New thread as old kept crashing mine and tits' PCs!

LC, sorry you're struggling. I remember looking in the mirror at myself not long after dd4 was born and absolutely hating what I saw but not being able to deal with it mentally. It's only now (3 years and another baby later) that I've felt committed enough to lose weight.

Reading that back it doesn't sound quite right - I'm not suggesting at all that you should give up but that I know where you're coming from. I can't remember, are you doing this alone or going to a group? I know sometimes the group can be a bit but I stayed one day and I came away feeling much more positive.

LumpyChump · 29/05/2009 11:26

Thanks Snorris x

I do it with BodyOptimise, the online membership so not much support really.

It suits me though and when my head is committed, it is really good.

My size 14 trousers feel a bit tighter today too

Snorris · 29/05/2009 11:31

I've added you on FB (I hope!). My initials are CE and I have a pic of a baby wearing a pink hooded cardy .

Snorris · 29/05/2009 11:37

If it makes you feel any better I can only dream of size 14 at the moment!!

LumpyChump · 29/05/2009 11:55

Thank you Snorris - accepted you!

I used to dream of a size 14 too, I was an 18 for years and the day I bought a size 14 pair of jeans I cried!

I was just about getting into a 12 and then it all went a bit wrong

Maybe stress will stop me piling the weight on

ShannaraTiger · 29/05/2009 12:05

Hello, hope it's alright that I join your Slimming World thread.
I attended my first meeting last night and am feeling a little bit over whelmed atm. Hopefully once my shopping gets delivered tomorrow and I then have lots of free food it will make it abit easier.

AuntieMaggie · 29/05/2009 13:00

Aww lumpy. Don't feel so disheartened about your weight.

You have already by the sounds of it lost loads of weight and therefore if you put a little on because of the hard time you're having then you know you can lose it and we'll all be here to help

I have been struggling too, and I think you need to do what makes you feel better at the time cos at the end of the day your mental/emotional health is much more important than what size you are.

I've been eating more for lunch this week which has meant I'm not so hungry in the evenings and even leaving some of my dinner. I don't know if this will work for you but i've been having jacket potato with some hot filling (beans or leftovers from night before) and a big salad with boiled eggs and ham. This is because I planned on having jacket potato with just the salad one day and then when lunchtime came I wanted something wet on the potato so had beans.

Hope things start feeling better for you soon x

AuntieMaggie · 29/05/2009 13:54

Eek - just realised I am 3 dress sizes bigger than I was 18 months ago

Ho hum...

But although I want to lose weight, feel fat, blah blah blah, I feel more comfortable in my clothes and how I look in them.

Maybe it's because I'm now resigned to buying fat clothes whereas before I was in between I don't know, or maybe it's just down to growing up, but I feel happier.

I think the only time where I am really not happy is in a swimsuit or on a beach.

Does anyone relate to this or am I just mad?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 29/05/2009 13:57

Sorry if this has been done but...anyone know the password this week? My leader's a technophobe and she couldn't print it out this week for class...

LumpyChump · 29/05/2009 14:11

Thanks AuntieMaggie - I know you need to be in the right frame of mind to be 100% committed but I really thought I'd re-trained my brain to eating the right things so I automatically read for good things when things are tough.

Just goes to show that the chocolate cells in my brain are still there and need attention when I need attention!!

I relate to your bathing suit 'phobia', I hate taking DCs swimming, I feel like everyone is looking at me and feel like a total beach whale - so no you're not mad

LumpyChump · 29/05/2009 14:12

Hi ShannaraTiger - welcome to the thread

TitsalinaBumsquash · 29/05/2009 14:15

Password is BOXING.

I have had an ok day today.

I made a big pot of Carrott and Corriander Soup which is Free so i will take some in a flask tonight to help me combat nibbling biscuits!

I had 2x Quorn Bangers with a small jacket with cottage cheese and steamed veg for lunch.

Fruit and Yoghurt for breakfast.

Welcome new folk.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 29/05/2009 14:34

Thanks Tits. Great name if I may say so.

I've been going to classes since Christmas and I've lost 15.5lbs so far. It's tough going though.. I have dropped a dress size though which is a nice motivation.

I have to play in a netball tournament tomorrow all day so hoping i can sweat a few pounds off in the sunshine.

LovingTheRain · 29/05/2009 15:32

Can someone explain Slimming world a bit to me please. Feel stupid for asking but i think i am conplicating it in my head and therefor getting confused!

I get the whole free foods on different days, but how do the syns work?

JennyPenny22 · 29/05/2009 16:33

The syns are the extras, like sauce, chocolate and treats, you can have 5-15 a day. Basically, everything that isn't free or a healthy extra

ConnieComplaint · 29/05/2009 22:14

LTR

You have 4 HEs in a day.

