well enough is enough.....
i am HUGE and really down about it....
i would love to lose as much as poss in the 7 weeks but have very little willpower.

yes,i'm serious too....id slimming world once, but couldnt get my hea round the 'eat freely' aspect. took it too far i think, especially green days!!

em83 · 23/03/2010 10:02

well theres a new plan on slimmingworld....

the extra easy - where u mix red and green days till your hearts content, no weighing or measuring etc..... however you only get to have 1 healthy a and 1 healthy b but it means you can have chicken with potatoes and veg, or spag bol etc

its meant to make you lose weight at a faster rate apparently

I couldn't do slimming world , I would eat far too much . I also eat far too much bread and carbs in general so I am hoping that cutting it out ot at least very low then it will help . I can't just have one slice of toast I would have to have a few

I am hoping to get down to goal by the end of July which is when I am going to visit my mum in France and I really don't want to be lardy by then .

GypsyMoth · 23/03/2010 12:47

ay two of low carbing...,.but am i doing it right??

having about 4-5 foo items a day,not being too adventurous. lots of meat, but i'm so full!! i've not been hungry yet??

having eggs, but worrying its too much as dont usually eat them, but am feeling full afterwards too.

only thing is...coffee....been having splash of milk in it. is cream really better?? having diet coke too,so trying to cut down. feel better and feel slimmer, which has just got to be psychological for day 2!!

going shopping soon,so will try and vary what i get

travellingwilbury · 23/03/2010 13:01

It sounds about right to me , I went shopping yesterday and I was so shocked at the amount of carbs in nearly everything .

I am having omelette at breakfast and then ham and cheese salad for lunch , no idea what I will have tonight . The first two weeks are the hardest , then you can raise the carbs up a wee bit .

cream is def better , I have just done without my coffee which is a bit odd , but I am not stopping my booze , vodka instead of wine though .

Good luck

woahthere · 23/03/2010 13:42

I am going to try and low carb it too. Today I have had 2 poached eggs and 2 pieces of bacon for brekkie, 1 tiny bit of cheese for a snack, a tin uf tuna mixed with grated cucumber for lunch. Also 1 tea (with milk) 1 without (yuck) and 1 coffee without milk or sugar(double yuck). I need to go shopping and buy cream, nice meat, spinach and salad and stuff. Oh...and vodka to replace tyhe wine!!!!

em83 · 23/03/2010 14:00

can someone please give me the basics on the low carb diet, as everyone seems to be doing it and i feel left out......

Need some more ideas...... Will be pinching the tuna and cucumber idea..... We can have Mayo too

em83 · 23/03/2010 17:04

im useless lol !

travellingwilbury · 23/03/2010 17:55

em , there is a low carb thread on here which has loads of tips for getting started or look at custardos blog .

I am no expert but basically I am eating no bread , pasta or spuds at all . No root veg and most of the snacks I would normally eat are very high in carbs -biscuits , cereal bars etc .

You can have eggs , meat (preferably not processed stuff as they add carby stuff to it) cream but no milk , you can have salad but no tomatoes . Also no fruit for the first couple of weeks which is the thing I am finding hardest weirdly .

woahthere · 23/03/2010 18:31

does this sound alright to you guys..for my tea i had steak, mushrooms cooked in butter with salt, pepper and double cream in at the end served with leeks and brocolli. It was so delicious that I am worried it cant be right! Can you literally eat as much as you like?

You would be proud of me to know i resisted....double chocolate fudge cake, hot buttered toast with strawberry jam and bananas and mandarins. I am a childminder and it was one of the kids birthday.

em83 · 23/03/2010 19:07

so wat have you been snacking on if you dont mind me asking ?
is it poss for you to write a typical days menu on here just so i can have a nose

OP posts:
travellingwilbury · 23/03/2010 19:48

I have been snacking on bugger all which is a wee bit painful but really the meals are pretty filling so I am not that hungry .

For breakfast I had fried egg and bacon and then a ham sald for lunch with some grated cheese on top and for dinner I am just about to have some meatballs with some grated cheese on top . Not too much cheese though .

Yesterday I had omelette for breakfast (onion , quarter of a red pepper and some cheese)
Lunch was ham salad (think this will be a repeat)
Dinner was roast chicken , plenty of salad and some yummy mayo .

It does feel a bit odd being able to eat bacon , cheese and mayo when on a diet but I do know that it works . You do have to stick to it though . Last time I did this I lost 7 pounds the first week but as soon as you go back to too many carbs it does go back on very quickly . I am determined to get the weight off this time .

woahthere · 23/03/2010 19:57

Ive only started today em. I have had:

Breakfast...2 poached eggs and 2 rashers grilled bacon
snack...out and about so only had a tiny bit of cheese while at play group but wasnt that hingry anyway.
Lunch..whole tin of tuna mixed with grated cucumber
Tea...As above

Doesnt sound like much eat to eat actually but strangely not been that hungry. It is a bit scary eating all that fat though but reading off other threads its got to work.

Tomorrow will probably have
Breakfast...scrambled egg
Snack...ham slices and cream cheese, coffee with cream and sweetener
lunch...chicken salad
Tea...veggies roasted in olive oil with s and p and meat of some kind.

Snacks seem to be things like hard boiled eggs, bits of cucumber with cream cheese, sliced meats, cheese. you could probably even have a salad with tuna or something if you were hungry.

This diet makes sense to me because I know that if I eat toast or carbs for breakfast Im like a ravenous addict for them for the rest of the day, if I cut them out completely i dont crave food so much.

Lets hope it works hey.

I have a question for low carbers...how long should I leave it before I weigh myself? How long does it take to start working?

Does vodka have no carbs?

travellingwilbury · 23/03/2010 20:18

I would weigh in a couple of days , you should see a difference by then . I blumming hope so anyway that is my plan.

And I hope vodka is no carb as I have got one on the go now

GypsyMoth · 23/03/2010 20:40

i'm loving my coffee with cream!!!

woahthere · 23/03/2010 21:02

simmo39 · 23/03/2010 21:32

Hi there fellow low carbers. I am 8 weeks into a LC diet and have lost 28 1/2 lbs!! So am proof it does work you have just got to stick to it. I am having lots of help as I am doing my diet with a company called GoLower who deliver the food to me and provide telephone counsellors for support and advice. Best diet I have ever done, not hungry and am still sticking with it easily :0

GypsyMoth · 23/03/2010 22:15

That's alot of weight there simmo! Have heard of the golower company......can't afford it tho!

Have found I'm drinking alot of water, prob because it's not food I'm used to and more salty? And I have more energy too.

Will weigh myself every other day as usual!

woahthere · 24/03/2010 09:24

that is a fantastic weight loss simmo.

This morning I have a horrible migrainey feeling and felt very nauseous. Is this normal when you cut out carbs, I feel pretty awful - how long will it last?

em83 · 24/03/2010 09:43

wow simmo well done ! am i right in thinking that you arent allowed to have any carbs at all ??
or is there a certain amount you can have per day ?
thanx ladies for the days menu plans
woahthere did you have anything else with the tuna and cucumber as that doesnt seem much to me and i would be starving
