need to lose at least 4 stone

FacePalm · 08/03/2010 12:06

I have had two children in 26 months, and my youngest is 8 months old. I have actually put on a stone since she was born! I also breastfeed! So , so much for that!

Anyway, last week I was 14 stone 3lbs! The heaviest I have ever been in my life!

I decided I really needed to do something about it properly this time. I want to lose at least 4 stone, initially, which will give me a bmi of 25.

I have started SlimFast, and in the first week have lost 6lbs.

It is going ok for me so far, I was a terrible eater in the day, would barely eat till the afternoon, when I might have some toast or a sandwich, but then once dh was home from work, eat a huge evening meal or take out, crisps, chocolate!

So, now I am having the meal replacement bars for Breakfast and lunch, and 3 snacks a day and trying to drink lots of water, then a 600 calorie evening meal.

I hate how I look at the moment. I have suffered quite badly with PND since my youngest was born, and part of this has manifested itself into my fear of leaving the house on my own with my two children. I think, that the fact that I hate how I look, and think people are laughing at me because of this, does not really help me recover.

So, I hope you all do not mind me joining you in this section.

ooh, no idea, i did work out the calories in it, with rice and was about 400...which meant for me on the slim fast i got a pudding to make it up to 600 calories for my evening meal

It is lovely though!

That sounds delish facepalm - will have to give it a go at the weekend.

I feel very achey this morning after the DVD workout yesterday. Will be going to the gym today and will try stage 2 of the DVD on Saturday.

QOD - good luck and keep posting. Also I know you said no snacking but for me I was only eating 3 meals a day and the weight was soooooooooooo slow coming off, I have been doing the curves diet for 2wks and it has introducted me to snacks and even cheese and so far I have lost 7lbs. Before this I had lost nothing for 6mths.

Today I am having a protein shake and snack bar for breakfast, Snack 15g of nuts, Lunch haddock salad, snack low fat soft cheese and cucumber and dinner will be something with salmon.

meandjoe · 08/04/2010 18:26

Oooh Facepalm, that chicken sounds gorgeous! Yum, think I will have a go at making that and it sounds like something ds and dh would enjoy too, although dh would probably end up needing about 3 portions just to himself!

Anyway, haven't eaten too well today as I ate a bag of roast chicken crisps which I really fancied but I am still within my calorie limit for the day even though my choices have not really been particularly healthy ones!

I am gonna invest in the 30 day shred, it sounds very intense though, I'm scared already!

QOD · 08/04/2010 19:02

Well, today I had porridge for brekkie - bleugh 2 plain pitta and half pot hoummous for lunch
1 rich tea bix
and for dinner I made a huge pot of pasta with bologneise sauce and loads of veg with a smidgen of grated cheese on top.
POssibly not brilliant but hey - amazing for me!

shortandsweet2 · 09/04/2010 06:49

QOD well done!! It looks like you had a great day.

meandjoe - at one stage I wanted to stop for a drink of water and at the same time she told me to keep going and not to stop - really weird she knew exactly when you would want to stop
Will let you know tomorrow how killing stage 2 is

Fimbles5 · 09/04/2010 20:30

Hello everyone - just stumbled across this thread whilst searching for some info on slimfast and was wondering whether I could join you all?? I am planning to start slimfast tomorrow but am feeling very nervous. I am a binge eater/yo-yo dieter with confidence and self esteem at rock bottom. I need to lose about two stone but would initially like to lose about 5lbs this week (I know I'm being optimistic aren't I?). Facepalm - TMI personal question coming up (you don't have to answer) Did you find that slimfast affected the amount of times you went to the loo

simmo39 · 09/04/2010 21:00

sounds like everyone is being pretty good and positive
Pigged out yesterday, it was my 40th birthday and the day did not start good as spotted a few greys hairs that had to be plucked out immediately. It continued with lunch out (with a few chips) chocolates and a chinese take away and 2 large glasses of Champagne. the worst thing was I didn't even feel guilty, I kind of felt like I deserved it and that as it was my birthday that it was ok.....
So today I am back on track and have eaten just my GoLower food. Got AF at the moment and feel really bloated and horrid. Am not sure if will manage Davina tonight might just try to do some sits up before bed, might help with the stomach cramps.

shortandsweet2 · 10/04/2010 08:17

Welcome fimbles - also I find when you start any new diet it can be hard to go to the loo so if you just add 2 teaspoons of linseeds per day to a yoghurt or something you stay regular.

