Toodle Pip!

dazmum · 28/05/2009 09:38

Another maintain, two weeks running, so I've obviously got to try harder this week. I felt a bit hard done by, but when I thought about it realised I'd been out for two curries in one week, which is not normal! So I must have been reasonably ok on the other days??

Some good recipes in the current mag that I'm going to try - and there's another veg curry Kid!

Break a leg Tits!

fuzzypeach · 28/05/2009 10:05

hello!!

tits where you once upon a long time ago on a "due sept 04" thread under a different name?? if so, i was also on there, under a different name too!

i did a sneaky weigh in this morning and am really pleased as have lost 1lb - meaning for the first time since getting preg with DD2 I am 10stone something! It might only be 10st 13lbs, but there is still a 10 in the figures!!! just been to the gym this morning and had a session booked with one of the trainers to update my gym program, he said my old one was rubbish and really tame (was done a month post section which is why it was low impact and ive never updated it) so he had me absolutely sweating bucket loads, but i feel great now, so hopefully this new workout will make a difference!!

thanks for all the adds on fb! will have to check out that group lumpy!

missed that programm prof but sounds good, wish i had seen it!

rosieposey · 28/05/2009 10:17

Hello all :-)

Can i join? I am really hoping this works for me this time, i have soooo much weight to loose (about 6-7 stone) and i have tried slimming world before but just keep falling off the wagon. Its the only one that works for me though as im always hungry on anything else!

I have a baby thats three and a half months old but im not bf'ing and i put on roughly two stone in my pregnancy, am a terrible cheat on diets but as i had really bad gestational diabetes and unfortunately have been left with type 2 now permanently i want to make some drastic changes to my eating habits and loose some serious weight.

I spent yesterday and today reading this thread through and you all seem a lovely lot some great tips on here and your all really supportive of each other so rather than just lurk i thought i would join in (plus it will make me stick to it more!) Am doing it with the books and at home so i dont have to go to the group locally - i did go once but didnt like it much and bubs just cried all the way through (i dont think he liked it much either!)

Well here goes ... i thought i would set myself small targets to start with but my first one is to loose two stone so at least i will be back to what i was when DH and i first met (we just got married in November ) I would also really like to have another baby in a couple of years so to start a pregnancy at a healthy weight would be good as im 37 now and think that i cant play russian roulette with my health forever.

I followed the link to the sparkly place too and applied to join, bit worried about its general 'strictness' though lol - its probably what i need

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 12:38

Well I've just eaten a morsel of thick, pureed chicken soup with a he of cheese on top. If I need to eat again before next Wednesday I'll be most fucked off

(hello Rosie)

TitsalinaBumsquash · 28/05/2009 12:56

Fuzzypeach I was!!!!!!!!! I was Charlee, my young man is 4 and a half now! eek!

tullytwo · 28/05/2009 13:14

Just wondering if sweet'n low sweetner is free? Had it this morn as forgot mine and its so much nicer than splenda so want to use it as long as its free!

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 14:30

Lumpy - I've added you on fb. Apologies to everyone on fb, I'm useless at it! I'll probably forget how to match up rl names and mn names too.

The saucy secrets cookbook has a free Thai curry sauce in it, not tried it so don't know what it's like but I'll post it if anyone's interested.

tullytwo · 28/05/2009 14:46

Yes please Prof

LumpyChump · 28/05/2009 15:10

Thanks Prof

It's nice to put a face to a MN nickname!!

I think I will be blending all food from now on due to the programme last night - so tea tonight, syn free chips with beans, quorn sausages and HE of cheese - not the nicest ingredients for soup is it .

Last night had a big glass of skimmed milk which of course cancelled out the milkybar I had with it

Also had my haircut as a way of trying to cheer myself up (not having a fab time at home at the mo. hence the falling off the wagon) and of course have lost 2lbs by having said haircut!!

**Sweet n'low is free yes...........

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 15:19

Don't think it'll be that nice lumpy, not the best photo in the world. dh put it up, I nearly killed him. (too lazy to change it though!)

Right then, Thai curry sauce:

2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp chopped lemongrass
1 red chilli, de seeded and sliced
6 spring onions, trimmed and sliced
113g frozen stir fry veg
198ml stock made with chicken bovril
1tsp thai 7 spce seasoning
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
8 tbsp v low fat yogurt

Fry garlic, lemongrass, chilli and spring onion in fry lite for 1 - 2 mins. Stir in frozen veg, cook for 2 - 3 mins. Add stock, thai spice, soy sauce and fish sauce, cook for 2 - 3 mins. Remove from heat and stir in yogurt.

As I say, not tried it, so no idea if it's nice or not.

kid · 28/05/2009 16:50

My SW isn't going to plan, but I did get out on my bike today for some exercise. Not as scary as I thought on the road, apart from some dope pulling out on me. Cars should park on the correct side of the road so that they can use their mirrors to check for cars and cyclists!
Rant over lol

AuntieMaggie · 28/05/2009 19:25

Wahoooo.... I lost 3 and a half pounds...does a little dance

Now I just have to keep it off!

