New thread as old kept crashing mine and tits' PCs!

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 01/06/2009 20:45

Tits - always a mistake to weigh yourself midweek. 1lb is nothing, your weight will fluctuate day to day and throughout the day too. I've had times when I've weighed myself one day and maintained, weighed myself the next and lost 1.5lbs.

Jenny - I have that problem with my tummy too, carry all my weight there, I've never had a flat tum, never will!

Lilyloo · 01/06/2009 20:47

Oh dear just found you all on active
after indulging on way too much wine and bread on holiday!!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 01/06/2009 21:22

I got told off on Sparkles R Us fir wieghing mid week!

I am trying on a new positive attitude so even if i maintain its still ok, a slow wieght loss is still a wieght loss

MogsBadThing · 01/06/2009 21:57

Just popping on to say hello.

I joined SW last week and have my first weigh-in on Thursday. [/worry worry fret fret]

Now going back to read the thread.

ProfYaffle · 02/06/2009 06:59

I hardly use the sparkly place anymore, I don't have a food or weigh in diary (couldnt' be doing with being told off) and haven't even looked at the recipes for ages now. I need to though as I could do with re-vamping my recipe repetoire for the warm weather, meatloaf doesn't really do it for me in the sun!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 02/06/2009 12:06

I am in my element food wise today!

I discovered the first lot of tiny tomatos in the garden, i made a scrummy Tomato Salad with fresh regano, Garlic, Pe[[er and Sping Onions, it wasn't perfect becuase it didn't have the slug of Olive Oil on ti but it was still pretty damn nice, expecially with ripped up Buffalo Motzarella in it.

I love the summer for food.

I was a Chef before i had the kids and am still very much a Chef at heart, i am really missing Olive Oil for dressings and things but its just 2 many syns to justify!

ProfYaffle · 02/06/2009 12:12

You've got tomatoes already! our flowers are only just coming out. Last night was good though, my first proper 'harvest' from the garden, a load of salad leaves and various herbs to go in the potato salad dressing. Yummy. I took a photo I was so proud

AuntieMaggie · 02/06/2009 13:02

OMG we have a chef in our midst... Tits off you go and conjure us up loads of recipes that we can eat and still get thin

I have been so naughty. Admitted to a danish on the sparkly place yesterday and today is going to be another write off I can see it.

I'm working extra hours so keep forgetting my lunch and stuff

TitsalinaBumsquash · 02/06/2009 13:37

I loooovveee cooking it is my main passion in life, i have been food optamising all my usual dishes.

I have only had a few tomatoes i have several varietys so most of them are only just flowering, i have had huge great crops of Salad Leaves and Herbs.
All my veg have gone mad this year whith the combination of rain/sun weather.

My favorite thing to cook is Italian food but they used alot of Olive Oil to cook with which i can't have, that is the one thing i am missing, i have all these beautiful hommade falovoured Olive Oils just staring at my on my shelf longing to be used!.

I have been walking/cycling 2-3miles each day for the past couple of days i hopeing for a loss this week of someosrt, i just can't rely on my scales they read dramaticaly different each day!

I was going to go and sunbathe in the garden but DS has fallen asleep on the sofa!
Im really chuffed i can fit nicely into a 14 today without any over hang!

ProfYaffle · 02/06/2009 13:44

Oh, tell me about it. I'm not a chef but I do love cooking and I've got a shelf still full of last year's jam, chutney and fruit liquer. Haven't eaten any of it for ages

Our garden is tiny so we don't have a lot of veg out there but we do well considering the space we have. I've got 2 chickens, peas, 2 types of beans, jerusalem artichokes, strawberries, carrots, courgettes, swiss chard and tomatoes. This afternoon I'm going to plant my spare pea seeds to use as a cut and come again crop which is all the rage accoring to Hugh FW.

I'm on a list for an allotment and if all goes to plan I should get one in the Autumn, I'm really excited.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 02/06/2009 16:57

our allotment list is min 5 years, i put my name down last year so a loooonnnggg time for me to wait yet!

I have a small garden and i know next to nothing about Gardening! I have Pumpkin, Green Beans, French Beans, Courgettes, Sprouts, Broccoli, 4 types of Peppers/chillis, Baby Corn, Baby Carrotts, 1001 Slad leaves and tons of Herbs, Strawb and BlueBerries and a few varietys of Tomato.

I have made an extra bathc of my Tomato Salad to take for Fodd night tonight, i haope they have forks!

