need to lose at least 4 stone

FacePalm · 08/03/2010 12:06

I have had two children in 26 months, and my youngest is 8 months old. I have actually put on a stone since she was born! I also breastfeed! So , so much for that!

Anyway, last week I was 14 stone 3lbs! The heaviest I have ever been in my life!

I decided I really needed to do something about it properly this time. I want to lose at least 4 stone, initially, which will give me a bmi of 25.

I have started SlimFast, and in the first week have lost 6lbs.

It is going ok for me so far, I was a terrible eater in the day, would barely eat till the afternoon, when I might have some toast or a sandwich, but then once dh was home from work, eat a huge evening meal or take out, crisps, chocolate!

So, now I am having the meal replacement bars for Breakfast and lunch, and 3 snacks a day and trying to drink lots of water, then a 600 calorie evening meal.

I hate how I look at the moment. I have suffered quite badly with PND since my youngest was born, and part of this has manifested itself into my fear of leaving the house on my own with my two children. I think, that the fact that I hate how I look, and think people are laughing at me because of this, does not really help me recover.

So, I hope you all do not mind me joining you in this section.

meandjoe - well done 7 lb in 2 1/2 weeks is great! Keep going....

ClaireDeloon - dress is a shift style in a bright teal colour with 3 circles of sequins down the front. They had in our local branch shop window for ages and I used to look at it longingly every time I walked past, and now I have it, yeah!!! Bought some very unsexy hold you in girdle knickers to wear aswell and although they obviously don't conceal my large tummy , they give me a smoother shape. Quite surprised the shift style suited me, but guess it kind of skims my shape rather than cling to it.
Well done on your weight loss too....

Facepalm - are you still doing slimfast?

Had a yummy dinner tonight, thai prawn curry and green veg, just ate 2 small squares of dark chocolate think I now prefer it to milk chocolate....

FacePalm · 30/03/2010 22:59

HI, yeah im still doing Slimfat. but we slipped up last week through one thing and another.

I am doing ok on it, i always have one of the meal replacement bars for breakfast, and sometimes one for lunch, sometimes cereal, or soup, as long as it is not mroe than 200 calories. I have found lots of lovely 600 cal meals i can do too.....

Hi everyone

I?ve not been around for a while as been really busy with work etc and miss my chatting time so it?s nice to be back.

Thanks meandjoe for your kind words. You will get there. This has taken me since October so it does take time. In the past I have also found it hard to keep to diets but Go Lower is so easy to keep to. I admit the first few days were hard but once I got past that it has been a breeze. I won?t lie, I have had cravings in that time but I have managed to get through them pretty easily and not cheated majorly. I do feel really proud of what I have done though. I haven?t felt this good in ages and it has made me a much happier and confident person generally. As well as feeling slimmer I also have so much more energy and get up and go now. It?s such a great feeling. Sorry you are going through a hard stage, it is natural. You know we are all here to listen if you need to talk. 7lbs in two weeks is brilliant.

Thanks FacePalm too. Did you buy the jeans in a smaller size? How many sizes smaller are they than you are now? Your chicken orange sounds yummy. It sounds as if you really deserved the meal out with your DH, I?m pleased it was so lovely. I hope everyone are feeling better now.

Simmo, that is a brilliant weight loss, 5 lbs in one week. That is so sweet what your DS said but it must have made you feel great. I agree it is so nice and easy just taking the packets out and warming them up. That is part of the reason why I keep putting off starting making more of my own meals as it?s so easy and they are so lovely but I am at a stage now where I really need to as weight loss has really slowed down. You are doing well with the exercise. That?s great news that the dress you had your eye on fits nicely and happy 40th birthday for next week.

ClaireDeLoon / Knat ? Hi and good luck. It sounds as if you have got off to a great start.

Katie10 ? Your personal trainer sounds great. I always imagine them to be really expensive though.

mummymels · 31/03/2010 21:39

I was so tired when posting last night that I didn't update on myself. The last couple of weeks I have just lost 1/2 lb each week so weight loss really slowed down.

Having said that, from this week now I am not eating mainly the Go Lower food anymore, I'm making mostly my own food too. Well, I have just started doing this since Monday so it's still new and we'll see how it goes. I have to admit the first couple of days I haven't been very good. It must be the freedom lol! We have had a religious holiday which involved a big family meal and I was very naughty and indulged in one roast potato each of the two days. Feeling a bit guilty now but couldn't say no.

meandjoe · 01/04/2010 08:08

Mummymels, good to hear you are still losing weight, albeit more slowly! I think it's only natural that the weight loss will slow down and you're doing amazingly well. Don't feel guilty about a roast potato! It's understandable that on special occassions you will treat yourself. Easter this Sunday will be tough for me becuae ds will be having his chocolate egg (which will automatically make me want chocolate!) and we'll be having a big roast turkey lunch so will have to watch the amount of mash and roast potatoes I prepare for dh and ds or else I will end up eating the left overs! Good luck with preparing your own food, it's good that you're at a stage where you can do yor own food and perhaps indulge yourself a bit, knowing that you have worked hard and you deserve it! How much more are you wanting to lose?

