't as painful as usual!!

Trimmer - I really need to try this cheesecake recipe!

Haven't done any exercise as such today. But walked to Tesco this morning & had a big clean & tidy downstairs this afternoon. DD 'helped'! Housework is not my forte but it looks quite good now so am very proud of myself!!

Blondes - how u feeling now? Deep Heat?!?!
