I am joining SW next week and I have a lot of weight to lose (I mean over 7 stone)
Is there any one else with a long way to go who fancies a bit of moral support ??

I have tried loads of diets over the years and just feel so daunted that I have such a lot to lose. I know that any diet and exercise will work but I need to stick to it long term

I am not looking for a SW thread just a long long way to go one....

Thanks, Total Chaos. It is a bit of a habit, but it's also an emotional thing - treating myself before bedtime. But of course I'm not really treating myself because adding fat to my fat is not looking after myself well. But it just feels a lovely treat. I quite like the small amnt of alcohol instead. A coffee would do it for me - milky and warm - but that probably isn't ideal before bedtime. A piece of fruit wouldn't do it, but a yoghurt might. (It's about texture, i think).

I'm meant to be going to the gym for a 6:45pm class, but the snow is getting quite bad now.

Clarity2005 · 06/01/2010 15:59

Hello Ladies,

by rights I should have 6 stone plus to loose lol however in reality I only want to loose about 2 - 3 stone as I have always been bigger and just want to get down to my slimmer bigger days lol

I am doing SW and have started using my wii fit daily, been doing an hour a day on that as well as walking for the shool run, have a DD who is nearly 9 but I also have a DS who is 5 months and I would like to shift some of this weight before it impacts on not being able to do stuff with him!!

So I am happy to jump on the trail with you all, you never know by the time I loose 2 or 3 stone I might realise that me not wanting to loose 6 was just an excuse lol

CirrhosisByTheSea · 06/01/2010 16:20

Well done everyone, and Hi Clarity.

Good day for me so far and two long walks in the snow which was exhausting so that has to count for something! Walking in the snow really uses muscles doesn't it.

Am feeling very uninspired about dinner though. So fed up with cooking and thinking what to cook! Might try and get DH to do something healthy tonight.

TotalChaos · 06/01/2010 16:36

3 pound, not 31, sadly!

welcome clarity - I know what you mean about being happy with 2 or 3 stone!

spiky - the muller light is probably better for you on a daily basis than the booze LOL

cirrhosis - well done for all that walking! combination of the weather and walking around loads in my job is putting me off exercising (excues eh)

bigbellylady · 06/01/2010 16:48

well done total Chaos - 3 lb is good going.

Welcome Clarity and an hour a day on the Wii fit is really good.

I have had a good day today but I did struggle.

I think I have been overeating for so many years I just have no idea how to eat normally. I have to feel hungry as I just cannot go on eating that much as it is just far too much.

I was looking into gastric banding and if I were rich would have had that done but I dont want an operation I just have to control what I eat.

Soory dd needs a pooh have to rush without checking spelling

Well, I went to the gym tonight and did a class. It was like aerobics on acid.

Most of the other women in the class were twenty-something trendy London skinnies. I thought to myself: my God, I am a 37 year old, overweight mother of two, how did it come to this? I remember being a young London skinny, going to classes after work. My life is so different now. And my body ...

I have a fitness wear question for you all. It's a bit embarrassing. I've had two emerg c-sections and also some other stomach surgery. I have a big jelly belly that hangs over my c-section scar . When I jog, it wobbles The class tonight was very high impact, although I mostly did the low impact versions of the exercises. one of the tings that put me off doing high-impact is that I didn't want people seeing my belly bouncing up and down. I need some support pants or some such. Any one with the same problem? Any solutions?

Phoenix4725 · 07/01/2010 05:21

yep i have the c-section overhang along with the jelly belly .Tescos f&f do a version of tummy control pants that seem to work pretty well

Think thats whats putting me of idea of gym all the 20 somethings and the stick thins we need a overweight time only me thinks

SpikySauce · 07/01/2010 16:20

thanks phoenix.
i've ordered so f&f light control pants in the shorts style.

tbh, i actually found all the young skinnies motivating. No one sneered at me, and them all being fit encouraged me to work harder than I might otherwise. I am very competitive And although I can't compete with them (yet!) I gave it my best shot.

Luvvies · 07/01/2010 18:12

Well done Spiky, hope you keep motivated.

Is anyone else going a bit stir crazy from the snow lock-down? I've been working from home all week (self employed) but can't get myself motivated to do some boring stuff and I have really felt like snacking today, which would be my usual trick to keep me going. I couldn't resist a two finger kitkat, but think that's not so bad.

My daily weigh-ins are showing results, but I'm going to post a weekly update on here on Mondays.

Am hoping that shivering counts as exercise.

