Following on from my other post asking advice on Atkins, I'm going to give it a preoper go now and aim to lose 10lb by the end of September.

Who's with me - Katisha, Eyeballs, anybody else?

I'll start. This time last week I was 14 stone. I'm now 13 stone, 11lb. WOOHOO!

Today:

breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs
lunch - mushroom and cheese omelette, salad (lettuce and cucumber) with vinaigrette

No idea what I'm having for dinner, but I'm working tonight so it will be late. Suspect it might be a tin of tuna and some mayo.

I've also set up a Christmas challenge, with some fellow posters on the low carb site I also vist here, as there are only 11 weeks until Christmas!

If you want to join me on that, the plan is that we weigh every Monday and you report your weight to me, then I chart your results and post you a lovely shiney chart each week showing your progress!

We're aiming to lose 1-2lbs per week.

CAT me with your e-mail address if you want to join us.

Katisha · 05/10/2009 15:20

I'm half-tempted BIWI but I am finding that weight loss on low carb is incredibly slow for me these days...I really do think my body knows what I am up to and refuses to join in... Not sure if I would be encouraged or not by a chart.
Hmmm

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2009 15:46

Nothing to do with cake and truffles then?

Katisha · 05/10/2009 16:06

I know...

But even when I am doing it properly it just seems to be really really hard work.

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2009 17:11

How much more have you got to lose? Weight loss does tail off the closer you get to goal. And, sadly, at this stage you do have to work harder - look at what you're eating, see how big your portions are, how many calories are involved, etc

But are you sure you're not just allowing 'carb creep'? The odd bit of something high carb here and there soon adds up

Katisha · 05/10/2009 17:21

I would like to get 2 stone off.

And yes I am guilty of carb creep - the downfall is chocolate...Right - back to induction tomorrow!

ElectricElephant · 05/10/2009 17:32

2 stone off for me too really - Monday weigh in then?

Can see how carb creep would be really easy to fall into - never done Atkins before last month so holding it together so far..

Having said that I've got a few weekends of meals out and birthdays, it's gonna be tricky!!!

but to be a size 14 by xmas would be amazing...

Sausages and salad for me for dinner tonight - Waitrose organic chipolatas were on offer (£2.60 ish for 12) and only 2g of carbs per 100g (so 3.3g for 6 sausages)

hurrah, the obsession is returning

BIWI - can't CAT, but would def like to join.

can I join from the site?

OP posts:
ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 05/10/2009 22:44

BIWI - are you AP on the site? Have joined the forum under Electric Elephant.

We have the same first name.

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2009 23:13

yes I am!

Welcome ...

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/10/2009 23:16

... have left you a message on the relevant thread.

Don't know if you've used the low carb site before - lots of good information on there, but it's very, very quiet these days, which is a shame.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/10/2009 08:49

Well, my scales need a new battery. Apparently I have lost 4lbs overnight!

Whilst I would love to believe that to be true, sadly I think not.

I may have to start all over again once I've fitted a new battery.

(Just hoping that the new battery gives me the 4lbs lower reading!)

ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 06/10/2009 10:09

pppfff... just seem the pictures of me in my dress from the wedding and they're frigging awful

There isn't a single one of me looking normal, sorry - I'll post one if I find one, but I'm not going to show you one of me looking like a massive blob

Katisha · 06/10/2009 21:26

I bet you look just fine! I don't know who the woman is that keeps impersonating me in photos...

I haven't had time to investigate the low-carb site today owing to work getting in the way of MNetting, and also the small matter of having lunch in Pizza Express.

But my intentions are honorable.

ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 06/10/2009 22:11

Katisha, I can email you a pic, but dont want to post it really... would that be OK?

Feeling like utter shit at the moment.. I was so pleased on the day, I felt amazing, I thought I looked amazing (relatively), and was so happy

Then I saw the photo's. Am NOT impressed ~sob~

One question - do you ever get mad depressive feelings after weeks of no carb, and then a carb binge weekend?

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/10/2009 22:16

If you felt amazing I'm sure you really did look amazing.

Don't know about depressive feelings, but I wouldn't be surprised if brain chemistry was affected by what we're eating/not eating!

Katisha · 06/10/2009 22:44

Hey Electric - don't worry about the photo - there's no point if you don't feel happy about it! I'm sure it doesn't reflect how you looked on the day - I really don't photograph well, but if you felt good then that will have come over and you will have looked good as BIWI so rightly says!

The thing about the carb binge for me is dealing with the awful cravings, which do have a depressing effect. But it's probably your reaction to the photos that's bringing you down, rather than the carb intake, or at least in part.

ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 06/10/2009 22:56

agreed

feel much better now I'm back in control of carbs. Dissapointed about the pics though. ~shrug~

ElecTrickorTreatElephant · 06/10/2009 23:47

attempted a profile, tell me if I've bollocksed it up

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/10/2009 08:18

Which one is you?!

I would be happy to be any of the women in that picture, to be honest.

And remember - it's all too easy to focus on the negative parts of ourselves. I look that picture and see lovely, happy smiling people.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 07/10/2009 09:49

far left.

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/10/2009 09:55

Ooh - like the new name!

I think you look fabulous. Great dress and you look really happy.

Katisha · 07/10/2009 11:02

I cannot see anyone looking blob-like in that picture. Seriously.

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/10/2009 12:06

Have been hit by headache today. I suppose it's day 3 and seriously reduced carbs are to blame?

Have been good on the food front, although DH and I did share a bottle of wine last night, which I wasn't supposed to be doing .

Yesterday was:

Bacon and mushrooms for breakfast (mushrooms fried in butter, olive oil and a little Worcestershire sauce)

Late lunch, M&S at Toddington services - the hardest part of this way of eating is finding acceptable food when you're travelling! - prawns and cocktail sauce (low carb, I checked), cheese and chicken tikka

Dinner was griddled aubergines and courgettes, with a tomato, basil and garlic sauce, topped with mozzarella and parmesan, with green beans

Today I have had the same breakfast, will be having leftovers from dinner for lunch, and dinner will be chicken wrapped in parma ham, with salad and some kind of green veg - probably leeks.

Off to find some Nurofen...
