need to lose at least 4 stone

FacePalm · 08/03/2010 12:06

I have had two children in 26 months, and my youngest is 8 months old. I have actually put on a stone since she was born! I also breastfeed! So , so much for that!

Anyway, last week I was 14 stone 3lbs! The heaviest I have ever been in my life!

I decided I really needed to do something about it properly this time. I want to lose at least 4 stone, initially, which will give me a bmi of 25.

I have started SlimFast, and in the first week have lost 6lbs.

It is going ok for me so far, I was a terrible eater in the day, would barely eat till the afternoon, when I might have some toast or a sandwich, but then once dh was home from work, eat a huge evening meal or take out, crisps, chocolate!

So, now I am having the meal replacement bars for Breakfast and lunch, and 3 snacks a day and trying to drink lots of water, then a 600 calorie evening meal.

I hate how I look at the moment. I have suffered quite badly with PND since my youngest was born, and part of this has manifested itself into my fear of leaving the house on my own with my two children. I think, that the fact that I hate how I look, and think people are laughing at me because of this, does not really help me recover.

So, I hope you all do not mind me joining you in this section.

For breakfast I had:

One small glass of orange juice
Iron tablet
Multi vit
Bowl of homemade muesli with soya milk
Cup of black earl grey tea

Did school run, came home and have eaten the following:

2 small pieces of wholemeal toast with butter and pate
Tea with milk
8 Krackawheat with the last of the pate
Funsize Twix (ancient from party bag found in cupboard)
Funsize Haribo (as above)
Packet of sweet chilli crisps (from DH's lunch box stock)
Tuna mayo and sweetcorn wrap (last wrap even though DD would have appreciated it for her lunch tomorrow)
Microwave chocolate pudding (serves two, or one greedy fat bint)
Pint of orange juice and water

And it is only 1.15pm. Cannot describe how much I hate myself right now. I am completely out of control.

Help

meandjoe · 11/03/2010 16:43

Oh don't hate yourself please! We've all been there. I ate an enormous pizza last night and felt really guilty. Today I have done much much better and feel really positive again. Tomorrow is a new day and all that!

MathsMadMummy · 11/03/2010 17:04

Aww Nora just forget about today, as meandjoe said, tomorrow is a new day! please don't hate yourself!

I have a 'moderation' approach to the less healthy food. I know there is no point in me saying I won't eat any of it because that just makes me think about it all the time! If I told myself I'd ban it, I'd crack PDQ and then feel awful. And so it'd continue... I'm mostly eating healthy food and I figure that's enough, I just need to move my lazy arse more

I also have a very well stocked fruit bowl and try to reach for that - and a glass of water - when I have the munchies. Even if I then have something a bit naughtier, at least I won't be as hungry and I know I've had something nutritious.

bloomingnora · 11/03/2010 18:28

Thanks for the kind words guys. I know that tomorrow is another day - just don't get why I binge so badly. It does feel like I am punishing myself. Very cathartic to post the entire food list like that - love the instant support. Beats a weekly slimming club! So ashamed but good to drag it out in the open. In retrospect, I think I was thirsty.

I know I'll do better when I can exercise more - am a sucker for those endorphins!

Hope everyone else had a better day. I'm pretty sure that mine wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't weighed myself and not had as good a result as yesterday. Am going to get DH to keep the scales in his car and then he can give them to me a maximum of once a week! Would prefer fortnightly or monthly weigh ins. Must stop the Bridget Jones-like obsessing!

simmo39 · 11/03/2010 21:07

Wel done for your honesty Bloomingnora I admire you. I think you have just got to write off today and go for it tomorrow.

I have my own food cupboard & draw in the fridge at home as mentally that helps me to know that although I cook for the whole family the food from the other cupboards is not mine. Think its psychological really. Helps having it all stacked up in nice containers from GoLower. Means I don't have to think too hard about what to cook and therefore don't spend most of my day thinking about food.

Gonna weight myself in the morning. Know what you mean about the scales I am obsessed about getting on them, but only take Friday mornings weights as the real result.

mummymels · 11/03/2010 22:00

Hi all, is there room for one more please?

I used to really overeat everything in sight and ate much to much chocolate and carbs but I started Go Lower in October and the weight has fallen off. I feel so much better for it. I never thought I would be able to give up the amounts of rubbish I ate but it is possible.

meandjoe · 12/03/2010 07:54

Hiya everyone, welcome mummymels. Sounds like you've done brilliantly. How much have you lost so far? Do you feel better for it?