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 19:51

Yay, well done!

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 19:52

V brave of you to try the biked kid, I refuse to ride a bike because I'm terrified of the traffic.

JennyPenny22 · 28/05/2009 19:53

Prof - I can't find you either?! Did you add TitsalinaBumsquash? If so, it might say on her profile "now friends with" me? Or on her friends list? If I know you added her I will look for you on her friends list too.

(Off to catch up a page at a time. Is there anyway you can view the next page while still writing a message?)

JennyPenny22 · 28/05/2009 19:55

Aunty maggie - don't be jelous of the breastfeeding. Although it does mean you can have extra healthy extras, It is soooo much harder to not eat crap. I easily eat 3 times the amount of food I ate when I was pregnant, and really crave chocolate!

ProfYaffle · 28/05/2009 20:01

Found you! Hoorah!

JennyPenny22 · 28/05/2009 20:33

Have read too many posts to remember who was asking - but the meatballs receipe that was in a mag a month or too was lovely (I THINK it was in a mag anyway ). DH is VERY fussy and even he absolutly loved them. In fact, that was the one thing he requested when I did the shopping this month.

I am mega pissed off with Asda. They did my shopping yesterday. They subsituted the Extra light laughing cow for full fat, which isn't THAT bad as I can let DD have the full fat ones and I still had the light ones in the fridge anyway. But they also have givem me normal alpen bars instead of light!! Meaning I can't eat them!! Do you think they are OK to give to a 18month old? Otherwise I don't know what else to do with them? They weren't even listed as a subsitute, so I assumed they gave me the correct ones till I went to eat one! They also have forgotten my Lamb mince, meaning I can't make the meatloaf! Or can I do it with beef or pork mince?

I have been on my Wii again. It is really boring me now though. There isn't much on there that actually lets me work up a sweat? I have pulled arm musles doing the wii sports though, so I guess it is toning at least?

ProfYaffle · 29/05/2009 06:25

Jenny - Boo for Asda, that sound very poor. Pork or beef would work well in the meatloaf though if you're using extra lean mince it may need an egg to hold it together.

If you're bored on the Wii it may be time to find something else, there's no way you'll stick to something that bores you. We don't have a Wii but we've had a go on bil's and, tbh, I shared your view that there wasn't much aerobic work on it.

ProfYaffle · 29/05/2009 07:23

Jenny, just seen your message on the sparkly place re soup. My soup yesterday was made from leftover roast chicken, thought I'd post the recipe here as they're a bit funny about recipes outside the recipe board over there!

I fried some chopped onion in frylight, added the chicken plus a carton of passata, bottled peppers, splash of chicken bovril stock, garlic granules, dried thyme, pinch of sweetener, salt and pepper. Simmered til warmed through then pureed with a stick blender. Added torn fresh basil, served with parmasan. Was v thick and orange but tasted really nice and filled me up for ages.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 29/05/2009 08:57

Morning all.

I was a tad naughty last night, i had to make Coconut Ice and a large Double Chocolate Fudge Cake for tonight preformace, i may definatley did have had a finger full or 2 or chocolate fudge frosting and real butter cream icing.

Must try harder today!

AuntieMaggie · 29/05/2009 09:21

Tully meatballs recipe (my version anyway)that Jenny said was lovely. I haven't tried it yet but have tried a similar recipe and was very nice.

Meatballs:
3 garlic cloves
511g lean mice pork (though could use beef)
1tbsp fennel seeds
1tsp cumin
2tsp cinnamon
seasoning

mush together to make meatballs

Sauce:
1 onion
1 garlic
1 carrot
2 celery
tinned toms

chuck in a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 30 mins. Then blend until smooth.

Fry meatballs in frylight until browned then add to sauce and simmer for 10 mins.

Serve with spagetti. Voila. Free extra easy meatballs.

AuntieMaggie · 29/05/2009 09:28

Morning all by the way

I would recommend buying the SW magazines as they have some really fab recipes in and also news about other healthy extras which is good to know as well as suggested meal plans.

Also, when you go to class my leader has some recipe stuff on the table like pages from old mags - if yours does the same take a pad and pen with you and make a copy of the recipes.

I too am too scared of the nutter motorists round here to brave my bike!

LumpyChump · 29/05/2009 10:10

Hi all

Gosh I'm struggling. Having a hard time emotionally and physically at home at the moment and can't get my head into it. Really trying but it's sooooo hard!!

Spent about an hour crying last night and just HAD to have chocolate

I really really don't want to put back on the weight I've already lost because that would make me feel worse than I already do.

Perhaps I should go back on Cambridge Diet so I'm not tempted by food???

(Need a hug)