Simmo glad you had a great day and of course you deserved it you have come so far!!! happy birthday btw

I have so far lost 3st 4lbs so thats a further 2lbs off this week

Fimbles5 · 10/04/2010 12:04

Thankyou shortandsweet for the warm welcome. You have all done fantastically well - over 3stone lost is amazing. I hope I can learn from you all X

FacePalm · 10/04/2010 12:28

Fimbles5 welcome

And to answer your question, i honestly did not notice any difference.

OP posts:
meandjoe · 10/04/2010 15:55

Simmo, hope you had a lovely birthday! Yep I agree you deserved a treat!

Welcome Fimbles5.

Well done shortandsweet for the 2lbs loss. I hve lost another 2lbs this week so that's just over a stone since I started so I am very happy.

Loving the nice weather, makes it much easier to get out and excercise abit with ds! We had a lovely walk up the hill to town today and went swimming. Spending the rest of the day clearing and mowing the lawn which should burn a bit of fat!

shortandsweet2 · 11/04/2010 10:13

Morning all

Well I did stage 2 of the DVD and have to say it did tire me out but don't ache as much today as I did after stage 1 so think I will be mixing it up between them. I am going to try stage 3 tomorrow just to see what its like.

ClaireDeLoon · 12/04/2010 11:28

Morning all, weigh in today and lost nothing this week but not going to get down and give up! I didn't track my points very well last week so I know that is why I did not lose. Still at 5lbs off 3 weeks in.

I got my new sports bra sorted so I'm ready to start 30 day shred again tonight. Those who have started it - did you manage to do it all the way through right from the start?

shortandsweet2 · 12/04/2010 15:34

Hi Claire

I have found I have got through every stage. I suppose it depends on how fit you are but she is good because as soon as your ready to give up he gets you going again

Good luck with it and let us know what you think of it.

ClaireDeLoon · 12/04/2010 16:14

Thanks shortandsweet, just been reading through the last few days of the thread and it's really inspired me!

simmo39 · 13/04/2010 21:47

Well the eating is going ok but not the exercising, just been too tired. Back on the sit ups before bed tonight. Am still really enjoying my food delivered from GoLower and it is good that they bring out new meals to try. I am currently addicted to the smoked Haddock soup!
I put on a pound last week my first gain since starting GoLower, but last week was a bit naughty so hoping I lose that and more this week.
meandjoe - well done on your 2lb off and reaching a stone
ClaireDeLoon - how did you get on with the 30 day shred?

meandjoe · 14/04/2010 15:16

Hi ladies, how's eveyone doing?

ClaireDeLoon, did you do the 30 day shred? I keep meaning to buy it but it does sound very intense and I want to see if I can ease myself into any kind of excercise into my life consistantly for a few weeks first.

Excercise is my main downfall, I just always seem to have better things to do which is very lazy of me!

I have been making a conscious effort to move more and be more active. Today I walked with the pushchair up a very steep hill behind our house (purely to excercise, just fancied a walk!) and then while dh was sorting ds' lunch I went for a 20 minute bike ride which doesn't sound like long but it nearly killed me . Has really high lighted how unfit I am for my age!

I have noticed now I have lost a stone that I fit much easier into my clothes. I tried my wedding dress on for the first time since we got married 4 yrs ago and it was too big which was a nice feeling! I have to say I still can't really see a difference though although their must be as I am not bulging out of my clothes anymore. Will be nice when I can by size 12s instead of 14s and actually feel nice in a dress etc.

Simmo, I wouldn't worry about a pound, it was your birthday! It will come off in no time now your back with the healthy eating.

I haven't done too bad with eating this week so far. I haven't been stuffing my face and eating junk food and takeaways so that's always good but did have a bit of chocolate yesterday. Not sure if I'll lose anything altohugh I have been making my portion sizes smaller at meal times, will find out on Saturday.

Hope it's going well for you all.

simmo39 · 14/04/2010 21:54

meandjoe - I am sure you will lose sounds like you are having a good week so far. It is so nice when your clothes start to fit better and the muffin top goes! Wow how nice to be able not only to fit in your wedding dress but it be too big, you must feel great.

