im weighing in at 12st 11 which is way to big for my 5'2 height, im a size 16.....
going on my hols in 7weeks and i have been off and on dietingfor the past 6 weeks, losing half a stine putting back on etc.
well enough is enough.....
i am HUGE and really down about it....
i would love to lose as much as poss in the 7 weeks but have very little willpower.
my bmi is about 30-31, and apparently my "ideal" weight should be 8-9 stone....
but i would be happy at 10 half-11 stone....i start different diets conatantly
1 week its slimming world, then next i calorie count
really want someone to kick me up the arse!

But I am interested in low carb as it might be easier than counting carbs and I don't live with my mum so she'll never know! I would appreciate someone with a more balanced view giving me info

em83 · 28/03/2010 19:24

thanks em, im not very good on diets that involve eating unlimited amounts of things because to be truthful with you I have had/still occasionally battle with bulimia and it seems to trigger it back off again. They do advise you on slimming world not to do it if youve had bulimia but i thought i was well over it so tried it...lets just say it did trigger it again and it took me about 2 years to get straight again. My metabolism is just f*** from it all and I find it so hard to lose weight. I know people have that mantra..its easy, eat less move more but its not always that simple. I know for a fact that I eat normally a balanced healthy diet most of the time and I dont drive so walk miles every day. i usually manage a couple of sessions of exercise or yoga a week as well. I think I just have to accept that I will never lose weight quickly...but it will come down slowly.

Hellbent..I did feel like I was ill...the taste in my mouth was just like that when youve had gastroentiritis and been laid up in bed for a while...just yacky all the time you know? And yes I was constipated, took laxatives to get rid of it and then had squits all day (tmi sorry!) You can exercise on atkins (if you have the energy!)
I was so excited about losing lots of weight but when you get worried that you mhgt have eaten too many tomatoes then thats just wrong imo. One thing it does do is make you realise how sweet everything is though! I had a jacket potato tomight and WOW it was so sweet. I actually dont feel like eating cakes or biccies or anything now as I think they would be too sweet!

em83 · 28/03/2010 20:34

travellingwilbury · 29/03/2010 07:27

Hi all , well today is a week of doing the low carb thing and I have lost 7 1/2 pounds
I am really pleased , I have got one more week of being strict and then I can start re introducing more carbs . I think for me it is a good diet as I am so much of a carb fiend . I was eating bread at least 3 times a day and always had spuds/rice/pasta for every evening meal . It is not the easiest way to lose weight but I am not finding it too hard .

monkeyfacegrace · 29/03/2010 07:53

Thanks for the email Em! Yeah its hard, but its only 4 days. Im going to buy the ingredients in the next few days, then start it next Monday. Wish me luck!

twinkle183 · 29/03/2010 10:20

Hi guys, how is everyone doing. Since I gave up on the low carb thing I have been eating really healthily still. Today I had scrambled eggs for brekkie, a bowl of soup for lunch and bolognese sauce with spinach for my tea (not spaghetti). Basically the only difference in my diet now is Im not having a shit load of cream and cheese, i dont feel like i have to eat the fat on my meat and i am having a bit more fruit and veg. its still pretty low carb but im sure not enough for any of that ketosis business but I feel way way better. Weighed myself this morning and was still 13 but that still means an overall weight loss of 2lbs in a week which is sensible i think and more achievable. Whats more is my ibs is gone for now, fluid retention is going away too.
I havent had one for ages so didnt realise I was going to get one but i got af this morning as well so I possibly could have been a bit bloated..i'll weigh myself in a couple of days and see if there is a difference. I had a really hard time this evening as the kids and my dh ate....chocolate flake puddings!!!!! in front of me, I was salivating, it made me want to cry. I have promised myself that if I resist naughty carbs (cakes, biscuits, chocolate) that on Easter Day, for one day only I am going to allow myself chocolate....the whole egg if I want it!

em83 · 30/03/2010 19:09

well today i have been bad . had a pot of ambrosia custard and jelly and a packet of rolos
couldnt resist.....
im going on holiday in 5 weeks! i havent got a single item of clothing that im going to take, can anyone advise me on what i need/should take ! we are going to ibiza for 1 week ..

