Well, I have decided that from Monday I am

  1. Going to lose weight and stop making excuses and put it off anymore

2)Make exercise a regular part of my life, which will mean shaking the months of dust off my clothes hanger exercise bike.

  1. Start to feel good about myself again, and imagine myself in lots of lovely clothes for the Spring. This will involve looking at myself in a mirror and thinking good thoughts

I am 5ft 3 and tipping the scales at a disgusting 12 stone 7lbs. Ideally I want to get to 9 stone 7 lbs so 3 stone to lose. Eeeek! Anyone fancy joining me?

Well done sweet and slim. And anybody else I've missed.

Another not v good week here. Have put on another 2lbs. DDs have both been pukey and sleeping dreadfully ergo I've not had the wherewithall to make decent food choices. Have managed two fast half hour walks with double buggy and dog which is first proper exercise since my op. Hoping to get a one to one pilates session tomorrow. Might attempt a wii my fitness coach session if pukey DD2 settles.

smileyboy · 13/11/2009 20:53

Hiya slimcognito, well done on the 2lbs! No Im not a vegie but was having quite a meaty dinner later that day (chicken cassarole) and didn't really fancy any proteiny stuff. You're right though, I do need to make sure I actually eat the right sort of things rather than just veg. I do tend to skimp on the protein a bit as I am not a big meat eater (other than KFC ). I actually prefer rice and veg to any meat. My main problem is that it then leaves me hungry so I want to eat cakes, crisps and cheese!

How's everyone doing? I got weighed today and am now 13 stone exactly so I have lost another pound since last weigh in. Been a bit naughty today and ate pancakes after dinner though!

duckyfuzz · 13/11/2009 20:59

well done smiletboy and slimcognito I have lost my period bloatedness and am back to my weight of 2 weeks ago but no overall loss, but I am trying! Aim to lose 5lbs by Christmas now, that will do me

smileyboy · 16/11/2009 16:57

Feeling crap today. Could resist hopping on the scales (very naughty cos I normally get weighed on Fridays) and I've been really good since then but haven't lost a thing! I know it's only a few days but really felt I needed motivation today by seeing I was losing weight but it had completely the oposite effect when I realised I hadn't!

Help me not get dh to pick up a KFC on his way home from work please!

sweetboysmum · 16/11/2009 20:02

Oh smileyboy, I know what it's like when you feel demotivated and the scales don't help. Don't worry too much as it's early in the week and sometimes the scales take a wee while to catch up with your hard work. Even if you had the KFC it's not the end of the world.

I've been good throughout the weekend for a change. The in-laws visited and I did eat biscuits etc but went for a big swim on Sunday to make up for it. Am hungry at the moment depite having slimfast. Really trying to avoid the kitchen bit am finding it hard. Maybe I'll just go in and have some ricecakes and a cuppa. Got lots of ironing to do so will have the cuppa then iron. What an exciting life I read. Hope you are all getting on well.

smileyboy · 16/11/2009 22:15

Thanks sweetboy. I was good and resisted the KFC and did a healthy stir fry instead (even used one calorie per spray oil to cook it in!) It was delicious and really filling so I am quite proud of my self! Well done on being good throughout the weekend. I was really good too although the scales don't reflect that .

Still feeling like I need motivation. I tried to do some excercise tonight but I get so bored of doing it! I really am considering getting wii fit after Christmas just to try and inspire to get off my lardy bottom and do something fun.

Anyway, how's everyone else doing?

Hi everyone, is it too late for me to join? I started Go Lower about 6 weeks ago and have lost about 22lbs already. I still have a lot more to go though. In the past I have never really been very successful with diets but this one really seems to be working. My weight just seems to have piled on and I got to the stage where I really needed to do something about it.

robino · 17/11/2009 11:40

Faintly - I didn't know you before but from what you said you sound like you're a completely changed woman! Well done.

After another really not great weekend and some cake yesterday I think that I need to accept that I keep making excuses and that, erm, I need to stop!

Have done 2 good dog walks with the double buggy this week and went to pilates for the first time since having my appendix out. OH is at pilates tonight so I will do My Fitness Coach on the Wii. It is a good thing for me because after every 10 workouts (and you can input other stuff you've done too) you're supposed to measure waist, hips, thighs etc so in theory you can see changes even if your weight hasn't changed. So if you see me on here after 8pm tonight - kick me off and make me exercise!

sweetboysmum · 18/11/2009 11:24

Hi mummymels of course you are welcome here. Wow 22lbs in 6 weeks, that's a lot! I've never heard of Go lower before, what's involved with that?

