SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 09:07

OK, the 10k challenge it is . Maybe by Xmas? I actually did 6.5 but the last 1.5k was just a really fast walk as i wanted to watch the end of the TV programme on at the gym but not run any further

hotter fess up on the sausages please

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 09:09

Oh, and i'm so glad you got the 'spongy feel'. I was at a loss to describe it any other way!

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 09:18

Yes let's say by Christmas week. I do an extra one on the end as well sometimes - unless I am stressing out about ds - it's practically a pleasure after the pain of the actual run! Hots any interest?? Cyteen is an intermittent runner too I think so might lure her back here too.

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 09:23

What speed do you set the machine to? I found 9k/hr was quite comfortable but 10k a bit quick? Are we just aiming for 10k whatever the time or is there a time challenge there too?

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 09:43

I do it at 10K and the warm-down walk at 7K. I don't notice a huge difference between the 9 and 10 so leave it higher as the K's get eaten more quickly!

I'd like to be able to do the 10K in an hour but the last time I did a 10K race (about 6 years ago) I did it in 70mins and I really can't remember how fit I was then. But doing anything for more than an hour is excruciating for me. By Christmas I think I'll be happy if I can just run the 10K without pausing (although it's meant to be just as good if you walk bits & don't let your heartrate drop) and feeling fairly ok by the end. At the moment I can talk to people who stop for a chat while I run, and at the end of it I don't feel my heart is going to explode, so I know I can push myself a little.

I have creche time booked for 11.30 today.

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 10:10

Ok, shall we go for broke and aim for 10k in one hour? I have just waxed my legs for improved aerodynamics - do you think i am taking it a leeeetle too seriously?

SazZaCock · 27/10/2009 12:51

Just swum a mile in 34 minutes (a new record).

I guess the aerodynamics were greatly improved once i had removed the fuzz forest

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 13:13

Ello Cock

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 13:16

Yes I am with you on the 10K / hour AND I might add I think no aerodynamic improvement is a bridge too far!

I'll tell you what, it's actually doable. I have just run 7K in 44 mins! Warmed down 1K as well. Had to sacrifice shower for it but had a lovely one at home anyway.

Great news on breaking your PB at swimming too!

A great start to the exerSazzes this week. (We had bank hol yest so today is start of new week.)

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 14:19

Oops, forgot to change my name back after a silly thread

I have resumed my proper decorum as a Mama now

Very well done you on the 7k - i take it you only had the creche for an hour? Can you extend it to 1.5hrs so you can go for the hour? I am going to really have to go some now to catch up with you at this rate................>>>>>>runs >>>fast>>>

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 16:43

Arf at cock.

I normally find if I make some push that's it for the week, I'll be tired tomorrow & probably only do 5. After a few days rest (I didn't run Sat, Sun and Mon) I have a great burst of energy. Yes I had the creche for an hour, you can only book 24 hours in advance - ie I can't say ok this week I'll have Mon Tue Thur at 10 am - so today I got a cancellation of a one hour slot. Sometimes I could get 90 mins.

I just got fleurs!!!! delivered to door awwwwwwww how sweet I think I should be the one sending flowers to dp though considering his marathon effort. He always outwits me!

Have friend coming to supper tonight so am making a chicken stir fry, all gingery and chilli-y and rice wine and soy and sesame. She's preg so we won't be going kerrazeeee on the vino.

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 17:31

How lovely to have fleurs, what a thoughtful DP . DH knows i don't really like cut flowers so now steers clear of them, and choc obv too. So diamonds it is

Our creche you can book 10 days in advance, although not sure what is worse as i have to remember to ring on a Sunday to have DD1 in the creche during DD2's swimming lesson or they are all booked up at that time by Mon . Sadly my life is a little less organised than some it would seem

itshotterinhell · 27/10/2009 20:53

You two are putting me to shame

I was reasonably good yesterday, 2 bread buns, 3 sausage and 1.5 buns with purple icing (they were really delicious too) but then I had wine and a fried egg sandwich and today I have been out for lunch - burger and chips - and had (not much) pizza and cake for tea

On the plus side I have been swimming with the DC and been carrying DS round all afternoon, plus I have done 10.5 miles on the bike tonight so maybe not too much damage after all. Back to work tomorrow and I find it so much easier to be good when I'm in a proper routine.

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 21:06

LOL Hots, sounds like you live in a caff

Good work on the walking and cycling though. Just think in the fat old days you would not have bothered with this and had 5 sausages so you have done really well. AND we are not here to completely deprive ourselves

As you say being in a routine is SO much easier so onwards and downwards tomorrow

I will weigh and report tomorrow as away till Sat. Eeeeeekkkkkkk

itshotterinhell · 27/10/2009 21:36

You are right about us not depriving ourselves, it's just about finding the balance isn't it, and remembering that the balance needs to be a bit more on the 'being good' side if I actually want to lose any more weight

On the plus side my MIL has been so impressed by my amazing disappearing act that she has been inspired to cut out the sweets too and has lost 10lb she still brings us sweets and biscuits though (sabotage!)

