I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

Hope you are having a nice time lilo. Dont be lonely, you are among friends here

Wow you girls are all doing great! Very shiney halos all round methinks. Wabbit goes to top of the class for eating very healthy food and running around a park for an hour.

Loler My curry was indeed very tasty. No cream, but must admit I had too much rice. Think i must have burned it off now though. We were skating for 1 1/2hrs. . hope you had fun on the wii.

Mabs How did you get on today?

Coldtits · 06/03/2009 08:55

I lost 4lb this week. Hurrah!

upagumtree · 06/03/2009 09:47

coldtits That's brilliant!!! I havent lost anything, but everyone i know on WW is losing loads. Wondering whether i should take the plunge and join too. Have you found it easy on ww?

allovertheplace · 06/03/2009 11:40

Well Done Coldtits!

Upagumtree - Weight Watchers is the only one I can really stick to as it allows anything at all within the points and it therefore feels like you're more in charge of what you eat. It is still slightly faffy with all the weighing etc., but they do also have good guides on how to visually judge portions for some things. I've been trying out the online version this week for free but don't think I can afford paying for three months in advance at the end of the trial in one lump. I think I'd be more inclined to keep it on if I could pay for single months initially, like you can do with the monthly pass. I may just buy their latest version of the calculator, (I've been using an ipod application which I suspect isn't entirely accurate)and take it from there. Or, I may sign up for monthly pass instead, (although I probably wouldn't use the meetings element of it and would only use the online resource element).

Wabbit - you're an inspiration! Keep it up!

I've been doing ok. Had DD off school following a bizarre one-off vomiting incident in the night yesterday (on my "day off" - typical) and thought that would be excuse enough to come rattling off the rails but I actually did ok and ended up with 1.5 points up my sleeve for the weekend at the end of the day! I didn't have wine, as I tend to only have that if I'm watching something I particularly like on telly and last night there was nothing on I fancied. I did still manage to get out with her to do some shopping, since she was feeling better, and as a result had to spend a fair bit of time re-organising my kitchen cupboards to find room for all the tins and packets I brought home, so hopefully that burned up one or two cals. Yesterday's high spot was discovering Jaffa Cakes are only 1 point each. Low point was finally sitting on my bum at 9.00 p.m. and thinking about having an early night, and then realising I had today's lunches for DD and me to sort.

upagumtree · 06/03/2009 11:53

Hi Allovertheplace. Had a look at the WW site. Couldn't believe how expensive it is So think i'll have to just continue on my urren regime for now. Thanks for the advice though...much appreciated. I hope your dd is feeling better now. There's very little else worse than cleaning vomit. I can empathise here as Ds3 has severe reflux and has very large frequent puking episodes. Sometimes feel my life consists of constant cleaning up vomit/ changing and washing vomit ridden bed sheets/ clothes/ carpets etc.

wabbit · 06/03/2009 14:46

Helloooo and to lilolil! I know i will be of your rose drinking tonight as dp is home (not seen him for 2 weeks)

very chuffed to be put at top of class!

Well done Coldtits!! fantastic that efforts are being rewarded with shrinkage!

allovertheplace sympathy here from me too, clearing up after someone's been sick really is at the bottom of anyone's list of chores! Hope she's feeling much better and you don't succumb to the bug - well done for not going overboard and staying on track.

Been out in the garden this morning clearing flower beds and unearthing all the little shoots popping up - it's very sunny here

It's my weigh-in today... I'm dreading it a bit as I don't feel like I've lost any weight despite being really good - having to brace myself!

so far today:
Egg and bacon 'poppet' 3pts
pear 1pt

Quite glum today following Ds3 paediatric appt. So i'm having a cup of tea with a twix.
Had been good this morning though with my toast for breakfast and a small bowl of chicken noodle soup for lunch.
Odd question alert Is it possible to change shape but not lose weight? Some of the slimmer clothes I have are getting a wee bit easir to do up...if you know what I mean. I'm not able to wear them comfortably but i'm squeezing into them better than before. So does that mean i'm doing something right? I dunno...maybe just wishful thinking

loler · 06/03/2009 17:12

I hate children!

Feeling very much in need of a 9 point bottle of wine! DS1 being a complete ratbag, ds2 not taking antibiotics and only eating chocolate biscuits -his throat can't be that bad! 2 hours until bed time.

I looking at a very boozy weekend as my sister is coming to stay and bringing cider.

Need to save every point possible but chocolate cake is calling!

Gum - if you want to do ww go to one meeting (free registration at the moment) Pay £5ish to get the book etc and then don't go again. Although have to say that this time it's going to the weigh in for potentional showing up is the reason that i'm sticking to it.

Well done on the 4lbs off - that's great in a week.

wabbit · 06/03/2009 17:21

upagumtree It's absolutely possible to not lose weight yet change shape through muscle density, bulk, and tone. You may well have lost fat, but replaced the fat with muscle... muscle weighs heavier than fat so the proportion of muscle gained will be smaller, and will help influence the shape of your body. Tis all your skating

So... after the weigh-in... i can announce... I've lost 5lb!!! I'm now 11st - still too big but it's so rewarding to have an official little slip confirming the results of my efforts.

Been a brisk 30min walk today

Wow, i'm so jealous of all you girls' weight loss. You have all done sooooo well. Wabbit 5lbs is a great achievement and nice to see you mentioned on the weekly round up too .

