Having always been chunky since I was about 17, now I am really at breaking point. I have started so many healthy eating plans in the past and never get beyond the first week until now.

I don't really want to do a 'diet' as such, just cut down on the calories and excercise sensibly. I don't think I could or (want to) cut any food groups out so so far I have been just making healthier choices. More fruit and veg, not snacking on biscuits/ crisps etc. For quick and easy meals, I have been using the weight watchers prepared meals which are suprisingly tastey.

I am 5ft 8 and weighed 13stone 13lbs two weeks ago. Meaning I am nearly obese according to the body mass index. For the past 2 weeks I have been watching what I eat and going swimming twice a week. I now weigh 13stone 7lbs which I am pleased the healthy eating/ fitness plan seems to be working although I am still suffering from cravings and need motivation from you nice mnetters!

My waist is around a size 12 which is fine by me but all my fat seems to collect on my thighs and bum, meaning I have to buy size 18 jeans just to fit over my legs and then they just gape and look horrid around my waist. Nothing fits comfortably on my bottom half, I am so out of proportion.

I have 20 month old ds who keeps me busy but I do feel that having eaten all his left overs and snacking everytime he does for the past 20 months has not been kind to my wobbly bits!!

So that's the story so far.... anyone want o join in or share their stories??

morning all!

I'm taking a break from the weigh in this week. It's time of month and I've got a cold (it's not swine flu!). I've been comfort eating and I know I won't have lost anything so I'm going to spare myself the heartache and just resolve to pick things up for next week. Can I have a get out of jail free card this week?

Pluseone - DH brought me some of those mikado sticks last week - thought they'd be ok as they're only 11 calories each, bless him. Doesn't quite work when you have about 30 of them though

Good luck everyone else. How you doing now sock?

alicecrail · 30/04/2009 08:22

Nanny, you may be surprised i have had rather a bad week and haven't ridden at all but have lost 2lbs, i have no idea how, can only guess it is just usual dips and peaks

Glad to hear the back is improving, savage.

I've managed to shift another pound this week - not exactly startling progress, but I seem to be managing to gradually lose it and keep it off, which is what I'm aiming for with this, so I'm happy.

Goldberry · 01/05/2009 08:03

Still no change for me, which is a bit annoying as I've been going running quite a bit. Maybe I'm exchanging some fat for some muscle . I think the trouble is that I'm not being as strict as I was when I first started losing weight. My bp has gone down a bit so I haven't got quite the level of motivation I had before. I'm only half way to my target weight of 10 and a half stone though, so I need to start being strict again!

mamadiva · 01/05/2009 08:14

Hiya I know I'm late to this but could I join?

Need some motivation and can't get to WW etc due to work commitments.

I am quite a bit overweight though need to lose about 6st , making some positive steps to get there though so yeay!

savageisfat · 01/05/2009 08:45

Welcome mamadiva, we are all trying to lose different amounts of weight sensibly and trying to keep it off. I don't think any of us are doing particularly strict diets or following any diet plans as such, just eating healthier smaller portions and trying to get active when possible. Let us know how you get on and we have a weigh in every thursday which you are welcome to join in with or you can keep your weight to yourself if you feel more comfortable doing so. Bottom line is that we are here to support eachother and give motivation!

All going OK here, had a bad few days with eating junk cos my back was so painful I just couldn't be bothered to cook and excercise was not an option! Anyway, hoping to get back on track now, it's still a bit sore but is getting better.

I was adding up last night how many more pounds I had to lose. I started at 13st 13 2 weeks before I started this thread, I'm now 12 st 11 after 7 weeks of diet and excercise but I still have about 35lbs to go !!!! That just sounds such a lot doesn't it?? I am trying not to think about it or I'll get overwhelmed. I've managed 16lbs loss so far so I keep trying to be positive. I still don't feel that I look any different though so I am struggling for motivation.

Hope everyone is OK and feeling good.

Why thank you ladies!

I am not particularly shy about my weight I have to say I am that annoyingly, happy, bubbly girl who draws attention to my personality to take the attention away from my size!

I just want to lose weight for my health more than anything else so I can do all the normal things with my son we were playing football the other day and I was pooped after about 2 minutes!

Well I will just go weigh myself...oh dear 16st 5lbs and I am only 5ft 3 !!!

I will aim for 7lbs by the end of May

savage I'm sure others will notice the cange in you16lbs is very good so WD you!!!

35lbs is'nt too bad! Think about you will most prob lose what and average of 5lbs a month (approx and allowing for the odd put on) that means by November you could be your target weight! That is'nt too bad and means you'll have a whole new you (and wardrobe ;)) to start 2010 with!

Congratulations all on your weight losses.

Apologies for not checking in last week. My lovely WW scales stopped working and I had to buy a new set yesterday. The past two weeks have been an absolute washout in terms of healthy eating/drinking. I'm afraid the stress of waiting for school allocation has really affected me. i.e. One glass of wine to relax...followed by 3 bags of crisp . Any amounts of alcohol have led to overeating. In the past few days I've decided not to have any, and my food consumption has plummetted.

I am paying an absolute fortune for a gym membership and until today have not been using it. Like anyone, excuses are easy to make but today I've drawn a line in the sand and decided I do actually want to be slim again. I fully expect to loose at least 2lb this week come hell or highwater.

