need to lose at least 4 stone

FacePalm · 08/03/2010 12:06

I have had two children in 26 months, and my youngest is 8 months old. I have actually put on a stone since she was born! I also breastfeed! So , so much for that!

Anyway, last week I was 14 stone 3lbs! The heaviest I have ever been in my life!

I decided I really needed to do something about it properly this time. I want to lose at least 4 stone, initially, which will give me a bmi of 25.

I have started SlimFast, and in the first week have lost 6lbs.

It is going ok for me so far, I was a terrible eater in the day, would barely eat till the afternoon, when I might have some toast or a sandwich, but then once dh was home from work, eat a huge evening meal or take out, crisps, chocolate!

So, now I am having the meal replacement bars for Breakfast and lunch, and 3 snacks a day and trying to drink lots of water, then a 600 calorie evening meal.

I hate how I look at the moment. I have suffered quite badly with PND since my youngest was born, and part of this has manifested itself into my fear of leaving the house on my own with my two children. I think, that the fact that I hate how I look, and think people are laughing at me because of this, does not really help me recover.

So, I hope you all do not mind me joining you in this section.

Oh my Goodness 63.5 lbs mummymels!!!!! Wow that must feel amazing. The problem I have is that I never stay focused on a diet for long enough for me to really SEE the difference in my body so I always fall off the wagon but you must be able to see and feel and amazing difference. I can not imagine how proud you must be but well done!

Hopefully we'll all have some similar successes to share someday. I am hoping to lose about 40lbs but it feels so far away that I can't actually visualise myself doing it which is bad. I haven't been that size since I was at college so I can't even remember how it felt or how I looked really.

Anyway, had another good day with food yesterday. Haven't had a stupid bingey day for a while now and actually I am feeling stronger because of that. I always find the day after pigging out on junk food , I am more likely to do the same the next day because I have lost all motivation so the cycle continues. I guess I just have to be really strict with myself.

Will be really glad when my clothes feel a bit loser and I am looking a bit trimmer. Hopefully by summer I will have lost a fair bit and not be hiding under my baggy clothes again this year.

I really need to stop stepping on the scales every day! I have not lost since Monday, my official weight day, and I'm getting a bit down about it, and I've been very good!

Myself and dh are going out on Saturday night for a meal! Bit worried about it, but I will make sure I choose carefully, nothing with a lot of sauce and plenty of veg. It will be our first night out together without children for 18 months!

Mymmymels - that is brilliant, you must be so proud of yourself!

I have been thinking I might buy myself a lovely pair of jeans or something, in a size I want to be...and they can be my goal to reach...not sure how good an idea that might be...but I'm quite liking it, I keep imagining myself once I finally get into them, I would be very happy, not that I have bought them yet though!

Meandjoe - Glad to hear things are going well for you.

Simmo39 - sounds like you are doing well too, and sounds good about the go lower making changes.

Weighed myself this morning, 5 lbs off, I can't believe it. Although I thought it might be good as a new pair of trousers I bought 2 weeks ago are already getting bsggy. I kept getting on the scales today as I just found it hard to believe.

Had lovely grilled steak and salad for dinner and a Golower soup for lunch. Try to have my own food when I can, as I know what you mean Mummymels, it is so easy to have Go~Lower food all the time as they are so tasty. Most days my DS has a taste of them as he thinks they are yummy too! Fortunately he is too young to ask why I have something different, and made me chufed the other day when he said 'mummy your tummy is shrinking'

Facepalm - buying something in a smaller size is a good idea, whatever works for you is worth trying. Staying focused is the hardest thing. And enjoy your meal out with your DH, wow after waiting 18 months you should really enjoy it. Hope you find something fairly good on the menu.

FacePalm · 21/03/2010 19:04

Simmo39 that is good! Well Done

We had a meal out last night! I did ok, I had the fish starter, then the spicy seabass, but it came with a head! I really cannot eat my food when it is staring at me, so had to send it back to have it removed! i am a wimp!! I was naughty and had a pudding! But as I said it was my first night out with just dh and no children in 18 months. We had a lovely time.

Had a very good day today, We are having chicken in orange cream with rice! Only 350 calories in total, so I get to have 250 calories of something after! But I will wait and see how I feel after I think. If im not hungry no need to have something, and will make up a bit for yesterday I would think.

Hey everyone, had a pretty rubbish weekend with food. Also had 2 Archers and Lemonades last night too which must be laden with sugar and calories! . Seem to have lost a bit of motivation as it feels like a lot of hard work at the moment. I know I need to get back on track though. Today I have started fresh and trying not to beat myself up too much about my weekend of scoffing. Hard though. I alwys find it so hard at this stage when I've been dieting for a few weeks but still can not see any physical changes. This is normally about the time I give up and eat crap again so i am needing to come on here and confess to afar too much of everything over the weekend and hopefully will be able to eat better today. Feel a bit crap about it all really. I have done next to no excercise either which isn't helping... I just keep putting it off. I really need a kick up the bum!