Faintly - you sound so positive and it's great to hear you are making the most of yourself. I like that you're wearing stuff you usually keep in the cupboard for best. I'm going to go through my wardrobe to find things that match well, try them on and have a range of nice outfits to wear. Maybe that's common sense for most people but i usually just throw on the first things I come across! Am a bit of a slob to be honest.

Robino, I have a My Fitness Coach that i have never opened. Should give it a try sometime!

I went swimming last night and did another 70 lengths. Mum coming round to babysit shortly so that I can go again. DH home earlier these days and I've been swimming 4 times so far this week (4x 70 lenths), so after todays swim that will be a lot of swimming for a week!

Oh and that guy who offered me a lift was chatting to me again and offering me a lift.i got the impression he does like me (god knows why). I chatted but dropped in the conversation that i have a baby so he knows I'm not on the market if he's interested. If i were single then he wouldn't be my type but he has an attractive swimmers body I must say! i did have a good ogle when he was leaving

Smileboy well done for not giving in to the lure of the KFC! I agree that the key to exercise is finding something you enjoy. Hope you find something that works for you.

mummymels · 18/11/2009 16:48

Robino ? you are an inspiration with all the exercise you are doing. With Go Lower you don?t need to exercise to lose weight but I really should do more exercise than I do although I do walk quite a lot. I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Thanks sweetboysmum, thanks for the welcome. Go Lower is a diet where they deliver the food to your house which I love as I don't have to worry about what food to cook etc. and you can have treats (even chocolate!). You loose quite a bit of weight as your body goes in to ketotis. Wow, I am impressed with the amount of swimming you are doing, that is fantastic, well done. Funny re the guy at swimming, no harm in looking!

robino · 20/11/2009 07:29

Thank you mummymels. I'm not really - didn't do My fitness coach the other day. Unbelievably I came down with a stomach bug on Tuesday afternoon and was completely out of action until Wednesday night - was so bad I lost 8lbs

So weighing in today at a very unrealistic 12st 6 (have put some back on due to being able to keep water down!). Will be back up next week but surely my illnesses must be over now and I will get some exercise done soon?

Sweet - am very about swimming man - well done you!

mummymels · 20/11/2009 09:48

Oh but you have a good excuse for not doing your My Fitness coach the other day. You sound as if you were really suffering. Wow on the weight loss though, that is loads. Not a good reason for it to have happened though. How are you feeling now?

sweetboysmum · 20/11/2009 10:39

Robino what a shame you've been ill again - wow on the 8lbs! Hope you're on the mend now. Your body must be taking a wee while to recover after the op so try not to push yourself too much.

mummymels, obviously the diet is really working for you. I think I would struggle with the discipline required though!

Talking of discpiline, I evidently didn't have a lot this week as I only lost 1 & 1/4lbs. I need to start measuring myself and - maybe that will give me better results? Will also aim to start a food dairy today as I have been grazing on food througout the week and it must all add up.

Am off for a big swim tonight. My dad has given me lots of home made soup so will be filling up on that. Good luck for the coming week everyone.

Slimcognito · 20/11/2009 15:04

Oh FGS.

I put back on the 2lb again. I've been losing and gaining the same 2lb for weeks. I still weigh 179lb! Same as I did at the start.

Trouble is, now I can sense Christmas coming, the excuses are popping into my head - such as "may as well coast until New Year and then do it properly" etc.

Not good enough. I am trying to remind myself that the difference between being overweight and looking awful and being overweight but being able to look presentable CAN be achieved in 6 weeks, esp with exercise.

Also that I will feel so much better doing the rounds at Christmas if my waist is even 1 or 2 inches smaller, if the incipient double chin is even a bit less than it is now. If I leave it I will definitely be having some bad clothes days and tears in the changing rooms come Christmas.

I must do this.

smileyboy · 20/11/2009 15:30

Hi all.

Sweetboy the soup sounds delicious. Well done on the 1 1/4 lb loss. A loss is a loss!

I lost 2lbs this week so I am now down to 12 st 12 lbs which considering a few weeks ago I was 13 st 7 when I started I am fairly happy with me progress although of curse I can not really see any difference yet which is frustrating!!

Robino, your tummy bug sounds awful. 8lbs loss is huge but obviously not good when you can't eat a thing!

