Aww Ria, what a pet. I have a 7-year-old dd who is very supportive! She is always standing waiting at the back door after WI on a Wednesday night to hear what I have lost! She made me stick my 1st certificate for 1/2 stone on the cupboard door... then the stone one & last week when I got the 1.5stone one, she was so chuffed!!

Stripey - I have a food directory & the Linda McCartney sausages are 2 syns each on either a green or red day. The ones with sun dried tomato & herbs are 2.5syns each either day. So you'd be better using the quorn or adding 1 more syn & have a meaty one!! (that's if you are a meat eater..apologies if not!!)

Maggie, I am a slow loser, even when I stick 100% but I would be delighted if I could shift another half stone before then, anything over that would be a bonus! We went clothes shopping today but we just got dd & ds an outfit for the wedding, SALES ROCK!! I got DD a beautiful dress in Monsoon for £21! It had been £55! Also, got ds a wee waistcoat & trousers in Next for £9 each!! And dd's pumps were £5 whilst ds's shoes were £9! DD will wear hers again as she's big into her shoes, but ds is a trainer kinda lad & the shoes will be thrown in a heap afterwards so there wasn't any point getting them good shoes!

I'll go into town myself nearer the time & sort myself out!!

Sorry for the epic post.........

ConnieComplaint · 18/07/2009 23:53

Whoever asked about Alpen lights being a HEB, yes they are. In fact you can have two of them as a HEB

The chocolate orange ones are my absolute favourite! Though I have apple ones in the box & strawberry ones....I put them in dh's lunch though cos im not that fussed! There's toffee in them too

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 19/07/2009 00:05

thanks, it is the chocolate orange I bought. Am excited I can have 2! (DH tidied thekitchen so my books are in a pile somewhere)

leftover chinese gorgeous, but feel incredibly guilty. once tomrrow is over I intend to try much harder.

ProfYaffle · 19/07/2009 12:19

I went for a run this morning. Wasn't too bad considering I'm still getting over my cold but by 25 mins I'd had enough. Was still about half a mile from home though so continued jogging for a bit anyway.

dd1(5) has decided she wants to run too now, she went out with dh last weekend and managed to jog a mile. I'm taking her out again tomorrow.

ConnieComplaint · 19/07/2009 15:03

Good for her - dd (7) just did 40mins of The Biggest Loser workout with me! I was exhausted by the end but she was still bouncy!

I want to eat crisps & chocolate, dh & I just had an argument, I said sorry (because it was my fault, not because I am a downtrodden wife!) but he just continued to read the paper. TBH I can't blame him, I was a bitch... then I threw my trainers & a book at him I don't know what came over me, and I know if it was the other way about I would have packed & moved out by now.

My hormones can't always be blamed, I am a bitch even when not pre-menstrual.

Anyway - food wise today OK so far, though wanting junk.

AuntieMaggie · 19/07/2009 15:24

Aww connie sometimes it all gets too much and we act like that. Losing weight can be stressful sometimes and make us act in silly ways. The rows I've had with DP over cravings. He is not allowed to mention junk food cos I am quite suggestive in that if he talks about it I want it.

Can I borrow your children? DP is supportive... when he remembers!

I have a monster hangover this morning. Sorry afternoon. I didn't have much to drink last night but feel awful!

jenk1 · 19/07/2009 17:26

hello all

well i havent been on here for a couple of months, in that time me and XH have split and i havent been doing SW.

but im back on track now,in that time i think ive prob put on a couple of pounds so am pleased about that.

i was all fired up to start last week but me and DD came down with swine flu and i have eaten rubbish, couldnt be bothered doing SW, anyway ive done ok today so am back on it and wanting to be skinny by the end of the year (hopefully that will coincide with my divorce!!!)

ProfYaffle · 19/07/2009 17:50

Sorry to hear that Jenk, divorce and swine flu, you don't do things by halfs! How are you now?

Hope you and dh patch things up Connie.

I had to quickly post about the tea I've just had. I marinated a pork chop in a mixture of tomato puree, honey and smoked paprika. I used a teaspoon of honey so only 1 syn. I also did potatoes and carrots in greek yoghurt and harissa but that was a bit meh.

ProfYaffle · 19/07/2009 17:52

Doh, forgot to add, I grilled the pork chop, was really lovely, went all crispy and bbq like. V yummy.

ConnieComplaint · 19/07/2009 19:12

Aw Jenk - sorry to hear about the swine flu! Bit yukky that! As for the divorce, well, hope all goes the way you want it!

Prof, that chop sounds lovely, I keep meaning to buy harissa but I never remember when doing shopping.

Thanks for the thoughts (you too Maggie!). We did patch it up, I hate rows, which is why I apologised as soon as I did, instead of dragging it out all day.... he finally came down to our room & we had a chat... we usually get on fine, but I don't know what it is, I just feel exhausted all the time, like I could sleep 24/7.

Maggie I hope you enjoyed your night out last night!!

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 19/07/2009 19:15

sounds nice prof.

sorry to hear you've been having a bad time of things jenk. hope it all works out OK. am liking your plan

connie, I can relate to that (though I don't throw things cos I have to pick them up again) but I do tend to let things ride ATM, it will be a long 7 weeks if DH and I are tetchy with each other. DS1 is a pain in the arse too. I swore at him this morning. DH and I need another strategy to deal with him TBH.

I reckon DS2 would love to try running with me. Might give it a go.

We went to the forestry today, sensible SW picnic for me, then a 4.5 mile walk, which was a doddle,it wasn't raining either (a bit of a first for us!). Either it was a really easy walk, or my fitness levels are improving

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 19/07/2009 19:19

we were meant to be playing at the forestry playground after the walk, then having fish and chips from the gorgeous chippy in the nearby village, but DS3 was asleep, DS2 bored, and DS1 ???, so we came home intending to go to another chippy, but it was shut!

going to have a couple of beers tonight thoug.