I am another who needs to stop obsessing over te scales! Bought some on Monday and has actually really put me on a downer as I haven't really lost anything over the past 4 days of dieting . Think I'd be better without them and jut going to Boots to get weighed once a week like I used to. I stupidly thought the scales would spur me on a bit but it has sooo backfired. I keep telling myself that although they are weightwatchers scales, they may not be that accurate as the weight fluctuates quite a bit on them. But I am becomming rather obsessed with weighing myself before and after each wee just to see ifit makes any difference to my weight! . It's ridiculous cos if it shows I have lost a pund I am so happy, next time I need the loo it will say I have gained 2lbs and I am down again. I need to stop! lol

Anyway, NEW DAY! How's everyone doing?

bloomingnora · 12/03/2010 08:15

It's nice to be admired I thought everyone would just be

Scales are the work of the devil. I used to just weigh myself after aerobics at the gym once a week and keep the printouts to admire. Chances of getting to gym slim to none at the moment. Shall restart wii fit tonight (if I can fit it in around clusterfeeding DS2).

As you say, meandjo, New day! Let me at it!

FacePalm · 12/03/2010 11:14

I think if you fall off the wagon every now and then, it is ok, being able to jump back on the wagon the next day is the thing. So, putting it behind you and just starting a new day and forgetting about it is good, and having the strength to do it is very good. I am terrible for having a day like that, then chucking it all out the window and going back to my bad eating habits!

I am terrible for using the scales too, i think im at 4 times a day at the moment!! it is bad.

I have had a good couple of days, but im not happy, as dh has lost more than me, he has lost 8lbs in his first week!! i lost 6! It has upset me a bit tbh! I am a mean wife it appears! I may have to sneak full fat cream into his coffee instead of skimmed milk!

I think men always lose faster, I am married to one that has no weight problems and when we go shopping every outfit fits him, makes me sick. I refuse to go clothes shopping with him now until I have lost all my weight.

I am pleased to report had another good week, 4 lb off So that is now 27 1/2 in 7 weeks.

Welcome mummymels, I know you are on Golower too from another thread, how much have you got left to lose? Have you tried some of their new meals recently?

meandjoe · 14/03/2010 07:37

Blimey, 27lbs! Well done slimmo. My dh is the same with his weight, can wear anything and never has to worry about his diet at all..... I hate him for it! lol. I never let him go clothes shopping with me, which I am sure heis eternally grateful for actually.

Anyway, had a bad day yesterday. Ate way too much and feel really bloated today. I am back on track today though, determined not to ruin it. This week I have lost 4lbs so I am happy with that small step in the right direction.

FacePalm · 15/03/2010 10:17

i have lost another 3lbs, so a total of 9lbs lost so far. Feeling quite good.

bloomingnora · 15/03/2010 14:09

Well done! That is great going! You must feel very proud of yourself. Hell, I'm proud of you

I have had a dreadful few days food wise but have really turned things round today. I have eaten sensible portions and been healthy with a small treat midmorning. Been to Tesco and did weekly shop and it all looks yummy. Nutritious filling meals planned, lots of nice fresh fruit and veg. Remembering to drink lots which really helps. Hopefully when I weigh myself next week I will have a good loss to report! I'm controlling food not the other way round!

simmo39 · 15/03/2010 21:13

Wow! Looks like we are all heading in the right direction, well done everyone!

I need to drink more water, keep forgetting to make a bottle each day for the fridge, always find drinking it such an effort...

ClaireDeLoon · 17/03/2010 12:05

Hello can I join you please? I shocked myself this morning by getting on the scales and finding I weigh 14st 5lbs so I have 4 st to lose too.

I'm going to try weightwatchers - it worked for me in the past but I stopped going when I was half a stone off goal and never did the maintenance and the weight has gradually crept back on. I've been very down about a number of things lately and I think a big part of it is hating how I look.

I do no exercise but have bought a davina fit DVD and also just looked at exercise dvd thread in this section that recommends Jillian Michaels 30 day shred so will order that too so I don't get bored with just the same thing day in day out. I'd like to go swimming again but feel too fat to be seen in a swimsuit at the moment.

Anyway, I'd just like to kick start with a good first week, I will start Monday though as that is when meeting is.

bloomingnora · 17/03/2010 18:37

Hi Claire, I too was looking at the 30 day shred on amazon last night and thinking it was probably a bit tough for post c section but maybe soon! It sounds really good - short and sharp. I am missing being fit so much. I also can't quite make myself go swimming but really want to take DS2 as I think he will love it. Maybe we should just take the plunge

FacePalm · 17/03/2010 22:28

Welcome ClaireDeLoon

I have just had a look at the 30 day shred video, it looks good, and short! I have a cpl other dvd's, but they are just too long, so this one looks like it would be good for me at only 20 mins a time, it also seems to have very good reviews on Amazon.

Good Luck with weight watchers

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

Had a lovely long walk yesterday. Today I am treating everything as exercise eg running upstairs to get the washing. Also lifting DS2 over my head in reps of ten. He thinks it's hilarious and I get to bench press a 13lb weight!

