February has four complete weeks, so the aim of this challenge is to lose 8lbs.

How you do it is up to you - I'm a low carber.

We don't use our actual weights,(unless you want to,) but index our loss, so if you're starting tomorrow, your start weight is 100. You drop down one for each pound you lose.

I'm signing in from the 3 week challenge, and will report my weight tomorrow - but for the moment:

Well I chickened out of weighing today . Mainly because I am fairly sure the scales are still where they were two weeks ago.

Sigh.

I seem to do the same thing all the time. Get off to a good start, then squander it and sabotage my own best efforts.

But onwards and upwards, as they say, and tomorrow is another day and all those other cliches.

Have started again today and have a much better work week, so should be easier to keep myself on track.

Hey BIWI, you've also been ill, so perhaps your body is holding onto stuff? Keep at it: you know you can, because you've done it before!

I, meanwhile, didn't weigh in properly last week as I hadn't moved. Or my scales are still crap - as this week I seem to have lost another 3lbs!

Am chuffed because was getting bored and losing faith. Custardo has joined the thread I started about low carbing in Jan, btw, and she is a wealth of information - brilliant...

I'm lookiing forward to seeing the numbers start with an 8 now.

Definitely helps me to feel I'm really back on track.

Had an odd day yesterday with food, as I wasn't really hungry.

Didn't have breakfast (just a coffee); lunch was some roasted belly pork with boiled celery and coleslaw - an odd selection of leftovers! - and all I had in the evening was a hard boiled egg and a slice of cheese.

As I was cooking risotto for the rest of the family I decided simply not to eat, seeing as I wasn't hungry.

(Not being hungry is a very unusual state of mind for me - even on this WOE).

So onwards and downwards!

Nothing off for me this week - but more importantly nothing on either! DH meanwhile continues to loose weight despite constant lapses!

Whey hey! Celeriac was nice BIWI - got some left for tonight to go with steak & asparagus. My butcher is loving me ATM.

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/02/2010 13:35

I thank you.

I was feeling a real failure, till I reminded myself that I have now lost 9lbs since January, so I am pretty chuffed. It may only be just over a pound a week, but it's more than half a stone.

It's so easy to get downhearted and then resort to eating the wrong things as some ridiculous form of 'comfort'!

Anyway, enough about me (no not really - more, more, more!) how is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
thereistheball · 23/02/2010 21:42

I know what you mean BIWI. 9lb is worth being proud of, but it's so easy to get blown off course by a bad mood or crappy day. Have you started getting compliments yet? I got a nice one today from a friend which was encouraging.

Actually today was lovely all round. Started by being v pleasantly surprised to have lost another 1.5lb this week, so I am now at -88.5. Yay! I'll post the new list below. Then had a really nice day with friend and our two daughters who were cute with each other and made each other laugh. Had a good long walk in the park too.

Then I made the most delicious pork and mushroom meatballs for supper too, despite being knackered: minced pork, rehydrated dried porcini, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced onion, salt and pepper (could have taken garlic, lemongrass, coriander too) rolled into balls then poached in the mushroom liquid and water, with a leek and some more mushrooms. Ate them with soy and chilli sauce to dip in, and a bowl of miso soup. They were fab and I wish I'd done twice the amount and frozen them - will do next time. There are only 4 left in the fridge for midnight feast DD's lunch tomorrow.

supersalstrawberry ? I hope your cravings are getting easier. Lots of yummy meals out for you.

Amazonianwoman ? wise words re don?t beat yourself up. Forget about your bad weekend and back to it this week. Main thing is that you had a good time so it was worth it.

BecauseImWorthIt ? Great news that you are better. You job must be really interesting. I have taken part in quite a few focus groups and they can be really interesting depending on the subject and easy money. Are they just as interesting from your side of them? Yum, that party food sounds lovely and it just proves that your body is adapting to the diet if you were full up quickly.

WilfSell ? You sound as if you have a lot of self control with the treats in the house and great new on your clothes becoming looser. Brilliant weight loss this week.

Thereistheball ? good luck with giving up alcohol. I?m sure it will make a big diffference. Your dinner tonight sounds lovely. My mouth is watering reading it.

theQuibbler ? Good luck on your gym visits. I am sure no-one will notice you but you have made the first steps by joining anyway which is more than can be said for a lot of people including myelf.

mejon ? Isn?t t so annoying when men lose more weight even though they don?t keep to the diet properly. My DH is the same.