GypsyMoth · 30/03/2010 19:10

i'm not missing the carbs at all, which is really odd! i dont think i could go back to eating loads again...i used to have toast for brekkie without fail, and loved it,now i couldnt face it

i'm getting my old jeans out from my fat wardrobe to spur me on!!

simmo39 · 30/03/2010 21:34

what a mixture of results, seems the LC option works for some of us but not all. My diet is also low GI and GL and good fats, fortunately it is all worked out or me.

TBB - well done and congratualtions you must feel pleased with yourself. I initially felt tired and suffered from headaches but that passed and feel so much better now.

Twinkle - let us know how you get on with the 30 day shred, am still doing Davina but would be interested in adding to my collection..

HellBent · 31/03/2010 09:41

I'm trying low carb even after you telling me that my mum was right woahthere! Lost 3 pounds in 3 days!

I struggle to eat breakfast in the morning with two kids to get up and ready so I normally have a slim fast shake. I was in boots a few days ago and they have gone up to £1.59 !

On the shelf under was some Atkins shakes for 85p, I decided instantly to try low carb, so I am having one for breakfast, an omlette or tuna salad for lunch and whatever is being cooked for dinner minus the potato/pasta/rice and having salad instead.

Shakes are vile btw I wouldn't recommend them but I am not hungry until lunch and they are only 150 cals which is less than a slimfast shake.

What is odd is that I would normally have a 2 egg omlette with 2 slices of toast for lunch, now I am not eating the toast and adding a bit of ham and cheese, I feel more full and not hungry until dinner.

HellBent · 31/03/2010 09:42

Meant to say well done on the weight loss everyone else!

Also does anyone have any Atkins/lowcarb soup recipes?

GypsyMoth · 31/03/2010 09:45

well done hellbent...i resisted weighing myself this morning, its getting to be a daily thing and i dont want to see the scales going up or sticking!!

need the motivation of seeing a little gone each time...

funny isnt it,how filling omelettes are!! i always see them as a light choice on menus

woahthere · 31/03/2010 14:07

Lost a lb again so am now 3 lbs down...still not had any chocolate, cake, biscuits bread or crappy carbs like pasta and stuff. feel pretty good and am happy to have got down below the 13 stone mark, it feels like a big milestone. Hope it stays below and keeps going down. My jeans are a lot baggier, Im having to pull my belt about 2 inches tighter! Yippee!

hellbent, i lost 3 lbs in 3 days as well and that put some back on and then realised it was a horrible diet and not really worth it if the weight wasnt coming off, if its workin though, keep going ..I would have done.

twinkle183 · 31/03/2010 14:42

As soon as the bloody DVD arrives I will let you know... am fed up of waiting for it if I am honest...!

I'm looking forward to an omlette later.. absolutely love them!

At the moment I have laid off the exercise until this dvd comes as I have a huge ulcer on my tongue which almost makes eating impossible not a bad thing for my diet!

Well done to everyone who has lost a bit of weight or inches... good job

Hoping to have some good results to report soon...

simmo39 · 31/03/2010 20:21

Waited ages for my Davina DVD don't suppose you got it off play.com, they took forever but it did eventually arrive.

Oooh ulcers are so painful I tend to suffer from them when run down or stressed.

I love omlettes too but just can't cook one, it turns into a scrambled eggy mess! Any advice anyone on how to make the perfect omlette? Thing is they go so well with chips and a big dolop of coleslaw (stop it, I am salvating at the thought of chips! )

GypsyMoth · 31/03/2010 20:50

for omelettes i just mix up the eggs and pour into an oled, hot frying pan......add the filling and stick it under a hot grill....it usually rises a fair bit. once cooked, remove pan an flip omelette over and onto a plate....voila!!!

just had tuna salad...yum!

simmo39 · 31/03/2010 21:06

Well never knew you grilled them, OK will give it a try. Not sure about flipping it, will probably end up on the floor, ceiling or hob! Saw on a cooking programme that omlettes are one of the hardest things to cook....?!

GypsyMoth · 31/03/2010 21:12

no,not flip like a pancake!! just one half oer the other iyswim!?

yes, used to work in a pub kitchen in my younger days and learnt to stick it under grill so it all souffles upwards!!
