February has four complete weeks, so the aim of this challenge is to lose 8lbs.

How you do it is up to you - I'm a low carber.

We don't use our actual weights,(unless you want to,) but index our loss, so if you're starting tomorrow, your start weight is 100. You drop down one for each pound you lose.

I'm signing in from the 3 week challenge, and will report my weight tomorrow - but for the moment:

Hi everybody!

What will you add to it shortandsweet? Blueberries? How much will you use? I think I bought exactly the same one!

I have been eating Atkins breakfast bars, they do the trick and keep me filled up til at least 12, alomg with decaff coffee. They are expensive though so I'd rather have a substitute.

Am finally off the sugar substitute, I really don't need it!! However I had a major migraine (again) from 0530, slept in and DD was an hour late for school (bad mummy) then I took DS to Marks and had TWO Americanos with brown sugar, absolutely delish, and fely a million dollars afterwards. I have very little caffeine in my diet but when suffering from the migraines a proper cup does wonders.

Now has that knacked the carbs for the day? Just gonna check on FitDay.....am on 33carbs for the day already! eek!

pushmepullyou · 01/02/2010 20:50

Evening all

I am doing WW online (not meeting orientated) and mostly giving up alcohol, mainly out of solidarity with my DH, who is giving up drinking for a couple of months as it is his main source of calories!

Struggling to exercise atm. Used to go to the gym twice a week before DD (14 months), but can't really afford it at the moment as she is just starting nursery, which is very expensive.

I never seem to lose more than a pound a week no matter how hard I try so I'm hoping this thread will help me to stick with it and up my weight loss rate a bit. 8lb in February seems more than I can dream of at the moment though!

mummymels · 01/02/2010 21:58

Hi everyone, sorry not been back since I joined you on the last thread. I had a minor op last week and been a bit dizzy from the meds. I had a quick scan through and you all have such lovely recipe ideas. My mouth was watering reading them all. With Go Lower, which I am doing they send me ready made meals but once I can start making my own I shall definitely be trying some out. You need to create a recipe book with all your ideas!

I'm not sure what to put as my rating. If I go from when I started the diet in October, I have now lost a total of 59lbs so I would be on 41 score but should I start on that or on 100?

Wow! A stone - that's fantastic.

My day today:

B - two rashers of bacon, one fried egg
L - chicken breast, mushrooms and green beans
D - roast pork, red cabbage and broccoli

some nuts this evening as a snack - I'd like to drop the snacks but I was hungry and we weren't eating until late!

OP posts:
shortandsweet2 · 02/02/2010 05:26

Hinny pet - I used one scoop and added a bit of honey but still wasnt great. It says you can add juice so may try that today. It says best to blend but my problem is I start work at 6.30am and will be drinking it at 9am so will have to access to a blender.

I am not really following a particular diet just eating less and moving more.

racmac · 02/02/2010 06:26

shortandsweet2 - I do still eat breakfast with my shake but it certainly keeps me going till longer.
You can buy some little packs of the shakes so you can try them without buying a big bag.
They do charge postage - i paid £14.98 for 10 kg bag but it will last ages.

First day of diet and last night went out for a meeting and they put crisps in front of me and i was starving so i tucked in
Why do i do it - i have no will power

shortandsweet2 · 02/02/2010 07:19

Wow racmac that is a hefity postage, Is there any reason you don't use the health shops near you, Just wondering if you seeked out the best one

racmac · 02/02/2010 07:39

BEcause i have tried the protein shakes before and they are truely disgusting!

I bought these on recommendation and they are worth it.

thereistheball · 02/02/2010 08:05

Hello all.

I weighed today after 3 weeks of low-carbing, and am -91.5. That's only 1lb less than last week, which is a bit disappointing, but I'm generally feeling much slinkier and both DH and the tape measure confirm this. Goal is 62 so there is a long way to go yet - will be very happy if I can lose 8 this month.

I like to list what I'm going to eat every day so I don't make bad decisions because I'm starving. Today =

Hard-boiled egg, half an avocado, cucumber, cheese
Chicken salad, cheese
Sausages, creamed mushrooms, broccoli

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/02/2010 09:03

Good going, thereistheball!

A difficult day ahead for me, which sadly isn't unusual given my job. I have a meeting in Northampton at 2.00, and will have to leave home at 10.30 to get to it.

If we have enough time, we will stop en route - M&S Simply Food at various service stations are generally my lifeline. Otherwise, I end up having a very limited choice of food at an ordinary service station.

Breakfast is going to be a boiled egg, and dinner tonight is chicken kebabs with salad and griddled peppers/courgettes.

Youlukamazing - which Davina DVD are you using? I would like to get on eof her DVD as everyone raves about them but there are so many!

Ideally I'd like to hvae short sessions - 20-30mins at a time.

Is Monday the Weigh In day then?

mejon · 02/02/2010 14:02

Day late I'm afraid, but can I join you officially? I did the 3 week one and have so far lost 5lbs so I'm now 95. I'm low-carbing too though not the Atkins - more the Charles Clark version but not being as strict as I should. DH is also doing it with me and he's already lost 9 or 10lbs (the bugger!).

My weight-loss has been somewhat slower this time than the first time I did it around 5 or 6 years ago when I managed to lose nearly 4 stone (though can't remember the time-scale).

Had a slight relapse yesterday and ate a piece of Belgian chocolate - it was horrible so I won't be relapsing on that again!

Celeriac has been a real find - I'm loving it too (though my Dauphinois looked a bit grim - like cottage cheese for some reason but tasted yum). Roasted swede is fab too.

I'm convinced that my Mirena coil has made me put on weight as it has slowly crept up over the last 2 years (being heavier now than I was immediately post-DD) so I'm having it removed tomorrow. Hope that the weight may fall off me then.

TheQuibbler · 02/02/2010 14:18

Fruitgums - I've got 3 Davina workouts now.

I recently found a deal on Amazon that has two DVD's in a set. High Energy, which has five 20 min workouts and Superbody Work Out.
SBW is pretty tough, but worthwhile - I can feel myself getting fitter three weeks in, and the HE5 is good if you want to do it in shorter bursts.

boxset deal here

WilfSell · 02/02/2010 14:30

Hi all

Mad busy at work again so just weighing in during lunchhour at end of my 3 week challenge and starting the new one. After my colossal losses in first couple of weeks just 1lb this week but it's all in the right direction. I had a glass of red wine on Sat and Sun (was delicious!) and LOTS of strawberries last week so it was lovely! Perhaps ease up a bit again this week...

So I'm hoping to manage 81 by the end of feb...

Hi all

I decided to start a diet/exercise programme yesterday so can i join in. This is my first time trying to do this with help from MN - 16 month DD - so time for that weight to go. I am 100 and my goal would be 88

Fruitgums · 02/02/2010 16:17

Thanks TheQuibbler for the recommendation.

I spoke to my Go Lower counsellor today and she said that soon I will be able to start making my own lo carb meals which I am quite looking forward to. The Go Lower ones are lovely but I am also looking forward to trying out some of the recipes mentioned on here. Tonight I've had the Go Lower Navarin of Lamb and I made some garlic brocolli to go with it and it was lovely.

shinybaubles · 02/02/2010 20:31

Can I join too or is it a bit late. I hope you have room for a newbie. Had ds2 in dec and so far have lost 14 kilos - will go and find out how much that is in pounds now.

shinybaubles · 02/02/2010 20:34

I guess that's me Shiny at 70 then - do I just add myself to the list or is that a bit pushy .

mummymels · 02/02/2010 20:51

That's a brilliant loss shiny - welcome to the group.
