I am joining SW next week and I have a lot of weight to lose (I mean over 7 stone)
Is there any one else with a long way to go who fancies a bit of moral support ??

I have tried loads of diets over the years and just feel so daunted that I have such a lot to lose. I know that any diet and exercise will work but I need to stick to it long term

I am not looking for a SW thread just a long long way to go one....

phoenix -is it real hunger at 8.30pm or emotional hunger/boredom/habit?

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/01/2010 13:03

hi everyone, good luck to us all - and totally agree with you ali about fitting in exercise instead of fixating on food. I honestly used to think that 5 mins exercise here and there in the day would make no difference whatsoever, but it really does. I mean the weight does not fall off, no - but it does help more than I thought!

I must say I can't wait for the school term to start tomorrow - I find with me routine is key and I eat so much better when we're all in the weekly routine. There again, christmas is the absolute hardest time of year to be trying to lose weight!

FrumpyPumpy · 03/01/2010 13:38

Me me me! Can I join?

Starting tomorrow properly, back to work after 10 months Mat leave. Joined Gym in Nov, lost about half a stone (stopped BF too), then got flu and christmas and have not been for a month... ate so much and now am heavier, and it's all gone on my bloody stomach. Had to buy bigger trousers just to have something to sodding wear.

Come on Girls! We're going to be Fab - u - less!

Phoenix4725 · 03/01/2010 15:56

think you hit nail on head ,Total chaos by that time my little 2 are down and thats when i pick because im tired and bored and lonely .and its the wrong stuff i like and thanks to kids always have it in

Also normally eat my tea once kids are down so can eat without mummmmmmmm but trying not to eat late ..

But am determined to lose weight and find something for me but struggle with babysitters etc but i will lose it

madamearcati · 03/01/2010 18:28

I have decided to try doing my old exercise DVDs with the sound down and play my own 'inspiring music'.Of course it probably won't be in time with the DVD but i thought it would ring the changes and give me a bit more motivation.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/01/2010 18:29

Thing is Phoenix, what I have done is not have the wrong stuff in (christmas excepted!) If it's 'wrong' for us then it's even more wrong for our children, imo. I'm not saying I never give DS a treat but what I would rather do now, is tempt him with a walk to the co op to buy something to eat straight away rather than having a treat cupboard. Better for all of us.

Though we have certainly had a treat cupboard this last couple of weeks

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/01/2010 18:32

oh sorry just remembered your kids are on a high fat diet just ignore my pathetic perky bits of advice

Is it a medical thing with them? don't answer if too personal.

bigbellylady · 03/01/2010 18:53

glad to see so many people joining this thread.
I have spent the last few days stuffing myself before monday which is just stupid.

I have not posted before on threads where people have less weight to lose as I kind of feel it is a different kettle of fish if you have a lot to lose. I think I have a food addiction as I am a clever professional (health professional FFS) person but still have eaten myself to be gigantic as if I did not connect the vast amounts of food and my weight.

It stops now.

I am joining SW tomorrow (eek) so wish me luck for the first week. I am going with a couple of friends so wont be so bad. I just need to stick to the bloody diet which has always been my downfall.

In 5 weeks we will be the new owners of a lovely Labradoodle called Lucy (cute puppy pics on profile) so am planning a big lifestyle change and will be doing lots and lots of walking when she is beg enough.

Phoenix I am off to Florida too in 9 months and the thought of a seat belt extension is what I am hoping will keep me going.

GreensElves · 03/01/2010 19:05

hi everyone, today was my first day of seriouly going for it - and I am fairly pleased, we took the kids to the beach and looked in rock pools and walked for ages - and managed not to give in to the demands for ice cream/donuts/stopping in a pub, just ate our own sandwiches and shared a thermos of hot choc

then came home and cooked lentil and tomato soup for dinner

kids whined that there was no cheese to go on top and that soup was boring, but tough!

am still hungry am going to drink a pint of water...

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/01/2010 19:12

hi again bbl - good luck for next week!

and well done Greens that sounds a really healthy day

bigbellylady · 03/01/2010 19:15

Heffthelump · 03/01/2010 19:28

Can I join? I shall be hoping to lose about 10 stone in total. Starting diet tomorrow. It just seems so daunting and not helped at all by me seeming to have an eating compulsion atm.

Good luck everyone.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 03/01/2010 19:49

hellooo Heff!

