None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

Hi, I'd like to join you if that's OK. This thread is a good idea.

I am trying to lose 2 stone by eating less and more exercise, and trying not to think about food too much!

Today I have been for a jog/walk for 40 minutes.

Food:

2 slices of toast no butter marmite only

Brown Rice, pumpkin seeds, prawns and a splodge of low cal mayo. Oatcake to follow.

3 quorn sausages, 2 roast spuds, roast parsnips, brocolli, carrots and green beans.
Low fat yoghurt.

swanriver · 24/01/2010 18:16

Did about 30 mins of walking today, and 18 lengths of swimming pool (not very fast)
Breakfast,piece of bread,
rather horrid cold porridge with tsp of honey(from yest- won't be repeating that particular economy

Lunch - seafood pizza left most of dough bit though, rocket undressed, teasppon of pannacotta, water, milky coffee

snack small piece of plain bread
Dinner - pork chops fried, couscous, veggies of all descriptions - peas, parsnips carrots

DoingTheBestICan · 24/01/2010 19:32

Hi gettintrimmer & welcome.

Today i have eaten,

B-porridge with dried blueberries
L-2 slices of dark rye toast, poached egg & mushrooms
D-Stir fry with loads of veggies.

I could easily eat hot buttered toast or loads of chocolate but luckily for me we dont have any in so i will make do with a cup of tea.

Good luck everyone & heres to a good week.

eggandsoldiers · 24/01/2010 20:19

welcome gettingtrimmer

today i have had

cornflakes and skimmed milk

chicken, veg, two roast potatoes
tomatoe juice

one slice of cheese on toast

and a long walk on the north downs

Lets all have a good week

swanriver · 24/01/2010 21:06

That does sound a lovely walk egg
mine was the pavement and bit of muddy park

feeling peckish (despite my filling supper) now, so will have another organic carrot (they are v. nice) and some water
though I do fancy some bread
know what you mean about buttered toast trimmer

tomorrow I want to go swimming again, it was a great feeling afterwards

tibni · 24/01/2010 21:11

Had a busy day. Walked dog for an hour, then took dd to county dog show (our pups dad won best of breed and dd got to cuddle him - first time we have met the dad). Did loads of walking/shopping with dd at show.

Had an ok gym session - about 650 cals which combined with the walking has given me a decent exercise count.

Had our treat dinner tonight as the dcs go swimming and I was at the gym so pizza and chips. I had loads of salad, only 1 small slice of pizza and less than 100g of chips so still came in under my cals.

Had a good week overall. Now just got to keep my head together for this week.

shortandsweet2 · 25/01/2010 06:45

Morning all and welcome trimmer

Yesterday I had
a chocolate muffin and WW cream
2 sausages, mash and beans.

Walked for about 2hrs, not a great day for food but didn't eat much so was still under cals

swanriver · 25/01/2010 09:50

Breakfast - Readybrek with water and splash of milk (no sugar)
black coffee for now

tibni what breed is your dog?

I'm really not feeling hungry between meals or tempted much anymore - or if I'm tempted a glass of water seems to do trick, it is a strange feeling...is it the exercise kicking in? Or perhaps it's just that snacking is a mental habit not a physical need.
So next time I see buttered toast I going to say you are a figment of my imagination

swanriver · 25/01/2010 12:37

Lunch - lean pork chop, thin gravy, plain couscous, lots of raw red cabbage undressed
piece of wholegrain bread at 11.30 (unbuttred)
lots of walking to and from Morrisons
milky tea

tibni · 25/01/2010 14:53

My dog is a yellow Labrador - and just 6 month old but a big boy already 24kg although he is a bit skinny. He is the most gorgous boy and has really added to our family.

I think I mistake hunger for thirst swanriver. I have increased my fluids and it has really made a difference to my cravings.

Well today I have had lunch with dh at the gym. Brie and cranberry panini and it was delicious. Figure as I had burnt off nearly 1000 cals I could have a treat.

Manda25 · 25/01/2010 16:52

Hi all - can i join??

Sorry I am a little late in joining but i have only just found his site !

I started eating healthily on Nov 10th and needed to loose 3.5 stone. I started off at 15.5 (i am 6 foot) and 3 weeks ago weighed in at 13s 11lbs. Started off a large size 18 and at the moment i am a large size 14.

I am struggling a bit at the moment!

My typical food intake is: (i don't sway from this too much as i don't trust myself!)

B: Fruit
L: Salad and 1 slice of chicken
D: massive plate or veg or salad with 1 chicken breast
s: fruit (usually 5 bits a day) and a no fat yogurt - lots of water and tea (no sugar)

I did not eat any bread, pasta or rice in the first 10 weeks (or choc, cakes and crisps)

I seriously need some inspiration for other meal ideas as i am getting bored of salad !

shortandsweet2 · 25/01/2010 18:12

Hi manda and welcome!

Today I had
B - Porridge with apple and cinnamon
L half a tuna sandwich and shapers crisps
D a bean stew with rice

DoingTheBestICan · 25/01/2010 18:37

B -2 toast with peanut butter
L - bag quavers, half cheese toastie, cupasoup and pear
D - mince with veg in and boiled potatoes

I weighed in today and have lost another one lb, so that's 5lb now since Jan 1st

My DP (and he really is!)said "Oh you've lost loads of weight - you can really tell!" I was well chuffed - sometimes you don't notice it yourself

Going on a school trip tomorrow to the Life Centre in Newcastle and ice skating on their outdoor ice rink - wonder how many calories that will burn lol!

eggandsoldiers · 25/01/2010 19:20

milky coffee
water to drink
also swam 8 lengths at pool with kids

Breakfast today
readybrek - half milk half water no sugar
milky tea, and now a black coffee

swanriver · 26/01/2010 09:17

Tibni - what you said about your brie and cranberry panini (delicious etc) struck a chord.
I'm really enjoying all the food I eat at the moment instead of just gobbling it up haphazardly - I think cutting back has made me really appreciate everything I DO eat. It's made me realise nothing is necessarily forbidden - it just has to be treated with respect

DoingTheBestICan · 26/01/2010 10:38

Swanriver, yes dont worry i put soft cheese on some & marmite on the others.

swanriver · 26/01/2010 12:29

water

Manda25 · 26/01/2010 16:40

I am finding because i can not face any more salad that im just not eating ....i know doing it this way means when i stop all the weight will pile on !

Loads of people on here are doing so well ...and helping me stay motivated!

Sorry dont know how i posted twice !!

shortandsweet2 · 26/01/2010 17:30

Manda why don't you go on foodfocus.co.uk and work out how many cals that you have eaten today because you shouldn't eat below 1200 cals because as you say as soon as you start eating a bit more the weight will pile on again