Anyway, been a bit quiet on here lately, hope that doesn't mean we are all struggling and have given up! I had a bad weekend and ate way too much again but managed to stop myself at 1700 calories which is far more than I'd like but hopefully not enough to have actually gained back any weight that I have already lost.

Well better go prepare breakfast. Hope everyone is doing well.

simmo39 · 01/04/2010 17:06

Well done Mummymels, ooh bet those roasties tasted good!
How do you feel now that you have lost so much weight? Have you treated yourself to a new wardrobe? Bet your friends and family are so pleased and proud of you, it is such a great achievement. How are you finding the support from GoLower now that you are almost at your goal weight. Did they help much with recipies and support? I guess you are not spending so much money with them now you are making your own food.....I am so looking forward to being nearer my goal weight. You know I only heard about GoLower through a friend, had never heard of them before but I think it is such a great diet and idea too.
meandjoe - I know this weekend is going to be a toughie, I have asked DH to tell everyone NOT to buy me an Easter egg. (he is going to get me a small bar of dark chocolate) the thing is its my birthday next week and most years I get so many Chocolate eggs as presents. Not that I complained much in the past, I even used to hint at the ones I wanted! But I am reformed and going to be good! (If I say it, it will happen....)

meandjoe · 01/04/2010 20:59

Well simmo hope you have a lovely chocolate free Easter and birthday! Good to hear you are still sticking with it and are officially a 'reformed character' .

I have been extremely good today but I feel knackered so to stop me from just snacking and eating junk while ds is in bed I am thinking of having an early night!

FacePalm · 05/04/2010 20:54

Down to 13 stone 4! Slowed down a lot, but my dvd will arrive in the morning, so hopefully that will help keep me on track! Although we went to Cadbury World today!

But back to being really good tomorrow...i am determined to be in the 12s by next week!

How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
simmo39 · 06/04/2010 14:24

Well done Facepalm, my sister lives round the corner from Cadbury world but I have never been there. Was it good?
I weighed myself last friday and was another 4 lb off
Had my small dark chocolate bar on Sunday evening, very yummy. At the moment we have a cupboard full of Easter Eggs, DH said he might melt all the chocolate and make chcoclate corn flake cakes with them! At least I can put them in a cake tin out of sight....
Was fairly good at my 40th party on Saturday. Ate a bit of food but stuck to the chicken mainly. Had a couple of glasses of wine and one baileys and tia maria so a bit naughty there, but hey it was my party.
It is my actual 40th on Thursday so again I won't be quite so strict with myself on the day......Do not anticipate a great weigh loss this week but as long as I don't put on that is ok for 1 week.

meandjoe · 06/04/2010 18:46

Lost 6 lbs this week but have been very good and actually finding it very easy to resist temptation now (touch wood!) I am finding it easier to go for the healthier options when out and about too which is good. Still craving the odd Archers and lemonade but so far have not caved in! Even managed to resist the offer of an Indian takeaway tonight from dh..... [proud] I love Indian food!!!!

How is everyone doing? Glad you enjoyed your 40th dinner and hope you have a good birthday simmo39.

Well done Facepalm, fingers crossed you are in the 12s by next week x

FacePalm · 06/04/2010 19:21

well done simmo39 and meandjoe

Cadbury World was good Simmo39, but very busy!

Did the 30 day shred for the first time today, was hard, but I just kept telling myself it was only 20 mins! My muscles, esp in my arms felt quite shaky and weak after, but I feel fine now! Will probably feel it in the morning! Right now i just have the little twinge on my muscles that makes me know I have done something!

OP posts:
simmo39 · 06/04/2010 21:12

Wow MeandJoe that is fantastic!!! Well done! A good week is definitely a great motivator keep going
Facepalm - let me know how you get on with the 30 day shred, I am still doing Davina but be good to have something different to try.
I have eaten well today, had granola, greek yogurt and strawberries for brekkie. Couple of go lower snack bars during the day, tex mex soup for lunch and green salad, and for dinner go lower sausage casserole. Feel quite stuffed. Don't think I could manage Davina tonight but will do my sits ups before bed. Feel so tired this week, DD is still waking in the night!

shortandsweet2 · 07/04/2010 07:21

Morning all

Can I join you please? I have just ordered the 30 day shred and I am following the curves diet.

So far I have lost 3st 2lb but has taken me 2 years to get here.

Everyone is doing so well with there fab losses.

