None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

well, had supper as planned but need to log in a dried date, 3 apple rings (teatime snack) and some white sauce on my gammon as well, but no baked potato, just few crusts of bread.
water to drink, and milky tea during afternoon and later

Not much walking today, just about 500m..[hmm

tibni · 26/01/2010 20:47

Swanriver - I too am finding I am really enjoying my food and noticing the flavour.

I have had a good day. I am thinking about my food choices rather than grabbing plates of white buttered toast throughout the day which is what I used to do. Using food focus really helps me keep a track on my calories.

Went to the gym today - but only a gentle session as my muscles are objecting a little.

DoingTheBestICan · 27/01/2010 08:09

Yesterday i had,

B-porridge
L-crackers,an apple & a small bag of raisins
D-huge bowl of beef stew & a slice of rye bread.

Loads of water too.My skin feels better & i have loads more energy too.

Have a good one everyone.

swanriver · 27/01/2010 11:15

eggandsoldiers · 27/01/2010 12:58

Still not made the gym yet

tibni · 27/01/2010 14:03

Hi all,

B - Cornflakes and milk
L - weight watchers tomato soup and extra small banana
d - (I think! boiled egg, dry fried mushrooms, grilled tomato, baked beans and maybe a slice w/m bread)

Feeling peckish so I am going to have a couple of glasses of water then maybe a yoghurt or something. I have walked the dog and am going to the gym before dinner.

eggandsoldiers · 27/01/2010 21:07

Hi all, how is it going?

I am having a wobble today. I want to eat a dozen creme eggs. Not a good day. Hanging on and fortunately no eggs in

I am off for a bath to try to distrct myself.

tibni · 27/01/2010 21:41

Hold on in there eggandsoldier - is there anything else you fancy as a treat? Or is it creme eggs or nothing?

Not the time to say I am having a portion of homemade apple crumble (just a little one) soon. I have guessed a cal based on processed version and I will still be under the 1200 and I have done a 700 cal workout at the gym ((( justifying to self! )))

swanriver · 28/01/2010 09:22

well I had a wobble last night watching Mad Men, felt in dire need of bread and cheese.
The strange thing was that within a few mouthfuls I felt yuk - I don't need this, and just ate a bit more because it was on a plate front of me

Today breakfast - Ready brek and coffee and a pear later
Lunch - leftover macaroni cheese and steamed cabbage
Supper - not sure?

Egg try dark choc or cocoa if the choc craving hits you, tis the magnesium you probably want.

tibni · 28/01/2010 10:32

morning.

swanriver - bread or crackers and cheese are my munchies of choice. Just think a wobble in the scheme of things isn't that bad.

today
B - cornflakes and milk
L - soup or tomato on dry toast
D - veggie burger, jacket pot and salad

Being veggie and exercising a lot I have to really watch my protein levels as I tend to fill up on carbs - so you will see a lot of eggs, soya as I try and avoid too much cheese.

Have a good day

Manda25 · 28/01/2010 15:55

s&s - thanks i will look on the site

Yesterday:

b: Small banana
L: no fat 100 cal yogurt, apple, satsuma
D: 2 beef Tomatoes, 2 slices parma ham, 3 thin slices mozzarella cheese & a hand size full of pasta - fruit salad (kiwi, peach, grapes)

Today
b: small banana, grapes, satsuma
l: nothing (busy at work)
d: Breast of roast chicken and veg

swanriver · 28/01/2010 16:16

lunch was macaroni cheese (small portion)and large helping of steamed cabbage and lots of worcestershire sauce (no butter in cabbage)
I pear

teatime snack - 2 fatfree yeo valley fruit yoghurts - feeling very hungry and determined not to be badtempered as there's lots of homework /childtaming to be done this eve, and no supper till late as going out.

swanriver · 28/01/2010 23:11

Supper was unavoidably delicious and fattening (bookclub at someone else's house)
glass of champagne
potatoes lyonnaise
roast
french beans in a tomatoey sauce
almond tart
all cooked by one of the bookclub ladies' husbands so not very diet conscious
feel slightly overwhelmed and have indigestion, longing for perrier

shortandsweet2 · 29/01/2010 06:56

Morning all

I haven't been feeling great so haven't really been following the diet. I did lose 1 pound this week. Makes it 4lbs in 4wks.