ProfYaffle · 02/06/2009 17:06

I've been very lucky, I enquired at our parish council just as the neighbouring parish took on some new allotment land. They're letting people in our parish have them as well as they're just a tiny village. The site is beautiful, bordering open countryside, brand new site and they're clearing it all before we get our hands on it. The only downside is it's 2.5 miles away so will probably end up driving.

Nothing's signed and sealed so I'm not taking anything for granted but I'm really excited.

Just incase anyone's interested here's a shy link to my blog all about growing veggies and foraging.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 02/06/2009 20:38

1.5lbs off tonight, im happy with that, a loss is a loss and im going to work tomwards that half srine award next week!

Lilyloo · 02/06/2009 21:01

wow i maintained was really surprised as i really over indulged!
Am trying to get back on track thought today.
Pro will def read your blog. I have just started a few veggies this year. Am trying carrots , toms , peppers , celery and herbs!
Do i need to worry about slugs ?
Just they have had a whale of a time on my clematis , hostas and iris whilst i have been away

ProfYaffle · 03/06/2009 06:25

Yes - do worry about slugs! I like the idea of organic gardening, it's just the slugs that throw a spanner in the works and force me to resort to blue pellets. I have a small garden so a small crop too, I can't afford to lose any!

Well done on maintaining and well done on the loss, Tits.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 03/06/2009 07:02

I uase Organic pelletts and beer traps, i blardy hate Slugs with a passion they ate my entire crop last year and my award winning Basil Plant.

ProfYaffle · 03/06/2009 07:05

On one occasion I planted a load of marigolds which are supposed to encourage lacewings which eat greenfly. Overnight the sodding slugs reduced the whole lot to stalks Our garden's quite shady so I think that encourages them.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 03/06/2009 07:15

Ours is shady to, all our nieghbours have large Trees in thier gardens so we have on pathc of sun! The idiots people who lived in our flat before us grew a huge Christmas Tress in the garden which we pulled out last year to reaveal another 6ft of Garden space!

The also wanted the garden level so the concreted over the whole thing and put grass on top.

Nothing compared tot he stuff they did in the flatt!

ProfYaffle · 03/06/2009 09:18

We're the same re one patch of sun. I'm demented at the moment because next door have a huge bamboo patch on the other side of the fence. It's coming up on our side, in the sunny patch and ruining it! It's also pushing up our block paving which cost a fortune to have laid so I think I'm going to have to have a word with them, not sure what they'll think of me suggesting they dig it up though

Lilyloo · 03/06/2009 22:41

Prfo def have word.
Oh dear wi8ll wiat for the rain before blue pellets
I only have one flower bed so can pellet that (have doen to try and save my remaining clematis)
But my veg just in pots and gro bags and we have a dog and lo's! Not sure about blue pellets on the lawn ????

Oh and rubbish day had chippy chips unexpectedly after taking my nan to hospital unexpectedly!!

ProfYaffle · 04/06/2009 07:02

tbh I wouldn't do anything unless you know you have a problem. Wait and see if you get any damage accompanied by slime (that's a bit of a giveaway!)

Also you don't have to use the blue pellets, if you've only got a few there are other things you can do. I protected my pots last year with copper tape, apparently slugs and snails won't crawl over it. It seemed to work. You can also put something gritty around the top of the pots/grow bags as they won't go over that either.

My garden is particularly bad which is why I resorted to the blue pellets. Also, as we have chickens, my veg are behind a fence to keep them off so it's easy to keep the children away from the pellets too.

ProfYaffle · 04/06/2009 07:05

Sorry, just re-read your earlier post, they've already gone nuts on your other plants. I'd copper tape/grit the pots/grow bag and do blue pellets around the hostas as that's where they might be living. I find if I 'blitz' their hide outs once or twice per season that keeps them under control.

JennyPenny22 · 04/06/2009 07:31

Am very at the home growing food! I tried last year but just don't have the time to keep them. I planted loads of stuff in pots but none grew! Think I was too lax with taking care of them .

This maybe TMI but I have had awful wind since starting slimming world! I mean it stinks and is constant! Has anybody got any idea why or had the same problem. Sorry .

TitsalinaBumsquash · 04/06/2009 09:34

Hmmm i had horrible Stomach ache and Wind the first few weeks of SW, how long have you been doing it now? Are you having a lot of Fruit, i think thats what did it for me an overload of fruit!

ProfYaffle · 04/06/2009 10:56

I agree, it does take a while to adjust to a new diet, extra fruit/fibre will do it but your system will get used to it.
