Well, I have decided that from Monday I am

  1. Going to lose weight and stop making excuses and put it off anymore

2)Make exercise a regular part of my life, which will mean shaking the months of dust off my clothes hanger exercise bike.

  1. Start to feel good about myself again, and imagine myself in lots of lovely clothes for the Spring. This will involve looking at myself in a mirror and thinking good thoughts

I am 5ft 3 and tipping the scales at a disgusting 12 stone 7lbs. Ideally I want to get to 9 stone 7 lbs so 3 stone to lose. Eeeek! Anyone fancy joining me?

Well it looks like my hard work has been worth it this week. I am now 12st 4 1/4lbs. Was 12st 8 1/4 last week, so that's a 3 3/4 lbs weight loss. Very happy with that. Just think, it could have been even more if i hadn't blown it on Saturday!

Have another big weekend planned this weekend. Meeting a friend who I haven't seen for ages and staying over in a hotel. I'm going to try and swim tonight and again tomorrow morning to combat all the food and alcohol i will no doubt be consuming.

It's my babies first birthday on Thursday. I would ideally like to be down to 12st 2lbs by then. All the family have loads of photos with the lo - I have about 2! I want some nice pictures of us together on his birthday and will ensure people take photos of me and him for a change. Otherwise he'll think I was an absent parent when he grows up. I'll have to make effort on my appearance that day.

Hope you all have a good weekend and well doen to those of you who have lost weight. Hope those who haven't have a good week next week.

sweetboysmum · 27/11/2009 09:56

Oh I can't count, I lost 4lbs this week.

plutoVI · 27/11/2009 13:45

Hello to everyone on this thread, just saw it now and wondered if it is OK to join even though its quite late?

Well done to all who have persevered and lost the weight... Hope to join you soon.

I promise to go walking with son every day for at least 1hr.

I will do 10mins normal pace, 10mins fast pace and keep this up.

Slimcognito · 27/11/2009 14:27

Sorry to hear you've been ill Smileyboy, and well done for your 2lb.

Mummymels - wow, 4lb great going!

Sweetboysmum - about your Saturday, it's hard when you have friends that are "into" food. My best friend is a gourmet and always wants to have delicious things (OK if you're not overweight but not for me!). Yesterday I said no, I would just have a coffee and not share a slice of Operetta chocolate gateau in the Marks and Spencers cafe, so a small triumph. But you lost 4lb anyway - amazing!

Hi Clank! What is the eat every other day diet? Is it anything like the Fast 5 diet (where you don't eat anything at all until 5pm)?

Hi Pluto and welcome on board.

I have had a decent week - done a fair bit of exercise, eaten well etc.

The scales haven't budged but I have lost 1 inch under the bust and 2 inches off my waist, so I am happy with that

Where are the stragglers? Still time to make a little difference before all those Christmas parties you know

sweetboysmum · 27/11/2009 15:11

Wow slimcognito - 2 inches off your waist. That is brill, well done you!

pluto - welcome and congratulations on your new baby. Hope you've recovered well after your CS. That's great that you are already motivated to go walking. I avoided thinking about how i looked for 8 months after the baby. Wish I had tackeld it sooner like you. Hope you find some support on here.

I was also wondering where a few of the other posters have gone too. If you've had a few hard weeks please don't give up. There's nearly a month 'til Chrismas. We'll all on here to support each other through the ups and downs of going from fatty to fabulous

smileyboy · 27/11/2009 20:15

Pluto, welcome. Take it very steady luv, you only had a baby 10 weeks ago! I wasn't even thinking of losing weight or getting into shape until my ds was about a year old and I didn't have a CS! I am sure any weight you have will gradually drop off as tings settle down and your body recovers but we are here to help assist you if you need us lol!

Wow sweetboy, 4lbs is amazing well done you! And Slim, 2 inches is fantastic! It's great that we're at the stage where we are actually seeing the results now. Hopefully should keep us motivated in the run up to Christmas.

I have lost an inch off each thigh and an inch off my hips which is great cos I am very pear shaped and those are the areas I need to lose from. Not really lost anything from round my arms or waist yet but I am sure it'll all go eventually!