Hope you are enjoying your chicken stirfry VG, sounds yummy I am not hungry already, oh no, not me maybe I will go get a drink of water and bugger off to bed.

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 21:58

Absloutely - Balance is the new Mantra

My MIL wants to know my secret and i suspect may be a little when she next sees me as she has been on a diet forever. However she is very short so it is much more difficult for her as calorie allowances plummet when you are wee. LOL at her sabotage plans - collect them all up and give her a big stocking of them at Xmas! [evil]

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 28/10/2009 07:48

balance

My body is in rag order after yesterday's run, the backs of my legs, my hips, feel like aged crone! My mum taking ds to playgroup today and had thought I would go for run but think will stay and work instead! CREAKing.

Yes to balance and hots in the old days not only would you have had 5 sausages but you would have walked right past the bike in its dustsheet.

Chicken stirfry was good, ate too many noodles though, I think, and about 5 amaretti but they are incy wincey and mostly air . Preg friend looks amazing, lovely tight bump and all glowy in the face. Perfick. Totally unlike self at that stage!

Sazz where are you off to?

SazZaVoom · 28/10/2009 08:14

VG, I am off to see Mum & Dad, sister and niece and nephew as it is half term. Then catching up with one friend on Fri, lunch with another (newly pregnant - woo woo) one Sat and then heading home! DD1 is very excited

Well since my last weigh (2 weeks ago) i have lost 1.5lbs, so now under a stone (13.5lbs) to go to target . So, technically with 8 weeks to Xmas i should be able to make it, however i have not lost 2lbs a week for AGES so we will see.

Sorry to hear of tired legs VG but it shows you were pushing yourself rather than just staying in the comfort zone which is great for building up to the race

itshotterinhell · 29/10/2009 08:42

I was pretty good with food yesterday and managed 10 miles on my bike but the scales are looking alarming so have another 2l bottle of fizzty water on my desk in an attemplt to wee out several pounds before tomorrow morning Period arrived late too so hoping there is a bit of water retention from that too . But that means I can't really go swimming this week

Glad to hear you had a good time with your friend VG. Am of the neat bump - I was a right bloater in both my pregnancies, in fact I have mentioned on here before that I got up to about 17st 10lb with DS is it worth doing it again though just to look pg and fab???

Have fun Sazz and well done on having less than a stone to go

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 29/10/2009 17:23

Have a fab time Sazz and fantastic that you are so close to your goal now! Well done.

You are right about the pushing of self. Oh that reminds me to look for something I will post later

Well done hots on the 10 miles and sorry your period will put paid to this week's swimming. Answer to your q: YESSSSSSSSS!!

I ran 6.5 today in 42 mins with considerable effort, legs still sore from Tuesday, but happy enough.

itshotterinhell · 29/10/2009 21:39

That's great about the running, well done I was going to go on the bike tonight but feeling rather tonight, it's weird but I seem to get my hormonal low once my period has arrived rather than before anyway DS wouldn't settle and I ended up screaming too and then crying still an extra 4oz of milk on top of the 8oz he had already drunk sent him off to sleep and DH made me a nice cup of tea so sanity regained here. Soon be wine o'clock too...

Think I will be lucky to break even tomorrow, especially as we continued with the Caff theme and had sausage, egg, chips and beans for tea. Was magnificent and not incredibly bad as chips were oven and eggs were poached.

Will do biking again tomorrow, still have three days to get two more ExerSazzs in

itshotterinhell · 30/10/2009 09:13

Still feeling glum today in fact I might cry at my desk if I'm not careful, flaming hormones Tried to cheer myself up with a chocolate twist this morning and of course it didn't work as it's only food so now I feel glum and disappointed with myself oh lord just ignore my whinging, I will feel better in a bit

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 30/10/2009 09:23

Hi all, thought I should pop back to check myself in. Haven't run or yoga'd for 2 or 3 weeks now due to combination of factors (skint after a run of birthdays, dark mornings making it harder to leap out of bed at 6am and pound the pavement, ill this week). Not feeling too good about it, or anything else, tbh. On the plus side, whatever shit virus I've got seems to have ruined my appetite so maybe I will have lost a few pounds after all.

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 30/10/2009 09:24

Hots you poor poppet it'll pass. My hormone-flood pattern around period time seems to have changed since giving birth - e.g. I used to get dreadful headache immed before period, now I get it about 2 days in. Ducks have a cup of tea and a roam around the non-crucial MN threads at your deak if you can. And DO get out for a walk at lunchtime - do you have anything near the office to walk to - I cannot overstate the healing powers of oxygen, offices are fatal.

itshotterinhell · 30/10/2009 11:35

Thanks VG, I went and had a good cry in the toilets and am feeling a lot better now. See if I was pregnant (with a lovely neat bump ) I wouldn't get such rubbish mood swings as this (wilfully ignoring true hormone hell of pregnancy...)

Cyteen hope you are feeling a bit better soon. Fingers crossed your loss of appetite has led to a drop.

Unfortunately I am up 2lb although blaming it all on hormones, not burgers/chips/buns/sausages etc We'll see next week I suppose if I miraculously manage to drop 4lb or some other ridiculous amount.
