Having cranked (literally) out 2 DC in 18 months, youngest nearly 2, I feel its about time get my "I'm a lady" head back on and finally stop avoiding reflective surfaces... I'm 5ft 1" and 8st 11lb and would like to be 8st 2lb which is easier said than done.. major driver is a big big big job interview in three months - somehow I feel that if I'm back at my pre-kid weight I will be back at my pre-kid brain-power (phnarrghaha etc)so ..hhhm - where to start? not really done diets before but need something structured to stick to.. Thinking of the special K plan with added salad?! Ideally I want a nutrionist MNer to post me up some strict instructions - but in the absence of that am going to go Special K + fruit, Special K +veg , decent healthy meal, cut boooze and treats and see how we go.. anyone on for it?!

Lol Claudia wish we could do a weather exchange- we are walking in -5C everyday at the moment! Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful- really sunny and frosty but SO cold. The dc's hands are getting frozen and they are wearing snowsuits and gloves etc. Where abouts in oz are you?

Also Special K not actually that healthy either- also full of sugar etc. The only reason the Special K diet works is cos all you eat is two tiny bowls of cereal and one meal and nothing else. You could eat any cereal and that would work. However, I don't think it matters too much as long as you aren't snacking on the wrong things. Soon those 'fat' jeans will be gone and you will be in your lovely new size 10s

monkeyfacegrace · 23/02/2010 11:43

Good day so far, Ive had scrambled egg on one piece of granary toast topped with smoked salmon yummy!
Cup-a-soup for luch, then jelly for tea. Jelly has to be the tip of the dieting world guys. Sugar free hartleys jelly has about 10 calories per half pint! I eat a whole one throughout the day and it feels naughty so saves me wanting to gorge on sugar (my weak point)
Weighed in at 130.8 lb this morning, so thats another 1lb ish gone. Im an everyday weigher!
Hows everyone else doing?

thatsnotmymonster · 23/02/2010 14:24

I was 0.5lb lighter today so am pleased and motivated. I don't usually weigh every day but it is motivating me. I will try not to do it again till Fri though!

Have had a slimshake and banana for brekkie, ran to school this morning as we were late and have walked/ran total of about 7 miles today.

Was halfway through a shape yog for lunch when dd1 started throwing up everywhere so have just been dealing with that. Not really in the mood for eating now, funny that

So really hoping to break the 13st barrier by Friday!

EVye · 23/02/2010 17:38

Hi everyone.

Had a bacon sarnie for breakfast but hey, it got my metabolism going. Have eaten well through the day and have turned down cake. Have had 3 biscuits but that is over the course of the whole day and I would normally have 3 x 3 so is good for me. Cheese sandwich for lunch. Need to have lots of veg with tea to compensate for lack of during the day. Must use side plate.

Jeans fill big

thatsnotmymonster · 23/02/2010 20:31

Well done Evye- know what you mean about the biscuits. If I have one or two over a day now I feel guilty whereas I would have eaten loads before and not been that bothered!

Just had salmon with lemon and ginger sauce, noodles and salad for dinner. Am stuffed and not even tempted to have any chocolate cake that dh is having. Though might be tempted in an hour or so...must not cave...

EVye · 23/02/2010 20:44

just eating carbonara. Not low fat but a small portion so feel good about it.

Monster - try and avoid the cake but if you cant, then have half a piece instead of a whole one.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 23/02/2010 21:26

thatsnotmymonster, there are lots of things I miss about England but I'm afraid the weathers not really one of them . Today it will be a pleasant 31 degrees, warming up to 37 on Saturday. We are in Adelaide, South Australia - it's the bit that everyone ignores when they come here with good reason and focus on the East coast.

I continue to be super good - even managing to have chocolate in the house and not eating it . My clothes feel marginally looser, I am exercising more. I hold out no great hopes for weight loss but one never knows. I'm a once a week weigher - any more frequent and I get depressed.

Keep it up people - everyone sounds like they're doing really well

ClaudiaSchiffer · 23/02/2010 21:32

ooo I've just thought of an idea . . . How about we put our names down and a target date, our current weight and our hope-for weight and also another thing to achieve in that time - non weight related ie

By the 31st March

ClaudiaSchiffer currently 9st aiming for 8st 7lb wants to be able to run 5k continuously.

What do you think????

Prinnie · 23/02/2010 22:23

Evening all, had quite a good day (I think), have just got back from my Mum's and managed to only have 2 rich tea biscuits (she always has yummy stuff in). It sounds like you lot are all doing brilliantly

I knew my 'danger zone' tactic would give you lot with DCs a giggle! As I said before I'm just very pre TTC at the moment so am taking full advantage of things I might not have for too much longer!

Claudia - love the idea of the 'statement' here's mine (I've kept the inital target quite close to aid motivation and then I'll do another one in 3 weeks):

Prinnie currently 8st 7lb aiming to be 8st 4lb by March 13th so that she looks extra fab in dress for BiLs wedding. She also wants to be lifting 6kg weights for straight arm raises in the gym by March 13th as well.
(not as coherent as yours Claudia! )

EVye · 24/02/2010 08:00

EVye would like to be 10st 12lb by March 14th. (which is only 4-5 lb to lose so let hope) And I want to have got around to organising swimming once a week.

Long term goal is 10st.

Kryptik · 24/02/2010 11:14

Hi everyone.
I like the idea of a statemnet too!

I am currently 11st and want to be under 10st by April 17 (ds1's birthday party) AND be able to run 5k.

I went to the gym yesterday and managed to do week 3 of couch to 5k. It felt so good when I finished
I'm loving it.