Have had a decent day today and eaten fairly wisely. Feeling a few nasty cravings coming in now though, just cos dh is at work, ds is asleep and I know we bought our chocolate and biscuits in ready for Christmas today while it was on special offer! I can't eat it though, would be very naughty!!!

Good luck with the weekend ladies!

duckyfuzz · 27/11/2009 20:27

Hi all, well done to those that have persevered in these dark and gloomy days! I announced (to myself ) last weekend that I was happy with my weight and wouldn't try to lose anymore til Jan....so have eaten what I fancy this week, the result being I'm slimmer than I have ever been in recent memory I think I have let go of the diet mentality, which makes me feel denied, and had a week of being careful which has actually worked, so I'm pretty pleased with myself (sorry!) I have now gone from 13st5 in June to 11st6 this week.

mummymels · 27/11/2009 22:36

sweetboysmum - that's fantastic, well done. Congrats on the little one's first birthday too. I hope you have a lovely time for him. It goes so quickly doesn't it. Have a lovely time with your friend too.

PlutoVI - it's still early days so take it easy especially if you had a csection. Congratulations by the way on your new baby.

Slimcognito - Well done on saying no to the chocolate cake. I would find that very hard too. The inch loss is great, well done you. I have to admit I haven't done any measurements but keep thinking I should really.

smileyboy - inch loss is great too. You sound like me. Pre diet if I knew I had the house to myself I always thought about what nibbles I could have. My little treat on my own.

duckyfuzz - that weight loss is brilliant. Your attitude sounds great too. Well done you.

defyinggravity · 28/11/2009 14:40

Hello everyone.
Well done on the weight losses, you're doing brilliantly.
I've had a really busy few weeks, hence the lack of posting. Sorry
Haven't been very good up to now. Not gone far off track but not what you would call dieting, but aim to re focus now, and hopefully life wont be quite so hectic as the last few weeks have been.

mummymels · 30/11/2009 21:48

Good luck defyinggravity.

I had weigh in today. I only lost 2lbs this week which is disappointing but on the plus side that makes it exactly 2 stone altogether now so I am pleased about that.

defyinggravity · 01/12/2009 14:22

mummymels a 2 stone weight loss is a fantastic achievement. Well Done you!

sweetboysmum · 01/12/2009 16:40

I've been struggling the past couple of days, well, since the weekend. Don't know if it's because I lost 4lbs last week and I was happy with that so my motivation seems to have slipped. Went for a swim today but I must try harder on the food front

mummymels · 01/12/2009 22:53

Thanks defyinggravity.

sweetboysmum - well done on last weeks weight loss, that is brilliant. Most people probably have the odd few days when things are a bit harder. You have done so well so I am sure your motivation will come back.

Slimcognito · 04/12/2009 12:12

Lost a pound this week. I'm happy with that - I'm trying to lost without "dieting" (by trying to cut out/down non healthy food instead) so a slowish loss is fine with me as long as it trends in the downward direction!

sweetboysmum · 04/12/2009 15:42

Lost half a pound this week. Was surprised I lost anything because I wasn't great this week. Still happy the downward curve though!

smileyboy · 04/12/2009 17:33

Well done on the losses ladies. I have eaten terribly this week, just been very busy and had a lot of visits to people's houses and days out etc so I have only lost 1lb but it's better than nothing!

mummymels · 04/12/2009 21:46

Well done to you all on your losses.

clankypanky · 07/12/2009 12:53

Hell everyone, I havent been on here for a while as I thought I had nothing to report but I now have some scales and I am down to 13 stone from 13.8 so a big YIPPEEE for me, I feel like it is a real breakthrough and once I get under that 13 mark it will be really motivating. I have put a post about the other day diet on a different thread so I shant repeat myself but it was too hard for me so I have adapted it a little. Everyone else seems to be doing really well too...well done everybody!

mummymels · 07/12/2009 22:05

That's brilliant clankypanky, well done.

I am very excited. I had weigh in today and have lost 6lbs. My biggest weekly loss since week 1 when I lost 7lbs. Woo hoo, I am very excited. This diet is so easy! I never thought it would be but it is.

clankypanky · 08/12/2009 13:30

Hi Mummymels, is that a low carb diet you're on, thats masses of weight to lose in one week, congratulations. Maybe I should have a go on that! x

sweetboysmum · 08/12/2009 15:37

Wow mummymels - 6lbs, well done you.