I am not beating myself up over the pound gain as it was worth it and I knew it was going to be a naughty week. I am surprised how easy I have found it to get back on my diet, ususally once I fall of the wagon that is it, disaster! But I really enjoy the GoLower meals so that definitely helps. Not sure what the scales will say on Friday, but they never lie.....

Not sure what the sc

ClaireDeLoon · 14/04/2010 22:11

30 day shred hard work, feel like giving up 2 mins in when she's making you do push ups (I just caaaaaaaannnnnn't, said in a whiney voice) but when you're near the end it feels good to know you are nearly done and you've managed it.

I don't think I'm pushing myself hard enough with it as I'm not massively achey but I really feel it when doing it. I figure even if it takes me 90 days to see the results not 30 as long as I keep going and my strength and fitness improve then that's OK.

meandjoe you're doing great - glad you're seeing the results, with your clothes etc. I wonder the same as you about my portion sizes btw.

simmo I love smoked haddock soup, sounds like a good diet if you get that! Good luck for Friday weigh day

shortandsweet2 · 15/04/2010 07:34

Morning all

Claire glad you started the 30 day shread, it is good going. I have tried all 3 stages and found the next day I really ached but each stage worked different muscles so I will take it in turns for each.

Diet is going ok but at a friends to night and wine/pizza will be on the menu. Don't know how I will do but was thinking of having a half bottle of wine and 2 slices of pizza

FacePalm · 15/04/2010 09:21

I am still at 13 stone 4! Tbh I had put a few pounds on over Easter, but I am back on track again. Not done the dvd for a few days, I am full of cold, and have my two teenage nieces staying with me! so not much chance to get it done really.

Anyway, back on track, next target..to be able to say I am 12 stone something!

Well done everyone, it seems we are all determined to keep it going.

OP posts:
simmo39 · 15/04/2010 21:23

shortandsweet2 - ooh enjoy your pizza and wine, I would be quite tipsy after half a bottle. Might have a small glass of wine tomorrow night as am allowed the odd one. All things in moderation (except carbs )

Well done Faceplam for getting back on track, me too.

Had a good day today, had bacon eggs and couple of mushrooms for brekkie. Lunch a tex mex soup and green salad, and for dinner sausage casserole. Too full for my snacks, might have a couple of chocolate brazil nuts in a minute with a coffee and cream. GoLower e-mailed me their latest news sheet and there were some good success stories on there that have spurred me on.

ClaireDeLoon · 16/04/2010 14:29

Hey all!

Well done for getting back on track Facepalm, only five pounds to go before you can say 12 stone something

shortandsweet I hoped you enjoyed your evening, I was out last night and this morning was wishing I had stopped at half a bottle of wine

simmo your nrekkie sounds lovely compared to my special K sustain!

I did the 30 day shred again this morning and it seems to have worked off my hangover and I'm feeling massively energetic so think I may go for a good long walk or get the wii fit out

meandjoe · 16/04/2010 19:20

Oh wow you're all so motivated and energetic! Well done on the 30 day shred Claire.

Simmo, your meals sound delicious! I am still very tempted by golower. Must be very nice to hear other people's successes.

Not doing too bad here. I went swimming last night which was good and today I went walking with ds again and am determined to do some toning excercises and sit ups now ds has gone to bed.

I am seriously wanting to invest in a Wii fit, does anyone know if they are any good and how accurate the scales are on them?

simmo39 · 16/04/2010 21:36

ClaireDeLoon - I am impressed, doing the 30 day shred to work off a hangover!!! The best thing for me was always a MacDonalds Milkshake (oh joy!!) Was worth getting drunk the night before just for one the next day. But hey that was in my wild days I am now sensible, ok ok I just can no longer handle the hangovers...

meandjoe - the GoLower food is good not sure if I mentioned it but if you want to give them a try just mention my name and you will get 10% off all of your food. They call it an ambassador refferal or something, but I also get £25 off so it helps me too!

The Wii fit sounds so good, just haven't got the money at the moment to get one, and my Davina DVD and nightly sit ups is enough for now. Maybe I can convince my DH to treat me to one if when I reach my goal weight.

On another thread there was a debate as to how accurate the Wii scales are...