I went to bed yesterday afternoon with DS3 to avoid a row with DH (he was irritating me). I think it's current circumstances that are making us as we are.

BTW, I don't usually swear at the boys

ConnieComplaint · 19/07/2009 19:44

Ria I don't usually throw books & shoes at DH either!

It's the way he says things though & tbh it's been brewing since yesterday at the beach! I was doing the walk/jog thing & after I had did the 1 min reps 7 times (walking for 2 mins between each) he decided to join me for 1 min... I was heavy breathing & he just shrugged & said, "huh, I'm not even out of breath! You are so unfit!" Duuh.. I had already done 8 runs.. he hadn't! So then he strolled ahead with the dog when I was timing another 2 min walk... then it came time to do the 1 min run & when I started I realised ds was way behind me... so when I ran I was getting further away from him.. I yelled at dh to wait for ds... but nooo.... he wanted to run with the dog!

The big fucker. I had to stop running to wait for ds... see from now on? I am running on my own!!!!!!!

Today's issue was a trivial matter but I was still fuming about yesterday & his being a selfish twat. (in my humble opinion!)

jenk1 · 19/07/2009 20:07

hi, feeling much better today, just extremely tired,no energy whatsoever.

however today i have managed to stick to the plan and stay within syns as well which is great.

planning on buying my autumn wardrobe in a size 14, am 16 at the mo so reckon in about another 6 weeks when i start my buying i hopefully will be that size by then.

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 19/07/2009 21:23

there are some nice recipes in the mag

I wonder if I have the nerve to try the walk/run thing. How do you time yours? I wonder if I coulld do music on the MP3? I was wondering if it would be less embarrassing on the beach, but would have to get DH to go too to look after the boys (unless I try running with the buggy again)

ConnieComplaint · 19/07/2009 21:45

Ria, I start off walking from the office to the park.

That's a 10 minute good fast walk... so when I reach the park I start the 1min timer then go for it. I stop after 1 min & walk fast for 3 mins...then go again... repeat!!

I don't listen to music but that's because the earphones fell out of my ears & just annoyed me. even on a wet day I still just wear a t-shirt as when you start running it's warm & you don't want to have a jumper tied round your waist to be kicking your heels off!!

Prof will have a better idea though, I'm simply a novice after a week!!! lol

Try it yourself without the buggy at first. It's quite hard to run on a beach. Have you a football pitch near you? Even a run around that would be good, especially if you don't want anyone to see you?

AuntieMaggie · 19/07/2009 21:52

I had a good night last night ta am a bit worried though as I have a sore throat, no appetite and am feeling a bit chesty... not sure this is just a hangover.

ProfYaffle · 20/07/2009 06:35

Ria, apparently you can get music to download onto MP3 which is designed for running to. Personally I don't use an MP3 though. I bought a cheap digital watch from Argos with a stopwatch and use that to time myself.

I do know what you mean about embaressment but once you get going you get over that fairly quickly. Do you notice joggers when you're out and about?? Most people treat us like we're invisible tbh. Maybe you could have a look around locally, see if there's a park or field where joggers regularly go so that you're among friends.

Mazzle · 20/07/2009 08:57

Hi
Do you mind if I join you? My name's Marie and I want to lose a stone before my hols in 8 weeks. I've got 2 boys aged 2.5 and 1 and since I had them my weight seems to have settled at 12stone which I'm not too happy about as I was always 11 stone pre kids. I run a few times a week (the run/walk thing worked for me and it's amazing how quickly it gets you fit!) and try to eat healthily but the scales don't seem to budge and I've still got a really horrible, wobbly tummy. I've done SW before and lost weight on it so I'm going to stick to it strictly this time and hope it works! I've also just taken the batteries out of my scales cos I was weighing myself at least once a day which can't be helpful!
Look forward to getting to know you all and to getting skinnier together!
Marie xx

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 20/07/2009 12:27

hi Maz. welcome.

I can probably time on my phone. Don't fancy the football pitch TBH, as there's training and the clubhouse here! Might give it a go on the back lane tonight if we get out.

A feeling good this week

TitsalinaBumsquash · 20/07/2009 12:30

I am so close to quitting, im getting to the same point i did last time, where i just can't be bothered.

You all need to help me battle on, i didn't go to wi last week and now im sneezing and snotty but hopefully i will go tommorrow, i haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks, i do need to go to group though as i will give up if i don't.

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 20/07/2009 12:56

don't give up tits. sorry you are feeling ill, that's enough to put me off. hope you feel well enough for WI.

AuntieMaggie · 20/07/2009 13:18

Aww tits don't give up. I must admiot I feel like that today too. Still have a sore throat and am feeling down after rowing with DP yesterday and this morning (random I'm feeling ill and he's nto being sympathetic just moaning so i'm gonna argue with him type thing) and so I am craving junk.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 20/07/2009 14:11

Its been the last 2 weeks, i get up thinking "i must climb back on the wagon" but have no will power what so ever when i come face to face with food.

I just need some maotavation (sp?) and a kick up the bum!

ProfYaffle · 20/07/2009 15:54

I've been the same Tits! It also doesn't help that I now have 2 weeks at home followed by a 2 week holiday which will make it impossible to diet. It's soooo tempting to think 'fuck it' til after the holiday.

I've managed to clamber back on the wagon these last few days but finding it a real struggle. Saying that though, I'm really into the exercise side of things atm. Been very good there.

No magic answers I'm afraid, I just keep trying to remind myself how pissed off I'm going to be in a month's time if I've put half a stone back on. Grit your teeth, onward and upward.
