Having cranked (literally) out 2 DC in 18 months, youngest nearly 2, I feel its about time get my "I'm a lady" head back on and finally stop avoiding reflective surfaces... I'm 5ft 1" and 8st 11lb and would like to be 8st 2lb which is easier said than done.. major driver is a big big big job interview in three months - somehow I feel that if I'm back at my pre-kid weight I will be back at my pre-kid brain-power (phnarrghaha etc)so ..hhhm - where to start? not really done diets before but need something structured to stick to.. Thinking of the special K plan with added salad?! Ideally I want a nutrionist MNer to post me up some strict instructions - but in the absence of that am going to go Special K + fruit, Special K +veg , decent healthy meal, cut boooze and treats and see how we go.. anyone on for it?!

Special K isn't really a very healthy option - it's high in sugar. Porridge with fruit would be a much better option and then a vegetable soup for lunch.

littlemiss72 · 07/02/2010 13:49

I've just weighed in at 8.12!!! I'm 5.2 and have always been around 8.2 so would like to lose 10lbs fast.

I did try special k a little while ago, like pinnie said there is far too much sugar and I just found myself eating more and more of those bars.

This time I'm off coffee, wine and cakes! Simple breakfasts like fruit salad or a yogurt. Lunch will be home made sandwiches or a jacket potato and a small low fat meal in the evening. NO treats!

God help me..

littlemiss72 · 07/02/2010 13:50

Sorry meant to say.. I'm in and best of luck! x

Prinnie · 07/02/2010 17:11

Well seeing as I've preached about Special K can I be in too? Especially as I'm 5ft 2 - and am 8.7 and would like to be 8.2? It seems we're all after the same thing - I'd find it a really nice support group! I'll be mainly cutting down on sugar and keeping my exercise up

suwoo · 07/02/2010 17:13

I'll join. I'm heavier than you lot but I'm big boned . Need to lose 9lb at least but as much as poss by 21st March for DS's christening.

Prinnie · 07/02/2010 17:26

Cool - welcome suwoo. I'm on for a bad start tomorrow as I'm eating out at lunch and dinner!!!!!

littlemiss72 · 07/02/2010 18:09

Crumplet · 07/02/2010 19:59

Welcome one and all! So special K aint all that.... Just as well that with my limited preparedness I have not even got a pack yet! Have tried porrige but seems to have the reverse effect - by 10am am ravenous - somehow less hungry if I skip breakfast?! Anyone explain that?! So disenchanted3, HOW the devil DID YOU DO IT? I am starting tomorrow!

OP posts:
thatsnotmymonster · 07/02/2010 20:03

Am much heavier than you lot too but would like to lose 9lbs in 6 weeks and then continue!

I have just started walking 6miles a day (nursery run) and am doing porridge for brekkie, slimfast for lunch and normal evening meal with no snacking except fruit!

Disenchanted3 · 07/02/2010 20:12

weight watchers and special k every morning, pmsl!

Prinnie · 07/02/2010 20:24

If you miss breakfast you don't get hungry because your metabolism is still shut down from the evening.

Different things work for different people - Special K is no good for me as I struggle with sugar addiction anyway and I can't limit myself to the 40g portion (which I find tiny compared to the equivalent porridge).

Tomorrow as I'm eating out at lunch and dinner (not ideal AT ALL) I will probably just have a 2-3 pieces of fruit throughout the morning, then try and limit myself at the lunchtime chinese buffet - this would be a problem for most people but I actually don't like chinese so I'm hoping it will be fairly easy!

Crumplet · 07/02/2010 20:43

So be prepared for total boredom as I tell you what I will fail to stick to each day.... Tomorrow I will be mainly eating Cereal (TBC - think there might be something other than Cheerios in the cupboard. hopefully), sandwich (cheese and pickle - DH already made, realise its not low fat but too tight to waste!),and for tea veg soup and salad. Fruit to snack. Tonoght is the last fandango with pizza and wine. Boo

Hi, can I join I have been trying for weeks to lose the last of my baby weight but by lunch have given up. I have 10lb to go.

CrystalTits · 07/02/2010 21:03

Count me in I have lost 2lbs this week but resorted to too many Quality Street to mention this evening after finding DH had totally massacred the garden while I was out. Need to get back on the straight and narrow, cutting out the treats and going low fat seems to do it for me.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 07/02/2010 22:17

Hi, I'd like to join too, I'm 5'3" and 9st 1lb and would like to be 8st 7lbs (or less .

I've given up alcohol and eating rubbish, and am increasing my fruit/veg and limiting portions. I have museli for breakfast. Also I am doing the couch to 5k programme so have upped my exercise rate. Last week I lost 2lbs. YAYYY.

Also I find that if I'm out and about being busy I don't constantly think about eating so my poor dds are being whisked around.

eisbaer · 07/02/2010 22:35

Hi I'd like to join too. I'm about 130 lbs, and 5 ft 4 and would like to be 120 lbs. But can't stop eating sh1t in front of the telly at night! Mainly sweets, normally I'm not that bothered about stuff like that apart from once/twice a week, but it's getting to be , like, every night, so I wanted to vocalise it on here to make myself stop!
Good luck to all.
When is our next weight in?

thatsnotmymonster · 08/02/2010 14:07

I think I have lost 1.5lbs since Wednesday (so 5 days) but does anyone else have big weight fluctuations? I seem to and it really puts me off.

I do weigh myself at the same time of day. Am going to try and only weigh myself once a week. Think I will do it on a Friday to motivate me not to fall off the wagon on the weekends!

Have walked to nursery and back today and ds cycled- YAY! He's only 4 and he managed the 3.5mile round trip so we were both chuffed!

Tomorrow I'm going to swim while they're at nursery- going with a friend so we can take turns to watch the babies.

I have had a slimfast shake for breakfast and wholemeal muffin with beans and one with jam for lunch. Have no fruit in the house as we have run out and have no money left!!

Crumplet · 08/02/2010 16:02

So was defo 8st 11lb this morning. 40g porridge oats with water for breakfast and sandwich plus pear and orange for lunch. Feeling thinner already. Now just got to make it through the kids tea/bathtime/TV gauntlet with just soup and salad and thats it. Day 1 done! Easy peasy! Don't know why we are not all sylphs...although am a bit hungry..
Will update you on my tea time travails later.
Shall we weigh Mondays and Fridays? Or is that too much?

OP posts:
thatsnotmymonster · 08/02/2010 18:05

Mondays and fridays sounds good- something to motivate us at the start and end of the week!

Porridge with water- you are good! I use skimmed milk- do you have anything on it?

Definitely need more fruit!

thatsnotmymonster · 08/02/2010 18:06

Crumplet- my youngest is nearly 2 as well so I have run out of excuses to still be hanging on to the baby weight

eisbaer · 08/02/2010 19:36

Good start, Fruit and Fibre and 2 cups of tea for brekky,
then cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch,

then a snooze,

then DANGER zone woolly head waking from snooze, so a flake and two coffees, oh and an apple before the flake, a healthy "fluffer" if you like.
Then I decided to make flapjacks(for the kids of course), so prob have had two of them in total,
then pork escalopes(fried), baked potato and broccoli(steamed) for tea with the ninos.
No mystery what I need to cut out is there?!
But if I don't eat anything else tonight then that will be progress, esp as doing a run tonight. And we still have three and a bit days till Friday's weigh in? I say we weigh first thing in the morning before eating(flakes etc)?
