im weighing in at 12st 11 which is way to big for my 5'2 height, im a size 16.....
going on my hols in 7weeks and i have been off and on dietingfor the past 6 weeks, losing half a stine putting back on etc.
well enough is enough.....
i am HUGE and really down about it....
i would love to lose as much as poss in the 7 weeks but have very little willpower.
my bmi is about 30-31, and apparently my "ideal" weight should be 8-9 stone....
but i would be happy at 10 half-11 stone....i start different diets conatantly
1 week its slimming world, then next i calorie count
really want someone to kick me up the arse!

I always find the first week is the hardest! Once you get used to not eating the snacks etc, and you see the first few pounds come off, it gets far easier! Good luck!

Tortington · 20/03/2010 15:13

try low carbing, the intitial 6 weekweight loss is astounding.

i started last may weighting 12.13 - i am 5'2. i now weigh 8.9

GypsyMoth · 20/03/2010 15:28

and some exercise too..

bishboschone · 20/03/2010 15:32

custardo....did you lose weight every week doing low carb? also how many grams of carbs did/ do you eat daily? you seem like a bit of an expert

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 20/03/2010 15:37

I got down to 12'8 with a mixture of slimming world, low carb (the best), calorie counting too and abit of fat checking. I have gone back to 14 1/2 ish now but am pregnant... IMO nothing beats just eating healthy - as simple as you can - making own sauces/ just using herbs rather than shop bought, cutting right back on bread, go totally wholemeal, very limited mash, try and swap for a few new potatoes, 1/2 fill your plate with veg, buy meat as lean as you can etc. It wasn't even hard to do and the weight fell off me with very little exercise, but I am using this pregnancy as abit of an excuse to get some last minute m & m cramming going

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 20/03/2010 15:41

I cut out as much as I could that wasn't a raw/whole ingredient. Swapped ham for a chicken breast torn up, shop bought humous for homemade, spaghetti sauce was just tomatoes/herbs, curry sauce was yoghurt/spices etc. You can make anything and it be healthy really - burgers with very lean mince, herbs, small wholemeal bap, thin slice of cheese, lettuce, cucmber etc. and a few potato wedges with herbs on is such a far cry from 'burger and chips'. I am yet to slice up some lamb thinly to make a 'kebab'

Tortington · 20/03/2010 15:42

im not an expert by any means, just from my own experience. i started at 20grams of carbs a day lost weight every day even if it was 0.5lb ( digital scales is a must) when i reached a weight plataeu, i lowered the carbs to 15 and then to 10.

i eat ( i think) the amount that 'normal' people eat. i eat lots of mixed veg, fish, lean meat like chicken and lean mince. also lots of salad.

i have some info on my MNblog if you're intrested - just click my name then scroll down and click my blog link

travellingwilbury · 20/03/2010 15:48

em I am 13 stone and only slightly taller than you , I also need a kick up my expanding rear . I am not normally on here on a weekend but will def be back on monday and make a start with you if you like .

I do snack far too much (bordeom mostly I think)
And I def don't do enough excercise (would probably stop me being bored)

Simples eh ?

GypsyMoth · 20/03/2010 15:50

custardo.....i just had a peek....i'm worried about the coffee,i need milk in it!! hate it black....but why are you allowed limited cream and not milk? am confused

Tortington · 20/03/2010 16:11

its all to do with the fat - i don't know the ins and outs without googling the medical facts - but unlike any other diet, LCing means you have full fat cream - it had lower carbs

so if you want white coffee add cream.

but you really can'thave milk.

Tortington · 20/03/2010 16:15

here is the low carb thread for anyone who is intrested

travellingwilbury · 20/03/2010 17:04

Thanks I will have a nose . I have really got to get a grip .

How did you keep motivated ? I start off ok but I then get bored with the whole thing and manage to convince myself I don't mind being a lard arse

em83 · 20/03/2010 19:31

WOW custardo you look fab in your pic, you look really slim !!!
what size were you before you lost the weight ?
i think i would find lo carbs hard to follow as i love bread /pasta etc

OP posts:
ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 20/03/2010 19:44

My goodness, never knew about no root vegetables - I love them! Sorry to be slightly hijacking your thread here...

Tortington · 21/03/2010 04:03

loads of people say that - but its just fucking lazy. you either want to not be fat or dont - dont fuck about here.

i love bread, pasta, fruit etc - i was once a vegatarian ( in uni) so this meat shit is really really hard for me - but i want to do it - so cut the shit and do it or dont.

i was 12 st 13 when i started

ShinyAndNew · 21/03/2010 04:53

I find when I LC (my own way) I make better, healthier, more low cal choices anyway.

|for example my root veg instead of mashed potato is mashed cleriac and parnsips. BOth count as 1 of your five a day where potatos do not and even with mixing them with cream and butter, they are more low cal than tattys with marg. Plus healthier.

My low carb diet is more of a 'no white shit' diet. No bread, pasta, sugar, micro meals etc. Nothing that we are not meant to eat.

I don't count carbs and I don't exclude any fruit or veg. With a moderate amount of exercise I still see the same results Custy does.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2010 13:50

ww works for me

as long as you stay within your points you WILL lose weight

its the snacking/not counting/including that makes diets not work

remember

little pickers wear bigger knickers

travellingwilbury · 22/03/2010 07:49

Right today is the day

em83 · 22/03/2010 11:14

today is the start of mine 2 !!
good luck
let me know how u get on !

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 22/03/2010 12:24

Good luck to you too , I didn't have my coffee this morning which is a first for very many years and than I had an omelette for breakfast . I am def going to do the low carb thing . I am such a carb addict that I think I really need to try and get on top of it .

Ham salad for lunch I reckon and then roast chicken and salad tonight .

I am thinking about investing in some new scales as well .

woahthere · 22/03/2010 14:14

can i join you too em, i am 5ft 2 1/2 (the half is very important) i weigh 13.2 this morning. I am fed up of being a fatty and never having clothes that fit (jeans either dig in or fall down) i was 15 and a half stone after i had my son 2 years ago, rapidly lost lots then stuck at 13. 9 for ages, then before chrimbo lost 1/2 stone and have maintained that for a while but not lost any either. I think I look ok and then see photos of myself and am ashamed. I have been big before and then lost lots but unfortunately that was through stress of splitting up with my partner and basically eating bugger all but drinking too much booze!....dont wan to do that again! I would like to cut down on carbs too. its funny really when I was a single Mum and lived alone I was completely happy to not have carbs but now I live with my partner I eat loads! Just gong to cut them out completely I think. So Em we are similar starting point Id say...lets get started!

travellingwilbury · 22/03/2010 16:33

So how is everyones first day going ?

I am managing ok but I am struggling with snacks . I can't even have any fruit which seems a bit mean . But I know it works so hopefully tomorrow will be easier .

Monadami · 23/03/2010 02:19

It is definitely hard and I wish everyone success with their weight loss goals.

I'm 5'6 and 14 stones 2 pounds, size 16. I'm a Personal Trainer (on Maternity Leave, supposed to return to work in June) and although I've struggled for years with my weight, I finally won the battle 5 years ago, getting down to a fit and toned size 10. I kept the weigh off for 2 years, purely through calorie counting, eating healthily and intense exercise.

I've started my weight loss plan yet again and mentioned here earlier I'm starting Hypnosis sessions this week. I need to exercise, but just don't have the motivation to go to the gym and not disciplined enough to work out regularly at home.

I just wish it was easier.

em83 · 23/03/2010 09:34