Thats a good idea loler re WW...i might just do that thanks.

MABS · 06/03/2009 17:49

Well done Wabbit - brill. Upagumtree - yes, you can often change shape withoyt losing, always happens to me.

Ystdy ate well and did 30 mins on treadmill, no wine. Today - did hour Spin class, but ate a cake and am just pouring a large glass of vino...

wabbit · 06/03/2009 21:32

loler ah hope you have a better day tomorrow with your sis around to dilute the worst bits of (what I'm sure are your absolutely lovely)dc's actually have just had a nose at your profile - they are lovely!

I know it's easy enough for me to say as i've had a really good week (and found it surprisingly easy) but if you're batteries are low and you need to unwind this weekend, I'm sure you'll be back on the wagon by monday.

Supper - jacket potato, green salad and smoked samlon - much to our amazement my dismay (they're my lovely points!!) we had to keep divvying bits out to ds (3yo's are not supposed to like smoked salmon in my book!)

Dp gone out for the evening to meet up with mates he used to work with at Jaguar - I'm supposed to be writing an essay on child development.
wabbit hopes lilolil's not taking solace in another vino lapse whilst in her lonely room

lilolilmanchester · 07/03/2009 00:32

(am not in lonely room tonight, am back home but shattered. Will post over the weekend)

Thanks Upagumtree and Wabbit - DD is fine now. In fact she was absolutely fine the day after but felt I should keep her off school just in case. Gum - sorry to hear about DSs reflux. Chronic conditions like that are no joke, aside from the laundry issues. Big sympathy hugs.

Wabbit - Well done!! What an achievement! I'm actually looking forward to weighing myself on Monday - surely I've lost something after being so good all week!? Mind you it is the weekend and I am going to a little get together this afternoon to celebrate a friend adopting a DC so will try to fill up on a healthy lunch before I go.

Welcome back Lilolil - we missed you!

madwomanintheattic · 07/03/2009 13:32

not had a bad week - mostly sensible food/ drink wise but i'll 'fess up to a curry and a glass of vino last night been a bit mad, loads of college work (really behind) and school head resigned, leaving us having to find a new one (governing body...) oh, and our emigration paperwork got to the top of the pile, so we're madly scrabbling around for police checks and updating our applications etc... eeek! but it does mean -

I'VE ONLY GOT FOUR MONTHS TO LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE MEDICAL! AAARGH!

increased dog-walking exercise a little, but have yet to give Davina a spin - meant to earlier this week but got sidetracked at the last minute. aim this week is to fit her in at least three times... dh is going away on tues, so plenty of time to bounce around the living room with no-one wobble-spotting

will weigh tomorrow or monday if i can coax the scales into life...

wabbit · 07/03/2009 15:46

hello all, still on track here - though dp's cooking steak tonight but will steam all veg and potatoes so hoping to stay within limits.

Had a lovely long lie in this morning dp came in late after failing to hail a cab and walking home. So lovely having him home, but find it hard to get uni work done.

Madwomanintheattic - What course are you doing at Uni? is it Teaching related?
Sounds like you have had a mad week - where are you emigrating to? from? Sounds exciting - at least it is four months go on!! you can do it

MABS · 08/03/2009 12:06

you are all doinjg very well, just swam 20 lengths and did BodyPump ystdy, BUT i ate risotto and drank waaay too much wine

CrackerNut · 08/03/2009 14:21

I am swaying between doing really well and doing really crap lol.

Yesterday was a disaster really as I ate far too much for dinner and drunk lots.

Today I have had 1 egg and bacon bap, 1 bowl of chicken soup, 1 breakaway bar and 2 cuppas.

Roast chicken, veg and mash for dinner and it will take all of the willpower I have to not eat the lovely crispy skin on the chicken.

MABS · 08/03/2009 14:34

am the same Cracker, v good or v bad !

upagumtree · 08/03/2009 14:36

Ever so slightly hungover today. We had friends over last night. A great time was had by all and way too much wine consumed...hence very lethargic and headachey today. Didn't go swimming today due to my burnt and blistered ankles, so there will be no weigh in for me this week. However today I am comfortably wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in the past 6 months . So I must be doing something right inspite of all my reports of way too much vino.

So far i've had a bacon and egg sandwich for brunch followed by 2 cookies with a cuppa. Not sure what to cook for dinner, but Cracker your roast chicken sounds lovely...yummm.

Mabs, i'm very impressed with your exercise regime yesterday. 20 lengths and body pump? Well done!

MABS · 08/03/2009 14:59

one was sat, one was today Upagum, not together! i do enjoy the classes tho, that make me really sad?!

upagumtree · 08/03/2009 15:31

No definately not sad but OMG @enjoying body pump...mad maybe lol

MABS · 08/03/2009 15:49

mad indeed, can't disagree like bodypump coz you don't need co ordination so i don't go wrong way and crash into people...

madwomanintheattic · 08/03/2009 18:58

wabbit - Canada... if it all works out

not teaching lol - tried it once and didn't like it (actually, the first teaching practice was fine, the second one sccared the pants off me - only about three of the kids in the class spoke english...) i'm doing an ology lol. social research anyway it's ok except for the stats...

but two glasses of fizz today (parent's ruby wedding) and a roast dinner...
