Does anyone want to start WeightWatchers with me?

I hate jumping into new threads ... everyone has a head start and they aren't all excitable about it like new people.

I lost 2.5 stone a couple of years ago, using WeightWatchers, so I know it works. Unfortunately in the last 6 months, a stone of it has crept back on and I'm really NOT prepared to be fat again. I weighed myself today, and am (gosh) 13st 1lb.

My points allowance is 20, my first goal is 12 stone 8 lb - who's with me!?

I have just started too - joined at the weekend. Not the best time to start considering Saturday night involved chinese takeaway and plenty of red wine....sigh..

but am totally determined to succeed - I'm on 22 points and also trying to exercise daily. Lots of walking plus buggyfit classes twice a week.

I have about 2 stone to lose. Can't imagine being 2 stone lighter but would love to be! So here goes.

So I'll join you, if that's ok? Would be fab to have some virtual motivation!

EyeballsintheSky · 15/09/2009 22:20

I'm really pleased with myself today. I was so close to quitting but I managed to keep going and now I'm really glad I did. I have no willpower these days so every day I make it to bed without having fallen off the wagon is a big achievement.

cilldara · 15/09/2009 22:29

Can I join please?

Started WW last week. Down 5lbs on first weigh in which probably has a lot to do with the fact that I wore my big clumpy wedge sandals at weigh in one and my light flip flops at weigh in 2 But was pleased all the same.

Really would love to have a pound a week off between now and Christmas.Need to lose 3 stone in total.

Dh is doing it too so that really helps stop the nibbles in the evening and the mad break outs at the weekend.I find I am good during the week whe I have the routine of work, kids etc but willpower isn't great at the weekends.

So my points allowance is 22 and my 10% goal is 13 stone 3 lbs. Good luck to all!

colditz · 15/09/2009 22:48

Hooray! We have our own little clique!

Everyone is welcome, more the merrier - the more people there are to shout at me "Put the crisps down and step away from the dip!" the better I will do.

Jam makes a reasonably low point very-sweet fix.

Oh yes I forgot about the 10%. Must find out mine.

BlameItOnTheBoogie · 15/09/2009 23:10

Another Weight Watchers newbie here!
I joined on Monday but didn't want to hear my weight which has caused me some confusion.
I was given my 5% goal and told I can have 22 points. When I joined the website I had to input my weight so I bit the bullet and worked it out from the percentage since we don't have scales. But, the website claims I should eat 28 points a day. Do you start on a lower point allowance or should my Mother get a refund on my education?[hmmm]

colditz · 15/09/2009 23:16

Have you been started off on the 'kickstart' 2 week plan? You get 22 points a day for that, or 18 if under a certain weight - it's supposed to be a motivator as you will see a fairly good loss, but it's not long term sustainable.

BlameItOnTheBoogie · 15/09/2009 23:28

There is a Faststart section in a folder the leader gave me. But, she didn't really explain anything. Not even how to calculate points. I'm enjoying it so far, though!

kitkat9 · 16/09/2009 06:57

I have bought a points calculator from ebay for about a tenner - should help when I'm going round the supermarket!

Was very good last night and resisted all temptation of snacking - usually the evening is when I succumb to my sweet tooth. I need to break the habit of having something sweet after dinner!

Also will not be drinking any wine at all Sunday - Friday. It's very possible that I'll give in and have a glass or two at the weekend though....

Does anyone have any top tips? Like what to snack on, easiest recipes etc? I'm a bit of a soup addict - must look at the recipes on their website.

I was wondering this though - you know how they tell you you really should have all your points every day? What if you make 0 point soup and have that for lunch and dinner? I mean, you're full up from it, so are you still meant to use up all your points on other things?

Sorry if that's a ridiculously stupid question!

EyeballsintheSky · 16/09/2009 07:20

You can save up your points though, can't you? So if you have a soupy day then you will have points left over for treats later in the week.

My top tip, don't weigh yourself every day. I did and I've put on 2lbs since yesterday morning . I bloody well can't have, I've been angelic! Now I'm starting today with the hump and that's never a good mood to diet in.

thanks for clarifying that for me, SGM

I do like the idea of saving points up for treats! So I guess you can use your activity points in the same way?

Also, thanks from me too colditz, am feeling very gee'ed up and not alone in my quest...

IsThisNameTaken · 16/09/2009 10:08

Yes, you can save activity points up - I think there's a limit to the number you can have each day though and there's a limit to the number of points you can carry over (4 maybe?). I guess it's to try and stop you having too little as explained by SGM below.

I'm really struggling with not being able to earn any activity points (leg in plaster for last 9 weeks) - 18 points a day is not enough for me, well it probably would be if I didn't waste at least 2 of them on a glass of wine each night but not able to get out the house very much and it's the only thing that keeps me sane!!

bigTillyMint · 16/09/2009 10:23

Our leader said you could only save up a certain number of activity points - I think it was 8, and that you can't carry them over from the last week!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/09/2009 10:46

Morning all, weigh in tonight and went out last night but had scallops and ratouille which are low points.

So far today have had tomatoes on toast with a bit of cheese and a tracker but have done 1hour and 15mins hacking shrubs in the garden.

Blameitontheboogie - in the green/blue folder you wiull have a questinaaire to fill in this will give you your points day. The 22 points is fast start I think.

IsThisNameTaken · 16/09/2009 11:05

Scallops and ratatouille sounds yummy, but also very restrained of you - well done!

We're going out on sat to my fave French restaurant and I'm really going to try hard not to order the cassoulet. It's my absolute favourite thing, but I dread to think of how many points it contains.

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 11:08

Can I join too?

I need to lose just under 5 stone. I had lost one earlier this year with WW but I can't get to the meetings anymore

I need this kick up the bum!!

BlameItOnTheBoogie · 16/09/2009 11:19

Thanks Colditz and Five. Suspect I am on Fasttrack which is worrying me a bit. I'm finding it hard to eat even 22 points let alone 28. I must weigh loads. Aaarrgghhh!
I've carried over 4 points each day so far so I have cake and a latte after DD1's music class on Friday!

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 11:21

This website is brilliant for finding out points.

EyeballsintheSky · 16/09/2009 11:32

Bugger, work have blocked that website . Would have been ideal as I don't want to be consulting my book all the time, would rather no one knew I was dieting tbh.

squilly · 16/09/2009 12:43

Snack Tips/hot lunch tips from a lapsed old timer:-

  1. Grilled Mushrooms
Fry a bit of onion, garlic, tomato and any other veg you fancy in a frying pan using the frylite oil or a teaspoon of olive oil if you can afford the points

Grill large flat mushrooms

Add a couple of spoons of the mix to each upturned mushroom

Sprinkle on tiny gratings of low fat hard cheese or just cheddar if you can afford the points (I use the smallest holes on the grater, so it gives you lots of little bits)

Put them back under the grill and enjoy.

  1. Any WW Soup. It's clinically proven that food in a soup will be digested quicker and will last longer in the body, making you feel less hungry

Snacks:

Toast & Jam for morning breaks (no butter!).

WW biscuits are always good.

Low fat cappuccinos - uses up your milk allowance, but it makes you feel warm and decadent.

Can't think of any more right now, but am not back int he swing yet. Will update as we go along!

bigTillyMint · 16/09/2009 13:17

Sounds nice squiily!

My problem is eating out of boredom and when I am preparing meals I keep snaffling stuff along the way, and then eating the meal too

EyeballsintheSky · 16/09/2009 13:55

Have just had a packet of grilled steak McCoys 3 points though so not bad at all and very yummy