FacePalm · 22/03/2010 08:55

Meandjoe....as you say, today is a new day, and don't beat yourself up about the weekend..I understand what you mean about being at the point where you have been doing it a few weeks, but don't really see a difference. I just think, it can only get better..and while we may not see a physical difference, other people can.

As for me, I have lost another 2lbs, so that is a total of 11lbs...I think I need to start exercising so as not to come to a complete stop, so I am going to get that 30 day shred dvd this week, and start that soon too.

OP posts:
meandjoe · 22/03/2010 11:50

Thanks Facepalm, I know this is the point I always give up but I am not going to this time because I know if I do I will spend yet another summer hating my legs and wishing I had done something about it... next thing I know it will be Christmas again and I will have gained yet more weight and feel even worse. I know it's time to make the change and just stick to it. Glad you enjoyed your night out, sounds like you weight loss is going great. Well done! Guess we just have to all keep going!

ClaireDeLoon · 22/03/2010 18:07

You are all doing so well!

I started diet today and also tried (and didn't do very well at) the 30 day shred dvd. It's hard work!

FacePalm · 22/03/2010 19:18

ClaireDeLoon - Good luck on your diet.

We are doing ok here, it is surprisingly easy to get a 600 cal meal! Last night we had chicken in orange cream with rice, and tonight, chicken myers and potatoes!

Ive heard the 30 day shred has 3 lvls, but even the first lvl is hard? But, what makes me like the sound of it, is it is only 20 minutes! Makes it easy for me to fit in for the tiny portion of the day when my two decide to nap at the same time!

OP posts:
simmo39 · 22/03/2010 22:47

Facepalm - no I don't like fish served with the head on, yuk! You would think the waiter would ask but they don't seem to.
I haven't been out for a meal since I started my GoLower diet, DH said we should go out on my birthday. There is a pretty good restaurant locally that does the most amazing King Prawns so will probably go there as they will be ok on LC diet. Will have to avoid the puddings though they are to die for!
Have been good and doing my sit ups every night, think it is helping as my tummy aches, but no sign of any six pack yet need to lose another 3 stone before they show Gonna do a good clean of the house tomorrow which I always count as a work out and if not too exhausted will do Davina aswell.
In between all this will pluck from the cupboard my breakfast lunch and dinner in lovely little cartons. It is nice not having to think about this diet and just popping it straight in the oven knowing it has all been cleverly worked out for me....

meandjoe · 24/03/2010 08:30

Simmo the diet ou are on sounds so easy. It must be nice taking out all the guess work on portion sizes etc. Must be good not haveing to spend the whole day planning meals and calorie counting!

knat · 24/03/2010 09:39

hi just thought i'd post - feeling v miserable right now about weight. Last year i lost 4 stone with weight watchers in 5 months! Comfortable size 12 - felt fabulous - thought this is it i know what to do don't want to go back to before - 12 months on - back to original weight - all 4 stone back on!!!!!! Why do I do this!!! I've decided ww is not the answer or any other diet! It obviously doesn't work as I wouldn't be where I am now. I think small changes ie portion size etc and trying not to snack between meals is the answer - the weight loss mayh be slower but maybe i'll be able to keep it off. i also amaze myself with what i can eat. I'm not even hungry and i'll eat and once i start i cannot stop!!! Hope you all get on well with your weight loss and good aluck!

katie10 · 24/03/2010 15:33

why dont you get someone to help you to start feeling good about yourself again?

I have a personal trainer come to my house to train me (I find gyms too intimidating) its affordable and well worth it. I had my baby not that long ago and signed up for special that they were doing and have a trainer twice a week, she even made me up an eating plan. The company is called Nowfitness. (www.nowfitness.co.uk)
It does wonders not just on the outside but really helps you to feel good again. You should try it. good luck babe xx

Joby1970 · 24/03/2010 16:44

Diets only work if you follow it thro for the rest of your life once you go back to normal eating of course the weight will go back on. You have to view any change as for ever - small steps that are easy to keep to & build on. (plus execise).

simmo39 · 24/03/2010 22:26

meanjoe - yes it is I am so pleased with it. Have tried lots of diets in the past and my day just becomes obsessed with food, what can I have, is this allowed, that allowed, weighing stuff out or doing red and greens, A + B, point counting and on and on!!!!! AaaaaHHHhhhh..........
Those days are gone, yippee

meandjoe · 25/03/2010 12:31

Sounds like we should all be doin Go Lower!!!! If only I could afford it!

Have been fairly good for the past couple of days. Even did some aerobics I found on Fitness TV channel last night. Was quite proud that I could actually keep up!

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well.

