I am joining SW next week and I have a lot of weight to lose (I mean over 7 stone)
Is there any one else with a long way to go who fancies a bit of moral support ??

I have tried loads of diets over the years and just feel so daunted that I have such a lot to lose. I know that any diet and exercise will work but I need to stick to it long term

I am not looking for a SW thread just a long long way to go one....

oh wow Phoenix well done!
It will probably take me four months to lose what you have in a week

Mini targets, rewards and treats is such a good idea.
We are going on holiday in March - so my first target is to fit into my lovely Boden swimsuit which I can wear to swim in instead of my voluminous huge black one!

TotalChaos · 08/01/2010 18:46

well done Phoenix! unfortunately my goals in the past have been junk food related , need to find something better.....

got my first statin medication to take tonight, it's 40mg, twice the normal starting dose, gulp.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/01/2010 13:10

TC - my goals have historically been food related too, I really must learn to think differently if I'm ever to crack this.

Well I've been pretty lame this week - no weight lost but none put on either which is an improvement.
Determined to have a better week this week!

Hi ladies been a while since i have been on this thread and i must say that i have not done any dieting i feel so depressed and low i do not know what is going on i am waiting to start a medical control diet but i feel that i have to start to do something now as i feel very heavy and unhealthy and am a shadow of my former self .SO I AM going to try and do some thing about this tomorrow the diet that i going on is called the alizonne diet i go in for my blood tests this week then i guess i will start it but i have to do something now i it is so hard as i have been doing nothing as my car is stuck in the drive.I know that vi need to cheer up but i have been through so much and when i start to exercise and i see and feel the rolls of fat i just want to cry. girls help me through this it is so tough its like food is my source of pleasure.

Luvvies · 10/01/2010 20:13

Hi Kurves. I read about your intended diet on another thread. I don't know anything about it, but on this thread we are doing a wide range of different things so perhaps someone will be along with more experience.

So what do you think you can do tomorrow? Just think about one day, or perhaps the morning even - what can you do differently, eat or not eat which will make you feel better that you CAN do this. Small steps are the only way it can be done. Sharing that one step with us on here might help you to stick to it?

I'll be around here for a while yet tonight and then again tomorrow if I can help.

Luvvies · 10/01/2010 20:15

Good going madamearcati, keep it up. I'll be posting my first week results in the morning.

Phoenix4725 · 10/01/2010 20:34

hi kurves , just take it one day at a time and if you slip up tomorrows another day, amybe start by ditching just one thing that you will no longer eat

madamecarti

good going we all need something to look forward to

Luvvies · 11/01/2010 09:04

3 lbs this week which is 3 lbs in total.

LisaD1 · 11/01/2010 09:06

Well done everyone on your losses :-)

I've just wi and have lost 2lb this week, pretty pleased as only made the gym once due to the snow!

Hoping the snow will thaw this week and I get a bigger loss!

Keep up the good work.

Heffthelump · 11/01/2010 09:23

Congrats on all the weight losses. Weighed myself after a week on the diet. 6lbs off. Pleased with that. Just need to stay motivated now.

kurves · 11/01/2010 10:27

I weighed this morning and in weighed 13stones 1 one pound. i started the morning with a glass of juice and a bowl of porridge i am now going to try and dig the car out of the drive and start it then i will be walking to town with the boys i have to get out of the house. school still closed. at some stage i have to move the car but i am hoping the schools will be open by tomorrow.

I took some salmon out the freezer to grill for dinner with a roasted sweet potato with some veg.

what i am trying to do is try to eat when i am hungry band try to notice the difference. also to try and recognise when i am full. i really hope this works i guess now that i understand that i binge eat. which has to stop.

thank you guys for taking the time out to reply and i am pleased that you all achieved such good weight loss after one week well done. Hopefully next Monday when i put in my loss it will be good. as you guys .

big belly how are you doing so far?

mrslurkalot · 11/01/2010 18:36

3lbs lost. total 3lbs.

TotalChaos · 11/01/2010 18:50

kurves - I get moments too when I look at myself in the mirror (particular trigger is my double chin)) and despair. But this is for the long haul, we need to plough on, and learn to find other ways of relating to food rather than drugging ourselves with it. I guess your new diet plan will work on that issue?

