Laughalot - I know how you feel, I have a definate case of the munchies today. Eaten way more than normal & am trying really hard to only eat 'healthy' things

Looked back at my weightloss chart on ff & I seem to lose big chunks mid cycle then smaller amounts or STS the other weeks. Can't be coincidence can it?

Hello all
Trimmer i did ask over yonder and was given a good link on cleanin them and what not to do which is a little to late as i killed it already am not havin good luck lately
Munchies all round id say no one of us isnt dyn for an ice-cream in the rare sunshine! But at least tis good weather for lots of salads im doin h.m spicey wedges for dinner yum anyone suggest a sensational (easy to make) cake for me to do for the wkend? Dh has a friend coming over from London and tis the first proper guest we'v had in years so would love to do some fab stuff but easy as im not too good... Suggestions would be wonderful

bebejones · 25/05/2010 18:39

PBM - I love cakes & making cakes! Prob why I ended up the size I was!! A lemon sponge is really easy & tasty in this heat, add zest of one lemon to a sponge cake mixture & ice with buttercream with lemon zest in & sandwich with the buttercream & lemon curd. Or I do chocolate cake with a really rich (Delia) chocolate icing it is very indulgent (it's 2 bars of melted 70% cocoa chocolate combined with a medium pot of soured cream, it is super yummy). Crumble cake also really good, and easy & is nice cold or warmed with ice cream or custard, make a sponge mixture, then top with fruit (blackberries or raspberries work well) then top with crumble topping before cooking.

Poohbearsmom · 25/05/2010 19:53

Uh they sound lovely Bebe! Thank you im well able to do a sponge so i could try the lemon but dh hates buttercream icing the mad head! Would i have to make my own curd cause iv a recipe for it (yes im that sad i went to check...) it sounds "doable" but bit of faff if i could get away wit a jar of chivers! The choc sounds droolable but maybe heavy for this weather (if it keeps up that is) the crumble one i think is a winner id love to give that a go, will report back and tell ya how it goes one more question though can i use frozen raspberrys?

Murtette · 25/05/2010 20:19

PBM - do the sponge as bebe has suggested and then fill it with lemon curd mixed with cream cheese. Its utterly delicious. If I'm making it a bit more special (or what to use it as a dessert) I put raspberries in the middle too. Just sieve some icing sugar over the top or mix up some icing sugar with some lemon juice and dribble it over the top.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/05/2010 20:21

mummymels · 26/05/2010 00:25

This thread is amazing. You don?t get on for just a couple of days and there is pages to catch up on. I?m not sure I will have time to catch up on everything though this time.

Bebe ? Just think you can go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. That?s brilliant about the school top. Brilliant weight loss too.

Trimmer ? Hope you and DD are better now. How did your French exam go yesterday?

PBM ? Did you decide which pre school to go for? Sorry I can?t help with the floor. Well done on your loss.

Blondes ? Thanks for explaining mb to me. That?s great on DH?s new job.

Murtette ? Well done on your loss.

Jodie ? Sorry to hear about your dog.

Piste ? well done on your loss.

Laughalot ? Start again this week.

Conference was very full on. It took me all week to catch up and still not sure I really am.

bebejones · 26/05/2010 08:46

Just popping on quickly before toddler group, will be back later for a proper catch up!

PBM - who doesn't like buttercream?!?!?! lol Never tried frozen raspberries, think they might make it a bit wet?! Had put crumble cake recipe on MN recently, here

Murtette - love suggestion about lemon curd & cream cheese, does it work with low fat cream cheese?

Back later, off for teddy bears picnic!

OP posts:
Poohbearsmom · 26/05/2010 09:21

Mels im finding it very hard to decide its a case of pickin a nice little oldish b&b with nice young friendly staff which is free and money is mega tight so thats great like but then youv this 5 star hotel which blows your socks off but theres strings attached! And ALOT of money... I should have sent my form to the first place already (iv it filled) but i just couldnt! Iv exchanged a few emails with the other lady just waiting for her to confirm if she'd be charging the gov rate for the extra hour or her usual rate with would jus be too much tis confusing stuff how did ye decide?!
Bebe thanks for that link im such a muppet i never thought to look n here for recipes! Enjoy your picnic

bebejones · 26/05/2010 16:27

Blondes - hope you enjoyed the sausage again!

Mels - wish I could afford a whole new wardrobe...maybe when I'm a size 12

PBM - put a pic on my profile of the blackberry crumble cake I made the other week, so you have a sort of reference should you want to make it! (Also IMO it's a very drool worthy pic! ) Also I got a FAB Brownie recipe off MN so definately worth a look for stuff on here!

GettinTrimmer · 26/05/2010 17:50

I was doing really well today until tea time. Had x3 pieces of (low fat) garlic bread. Good job I don't do low carbing!