Tomorrow is a key day for many - good luck...

plan for me tomorrow - homemade soup for lunch. oh, and a walk.

(and cleaning up the house after two weeks with one of us in the house constantly and all the xmas toys etc. It is chaos )

PuddingPenguin · 04/01/2010 09:14

3 days in. And I'm proud to say that I've done well. My biggest achievement is actually throwing food away - it's a habit I really need to get into, rather than shovelling everything that would otherwise be binned into my mouth.

Went shopping today with DH but happily thought there's no point buying anything, I've got lots of fat (and ugly) clothes, I'll wait until I can buy things that I like in a smaller size.

I'd like to mark the shedding of each pound in a way that is really obvious to me. Eg: a pound coin for every pound - and I can buy the perfect pair of jeans with the money when I reach my target weight. Unfortunately I now live in NZ and a dollar per pound isn't so poetic!

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

OrmIrian · 04/01/2010 09:33

Well I decided to ditch the booze. If it has the additional effect of losing weight then good but it's the best thing I can do for me now.

Heffthelump · 04/01/2010 10:25

Weighed in this morning. Yuk. I've put on about 10 pounds since I last weighed myself, probably a month ago.

Phoenix4725 · 04/01/2010 11:06

how often is everyone going to weigh themselves? .What excesisce is everyone looking at ,am looking for ideas ?

Day 4 here and finding it harder as kids at school been doing housework to distract me

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/01/2010 11:07

Heff I weighed myself this morning as well, v.depressing.

Pudding I have issues with throwing food away as well. It's especially noticeable when I cook something seperate for DS for his tea, I tend to shovel in whatever he doesn't eat.

I went for a 30 minute walk yesterday and did some work on my gym ball. Going to do the same today.

Orm - we're only going to have alcohol at the weekend. Too easy to open a bottle and drink it on a school night, and then of course you need something to eat with it

CirrhosisByTheSea · 04/01/2010 11:19

I plan to weigh once a month. As I said, I'm the slowcoach. I've just been there/done that SO many times with the weekly weigh ins and it just isn't for me. I need to be gradual and give myself the time. I know it's not for everyone though.

With the finishing off bits of kids plates, I always tell myself - this needs to go in the bin, my body is not a bin! It works....I have kicked the habit

I can't seem to kick the habit of eating bread though. I really need to cut down on my bread.

LisaD1 · 04/01/2010 12:34

Morning ladies :-)

First weigh in day for me, wasn't going to say what it is but think it's about time I was honest about my weight!

So, 17st 7lb

But it is going to change, now!

Have decided to totally cut out bread, wine and chocolate for the first month (as they are my 3 major weaknesses) and then reintroduce them slowly and sensibly.

So far today I've had a bowl of cereal, a fruit and gran bar and am about to have a fishfinger, hash browns and salad for lunch. I'm following ww and am back to the gym tonight (going to go minimum of 3 days a week and do sit ups/kettle bell workout at home the other days, except one day a week where I will do nothing)

Good luck everyone, we CAN do this!

Think I will weigh in each week as I need the discipline, at least to start off with.

mrslurkalot · 04/01/2010 17:57

Oh lordy!

I am exactly the same weight as you LisaD1!!!!

17 STONE 7lb.

Thought I only (!) had 6 stone to lose but looks like it's more like 7!

I am doing WW too.

LisaD1 · 04/01/2010 18:33

Hi Mrslurkalot!

Not a pleasant start to either of our days then!

I'm feeling good about things today though, have been really good with my eating, have done some sit ups and kettle bell excercises and am off to bath the kids and then hit the gym once DH gets home. Just need to keep it up!

How have you found it today?

How's everyone else doing too?

Phoenix4725 · 04/01/2010 18:40

day 4 doing ok but argh im cooking chips for the kids tonight and jacket spud just does not seem as tasty .
have spent most day making phonecalls thpugh did walk dc to school its mile each way so thats around 4 miles

CirrhosisByTheSea · 04/01/2010 19:12

wow. 4 mile walking is great.

I did clean the house, did go for a walk (prob only 1 mile tho!) but did not get round to homemade soup for lunch. Had a baguette with salad - more bread! Phoenix like you I had a baked potato for dinner!

Plan to get on the Wii in a little while.

Hi MrsL and Lisa as well. Good on you for facing it all today and having positive days