FacePalm · 07/04/2010 08:56

Welcome shortandsweet2

well, im not in as much pain as I thought I would be today after the dvd...everything just feels nicely achey if you know what I mean, not agony, but more than enough to feel I did something! Although it hurts a tad more when going up stairs! I will be doing it again today, I really do want to try and do it everyday really, it is only 20 minutes, but it just does not stop! no breaks lol. We go on holiday in the Autumn, the entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins...and I really want to relax and not think how horrible I look at the beach!

OP posts:
shortandsweet2 · 07/04/2010 15:58

Thanks facepalm.

I got my DVD today and did level 1 which has just gotten my calves a little sore, may move up to level 2, will see how I feel tomorrow.

FacePalm · 07/04/2010 18:15

I did it again today, at level 1.....I felt, even after one day I could keep up better, however I am starting from a very unfit starting point..so will keep to level 1 for at least 10 days...then move up.

Impressed with myself I have done it 2 days in a row!! There really is no excuse as it is so short!

Ah well, Chicken in Orange cream tonight with new potatoes!! Yummy!

OP posts:
FacePalm · 07/04/2010 18:16

oohhh...actually, I got a box of animal biscuits from Cadbury world! 6 animal biscuits is only 100 cals in total! So I had those as one of my snacks!! Very pleased with that! lol

OP posts:
QOD · 07/04/2010 18:21

I think I love you all.
I went to the Drs today for my next visit on my gastric band request route.... I know, I know "the cheats method" but I am so fat I am seriously scared I might explode.
I can barely walk up a slope, my back hurts when I do walk and I wheeze.
I don't want to die.
I got weighed today and the gp scales didn't go high enough
Think I must have hit 19stone now and i am 5f(at) 1

Help me be strong

shortandsweet2 · 07/04/2010 18:41

Oooo face palm could I have the recipe for the chicken in orange? and would it work with Lemon. Well done on the 2nd day in a row you are doing sooo well. The DVD is great for exercise as you have the different levels. Shall you be doing it again tomorrow. I won't as I will be going to the gym.

QOD - we all have to start somewhere, I started at 16st 3lb and I am 5ft 1in and has been very hard at times.
Could you not start somewhere like slimming world? You can do this, start tomorrow by throwing out all junk put washing liquid over the top when its in the bin so you can't go back to it.

Breakfast could be porridge and fruit
Snack - low fat soft cheese and cucumber/carrot sticks
Lunch - Chicken salad with a very small amount of grated cheese
Snack - Yoghurt or some fruit
Dinner - Fish with lots of veg and small amount of carbs.

How does this sound?? keep coming on here and posting what you eat, any questions or you need any help just give us a shout.

meandjoe · 07/04/2010 19:21

Welcome QOD and Shortand sweet!

Shortandsweet, sounds like you're going very well.

Wekk done Facepalm on doing the DVD again. I really will have to get my bum moving more!

QOD sounds like you are finding things hard. Shortandsweet gave some good advice, any WeightWatcers or Slimming World clubs near you that could maybe give you a kick start and set you on the road to weight loss? I am thinking if oyu are considering surgery then you have probably tried it all before though. I think once you decide enough is enough then I am sure you can be successful whichever route you choose. Good luck and keep us pisted with your progress.

Had a very good day here. Have had very healthy food and not really snacked on anything other than strawberries which strangely enough I found to be quite filling and satisfying! DS loved them too which meant I had to share .

I am beginning to get a little obsessed with the scales again though now I can see the numbers coming down a lot. I think I may need dh to take them to work in the boot of his car tomorrow to stop me from hopping on them to weigh myself everytime I have a drink or a bite to eat. It's ridiculous how addictive I find them .

meandjoe · 07/04/2010 19:22

My typing is terrible sorry guys!

shortandsweet2 · 07/04/2010 19:41

Thanks meandjoe, the weighing yourself 50 times a day does start to go after about 2mths
I am still a daily weigher 1st thing in the morning and can't help it

Also really recommend the 30 day shred and was only £6.99 delivered from Amazon.

QOD · 07/04/2010 20:12

Thanks peeps. DD and i just went for a walk, well... we opened the front door and shut it again. It's peeing with rain damn it.
But I have forced myself to be more active today and am NOT NOT NOT snacking.
Hoummous and a pitta or 2 for lunch tomorrow (not the cooked brekkie I usually pretend I don't buy at work)
And I WILL eat breakfast at home too.
I will be back!

FacePalm · 07/04/2010 20:14

Oh that sounds so yummy! Any idea how many carbs are in it? Can't be that many...might give it a go.
Hi QOD and Shortandsweet - keep posting and let us know how you are getting on. I am doing a diet with a company called GoLower it is LC, Low GI and GL and yummy! They deliver the food to me every 2 weeks and so far it is going really well. Good luck to you both