PBM My dd went to a pre-school with lovely staff, but not the smartest, poshest setting. Both pre-schools sound like they are really good in their way, Ikwym about difficult decisions. What does your dh think?

bebe that cake looks lovely. I have a baking encyclopedia with a recipe for crumble cake (with plums) never got around to making it.

I've been meaning to ask you, did you take your measurements back in Jan?

mummymels Not sure how my French exam went yesterday, I have not done enough work.

The conference sounds like hard work, but well done for being involved with the NCT.

I am still waiting to hear about the job I applied for, not much about, especially for local government.

laughalot I know how you feel, I managed to get started again by listing the reasons why I want to continue to lose weight.

Hoping I can blast off the garlic bread with exercise tomorrow...

blondes hope things for your friends work out alright.

mummymels · 26/05/2010 19:36

Bebe - Teddy bears picnic sounds fun. How did it go? Your crumble sounds yum (and picture looks yummy too!) but unfortunately I had better not try it out at the moment whilst low carbing but one to keep in mind when I have got to goal as a treat. Lol re affording a new wardrobe, I know that feeling! I bought some stuff in Primark as it's cheap but couldn't afford a whole new wardrobe either.

PBM - It is hard deciding nurseries. You are leaving your beloved child with these people and want to make sure they are somewhere where they will be looked after and cared for. With nursery I went for one in our local synagogue as I knew friend's children had been there and were happy with it. Do you have any friends localls who have been through choosing nurseries yet whose children have been to either of the ones you have looked at who you could speak to?

Trimmer - If you were good all day until the garlic bread, hopefully it won't have done too much harm. When do you get your French results? I hope it turns out well. When was the closing date for the job?

I seem to be back on track now and have done much better this week so am really going to try and stick to it now. Am watching DH eat a pizza this evening which is quite hard but I feel more focused again.

bebejones · 27/05/2010 08:37

Mels - can you send some of your focus my way please?! Feeling distinctly not interested this week! Didn't do measurements coz I was too scared. But I was a 20/22 on top & 18 on bottom when we started & wearing 40 back size bra. I'm not size 16 on top & 14 on bottom & wearing 36 back size on bra. Pleased with that! Did a quick measure this morning & am 34.5 inches round my back so prob nearly time for new bras again, am 32 inches round the smallest part of my waist then it all goes decidedly downhill when you get to my hips/bum Seem to be carrying alot more weight round my hips/bum than I did pre DD

PBM - sounds like a nightmare decision about the nurseries. I would go with gut instinct & reputation. Hope you get it sorted soon

Potty training DD, sort of been trying to get her to sit on her potty for more than 5 secs for ages. Finally cracked it yesterday (bribery with jelly babies) and she actually did a wee (TMI sorry, but I was so excited) it was more luck than anything I think. Today it is not going so well, so far. But this is all new to both of us so will persevere!

Had some cereal for brekkie today & prob will finish off the last of the h/m potato salad for lunch with some ham. Then doing sweet & sour chicken with rice for dinner. Like having everything planned out, makes everything easier, especially with a toddler!

OP posts:
bebejones · 27/05/2010 08:38

Ooops, I am now a 16 on top, not 'not'!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 27/05/2010 13:26

I admire your restraint mummymels. Pizza is my one (or one of them!) weakness.

bebe Good luck with the toilet training. My ds (boys are later apparently) wasn't ready till he was 3, but dd was easy, did it herself at 2 yrs 4 months. I remember the sweeties bribe!

Hi to everybody else. How are you all??

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2010 17:17

afternoon ladies

having a slack moment, went for a curry last night - was sooooooooooooooooo yummy!!!!

popadums/chicken passanda/cocnut rice/garlic nam {bad blondes}

i dont beleive there will be a loss tomorrow

need a kick into action

off to the gym in a tick and will work hard

bebejones · 27/05/2010 18:17

OMG Blondes I could murder a curry! That sounds SO good!!!

Just worked out AF is due next week, that would explain the munchies this week!

Trimmer - from what I've been reading DD is young for the potty training (nearly 22 months) but my mum insists I was clean & dry during the day at 18 months. Would have left it longer but TBH nappy changes were getting such a battle that it's better this way, for everyone! She's a smart cookie so hoping she 'gets it' quite quickly!

Just cooked dinner & it was so yummy, could eat it all again! Trying to resist the cake in the kitchen & the caramel buttons in the cupboard & the chocolate mousse in the fridge......

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2010 21:25

Bebe it was scrummy!!!