ClaireDeLoon · 25/03/2010 13:10

Go Lower does sound interesting. A friend of mine did the lighter life one (that also gives you food/meals etc) and she lost a lot on it.

I snuck on the scales today and it was showing 3lb off, but it's not weigh day until Monday and there is a weekend before then, but my online shop was full of healthy stuff and I'm going to make a tea loaf out of weightwatchers recipe book, it's very yummy have made it before.

simmo39 · 25/03/2010 21:18

meanjoe - I know what you mean about the cost but if I add up all the money I used to spend on 'bad' food it kind of works out the same. I also felt it was time to invest in my own health and happiness instead of always having something else that was more important. I decided that my health (physically and more importantly mentally) was and luckily my DH has supported that. I do suggest that you give them a call anyway as they tailor plans to suit the individual you might be pleasently surprised....Oh and I can get you 10% off as a referal.

Had a fab day today, went shopping for something new to wear for my 40th birthday party next Saturday. I have had my eye on a gorgeous dress in Monsoon for ages but kept putting of trying it on until I lost more weight. Well today I got it!! And it fits lovely, I am so happy

meandjoe · 26/03/2010 05:59

Oh congratulations on getting the perfect dress simmo! You'll have to post photos of it! It's an amazing feeling wearing something you have wanted for ages and having it fit beautifully. Been a long time since I have experienced it though .

I think you have a valid point about investing your health and mentality. It'strue actually, I was sat working out how much e soend on actualy food just for me, not to mention all the take aways etc. It adds up to more than go lower would cost. Definitely something to consider, thsnks for telling me about the 10% you could get me off the price too! I spoke to DH about it yesterday and he said if it' really what I want then I should go for it cos he knows I have been quite down about it all for a long time now.

Anyway, ds is going through a delightful waking up at 5:30am phase so I have even longer to go between meals now after such an early start!

simmo39 · 26/03/2010 23:00

meanjoe - you will get there, know what you mean about the early starts, DD is 9 mnths and still wakes in the night. DH keeps telling me to just turn the monitor off and let her cry through it but I just can't. And DS has been a nightmare going to bed this week, he keeps getting back up. He is in our bed upstairs now with DH watching toy story on DVD!

Weighed myself this morning, 3 lb off so not as good as last week but I am still pleased. Might try to cut down on my Golower treats next week or have them earlier in the evenings to see if that helps. I just find it hard not to eat anything during the evening, do like to have a little treat at the end of the day....

meandjoe · 27/03/2010 08:38

Oh dear sounds like you're getting rough nights too simmo! My ds is 2.7 and has until very recently slept perfectly at night (about the only thing we haven't had issues with!) but just lately he's waking up in the night just wanting cuddles then waking up crying to start the day at 5:30. Way too early!

Know what you mean about the leaving her to cry thing though, I could never bring myself to do it.... still can't even now ... I amways convince myself that he must be crying for a reason, maybe ill or had a nightmare or just need comforting, either way it's sort of our job to fix it! It's knackering though. Just makes me want to eat junk!

I think 3 lbs is a fantastic weight loss! I am getting weighed today... not expecting miracles but would like to have lost some, even just a pound off would be nice!

meandjoe · 27/03/2010 13:12

Got weighed and I've lost 2lbs this week which is fine by me considering I have not been excercising as much as I would like to. That's 7lbs off since I started diet 2 and half weeks ago. Making slow progress in the right direction!

FacePalm · 27/03/2010 13:19

well done Meandjoe...that is brilliant!

My weigh day is Monday, so we will see how much I've lost, I'm at 11lbs so far, I really hope I've made that first stone though by Monday!

My DD is waking a lot at night at the moment too! She is nearly 10 months old, but we co sleep, but im thinking it is time to move her to her cot, as when she wakes, she isnt upset, just wants to play! So if she is in her cot, she can crawl around all she likes in the middle of the night, but she wont be crawling over me or elbowing me in the face! lol

ClaireDeLoon · 30/03/2010 12:25

Simmo what is your dress like? I love monsoon dresses but never felt able to wear one, maybe if I can shift a stone or two by the time of a friends wedding in the summer I'll risk trying one on.

Meandjoe congrats on the weight loss, 7lbs in 2 and a half weeks is great!

Monday was weigh day for me too, first week and lost 3lbs so very pleased but DREADING the Easter weekend. DP's family always buy each other eggs and include me (lovely of them I know) so that means I will have about 4 easter eggs. And DP is trying to lose weight too so can't even palm them off on him. And we're ttc our first so no children to eat them either!

FacePalm · 30/03/2010 18:29

well, yesterday was my weigh day, and i had lost nothing! we had a bad few days though, we have all been bad with colds, so not eating right, and it has really showed! So back to being really good this week! I really want to reach 14lbs lost..im at 11 currently!

Well done on your weight loss ClaireDeLoon.