I'm finding my relationship to food changing - and not in an entirely good way - I am turning into an obsessive label scanner for fat grams/sat fat content etc. On the plus side, my supermarket trolley is way healthier - fresh fish, fruit, veg, fat free yoghurt etc. I know people scoff at fat free - but because of my cholesterol I really need to get fat intake down.

Luvvies · 11/01/2010 20:52

OK I fess up. I just fell off the wagon.

Prompted by losing 2 hours work - not saving the document when I changed a filename and then deleted stuff etc etc. My own stupid fault and I should have known better. (And trust me its not hiding away in an temporary folder, I've checked). This was on top of an already bursting at the seams week of work, again which is my own fault because I should have messed around less last week and done more work then. Looking at several very late nights this week and very little sleep.

So, I ate pizza.

Tomorrow's another day.

Better get back to the work huh?

bigbellylady · 11/01/2010 21:06

oh Luvvies - sorry to hear that.Just put it behind you and get back on it tomorrow.

I weighed in tonight and lost 5 1/2 lb so am very .

I just need to keep it up to lose the other 9 1/2 stone.

At least it is a start.

Poohbearsmom · 12/01/2010 00:39

Hi ladies may i join ye? I started on the 7th dec at 16st 3lb & this morning i was down to 15st so its def working im a sahm no money to go to any sliming clubs or gym but i have completely changed my eating habbits, the 1st 2wks i detoxed all the refined sugars, carbs, saturated fat, 'crap in other words' outa my system & iv actually stopped craving them so badly although i fully admit i am a food addict & like any recovering addict will always be an addict, jus recovering taking it one day at a time, i will always find food has a pull or a hold on me but i have tasted it all & i have enjoyed countless wonderful meals but i have never been healthy or loved myself & i have a very bad back which is crumbling under this weight but i will do this! My goal is 10st & well done on all the losses here ladies any tips going around? Mine: drink buckets of water (3lr a day min!) which i found tough n the begining as id only ever drank coffee b4 & never even touched a glass of water! but now i crave it!!

Poohbearsmom · 12/01/2010 00:51

Lifting a 2lr bottle of water on my head and taking ten big gulps counting them n my head has helped me manage it and i do this repeatidly through out the day! (im wee'n so much its hard to find time to eat )

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2010 09:50

BigBellyLady - congratulations!

Luvvies - do not worry. The way I am trying to look at this is that my new way of eating needs to be for life, and I cannot deny myself the things I like forever. I hope you enjoyed eating it, don't feel guilty - if you are anything like me that will make you eat more!!

I had a successful day yesterday and have done 20 mins of pilates this morning. Off to a friend's house for lunch, need a lot of willpower as this is where things went pear-shaped last week.

Hi PoohbearsMom

going · 12/01/2010 12:12

Hi all,

I have decided to come and join you. I have a few stone to loose. I started just over a week ago and have so far been doing well.

I wanted to join a Rosemary Conley class but the one closet to me is in the early evening and I wasn't allowed to take the kids, not even just to go for a weigh in! The leader suggested I join online, was reallu quite upset and then flet more determined to do it! Decided not to join online as there are so many free tools I can use and I have a big stack of RC magazines that I know what to do. AM currently having 1200 claories a day but from Monday can have 1400. I relasie the weight lose is going to take a while but I really want to do it!

TotalChaos · 12/01/2010 18:06

Hello new ladies! poohbearsmom - I've also drastically cut down on the sat fat, and also find I'm not craving the utter shite I used to crave. I've lost another 3 pounds, to 6 pounds total since boxing day, just need to carry it on and on.

Luvvies · 12/01/2010 18:18

Well done TC.

I'm just debating what to have for tea. I had salmon and loads of veg for lunch, so part of me thinks I won't have another "meal" as such. Some part of me is wired up to think you don't have a proper cooked meal for lunch AND tea.

But I have a lot of work to do tonight so I want to have something relatively substantial. DH suggested the rest of the pizza (I left a third) Errrr.... NO.

Any ideas in the next hour are welcomed.

LisaD1 · 12/01/2010 18:56

Hi Luvvies,

I personally WOULD opt for another "meal" as if you don't (if you're anything like me!) you'll end up still being hungry and snacking later on.

How about some Pasta/tomatoes or a Jacket potato with salad and tuna? That wouldn't be bad at all (am on ww and can't work anything out unless it's in points these days!)