Good luck everyone.

mamadiva · 01/05/2009 10:48

I am the same with regards to drinking and eating, glad it's not just me. ;)

I am going to book my gym induction next Friday and get it sorted, it's just at the local liesure centre so just pay as you use which is better for me!

I am dying to get back to swimming too but don't want to go by myself as feel a bit daft when I do.

Onlyaphase · 01/05/2009 11:30

Welcome Mamadiva, and hi to everyone else

Had one of those weekends where I ate fine all day and then picked all evening, so haven't lost anything this week - still 13 10.

And now I have a really irritating headache/fever/sore throat thing that means I need to sit down all day and feel sorry for myself. And eat toast.

I need to do one more run this week - most likely will be Sat or Sun now - to complete week 5 of the couch to 5K program.

Have a good weekend everyone

thesockmonsterofdoom · 01/05/2009 18:53

Welcome Mamadiva, hi all, I am getting back on track from tommorow (i know) we have a pizza and wine for tonight and then i am bcak on track, dh going to take dd's to ballet so i can do my wii.
I will weigh in next week, I didnt want to weigh myself when I was on a comfort binge.
All is looking good here, dh has applied for loads of jobs already and we are enjoying having him around, also he is so much happier.
I have been a bit naughty with food this week, but I have been on my feet all week and someone at playgroup said I looked like I had lost some weight so fingers crossed.
I have decided that mopre realistic targets may be the answer, I currently hve a target on the wii of 1 stione 2lbs to lose, I think I will actually reduce it to 5 lbs in a month, then i may have a hope of actually hitting it and the boost that lqways gives.

have a good weekend.

caramelwaffle · 02/05/2009 09:44

You are absolutley right sockmonster - I have been "expecting" to lose 1/2 - 1 stone per week I know. I know.
One to two pounds a week (permenantly)is MUCH more realistic.

savageisfat · 02/05/2009 16:16

Thanks mamadiva, other people have said I am looking slimmer but never know if they just know I'm on a giet and don't want to leave it unsaid! lol. 5 lbs a month seems very realistic. I gt very excited when I was losing 4 lbs a week but I knew it wouldn't last, which it didn't!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

OP posts:
mamadiva · 02/05/2009 16:21

LOL ay caramel with your 1 stone p/week. I wish

I am setting myself targets of 7lbs at a time so everytime I lose that I can have a wee celebration meal or something to motivate myself

thesockmonsterofdoom · 03/05/2009 18:56

Ok I definatley need more focus, I went on food focus today to put my food in as I decided to restart my food diary, i thought I had a really good day and I have eaten nearly 2000cals
did an hour in the wii fit though, going to start running again tomnmorow, race for life in a month and I am going to enter and try to beat last years time.

savageisfat · 03/05/2009 19:16

Bloody hell, I've eaten like a horse this weekend. I really need to refocus myself! Arrrgh! Back on track tomorrow, I wonder how many times I've written that so far on this thread??! lol

alicecrail · 03/05/2009 19:23

Last night we had shepherds pie for dinner at about 6ish. At 8.45 my Dh is reading the local paper when the Domino's flyer falls out and we spend 10mins drooling over that before deciding that DH should pop to the chip shop for a large portion of chips to share I am so ashamed. And today i have eaten 2 (yes 2!!) custard yum yums As you can see i am doing very well

thesockmonsterofdoom · 04/05/2009 08:22

whats a custard yum yum, sounds nice, I havent eaten anything yet as I cant decide whether to go for eggs or cereal.

alicecrail · 04/05/2009 09:04

Custard yum yums are basically layers of a kind of pastry (like a danish) but feel more fatty and they are covered in icing sugar and in this case filled with custard. Very yum yum!!

mamadiva · 05/05/2009 08:21

Hi ladies am defo back on track today!

Had a bad weekend, so bad infact I am not even going to admit what I ate

Want to weigh myself just out of curiosity but know I should'nt because I will have put on and I will just go in a downer.

We should do a food diary on here at the end of the day so as to keep us motivated or shame us

How is everyone?

savageisfat · 05/05/2009 08:50

Hiya everyone!

I think a food diary would help mamadiva. I like you have eaten way too much and I know I will have put weight on this weekend. Really really really need to get back in the right frame of mind. Does any one else find that once they've had one day of healthy eating, the next days feel so much easier and I actually find it very satisfying. The hardest thing I've found is after a bad weekend or a bit of a binge, trying to get refocused again. I keep thinking '....oh well I'll start again tomorrow and just have one more day of eating cheesecake and junk!' Arrrgh!!!! Today is the day, no more messing around, back on the straight and narrow! I am already dreading weigh day though especially cos I didn't lose anything last week I feel like I'm struggling for a bit of motivation atthe mo. I need a kick up the bum ladies!

OP posts:
mamadiva · 05/05/2009 08:51

savage just think summer is round the corner and it'll be time for swimming with the kids!

I need no more motivation

savageisfat · 05/05/2009 19:57

lol mamadiva, you have a good point. I really don't want to be wobbling around after ds on the beach or at the pool! You have single handedly remotivated me and put my fat ass into gear, thank you!