But means I won't lose tomorrow

my charge is 23 mths and hasnt got a clue about pt where as her friend was dry day and nap time at 20 mths

Poohbearsmom · 28/05/2010 00:23

Evening
well i decided on the nice happy relaxed preschool in the end sounds like the one you picked Trimmer, the other lady from the very swishy elite one sent me another email which was so madly over the top it sealed the deal and when i spoke to the lady who owns the one i chose she was so down to earth and chatty and lovely it really made it much clearer in my mind they are just more me
fantastic they hav a preschool in your Synagogue Mels would love one at a mosque for my lo's would be nice them not to be the odd ones out but hopefully with the teachers help we'l limit that for my ds's, fingers crossed
Bebe that crumble cake of yours looked fantastic! Couldnt get blackberrys cause my supermarket only had madly expensive yucky rotten ones got the frozen raspberrys wil hopefully not be too soggy il defrost them first to try minimise wateryness... Am also going to do the lemon sponge with mascarpony (sp?) mixed with lemon curd (couldnt be arsed makin my own so bought da chivers...) and also gona do a strawberry tart (dh's fav) so hope it comes out nice im fairly good at pastry so all iv to do is slice the strawberrys and put em on top of whipped cream mixed with lemon curd aswell (my recipe book does demand i make my own but...chivers it shall be) and dont have apricot jam so gona glaze with strawberry jam but should work fine i think... Will hopefully look the total domestic goddess and have everyone falling at my feet to worship well maybe not but if its eaten il be happy
Best of luck wit potty training Bebe ds1 was quite easy altho havin a little baba and a toddler wantin to be put on the potty every 10min was not fun but he was dying to get into big boy shorts like his daddy but ds2 is refusing point blank! And hes 25months he has done many wee's as i used to offer a sit on every time we were havin a nappy change but then he just got a set against it and goes mad to hav a new nappy asap when the old one is taken off... Which is crap esp as he had a sore bum and i just wanted him to let a bit of air on it (have no problem with puddles as long as it helps) but even tryin to distract as long as possible he was still askin for his new nappy... Im not gona rush anyways, i think i was in more of a hurry with ds1 as my mum kept sayin how my lil sister was fully trained before her 2bday so i was thinkin that was the norm (hadnt discovered mn) if only i could get him outa pull ups at night though id be happy... Anyways best of luck
was very naughty this evening and made "the most dangerous cake ever" cake from here gosh twas so lovely and my boys loved it! Oh and guess what i did for dinner? Only sausage pie!! was a complete success actually i tweaked it slightly for chicken sausages and chicken and added some diff veg, what does mr. Blondes usually put? And was a tat naughty with some grated chedder on top but my goodness it was plate licken good!

mummymels · 28/05/2010 00:40

Bebe - Your measurements and clothes sizing are really going down now. I wish I had taken my measurements at the beginning as well as just weighing myself but can't go back in time now. I have thrown some focus over to you! Mind you, it is about time I had some after the amount of cheating I have done lately. Well done to DD for doing a wee on her potty today. It is a big step so you have a right to be so excited. As you say she is still young so you don't need to stress if it takes her a while to get it. Good luck with the rest of potty training. Talking of these matters, I felt really awful today when my DD decided to wet herself at a friends house who had just told me she had her carpet professionally cleaned recently and is being really strict with people taking off their shoes etc to keep it clean especially as they have just put their house on the market.

Trimmer - Pizza is one of my weaknesses too. Only a couple of weeks ago I couldn't be so restrained and was chomping away at it so I had to be stricter this time.

Blondes - I an envious. Having said that my family are very sadly into the Eurovision and can't wait for this Saturday plus it is my mum's birthday so we may be getting a take away and I am sure I won't be able to resist this time.

PBM - It sounds as if you have made the perfect decision on nursery. At least the snotty phone call helped you decide which one was best for you and DS's. I am sure they will settle really well. All your puddings and cakes sound so yummy. I would imagine it will be hard to cook all of those without feeling tempted to taste them!

bebejones · 28/05/2010 08:32

Morning everyone!!

Taking DD swimming later & can't wait!! Haven't been in a few weeks, been ill, AF, school hols (avoid pool like the plague) and tried on my swim stuff last night & it's massive but my smaller one is a bit tight (and I don't like it very much). Gonna have to wear the big one & hope it doesn't sag too much when it gets wet!

Mels - we have a Eurovision party every year. It's hilarious & involves lots of shot drinking! Your poor DD, that must have been horrid for her & mortifying for you.

Speaking of which, what spirit is low cal?!!? I think I might really be in for it this year!

PBM - glad you picked a pre-school that you are happy with. Sounds like you made the best choice for your boys. All those cakes sound amazing! I never make lemon curd, but I bought some really nice lemon curd from a local garden centre that's locally made & it's yummy!

DD is doing really well sitting on her potty at nappy changes. She gets jelly babies if she 'produces' and lots of praise if she manages to sit for a decent length of time. Sunday is P-Day (Pants day ) although will prob end up more like Pee-day!

Right must go get the day started, managed to get up, showered & dressed before DD woke up! Miracle!!
