February has four complete weeks, so the aim of this challenge is to lose 8lbs.

How you do it is up to you - I'm a low carber.

We don't use our actual weights,(unless you want to,) but index our loss, so if you're starting tomorrow, your start weight is 100. You drop down one for each pound you lose.

I'm signing in from the 3 week challenge, and will report my weight tomorrow - but for the moment:

Yes please I'd also decided to go for it in Feb, I had a crap Jan as been poorly, off work & feelin sorry for myself so just pigging out. Due to illness can't exercise either. I've got another op on Tues but am determined not to let things get on top of me this time. I joined weight watchers last week so that's my plan!
Ok Justwhen 100

P.S does that mean you've already lost 7lbs??

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/01/2010 18:15

Welcome!

Yes I lost seven pounds doing the three week challenge - 5 in the first week, then only one in each of the following weeks.

I've not had a good weekend on the food front, so I'm not sure whether or not to weigh in tomorrow or to leave it until Friday

My overall target is 70, so I've a way to go (especially if I'm only going to lose a pound a week!). I'm aiming to be superstrict next week, as I'd really like to lose 2lbs per week, which would take me to 85 by the end of Feb.

Hope your op goes OK. Sounds like you've got enough on your plate without worrying about your weight, though.

I'm in....

Are we having a big final weigh in tomorrow on the other thread? Or this one?

HinnyPet · 31/01/2010 19:37

Hi all,
I'm signing in here, (I was 13st7 now am 12st6) so I'm 85.
I've bought protein powder from H&B to make a "milkshake" in the morning, but the pysillium husks were £10! Is there an alternative to add? Also bought the chromium tablets - supposed to curb cravings a bit WilfSell, is that right?
Off to do weekly ironing pile (sigh)

eggandsoldiers · 31/01/2010 20:37

I am signing in here too. On another thread but hopefully being on two will give me added impetus.

Already lost a bit but will start at 100, should motivate me.

WilfSell · 31/01/2010 20:42

Could I ask a question of those of you who have been low-carbing for a while?

You know if you have a bit of a slip up - too much wine, sneaky creme egg etc (no I haven't yet, but there will come a day when I will, I'm sure - I almost put the kids' jelly babies straight in my gob while we were out today - more out of habit than anything else. Stopped myself though ), well what happens?

Does everything slow down? Do you have to go back to induction again to get back into ketosis? Or is it just keep calm and carry on, back on your 'normal' level of carbs to lose weight?

And have any of you gone on to work out exactly how many grams of carb you need to lose or maintain weight? Or perhaps a bit more flexibly than that (eg do you know you can have carbs in the morning? or one glass of wine or a coupla pieces dark chocolate per day or whatever?)

I'm really interested to hear from people who've managed to carry on long term...

TheQuibbler · 31/01/2010 20:45

Oh, I'm in as well. Really want to carry this on (I've got quite a lot to lose!)

I've been really good about what I eat on the low carb bit, haven't been cheating at all, but I'm a bit concerned about how I eat - far too much picking and those bites of cheese and odd bit of sausage adds up staggeringly fast to the overall calorie count and I think can slow the weight loss down.

I'm going to use the Feb challenge as an incentive to try and get that under control. No snacking!

Echo what Wilf says - where should we do our final weigh in? Here or there? Or both?!

HinnyPet · 31/01/2010 21:04

I've been using the FitDay Free Calorie Counter - it is quite amazing what carbs are in what. FitDay

If I have a slip up I just keep calm and carry on, making a mental note of what it was.. I think I'm more likely to carry on losing weight if I do that instead of chastising myself / starving myself cos I had something I am not supposed to!

thereistheball · 31/01/2010 21:06

Hello! I'm in too. just off to bed now but will check in properly tomorrow. Last time I checked I was 92.5 after 2 weeks - will update on Tuesday which will be the end of my 3 weeks.

TheFirstLady · 31/01/2010 21:09

Signing in. I lost 17lb between the beginning of November and New Year - and nothing since despite being reasonably careful. I started Alli today in an attempt to kick-start the process again. So am low-fatting like mad in order to avoid, er, side-effects.
TheFirstLady - 100

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/01/2010 22:39

Wilf - I think it depends on how strictly you've been doing it, tbh. I have never done Atkins 'properly' - just kept my overall carbs down. I know that at the weekend my carb count is probably higher than during the week, and it has an impact on my weight loss.

OP posts:
eggandsoldiers · 31/01/2010 23:38

I'm not doing low carbing. The first time I ever did it it was amazing but never been able to replicate that amazing weight loss. Anyone else find this with low carbing, or where I am giong wrong?

PuddingPenguin · 01/02/2010 08:12

I'm in. DH's birthday on Weds, so see you bright and early Thursday.

justwhen · 01/02/2010 08:41

Hello well it's day one and I'm so up for this - some of you have done brilliantly so far. I'm also going to have a month off the alcohol as that just encourages me to pig out and eat rubbish. Good luck everyone.

Welcome!

I have had a very over indulgent weekend - not too bad on the food front, more on the wine front, so it's back to basics for me this week.

Have just had bacon and eggs for breakfast and lunch will be something with salad - not sure yet; dinner is roast pork with mashed swede and broccoli.

OP posts:
racmac · 01/02/2010 09:38

Yes please can i join - been crap lately and not been able to get motivated -

Im 100

I WILL be 91 by end of Feb - i am correct each no represents a 1lb? So i will loose 9lb by end Feb

annmar · 01/02/2010 09:51

I'll join you.

I've put on so much weight in January its not true.

Will start at 100, would like to be 90 by the end of Feb.

Do we just need to weigh in once a week?

SparkyMalarky · 01/02/2010 09:55

Oh can I join? Lost 7 pounds in Jan on Zoe Harcombe phase 1 and am now stuck (phase 2 was actually harder for me) - actually want to lose at least 2 and a half stone (still carrying baby weight from 2 pregnancies) so have a long way to go....

Does that mean I'm 93? Would like to be 87 by the end of the month

Fruitgums · 01/02/2010 11:00

As it's the 1st of the month, I would like to join you as well.

I've started going to slimming world in January and have lost 6.5lbs so far. I guess that makes me 93.5.

I would like to lose 4lbs in Feb - have so much weight to lose that I'm only aiming for 1lb loss per week as I cann't cope with the added pressure of trying to lose more.

SweetGrapes · 01/02/2010 11:09

I'll join as it's still the 1st and have started the day well with salads and fruit... (Just tucking into carrot and hommus elevenses)

I lost 22lbs last year over the summer doing calorie counting and exercising regularly. About 7 of them have crept back over birthdays, christmas, new year, just because it's calling me very loudly....

I want to lose what I gained over but have starting trouble, so here I am:

Welcome one and all!

Weigh in whenever you feel like it - but we should probably have an official weigh-in day - I would suggest that we next weigh in on Monday, so we've done a full week.

But feel free to gloat during the week if you're a more regular weigher!