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Slimcognito · 20/11/2009 17:21

Well done Smileyboy 2lb is great going.

You too, Sweet. Putting me to shame this week.

Robino - gosh sorry you've been ill again. Hope you're back on par now.

How is everyone else doing? Good luck over the weekend.

mummymels · 20/11/2009 22:56

Sweetboysmum ? You are still losing weight not putting it on so don?t beat yourself up over it. Home made soup sounds yummy. What soup is it? I thought I would struggle with the discipline as to be honest in the past I have never been disciplined with food. I really thought I would feel hungry but after speaking to a friend who was doing Go Lower I thought what?s the harm in giving it a go as I?ve got nothing to lose and if I can?t do it I will just give up. But I honestly don?t feel hungry at all. It really is a first for me!

Robino ? Sorry I didn?t realise you had had an op. I hope you are recovering well.

Slimcognito ? I had to laugh at your post. Not laugh at you but because your thinking sounds so similar to me.

Smileyboy ? Well done on your weight loss. You are doing brilliantly.

We?re going to a party tomorrow evening at a friends house who normally has really lovely food so it is going to be a real test for me not picking.

smileyboy · 23/11/2009 12:21

Well we are all sick here. Been up all night throwing up which is not nice. Feeling very achey and got hot waterbottles to try and keep us going! Haven't been able to manage anything but water so far today and what little I did eat yesterday got rapidly thrown back up again (sorry tmi!).

Hope everyone is feeling OK and still motivated after the weekend. x

mummymels · 23/11/2009 21:59

Oh no smileyboy, I hope you are feeling better as the day has gone on. You sound in the wars.

I had weigh in today and lost another 4lbs so now I have lost 26lbs altogether.

sweetboysmum · 25/11/2009 19:02

Just checking in as haven't been on for a while.

Wow 4lbs mummymels, the diet is obviously working for you.
Smileboy hope you are all better soon.

Slimcognito, I know exactly how you feel and do sympathise. I think of the scales of something like getting your exam results. Try not to lose heart. We all have off days/weeks but you're making a change to your lifestyle and it's bound to show up in other ways like your measurements/skin etc over the weeks. I keep saying I'll take my measurements but never get round it it. Think one of the other girls was saying that her measurements went down even though the scales didn't change, so that gave her encouragement.

We had vsitors who love food on Saturday. I ate for Britain.I mean in a really big can't control myself kind of way. Huge lunch, dinner and then another dinner later with chocolates). After Saturday I was extra motivated to sort myelf out and have been the strictest I have been since starting my diet in August. Also had a few sessions swimming this week which has been good. Lets see if it makes any difference on Friday.

clankypanky · 25/11/2009 20:46

Can I join you all, bit late I know. I am clank, I dont know what I weigh exactly. I did weigh 13.8lbs a month ago but have been working out and trying very hard for the last month so dont think I am that now, however I cant weigh myself at the moment as my scales are broken due to my son jumping up and down on it! I have 3 children, my youngest coming up to 2, need seriously to lose weight...will buy some scales soon. I am trying the eat every other day diet at the moment even though it may be a fad, Im not sure!

mummymels · 25/11/2009 21:08

Hi sweetboysmum - That's great that your day on Saturday has supermotivated you. Sometimes I think there is no harm in having a day off because it makes it easier to carry on and I don't think one day will make too much harm. Yes, it's the first time I have really found a diet that works for me.

Hi clank - Welcome to the thread. You will probably get a real good surprise when you weight yourself again if it has been so long. I don't know much about that diet apart from what I have read on here. What's it all about?

smileyboy · 26/11/2009 13:09

Welcome Clanky, you'll have to keep us updated with your progress. Sounds like you should have lost quite a bit so far. I don't own any scales either but I am too impatient to wait til I buy some so I treck all the way into town and use the scales in Boots!

I was in town today so thought I'd get weighed today instead of wait til tomorrow and have to walk all the way there again in the freezing cold! I lost another 2lbs since last week so I am now 12 stone 10. Think tat means I have lost 11lbs since I started so I'm quite pleased really. Thought I'd have lost more this week with me being sick and not eating for 2 days but I have eaten like a horse since then so I can't grumble!

We are all better now thank God ds didn't get the tummy bug which was a relief.

Hope you're all staying motivated!

mummymels · 26/11/2009 18:32

well done smileyboy on the weight less. 11lbs is briliant. i hope you are on the mend now