I'm going to order 30 day shred and try it in a month or two. Getting the wii fit out tonight, will do that daily until feeling up to 30 day shred. It sounds like lots of abs stuff - anyone know when it is safe for me to do?

meandjoe · 18/03/2010 11:57

Hi

I am having a good few days re eating. Like you Bloomingnora I am treating everything as excercise, running upstairs and walking with ds. Really just trying to move more.

I am not going to weigh myself until Saturday again as I find it more rewarding to see a week's worth of weight loss rather than that half pound that keeps dropping and creeping back thorughout the day. I got a bit obsessed with the scales last week!

I am feeling pretty goos though, am feeling a bit fitter, not sure if it's just phsychological though.

I am finding it easier to resist eating the wrong foods as I know the minute after I have eaten it I will feel gross. I am trying to think that it will just be a memory of how good it tasted which I can already remember from the last time I ate it so there's no point in eating it if that makes sense? Basically trying to retrain myself not to eat everything in sight just cos it tastes good cos I already know how good it tastes and how bad it makes me feel!

Anyway, haven't been nearly as dedicated as some of you with the cideos and dvds but every little helps eh?!

Hope you are all OK.

meandjoe · 18/03/2010 11:59

sorry typos meant to say good not goos and videos not cideos.... u get the picture!

simmo39 · 18/03/2010 21:09

Been a bit lazy today on the exercise front but eating has gone well. Had a chat with my counsellor at GoLower today to disuss my next food order. They have recommended a few changes not because the diet isn't working but to ensure I continue to lose and don't plateau so I was quite pleased about that. Apparently you can plateau, which I know could happen but will be a bit disappointed if I do.
Will post my weight in tomorrow doing in the morning so hoping it will be good.

MeandJoe - know what you mean about remembering the taste of stuff to help you avoid it, I sometimes do that and it does really help.

mummymels · 18/03/2010 21:10

meandjoe ? Wow 4lbs is brilliant. Thanks. I?ve lost 63.5 lbs and yes I do feel so much better for it. I have so much more energy and feel so much better in myself. You need to get your DP to hide the scales and let you have them just once a week! I never get around to doing exercise either and I know I should but it is just a time factor with me. I do try and walk with the kids though as much as I can so as you say, every little bit helps. I did find it really hard to resist naughty foods at the beginning because I was a real snacker before and it look a lot of perseverance but once I got past the first few weeks cravings it has definitely got easier.

FacePalm ? Men always seem to lose it faster, it?s not fair! My DH isn?t dieting at the moment but before we got married we both did WW. I kept to it strictly whereas he did it as best he could but wasn?t strict and every week he lost more than me. 3lbs is a great loss.

simmo39 ? Wow brilliant loss for you this week. I would love to get down to 9 stone if I can. I haven?t been that weight since I was at uni! At the moment I am 10 stone 2.5 lbs but the last month or so the weight loss has really slowed down now. Yes, I tried the new fish one. I am not really a fish person but I gave it a go and it wasn?t bad at all considering I don?t normally like fish. Have you tried any new one? I also have to make an effort to drink enough water. I actually like water and drank mostly water before the diet but I always worry about having a glass of water on hand with the kids about as it is bound to get knocked over and it?s always such an effort to go and get it each time. Silly excuse I know!

Bloomingnora ? You sound very focussed.

ClaireDeLoon ? Welcome to the thread. It?s amazing how it can pile on so gradually sometimes that you don?t notice it happening. I can empathise with that.

mummymels · 18/03/2010 21:14

Simmo, I think our posts crossed. What changes have you made to your food order? I have started to plateau but I suppose there is only so long you can keep losing so fast before it naturally slows down.

simmo39 · 18/03/2010 21:31

Hi Mummymels, wow 63.5 lb is amazing well done you must be a GoLower success story.

The counsellor recommended changing my breakfast 2-3 times a week to eggs with grilled bacon, and have suggested I have at least 2 of the fish dishes a week to ensure I get my omega oils. I have also been ordering a bit too much of the same foods as I do enjoy them, so they have suggested varying my choices to include the whole range of the meals available.

I am happy to give it a go as they know best. I still have 3 1/2 stone to go so really don't want my weight loss to slow down.

mummymels · 19/03/2010 02:37

Thanks Simmo. I must say I am really proud of myself and pleased I have found a diet that really works. I've never been able to last very long before but Go Lower has been so easy to keep going with. Soon I am going to stop having the GoLower meals and do some of their recipes instead but I just need to be less lazy as it's so easy to keep eating their lovely meals.

That all makes sense the the meal changing. Good luck with it. I know what you mean about having favourites, I am a bit like that too. Once I know I like something I stick with it!
