I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

hello - busy busy day, have been good! (damn predictable I know!) still managed to stay clear of vino

And i've signed up to do Race for Life ... anyone else tempted?

wabbit · 09/03/2009 00:32

oooh Canada - I've heard it's lovely, my brother rather fell in love with it when he holiday'd there

night night

lilolilmanchester · 09/03/2009 09:15

oh dear, I'm really not doing very well. Have put on 1lb over the last couple of weeks. I know why, so really need to get focused again to stand any chance of hitting my target this year, let alone by Easter...

madwoman my best friend is emmigrating to Canada this year It's a great opportunity for her, her dh and dc's but gaaawd i'm gonna miss her so much. . But on the upside... more holidays for us. Hooray!!!!

wabbit Race for life? Er......no Too much dedication and hard work for me just now, but i would maybe try next year...if i can become more organised and fitter!

madwomanintheattic · 09/03/2009 09:56

upagumtree - expensive holidays lol... start saving now! we always liked people to come over at christmas (white and snowy lol) and then it would be unfair to come all that way and not go to the mountains and ski... where are they headed?

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 10:03

Vancuver Island. I've never been but hear it's beautiful.

madwomanintheattic · 09/03/2009 10:06

oh, it is - although some places eerily like english countryside (little lanes and hedgerows lol, with reversing back so you can pass) - easy to forget that in a mile or two it all looks completely different.

but yea... def expensive holidays - whale watching obligatory lol. and you'd have to go to whistler to ski couldn't not, really...

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 10:12

lol think i'll have to start saving then. It sounds lovely especially the whale watching!

madwomanintheattic · 09/03/2009 13:27

don't do it if you're pg lol. i spent 3 hours in a tin can boat crashing up and down on the waves, fearing miscarriage at any moment... and that was allegedly the 'comfortable' way to do it. once you've found the pod it's fine, but the charging up and down the coast trying to find them was a bit wilder than i was anticipating. dd1 was 20 months and we had to stay in the cabin thingy as it was so rough. i had visions of her disappearing over the side... i think i had somewhat idealised expectations of what 'whale watching' actually involved lol.

madwomanintheattic · 09/03/2009 13:28

and actually, every time we said 'look dd1! a whale!' she waved. no darling, whale, not wave.... she was singularly unimpressed and preferred the zoo in stanley park...

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 14:02

Lol. Definately not (nor ever planning to be again) pg. No no no no no no no..... no!! Ds3 was an enormous so no plans to go down that route again. Dont think dh would cope very well on the whaleboat though. He gets sea-sick in a dingy

wabbit · 09/03/2009 15:25

I wouldn't be able to do the whale watching trip either... though i would dearly love to, I get sea sick on a swing!

The diet is really feeling like a diet this week, I'm feeling hungry quicker and can feel a little giddy or queasy (oh, i forgot all about that word!) if I'm empty.

DP was very tolerent of my No Drinking lent and Dieting... he steamed all the veg he cooked and used as little olive oil as possible

today
28g shreddies
1/2pt milk (over the day)

Ham salad sandwich.
1/2 banana

dinner will be roast chicken and steamed vegetables and (nearly dry roast) new potatoes with skins left on.

I have discovered that slimline tonic is my surrogate alcohol in an evening with ice and lime/lemon - tastes 'adult' but no points.

lilolil - keep posting, and telling us how difficult it is we're here to egg eachother on for our easter goals!!

going to lace up my trainers and hunt out my trakky bottoms... will be power walking this pm to start my Race For Life training - anyone fancy joining in the challenge?

allovertheplace · 09/03/2009 17:44

Hi All

Sorry haven't been on for a couple of days. Had a busy Sunday as DH was working and for some reason I can't seem to access the thread from work anymore, (they're on to me!).

My adoption get together on Saturday wasn't too bad. Only one glass of champagne and one mini toad in the hole, oh and a handful of peanuts. Didn't do so well in the evening. I succumbed to a frangipan that I suddenly remembered was there. Hey Ho.

Anyhoo my big news is that I weighed myself today and I've lost.... ta daah..... 6 pounds! I'm soooo chuffed! I think it's partly because I was in the middle of "that time of the month" when I weighed myself initially but hey, I've lost something. I fully expect any weight loss in the coming weeks to be far less but it's really spurred me on. I'm saving up any leftover points this week so that I can have an Indian takeaway on Saturday night, (the healthiest of the options I can find).

Wow all over - 6lb - that's great.

DH in Eygpt all week so can't go to the cattle market weigh in, just did it home and appear to have stayed the same. Am pretty pleased about that as Saturday I went to the pub with my sister, am very easily lead and drank far too much. Sunday had very bad hangover and then we went for a chinese buffet (bad idea with a need for grease!). A great weekend but not good for the points.

However as dh is away I can have very low point teas to try and make up for the weekend.

All the talk of whale watching brought back memories - we went off the coast of maine/boston. Was really flat calm and hot and sunny. DD was born 9 months later - must have felt the need to look like a beached whale. Hoping to lose that look for my next holiday! Would love to go to Canada - dh BF is moving out in June to Calgory, his wife is really not into DC so don't think a visit with our tribe would go down well - maybe in 20 years!

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 23:02

lol loler@"born 9 months later". I had one of those "born 9 months later" following a holiday in centreparks

wabbit · 09/03/2009 23:13

Did my first 'training' session tonight - took about 35mins to run/walk 2miles so I'll not be breaking any records anytime soon but I was pleased that I didn't exhaust myself and felt I could have done more when I got back.

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 23:32

I really need to get back on the wagon...there is no excuse.I have been drinking far too much vino and have ate too many crisps this past week. It's just not good enough. Even my dinners have been quite trashy. Take dinner tonight. I had a baked potato with salad... covered with butter, cheese, fried onions and mushrooms with a large dollop of full fat mayo and

wabbit · 10/03/2009 00:11

pmsl!!! yeah! that's not good! very funny though and Sooooooooooooooo honest!

you're not needing to lose loads though are you?

allovertheplace · 10/03/2009 09:47

Thanks everyone. I'm still basking in the glory......

Gumtree - it all started so well, with the potato and the salad..... then it really got much better and yummy sounding! LOL - what a combo!

Well done Wabbit - that sounds like a great start. I'm really, really going to do some exercise, really, really soon. Yes, I will.........

Lilolil - where are you?! Hope you're not giving up already! You're the OP - we need you! Hope you've not been on here much over past few days because you're busy and not because you've lost motivation. Get back in the saddle soon!!

upagumtree · 10/03/2009 12:17

It was very tasty thugh . However today is a new day and ladies...I am back on the wagon! Have 1 1/2stones to lose in total, but if I manage to lose a full stone i'll be thrilled.

Breakfast: special k & semi skimmed milk

Lunch: Ham salad sandwhich on 50/50 bread

Making mince and potatoes for dinner tonight with veg.

wabbit · 10/03/2009 14:28

Hello all

upagumtree - don't be so strict on yourself today that you go hungry... fill up on a piece of fruit or carrot sticks between lunch and supper.
I so hate being hungry, but I seem to have taken to ww online like the proverbial duck to water Now, here's a thought - I'm spending far less on weight watchers a week than I would normally on wine and beer

I sound like some temperance loony!!

Breakfast
2 oatcakes
friuit salad (lots of!)
4pts

Lunch potato and tuna salad
4pts

MABS · 10/03/2009 18:05