Well done to you as well clankpanky, 8lbs is a lot. I know what you mean by getting under the stone on the scales. I'm aiming to be 11 stone something by Christmas. Even if it's 11st 13 3/4 I'll be happy! In fact, if I get to that then that means I've lost exactly 2 stone by Christmas.

I've been very, very bad this last week and a half. My baby had his 1st birthday. We had 2 family parties for him with a lot of cake etc and I ate heaps of the stuff. I also nibbled on it for days afterwards until i decided yesterday to chuck the whole lot in the bin. I cannot be trusted with any tempting stuff in the house obviously. Also been full of the cold which seems to make me eat more.

However, today I am back to being a super angelic healthy eater. Well, apart from the mini-ginger bread men I made last night. Getting to the swimming pool has been hard recently and will be too this week due to lack of baby sitters. I really think the swimming also encourages me to eat well because I am more aware of my body when I exercise. Will try to do an hour of the Wii tonight or go on the Elliptical Trainer. 11 stone something, here I come!

mummymels · 08/12/2009 21:02

Hi clankypanky - yes it is low carb. It's called Go Lower. They supply practically all your food, and yes you can eat proper look unlike some low carb diets. Before I started it I wasn't sure I would be able to keep to it but it's amazing how easy it is. The first few days were hard but once you get past that, it's fine and I don't feel hungry most of the time. It's great. Sorry I am raving on about it but as I have had a good week this week it is making me want to talk about it lots to everyone I speak to! lol!

Thanks sweetboysmum - Where are you now with your target again? Sorry I have a memory like a sieve! You are allowed treats on your baby's 1st birthday. I hope the parties went well. That makes sense about the swimming. I hadn't thought of that before but it does make sense about being more aware of yourself. It probably didn't cross my mind cos I am so lazy with exercise. I really should do more but you are doing great.

sweetboysmum · 11/12/2009 14:35

Hi, hope you are all doing well. I have lost 2lbs this week, bringing me down to 12st 2 1/4 lbs. I'm happy with this. 2 weeks to Christmas. Would like to lose a very ambitious 5lbs in the next 2 weeks. Will have to work very hard to achieve this. If I get under the 12 stone mark I'll at least feel I've achieved something.

Even though hardly any of my friends I see regulalry have commented/noticed I've lost almost 2 stones, 3 ladies at toddlers commented yesterday which gave me a little boost. Have a Christmas night out tomorrow. Have no idea what to wear Still feel as though nothing looks great on me. Hopefully after a nice bath and some pampering I'll feel a little bit fabulous.

rowingboat · 13/12/2009 00:32

Hi everyone,
I would love to join you. I have put on weight since having my son and though I doubt I will ever be as thin as I was before him, I would like to be more toned and lose some flab.
Don't really know what I weigh, but would hazard a guess at around 11.5 - 12 stones, I am 5'5 and have a large frame, broad shoulders and large joints so want to aim for a weight realistic for my build.
One of the main reasons for joining I think I need to be on a support thread to keep motivated and I would be more than happy to support others in their regime
I have had two unsuccessful IVF attempts this year, so lots of large doses of hormones, which have made me lethargic and sometimes quite hungry, followed by two months of a horrible ear and sinus infection which just hung around - during which time I have hit the carbs big time, cake a day and no exercise.

So what approach are you guys all taking to losing weight and toning up?

I was thinking of just replacing snacks with fruit, smaller portions and cutting out fatty foods and probably buying in some low-cal puddings (my weak point) on top of that I hope to use my exercise bike three times a week starting soon [suitably vague]

I don't have a set of scales, can anyone recommend somewhere where I can weigh myself relatively privately?

smileyboy · 14/12/2009 14:23

Welsome Rowingboat. I weigh myself in Boots, usually fairly private there cos they put the scales at the back of the shop and out of the way.

We are all doing different things to lose the weight. Think everyone has just decided to make small changes to their lifestyle though, whether it be less snacks, more excercise, smaller portions rather than crash dieting!

Not lost anything this week ladies but have been hitting the Christmas treats a bit early .

How's everyone else doing?