DoingTheBestICan · 29/01/2010 08:30

YIPPEE!! Weighed myself this morning & i have lost 3 1/2 lb this week so that makes 13lb in 4 weeks.

I am so pleased with myself as i really need to lose a lot more too before our holiday in July.

Yesterday i had

B-porridge & blueberries
L-ryvitas,apple & grapes
D-turkey & veg curry & rice & 3 slices of pineapple
Also had some raisins & 2 chocolate coins

Hope everyone else has a good weigh in & i hope you feel better soon shortandsweet2.

swanriver · 29/01/2010 09:36

Well I weighed myself yesterday and had lost 3 Ibs, but this morning it was only 2Ibs (fancy dinners grrrr)
but still am pleased
definitely think exercise is the key to my wellbeing, and early dinner

feel so bleugh this morning after eating at 9.00pm compared to usual routine of about 6.30-7.00pm, and still have indigestion.
Nor do I even feel hungry for breakfast, I must have eaten too much last night for sure.

Well done everyone, I think we are all moving forward if sometimes in fits and starts...

Bobbybee · 29/01/2010 10:30

I've had a few off days recently so I'm not weighing as haven't been dieting.

Back to it now.

If only I could get some rest and stop being so tired...

Well done to everyone losing lots of weight.

swanriver · 29/01/2010 14:10

Breakfast Porridge with some milk in it
Lunch whole orange
wensleydale cheese 75g(?)
piece of bread in an hour as still don't feel very hungry...
supper beef casserole with plain boiled rice and cabbage
snacks (planned) 5 dried dates, and a piece of fruit

swanriver · 30/01/2010 14:19

Yesterday I managed to down a bowl of cheerios at bedtime too - oh dear

Today
milky coffee, croissant, half a flapjack
lunch - 2 slices of bacon, raw veg, 2 fried onions (ie: lots)2 fried field mushrooms

so not doing so well today, I think one big meal on Thursday has undone a lot of good eating habits, seem unable to get back to the right mindset...

lots of walking yest and today though

DoingTheBestICan · 30/01/2010 18:26

I know how you feel swanriver i seem to be struggling today,i have had

B-porrdige with raisins
L-ham & spring onion sandwich & a banana
D-pasta bolognaise bake & i have just eaten some chocolate coins but still feel hungry.

I think its because we went swimming this morning, its going to be a long night for me.

Luckily i am working tomorrow so i wont get a chance to nibble.

Good luck everyone.

eggandsoldiers · 30/01/2010 20:44

hi all well done with all your losses.

I have had a blippie few days, got down to 1.5kg less than last week but pinged back up after my blippie bit, so a bit sad about that.

Got to try and sort from tomorrow and get back to listening to my hypnodiet tape as it was really helping me.

I will sort. In mitigation had an extremely stressful week with one thing and another on work and home front.

tibni · 30/01/2010 20:54

Swanriver, DoingTheBestICan and eggandsoldier can I join your struggling club too please.

Mine is linked to my cycle. Each month I have a few days of being starving and wanting to eat anything and everything! Last few days have not been easy but I have not done too badly.

swanriver · 30/01/2010 22:41

Tea - piece of bread
5 dates
Supper - medium Morrison's veg curry, plain yoghurt, 3 tablespoons of rice
water to drink
feel very full - possibly a bad sign and have no cravings for anything...??

I agree, Tibni and Egg.

swanriver · 30/01/2010 22:45

well even if I not getting that much thinner at least I'm eating LOADS of vegetables in one form or another - that must be good

And every glass of wine I drink since I gave it up seems like nectar - so that's an economy too...now need v. little per month to be delighted

eggandsoldiers · 31/01/2010 14:37

Yes tbini and swanriver lets try and egg each other on
Today
i have had soooo far

Bread, peanut butter and jam for breakfast not that much of it.

Then standing around on the rugby pitch no doubt burning up thousands of calories as it was freezing

Lunch mostly lean roast chicken and roasted prarsnips, carrots and other veggies.

The plan is soup for supper and maybe a trip to the gym, the first this year if I make it.

Going to have a good day. I am I am....