2 of them are HEAs (dairy products, milk or cheeses etc)

2 of them are to add fibre etc (I think!) So that could be your cereal, or bread, or some meat in on a green day)

The syns are extra again... ie: you can live on the HE's and free foods alone & still not be hungry, but you don't have to!!

That's the beauty of slimming world... you can have you breakfast, lunch, dinner....and STILL have that bag of crisps or bar of choccie at night with a cup of tea

It's the easiest plan I have ever followed, it suits me, fits in well with the rest of the family, and fingers crossed, it seems to be working!

ProfYaffle · 30/05/2009 06:20

Great explanation Connie. I tend to live on free food for main meals, use HE for snacks (like Ryvita and laughing cow cheese) and save my syns for things like wine and chocolate in the evening.

Well despite my illness this week I've still only lost 1lb! Though saying that my tum's gone the other way the last few days and I'm feeling pretty bloated and uncomfortable so that's probably not helping either. I've lost a total of 16lbs to date so I'm pleased with that.

LovingTheRain · 30/05/2009 10:07

Maybe i should join Slimming world or atleast follow the plan. I have all the books from a friend but haven't joined up to the club because of the price!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 31/05/2009 12:12

Hello all.

My play has finished now, it was a great sucsess and soooooooo much fun! I can't wait for Panto now, i have my eyes fixed of the Fairy God Mother spot!!!

Slimming WOrld going great, i had a glass of wine or two last night but i counted it a syns and i did loads of excersise so it should be ok.

Its food night at my SW group on Tues, not sure what to take, what does everyone else take?

Hope everyoneis well.

Vey quiet here the past couple of days?

ShannaraTiger · 31/05/2009 16:45

Hi everyone

I must admit I'm struggling abit. Haven't had any sugar though, calculated I was eating 30 heaped tsps in my mugs of tea plus 2 heaped dsps on my porridge and extras thru the day so hopefully will have lost some this week.
Did have a packet of crisps at the beach yesterday and a portion of chips at Ikea today (didn't notice the salad bar until we reached the till.) Just need to retrain my brain, bit of an uphill struggle these days, hopefully by the end of the week I'll have got my head around it ready for a perfect week next week.

ProfYaffle · 31/05/2009 17:38

Hi,

I'm guessing it's quiet on here due to the glorious weather outside! Had a baddish day yesterday, we went out to this outdoor arts event thing. We assumed we'd be able to buy food there but the only things available were an ice cream van and a do-nut van. In lieu of lunch I had one small ice cream and 2 mini donuts.

I've been good today though and done loads of exercise, walked to the swimming pool, had 40 min swim then spent a couple of hours doing heavy work in the garden. I'm hoping this will off set yesterday a bit, plus my foot seems to be much better so I'm starting gentle jogging again next week.

Congrats on the play Tits, glad it went well.

AuntieMaggie · 01/06/2009 12:36

Hi all

Hope everyone is well

I had a good weekend food wise... not so good drink wise.... damn summer!

Back on the wagon now though.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 01/06/2009 12:49

I had far to many glasses of wine at the weekend to AuntieMaggie!

I just had a lovely lunch, it was from one of the Slimming World mags, i got a whole pile of them from a friend when she turned to Wieght Watchers.

It was 2 Slices of Nimble Bread that you lightly brown on both sides, while thats doing chop Peppers/mushrooms/spring onions/tomatoes (or any other veg i.e sweetcorn ect) put ont the now toated bread and top with Motzarella, your allowed 42g as a HEA and that easily tops both bits of bread, then return to the grill untill Cheese has melted. (you can also put some tomato sauce of if you wants to use some syns) it actually smelt like a Pizza and tasted lovely. It felt a little more indulgent than Cottage cheese!

Anyway, its food night tommorrow at group and im still stumpedf as to what to bring?!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 01/06/2009 14:13

Bugger according to my scales i have put on 1 lb.

Anything i can do to shift at least a pound of it beforw wiegh in tommorrow? Except starve myself?!

This plan isn't working as well ofr me this time, it work really wll last time i did it, its kind of getting me down. It must be the wine at the weekend, but i only had 3 small glasses over 2 days.

JennyPenny22 · 01/06/2009 19:48

I weighed my self last night and I have lost 4lb in 6 days! Yay! That is according to the wii fit anyway. Which means, I am now right at the top of the "ideal" weight range, instead of in the overweight section! Yay! I don't think I have been "ideal" since being at school! Lol. BUT saying that, I still know that if you do it in inches, I still have lots to go. My weight isn't spread out very well and I have always had a big tummy - I look pregnant (and it isn't just that I have had a baby recently, I have had people think I was pregnant, before I got preg with DD1 . That is really upsetting TBH and made me feel awful!).

Being very good though, I have always had syns left at the end of the day
