Does anyone want to start WeightWatchers with me?

I hate jumping into new threads ... everyone has a head start and they aren't all excitable about it like new people.

I lost 2.5 stone a couple of years ago, using WeightWatchers, so I know it works. Unfortunately in the last 6 months, a stone of it has crept back on and I'm really NOT prepared to be fat again. I weighed myself today, and am (gosh) 13st 1lb.

My points allowance is 20, my first goal is 12 stone 8 lb - who's with me!?

Hi all, congrats on the losses especially StrictlyBoogying - 9lbs in 2 weeks is amazing!

I've lost 3lbs since we started this thread 2 weeks ago, so not too bad. Got an email from WW yesterday about a '12 weeks till Xmas Challenge' - can't beleive it's only 12 weeks. We're going to be abroad for Xmas (somewhere hot) and I have a couple of items of hot weather clothing that I am desperate to be able to wear ... so renewed effort from today!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2009 18:31

4.5 lbs is fab

but so is 1.5

ANY loss is good

StrictlyBoogying · 29/09/2009 19:56

Well said, Blondes!
Has anyone tried Alli?

Buda · 29/09/2009 20:13

StrictlyBoogying - I have a big box of it looking at me but am scared to take it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2009 20:57

i have thought about alli, but dont want a bad botty ......

and i know from previous experience that if i stick to my points i will lose weight

saying that still pissed off with last weeks 1st weigh in and 1 lb loss - expected more tbh

StrictlyBoogying · 29/09/2009 21:02

Spoke to a pharmacist today who said the dodgy botty only happens if you eat too much fat...It's quite expensive. Do you think you can get it or something similar on prescription?

squilly · 29/09/2009 21:07

I lost 5lbs first week, but this week hasn't been too clever so far. I went to a hen night on Saturday, which included a 3 course dinner, followed by a full, English breakfast.

I'm hoping to get back on track a bit more as the week goes on, so I'll probably be posting for help....

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2009 21:29

fab 5 lbs loss and with eating/drinking - well done

i dont eat tons of fat, but i do like crisps and the odd choccy biscuit

would hate to poo my pants

sunnyhols · 29/09/2009 21:51

blondshavemorefun - I just got Orlistat off the docs which is the same as Alli and only costs for a prescription. I had the same fears as I heard a loads of horror stories and told the doctor about them and if you stick to low fat diet it doesnt have the nasty side affects.

Buda · 30/09/2009 08:17

How low fat is low fat though?

It is tempting. But scary.

I think I will just concentrate on getting into WW/low fat frame of mind and then maybe try it when I know I am just staying home.

good luck stewie with weigh in

StrictlyBoogying · 30/09/2009 16:10

Sunnyhols - do you know what the criteria for orlestat are?

colditz · 30/09/2009 16:52

I have just made a really big pot of pasta. A MASSIVE pot.

It had in

200g dry pasta
1 bag quorn mince (BOGOF tesco, very low poitns and filling)
Tomatoes
Onions
1 tin LF tomato soup
1 beef stock cube
black pepper
1 packet instant cheese sauce, with added mustard, made up to 1/2 pint

Total points 21 - HOWEVER there is at least 4 meals in that pot!

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/09/2009 17:53

quorn mince is fab - think it works out 4.5p for whole bag

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2009 19:27

Yes quorn is fab - I had 2 fillets tonight for 1 point! Just as well after last night's meal out and another planned for Sat!

StrictlyBoogying · 30/09/2009 19:33

I made a Vegetable Tagine.

Onion
celery
Aubergine
Courgette
carrot
pepper
garlic
2 tins toms
tom puree
chicken stock
tin chick peas
tin apricots
coriander
cumin
turmeric

All bunged in a casserole in the oven for 45 mins. Gorgeous and only...

1 point per serving!

squilly · 30/09/2009 19:44

I went to McDonalds for tea tonight but t'was just for Squilly Junior. I waited til I got home and had chicken salad.

I'm loving these recipes (especially the tagine...thanks strictlybogying).

Does anyone know (a) is couscous good for the diet? and b) how's it best cooked? I bought a pack thinking I'd make my own salad with it, but I haven't sussed it yet.

I could google it but am having a mad time at home...

StrictlyBoogying · 30/09/2009 19:56

I think I read somewhere that cous-cous is essentially pasta so would maybe have the same points value. It's not on the WW website though. I checked earlier so had rice with the tagine instead. The cous-cous I have doesn't have the usual nutritional breakdown on it.

Well done StewieGriffinsMom.

Thanks Strictly. I called you strictlybogying earlier...apologies. I'm not very with it!

StrictlyBoogying · 30/09/2009 21:01

Lol at Bogying...that's what my toddler does!

Buda · 01/10/2009 10:17

Hi all. How are we all doing today?

I have just been for a 50 min walk with the dog and was starving when I came back so had a bowl of natural yoghurt (not low fat though), sprinkled with granola and topped with chopped apple. It was yummy! Amd still hungry though. Will try a few glasses of water to fill me up.

We can't get Quorn here which is a pain. I did buy turkey mince yesterday and made a turkey 'casserole' which I found on AllRecipes.com. It was basically:

An onion chopped and fried in a little oil,
Add mince and cook
I added a finely chopped pepper and some garlic
I used a packet of a tomato sauce
Added salt and pepper and mixed herbs

Cook some pasta (I used a wholewheat one)

Place pasta in bottom of a casserole dish
Pour cooked mince thingy on top (you could mix it all up)
Add low fat cream cheese on top
Top with grated cheddar (I used parmesan as need less for more taste)

No idea of points and I ate too much of it but it was nice and you could make it even more low fat. The meat mixture was a bit dry - would add a tin of tomatoes next time.

I added too much pasta so have some left for lunch. Will add some chopped peppers and spring onions.

StrictlyBoogying - that tagine sounds yummy. Will do that one. DH might not even notice there is no meat in it!

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2009 11:02

Strictly, how many portions did yummy-looking tagine that make?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2009 14:15

well done stewie - weigh day is tomorrow for me
