I am joining SW next week and I have a lot of weight to lose (I mean over 7 stone)
Is there any one else with a long way to go who fancies a bit of moral support ??

I have tried loads of diets over the years and just feel so daunted that I have such a lot to lose. I know that any diet and exercise will work but I need to stick to it long term

I am not looking for a SW thread just a long long way to go one....

Hi I currently have over 10 stone to lose. I too have tried loads of different ways to do it, but never stick to it due to lack of commitment and encouragement.

I'm currently on the Shiney thread, it's a diet/healthy eating thread full of loads of chatting and fun. There is massive amounts of enouragement too from all the participants. We also congratulate those doing well, and kick the butts of those who need it (which is all of us at this time of year)

Come over and dive right in, it is very quick moving, so posting every day is advisable. That could help the diet anyway if you want to let us know what you have eaten etc.

Come the new year I am going to log my food diary every day with the thread and see what people think.

See you there I hope

I have about 4 stone to lose

have alo failed over and over again at various desperate dieting and exercise regimes

lost 4 stone about five years ago really quickly by crash dieting (really really crash) and compulsive exercise, looked at felt fantastic, then put it ALL back on again and now look and feel worse than ever, and have a room full of beautiful clothes I can't get one leg into but can't bear to part with

have stuffed myself disgustingly over Christmas but have promised myself a New Start in the NY - I want to apply for a PGCE and I need to feel better and be fitter

so this thread might be a godsend to me, if you don't mind me hanging around

matumble · 29/12/2009 20:24

Hi

I have about 6 1/2 minimum to lose, having already lost half a stone at slimming world in the last few weeks, what day does your group meet? I'm on a Tuesday, happy to chat and check in with you if you would like. work on a stone at a time.
good luck

tethersjinglebellend · 29/12/2009 20:40

Oooh, can I join?

I have 4 stone to lose too.

Put it all on when pg with DD- she's now 13 months. Shit.

I could also do with some support- am planning on a new start in the new year too. I cannot bear the thought of going to SW or WW meetings. Please tell me if they are as awful as I imagine them to be

Oh, and GreensElves, if you want any PGCE stuff, I am a teacher

twinkle183 · 29/12/2009 20:54

I would love to join but only have 2 stone to loose but really could do with the moral support... have never needed to go on a diet before... so am going to give ww a try!

matumble · 29/12/2009 22:53

sw is lovely tethers. a bit cliched and happy, but very friendly and with the right leader great fun. i lost a stone before dd3, rejoined 5 weeks ago and have lost half a stone back to where i was. shame i need to lose the baby weight from the other 2!

bigbellylady · 30/12/2009 06:37

wow - so I am not alone.

My SW group will be on a monday. I have been before and know it works but just need to stick with it long term.

Thanks Jackie - will check out the Shiney thread too.

I just dont know how to stay motivated long term. I can always lose a stone or two then just go back to my old bad habits

Lady (wont call you big belly as with some luck we will both lose those) just take it a day at a time, if you are slipping talk to us and your leader. I have every intention of being a pain in the backside if neccesary to get the help to get this weight off.

I dont know exactly how much you have to lose but 6 stone 6 which at the moment is my aim is 1&1/2lb a week for 52 weeks. thats an achievable weight loss each wek and just think how much closer you would be to your goal if you lose 6.6st

LisaD1 · 30/12/2009 12:36

Hi ladies,

Can I join please?

I have got about 7 stone to lose and although I'm doing well (have lost 2 stone since May) it's slowed down and becoming very difficult to stick to. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week (when I'm being good!) and need some help to motivate me on my bad days please!

My friend has recently (last year) lost 9 stone by doing WW and the gym so am hoping to follow in her foot steps!

I'm in. I am also joining SW next week. Got about 6 stone to lose myself. Bring it on! I'm ready!

GloriaInEccentrica · 30/12/2009 18:27

me.
am fat.
would very much like to lose 7 stone.
in reality 5 would do.
have tried and failed many many times.
am considering SW.

Scotia · 30/12/2009 18:31

I'm guessing I've got about 5 stone to lose. Thought it would fall off me while breastfeeding but it's not happened and ds is 11 months now. DD is getting married in September next year so I want to be size 12/14 by then - am bursting out of an 18 just now, so hopefully an achievable goal.

I need to find out what classes are available near me so I can get started in the next couple of weeks

PositiveAttitude · 30/12/2009 18:32

.

I have been trying since September and did well, but have slipped over Christmas. Back on track next week I hope.

Can I please come for the motivational kick up the mahooosive bum!!

matumble · 30/12/2009 20:57

PA i have allowed myself to slip over Christmas and to be honest I'm now craving proper food again! officially off plan till Monday and back on track from Tuesday but doing wii fit plus (when kids let me) and back to more fruit and things so hoping i wont have done too much damage when i go back!

Littlefish · 30/12/2009 21:00
StayingSantasGirl · 30/12/2009 21:08

I need to lose about 10 stone - I am over 20 stone (21, actually ), and that has horrified me. Part of the problem is that I suffer from depression, which means I find it so hard to motivate myself, or to look after myself, and I feel exhausted most of the time - partly the depression, and partly the effort of hauling all that excess weight round, I guess.

In fact, our lab puppy weighs in at 5 stone, and when I said to dh that I am carrying two of her around all the time, he said that sounded tiring too.

So I want to lose two brown labradors, or one and a half ds3's - either sounds better than 10+ stone.

Matchingcardiganandtop · 31/12/2009 00:10

I have about 4 to lose, I may pop in.

GloriaInEccentrica · 31/12/2009 16:17

I have just failed to get into a pair of SIZE 20!!!!!!! trousers in m&s. i am officially a blob. i have looked up SW on line and will be talking myself into going next week.

madamearcati · 31/12/2009 16:49

I would like to lose 5 stone .Can I join you ?

AliBellandthe40jingles · 31/12/2009 16:54

I will be starting this on the 2nd Jan, for definite. We go skiing on the 13th March and I need to lose 2 stone by then otherwise I won't fit into my ski gear, and will also fall over with exhaustion after about 5 minutes!
Then once we are back I will want to lose another 3 stone.

Gulp.

PositiveAttitude · 31/12/2009 18:41

Signed up for this earlier, but have just found out that DH is going to be best man at a wedding in June in Greece. I do not want to be the fat blob at in the wedding photos. That is the motivation I need. It will be our first family holiday abraod, ever. I want to feel good.

Wii fit plus will be my friend!

CirrhosisByTheSea · 31/12/2009 18:58

Hello, can I join in?? I have 4 stone to lose. I have already lost two stone from my heaviest.

I am not dieting. I'm eating 'right' and moving more. This has been my mantra and (o far) it is working. I have been like many of you and dieted before but put all back on, and more. So I am not dieting ever again.

I'm trying to take the long view and simply carry on with what I'm doing, and accept that it took years to put on the weight and may take years for it to come off......but mentally, I am just being me, I'm not 'on' some plan or other, I'm just choosing what I like that is healthy for most of the time, and making sure that I move my body more even if it's 5 minutes here and there each day.

I will no doubt be the slowcoach/dunce of the group, but my plan is to step off the diet/regain see-saw......

madamearcati · 01/01/2010 08:34

Yes I really want to stop yo-yoing too.I am doing WW but I really wonder whether SW would be better as I'm not going to have time to count points for the rest of my lifet .I did SW about 12 years ago and it seemed simpler , but it was hard to eat a 'normal' meal ie both protein and carbs as it was either a red day (meat) or a green day (carbs)
