Having always been chunky since I was about 17, now I am really at breaking point. I have started so many healthy eating plans in the past and never get beyond the first week until now.

I don't really want to do a 'diet' as such, just cut down on the calories and excercise sensibly. I don't think I could or (want to) cut any food groups out so so far I have been just making healthier choices. More fruit and veg, not snacking on biscuits/ crisps etc. For quick and easy meals, I have been using the weight watchers prepared meals which are suprisingly tastey.

I am 5ft 8 and weighed 13stone 13lbs two weeks ago. Meaning I am nearly obese according to the body mass index. For the past 2 weeks I have been watching what I eat and going swimming twice a week. I now weigh 13stone 7lbs which I am pleased the healthy eating/ fitness plan seems to be working although I am still suffering from cravings and need motivation from you nice mnetters!

My waist is around a size 12 which is fine by me but all my fat seems to collect on my thighs and bum, meaning I have to buy size 18 jeans just to fit over my legs and then they just gape and look horrid around my waist. Nothing fits comfortably on my bottom half, I am so out of proportion.

I have 20 month old ds who keeps me busy but I do feel that having eaten all his left overs and snacking everytime he does for the past 20 months has not been kind to my wobbly bits!!

So that's the story so far.... anyone want o join in or share their stories??

I have been doing really well this week, I am now wanting snacks just because dh is watching football and I am bored. The fidelity argument doesnt even work because if he can watch football I can do wtf I like.

caramelwaffle · 06/05/2009 00:33

I have started a food diary from today. Will post with weigh in day.

savageisfat · 06/05/2009 08:09

lol sockmmonster, I know what you mean, dh was glued to it aswell , unfortunately I did cave in and eat some cookies but only 2 instead of a whole packet!

hello again all.

I've been doing astonishingly badly . What you said here savage:

"The hardest thing I've found is after a bad weekend or a bit of a binge, trying to get refocused again. I keep thinking '....oh well I'll start again tomorrow and just have one more day of eating cheesecake and junk!'"

Just fits my frame of mind at the moment perfectly. I've had the period from hell and been under the weather generally so I've been comfort eating and can't get back into the right mindset. I haven't been on the wii for ages and just don't dare weigh myself. .

I also got a bit sick of it, thinking about food and calories and wondering if I've done enough exercise and all that. I kind of rebelled against it all. Does that make sense? Could really use a kick up the arse pep talk at the moment...

alicecrail · 06/05/2009 08:29

Hello all
I have been thinking a lot about diet/exercise lately (went racing on saturday and felt fat and frumpy) and when i am slightly hungry i actually feel more energetic and feel like 'doing' something. When i have actually eaten i just want to keep eating or sit and read a book or something. I think i may be better off eating little and often rather than 3 meals a day and getting so hungry i snack whilst i am cooking and then eat my meal and feel very full and sleepy iyswim. So this could be where i am going wrong. By waiting for the 3 meals i am setting myself up for failure, but by having say 1 piece of toast at breakfast and 1 piece at 10.30ish, i am still eating the same as i would if only having 3 meals but spreading it out more. Does that make sense?

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 06/05/2009 09:07

Can I join? I have put off joining but I think I need some motivation now. I was a size 12 but ballooned up to a size 22 (through food and stress. No kids to blame it on). I am now back down to an 18 but still need to lose more. I am meeting my ex in October and can't see him like this (I am not happy with myself so I am doing it for me not him...well him a little bit) and I need to lose weight for work too.

I've managed to drop another pound - down to 11st 0 now. I seem to have got back on track for a dull-but-reliable pound a week lately, which is great so far as I'm concerned. I knew I wouldn't be dropping huge amounts this way, as I'm just going for slightly smaller portions and avoiding trips to Greggs, but if I can just make the new eating pattern into a habit, then I should be able to continue at this rate until I get down to where I'd like to be, then stay there.

On an "admin" note, we've got quite a long list here, and I think a few people on it haven't been back since the start. If they're lurking and getting encouragement from this thread, I'd hate for them to feel unwelcome, but I was wondering if maybe we should trim the list to those who are/have been weighing in?

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 07/05/2009 09:36

Feel free to put yours in Kg if that's what you weigh yourself in. I'm an oldie who can't think in those terms, but I can tell "getting less" in any numbers . And that's a big loss, so well done!

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 07/05/2009 10:27

Thanks for that. I am quite muscley too so dress size is more important then weight (i know I will bever be a size 10). Got to get down to 80kg by october...or close to it.

so put on 1lb, am so fed up of going up and down with no reason for it- i've been pretty good this week, and done pilates and netball, lots of walking too. I have just come on for the first period since having ds 7months ago so I do wonder if that might make a difference?

savageisfat · 08/05/2009 08:31

plusone your period can make a big difference to you weight and the amount of water you retain.

Goldberry well done on the pound loss!

I am back on track now so hopefully will be celebrating a loss next week.

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
I have just been on the wii all morning as dh took dd's to ballet, i love watching the weight graph go down.

alicecrail · 09/05/2009 11:51

Well done sock
I have just been to my friends mum's cake stall and got some lovely munchies but did go and run around the park with dd for half an hour afterwards and i am hoping to ride this afternoon and possibly compete tomorrow.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 09/05/2009 11:59

always makes me feel nostalgic reading your posts, I used to keep horses when i was younger. wouldnt dare go near one now though

alicecrail · 09/05/2009 12:44

Sometimes i don't want to go near mine either - the dirty beasts!!
I have actually had an enormous loss of confidence in the last few years due to being trampled by a loose horse whilst pregnant and breaking my leg in 4 places. Also i am more aware of the dangers because of becoming a mum. I am happy with my two but anyone elses really scare me.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 12/05/2009 11:14

where are you all, hope you are not hiding in the corner pigging out

alicecrail · 12/05/2009 12:24

Erm.... a little bit

I did compete my horse on sunday and i am still suffering!