Hope everyone is safe and well

Phoenix4725 · 07/01/2010 18:36

yeah we are here and looks like kids home tomorow to almost enough to drive me to choclate in large amounts ,

, given up trying to clean up since 5 mins later looks like not bothered,

Im going to weigh tomorrow morning as will have been 7 days of hell dieting

Luvvies · 07/01/2010 19:07

Good luck with the weigh in - let us know how it goes.
Mine are home again tomorrow too although 14 and 12 so occupy themselves and are used to me working.
Just had tuna, boiled egg, baked potato and raw carrot. Will be eating a la ready steady cook soon as no chance of a supermarket run for good stuff.
Night all

SpikySauce · 07/01/2010 19:39

luvvies - at shivering being exercise. I'm sure it burns calories.

I'm finding the snow lockdown difficult too. Although my DD has been at school, it's been closing early. I really wanted to get me and my baby back into some semblance of a routine this week. Not sure if school will be opened tomorrow.

BrokenBananaTantrum · 07/01/2010 19:44

Hi I know I'm a bit late but can I join in? I have 6 stone to loose. I was going to sw on tuesday to start getting some off but snowed in.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 07/01/2010 21:15

Hello BrokenBanana!

Hi everyone and well done, and good luck with the weigh in phoenix....

I am finding healthy dinners a bit of a challenge now - we have started to run out of fruit and fresh veg but can't get the car up the road to do a proper shop :-/

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/01/2010 21:16

Hi BBT, not too late at all, we are only just getting started!

Phoenix - good luck for your weigh in. At the risk of sounding like a WW leader or something, have you taken your measurements? I know from past experience that often the tape measure shows results that don't show up on the scales - may help to keep you motivated?

I succumbed to chocolate earlier, really cross with myself.
Had chilli and brown rice for dinner, and I've made a healthy curry for tomorrow night.

TotalChaos · 07/01/2010 21:23

think I'm going to turn into a fish if I carry on eating so much! (fish is one of the best foods for cholesterol, because of the omega-3s etc) dinner was salsa, fresh herring (it was cheap at Morrisons) and toast with flora activ. for desert I am stuffing myself with grapes.

Phoenix4725 · 08/01/2010 08:50

Hi BBT and welcome

totalChaos i freeze graps then suck on them my version of boiled sweets

alibaba

yep i took measurements not going to recheck them for a month

ok i weighed myself this morning before breakfast as am on day 8 now and have lost 14lb 6oz .though i did have 24 hrs when could not eat anything thanks to tummy bug of kids
lol guess who got digtial scales for xmas

Mind no ones mentioned it since downside so much on it does not show so easy , saying that we not been out much either

Phoenix4725 · 08/01/2010 08:54

luvies

were the same no fruit/vedge/bread,milk to be had at all here in my small town been no deliverys for 3 days now were considered rural as were down a long road of nothing 3 miles of fields before hitting town of 8k people so not exactly small and then its the sea
and we can`t get out of the town to any bigsupermarkets but have been told nothing there either

Luvvies · 08/01/2010 09:39

Phoenix that is a huge loss for a week. That's just over a stone!
Congratulations!

weegiemum · 08/01/2010 09:44

I've just realised -

my dh works away 2-3 nights a week and that's my hard time. If he is here I don't eat - cos someone is keeping an eye on me. If he's not - then its snack city!

Don't know why I didn't realise this before.

So I am going to post here when he is away to stop myself eating!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/01/2010 11:05

Phoenix that is amazing, well done!

Phoenix4725 · 08/01/2010 15:34

im expecting it be more real next week this week was tummy bug assisting.

Are any of you setting yourself mini goals with rewards.

my first goal is to be slim enough to do high ropes with my kids in june at center parcs because if they think your near weight limit they have to weigh you

need to lose 28lb to be able to do that plus few extra since they weigh you dressed wonders what weighs the least in wadrobe

But when i lose another stone going to treat myself and get my ears redone

Luvvies · 08/01/2010 16:50

What's wrong with your ears Phoenix?

Phoenix4725 · 08/01/2010 17:01

oh nothing meant as in pierced had them done way way back keep meaning get them redone.Figure more likely to stick to diet if set mini goals and treats than looking at goal weight somewhere in distance

Luvvies · 08/01/2010 17:20

Ah, ok, what a good idea.
Not set myself any treats, will have to think about that,
But I am looking forward to:
being able to trim my toenails more easily
not feeling like a real lump when I see my reflection in the train window
being able to get back into some of my clothes - am a bit limited at the moment

Need to think of something a bit more sensational don't I?