At weigh in yesterday, for the first time since starting Go Lower I haven't lost any weight this week. Bit disappointed but can't complain in the whole scheme of things really as I couldn't go on losing like I have been forever.

Do you know if olives are low carb? Today the kids had pasta for their lunch and I pinched some olives. I am pleased I didn't pinch the pasta which would have been worse but feel a bit naughty pinching the olives as so far I have kept the the diet to the tee.

BecauseImWorthIt · 24/02/2010 08:47

Well according the carb counter on this site olives in brine have zero carbs!

I wouldn't worry about a week of no weight loss. One of the mantras on the pig2twig site (India and Neris's site) is "weight loss is not linear". I think sometimes that your body just has to 'catch up' for a while. Others have reported that their measurements have changed even if their weight hasn't.

So stick with it (39!!!) and things should start to move again soon.

OP posts:
thereistheball · 24/02/2010 08:59

Thanks for all the encouragement mummymels! Yes olives are fine.

(Sneaky weigh-in indicates another half pound off this morning - so fingers crossed for next week!)

WilfSell · 24/02/2010 09:00

Woohoo. Have lost another pound (I weigh in twice a week - one on Monday for this challenge) and once on Wednesday for my girls night in Fat Club meeting

I'm now 4lbs off my target of a stone and a half for my reward of a very expensive swanky cut and colour overhaul...!

BecauseImWorthIt · 24/02/2010 09:00

Brilliant, Wilf!

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 24/02/2010 12:06

Fab Wilf

Mummymels - maintaining weight is still good - you must be a shadow of your former self. What is your target?

I've just had half a bar of Green & Black's 85% organic choc (about 8g carbs)

Combo of being awake since 4.30am ( DS) + needing to finish a huge report + PMT...

Am so stuffed though that I don't fancy lunch. Unheard of for me! A month ago I could easily have demolished the biggest bar of Cadbury's fruit & nut then had a full lunch.

HinnyPet · 24/02/2010 18:35

I don't think I've lost anything but just popping in to say hi all, hope you're all okay and well done on the weight loss!
How much has been lost on the whole thread then?

BecauseImWorthIt - Thanks for the reassurance and in my heart of hearts I know I have been losing loads since October last year and I can't go on losing that much every week, it must slow down at some time otherwise I will end up skin and bones although I am sure that is highly unlikely with me! Great news on the olives. It's the first time I have broken the diet but may indulge in some more olives then!

thereistheball - Thanks re the olives. Brilliant that you are half a pound down already. By the end of the week you will be back on track again.

WilfSell - Woo hoo, that treat is getting nearer for you now. How exciting. That is a good idea giving yourself treats when you get to your goals.

amazonianwoman - Well done on your weight loss. That's great that the chocolate filled you up so quickly. It's amazing how our bodies adapt to the change in eating habits. I have to admit I changed my target which is a bit naughty really. originally I wanted to get down to 10 stone but as the weight has been coming off so quickly and I haven't found it too hard I thought I might try and get down to 9 stone but to be honest once I have got to 10 stone I will play it by ear a bit and see how I feel and if I am getting fed up with it. I know I will need to maintain too. Yes I do feel so much better in myself now and got so much more energy than I have had for ages, its great.

HinnyPet - Hello!

amazonianwoman · 26/02/2010 11:20

1.5lbs lost this week, was hoping for more but serves me right for pigging out at weekend and indulging in dark chocolate during the week

Still quite happy with just over half a stone in 2 weeks though

Out tonight for curry - will try not to drink much beer (may even drive ) - otherwise determined to have a sensible weekend. DH is showing moderate interest now that I've lost some weight. Life will be easier if I can get him on the plan too

amazonianwoman - just over half a stone in 2 weeks is brilliant. Well done. Enjoy your curry tonight in celebration.

amazonianwoman · 26/02/2010 18:10

Thank you

Had no time for lunch, been so busy I even took the kids to McDonalds - but didn't eat any of their food! So hopefully the curry won't do to much damage...

Brollyflower · 26/02/2010 22:23

Well done ladies. Sounds like some great losses this week . I'll be back in the morning with the results of my final Feb weigh-in to see if I've managed the 8lb. Where to next once Feb ends???
