None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

shortandsweet2 · 22/01/2010 08:21

God doing how do you last with only 4 crackers for lunch?

I have some WW books at home and think I will be trying that for a week.

DoingTheBestICan · 22/01/2010 09:16

I really struggled this week i'll be honest with you but i have so much weight to lose i am determined.

I tried my swimming costume on yesterday & nearly cried,i have my hols July16th & i am hoping to lose at least 2 stone by then.

shortandsweet2 · 22/01/2010 09:45

Could you not add some HM soup because you can make that very low cal? It just seems you are eating below 1200cals a day which then put your body into starvation mode.

swanriver · 22/01/2010 10:43

Weighed in before breakfast - have lost 2Ibs since last week, in fact I think I would have lost more except I ate rather a lot of Irish Stew and sausages yesterday
my weight at 5ft 10" is now 11st 14Ibs, aiming for 11st 8Ibs as a do-able goal.

So far on this diet (no snacks,or alcohol, lots of walking but normalish meals without puddings) I have lost 6Ibs from November (despite putting some back on over Xmas)

yesterday ate
breakfast I teacake without butter
milky tea, milky coffee
lunch, Irish stew, bit of red pepper quiche
supper, boiled butterless potatoes, normal sausages, raw carrot, butterless bok choy, raw tomato x 2, raw plain watercress, bit of cod with soy and butter(two suppers, one with dcs and one with dh
walked about 2-3 miles yest

welcome any new faces, don't starve yourself, it's difficult enough forming new habits as it is...

DOINGTHEBEST, Swimsuits are not good tests of beauty and health, they are merely what we wear to swim in
water to drink

swanriver · 22/01/2010 10:45

sorry, water bit got detached!

swanriver · 22/01/2010 10:47

Actually think your lunch sounds good DoingBest, as softcheese is quite filling and delicious.

shortandsweet2 · 22/01/2010 10:52

But swan doing doesn't look like she is eating more than 800-900 cals a day - I know I would faint if I tried sticking to that

Bobbybee · 22/01/2010 12:36

I agree with you Short. I would give up eating so little.
I feel like I'm eating much more than anyone!

I've lost 2lbs! Hooray!

today its,

porridge, 2 slices toast
Innocent Thai veg pot thing
apple, snackajacks
small baked potato, chicken casserole

shortandsweet2 · 22/01/2010 12:42

Well done on the losses ladies!!!

Bobby your losing so you must be doing it right!!

swanriver · 22/01/2010 15:08

two teacakes (butterless)
black coffee
2 milky teas
For lunch I had small slice of pastryless red pepper and cheese quiche and small cold boiled potato (no fat withit) and scraping of plum crumble leftover
supper will be chicken faijaitas with salady type extras and piece of bread

less exercise planned today - maybe a bit of twirling around livingroom with kids later 'tis all I can fit in.

ebayaddict · 22/01/2010 16:20

No weightloss for me this week - I stayed the same

I've been within my cal limits on food focus everyday (I'm aiming for 2lb a week loss). However I did lose 5lb last week so I suppose it might just be my body catching up. Hopefully will be a loss next week.

Todays food
B - apple & banana
Gym - 15 min run and 1hr body pump class.
L - sausage sandwich - (2 weightwatchers saus & 2 slices granary), penguin bar
Afternoon - 3 gingernut biscuits when I gave blood Currently snacking on some cooked turkey to keep me going until tea.
Tea - chicken breast, new potatoes and sprouts.

I bought some weight watchers choc mouse puds that were only around 100 cals as they were on special in Morrosions. I'll let you know if they are any good.

Feelingsensitive · 22/01/2010 18:13

Thanks for the welcome and well done to all of you who have lost weight. Today was a bad start.

B. 2 X Weetabix
L. Sausage sandwich (using up sausages)

All fine until this afternoon when I had a pastry and nibbled on grapes/nuts. I know the grapes and nuts are OK (well maybe just the grapes) but I am eating when I don't need to be. Also picked at the kids dinner but not too badly. Out to dinner tonight. Will choose the low cal options.

Tomorrow is another day.

eggandsoldiers · 22/01/2010 18:16

Hi guys
Well done everyone, keep going all, don't give up we can do it.

welcome sensitve and shallot

I have lost three pounds this week. I have been trying to lose this particular bit of weight for over a year and so am over the moon. the kilo bit reads 76kg and I have not seen a 6 for as long as I can remember the lowest I have eeked down to is 77 and I was usually back to 79 or 80 the next day.

I think the hypnodiet is helpling, it is helping with water consumption and I seem inclined to make the portions smaller, it is hard to explainn why it is helping. But early days yet.

Work been v busy, hence not around much
today i had
grapefruit half
porridge
baked potatoe with chilli
grapes

probably going to have a drink tonight as had a hard day

tibni · 22/01/2010 21:22

Hi all,

Had a bit of a piggie dinner today - the dcs had chippy chips and a few - quite a few - did make it onto my plate of boiled egg, dry fried mushrooms, chopped tomato and beans, but I weighed and logged them and I am just in line with my Food Focus target.

Jumped on the scales at the gym and I have lost a kg which I am delighted with as I haven't done the full week.

I have a full day of training for my new job tomorrow and I assume a buffet lunch as its 9.30 - 4.30. I will take a bottle of water with me which I am finding really makes a difference to how I feel.

shortandsweet2 · 23/01/2010 06:51

Egg

tibni · 23/01/2010 22:02

Well managed to stay controlled today even though I had an all day training session and provided buffet lunch.

Resisted the choccie biscuits at each coffee break and had wmeal sandwiches, 4 veggie option small triangles (2 egg mayo, 2 cheese savory) and about 5 crisps.

Breakfast was wmeal toast and dinner a veggie stir fry so just stayed within my calories (having guessed buffet using supermarket sandwiches and added a bit).

No exercise today but will be walking pup and getting a good gym session in tomorrow.

swanriver · 23/01/2010 22:22

Only a bit of walking today, missing the exercise, and tempted to sneak off for a walk now

no snacks,
supper was 3 pieces of multigrain homemade bread (no butter)
spoonful of fish leftover from dcs
leeks and mushroom steamed with sesame seeds and soy sauce and teaspoon of sesame oil
feel completely full, but might have another helping of leeks
water to drink

no wine just know it will tip me towards the cheese...

well done Tibni, and hope tonight you get some sleep

swanriver · 23/01/2010 22:22

Oh yes, and I knew I'd had something else, 100 g of plain probiotic yoghurt..

eggandsoldiers · 23/01/2010 23:30

ebayaddict · 24/01/2010 16:42

cracked yesterday and had my first chinese takeaway of the year. Calculated it on the supermarket ready meal versions and probably went well over my cals

Today
B - oatabix w skimmed milk
Gym - 45 min spin + 1hr body pump (80 cals)
L - weight watcher chicken casserole ready meal
Snack - ww pork sausage
Dinner - wil be gammon with butternut squash, carrits and brocolli.

Keep going everyone. Shortandsweet - I reckon that falling off the wagon every couple of weeks is fine as long as we get straight back on