Today I have had muesli and yogurt and a slice of toast for breakfast. I've got tomato and chickpea soup for lunch, fruit for snacks and dinner is chicken and veg.

Its nice to hear that everyone is doing really well

(I hope no one minds that I only post occasionally. I work part time and it makes fitting in mn time really difficult but I do need this thread!)

thatsnotmymonster · 24/02/2010 11:57

Great idea about goals/statement

Thatsnotmymonster would like to lose 5lb by 5th March (mum's 60th) and start climbing once a week.

Long term goal- to reach 11 stone by 16th July (going for 2 weeks to France with all of dh's family) and to run a 10k!

Claudia I have a friend in Adelaide- he grew up there but lived in Scotland for a few years as a teenager and he is back there now!

There is a blizzard here today and at least 6 inches of snow and dd1 was reall sick yesterday so we didn't do nursery today. No walking!

On the plus side, I didn't eat the cake

monkeyfacegrace · 24/02/2010 19:56

Monkeyfacegrace is 129 lb. I want to be 124lb by Friday 5th March.
Long term goal is 118lb but dont think its do-able, Im not motivated enough!

Prinnie · 24/02/2010 21:45

Hi everyone, I've had a pretty good day and a good gym work out. Feeling super focused at the moment - especially due to the short term statements I've started on the next weights up tonight at the gym. Got back and had homemade soup, pitta bread and 1/4 of a mango for tea.
Well done everyone - I've got a good feeling about Friday's weigh in - I think we're going to have a good set of results! (nearly just spelt that resluts!!!)

Prinnie · 25/02/2010 19:16

Forgive me fellow dieters for I have sinned . Today I succumed to the temptation of 2 biscuits and a pret a manger apple cake whilst at my London meeting. Feeling suitably guilty and have had soup and 1 slice of mango for tea as a punishment! Hope your days have gone better than mine!

EVye · 25/02/2010 19:38

Ooh yum. Dont beat yourself up. Tomorrow is another day.

I'm still doing ok with the side plate dinners. Havent really snacked either today

Will weigh myself in the morning and see if it has made any difference....

thatsnotmymonster · 25/02/2010 22:15

It's not too bad and you've been very good the rest of the time!!

I walked to school today in about 6 inches of slush and freezing rain/snow. It was the hardest thing pushing the buggy through it and poor ds walking. We were bothe knackered and drenched by the time we got there! Came home and had a hot shower then took the car for the pick up! Think I might have to drive tomorrow as more snow is forecast

I've had egg sandwiches with tom and cucumber for lunch and tesco indian takeaway for dinner (friend brought it round) and that's it. No snacking so not too bad, I hope!

We'll see what the scales say tomorrow!

ClaudiaSchiffer · 25/02/2010 23:10

Prinnie that sounds ok - at least you didn't eat your body weight in Pringles or lard.

Well done everyone else. Much respect to thatsnotmymonster for the walk in the slush.

I'm doing ok I think. I went out to a Cabaret thing last night and as am still off the booze drank water and didn't partake in the pre-show cocktails and tapas.

The cabaret was ACE though, some bird from croydon did an act where she striped off starkers and pulled a red hanky out of her lady area. Also magicians, roller skating pensioner acrobats, puppeteers and some chick in fetish gear who pretty much just staggered about drinking other peoples drinks. A Top night out

EVye · 26/02/2010 08:08

Pushing buggy through snow is really hard!

I weighed myself today and I was 70.6 kg. So 0.2kg less than last week but at least it is a loss. I just want to be under 70 next week

Prinnie · 26/02/2010 08:28

Yeay!! Well done EVye, that's roughly half a pound... which (drumroll) is what I've lost! Yeay this means I'm on track for my 13th March goal. I have to be really really good this weekend though which is always a challenge but I have a determined mindset.

By the way notmymonster very very impressed with your walk through the snow!

Good luck everyone

thatsnotmymonster · 26/02/2010 08:36

I am gutted

Yesterday I was 12st 13.5 so was 2lbs down from monday and really excited about todays weigh in having broken the 13st barrier so I jumped on the scales happily this morning to discover I'm back up to 13st 1lb How did that happen???!!??

So disappointed. Not walking today cos it's pissing it down with rain and need to go to shop as well.

Kryptik · 26/02/2010 09:56

Thatsnotmymonster don't worry about it. Is it Af time soon? It'll probably show up next week.

Well done for all the losses. Even 0.2kg is a loss!

I weighed myself this morning and was a bit disappointed to find that I am actually 11.2.

AT least its kick in the butt for me to do something about it.
Here's to next week.....

EVye · 26/02/2010 13:27

monster - i can put on a good few pounds depending on af too. It could be that or it could be that you are replacing fat with muscle (which is heavier).

I have been very naughty and just ate a huge pizza. I am finding I'm a bit more hungry at lunchtimes as I'm eating less in the evening. I guess at least I have time to burn it off

thatsnotmymonster · 26/02/2010 14:08

Well done everyone for the losses- looks like we are all going in the right direction!

Well it could be AF- difficult to say cos mine are so erratic- I will have a look at the calendar.

So far today I've had a big bowl of homemade lentil and veggie soup with some french bread and some water.

Doing loads of housework today as we have someone coming to view our spare room that we rent out this evening.

thatsnotmymonster · 26/02/2010 14:13

Just checked and last AF started on 2nd Feb which was 3.5 weeks ago so it could be that...I hope it is. My back is a wee bit achy and I'm craving choc so quite possibly

Can't believe I've actually managed to get ds(5) and dd1 (3.5) down for an afternoon nap today!!! dd2 (1.7) is bumbling around and I will put her down when the other 2 get up
