I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

I did ok yesterday, had a bit of a lapse last night and had some crackerbread but it could have been worse I suppose.

So far today I've had cereal and a bowl of grapes. Can't decide wether to have soup, salad or a jacket spud for lunch.
Having salmon stir fry for dinner later.

wabbit · 04/03/2009 13:43

Ooh salmon stir fry sounds nice

upagumtree - ach! stop with your highland taunting... no sign of any snow here - but it is a chill but gloriously sunny day here

hmmm hunger pangs - they're not good are they?

Breakfast: skinny capuccino, skinny lemon muffin (starbucks)

Lunch: beans on 1 slice of wholemeal toast.

Dinner: salmon steak with salad leaves and jacket potato.

Quite horrified that the muffin cost me 6 points

I've not used any of my accumulated points yet - would feel like cheating somehow

allovertheplace - Aha! I totally forgot about crackerjacks Do they still do the salt and vinegar ones?

Good luck for today all

CrackerNut · 04/03/2009 17:03

Just had my stir fry and it was disgusting. I used Asda's own frozen stir fry veg and it was just awful, won't be buying that again.

Ended up just eating the salmon and a few of the nicer bits of veg, so i'm still hungry which is bad becausxe it means I will snack when Waterloo Road is on later.

MABS · 04/03/2009 17:26

still no wine since sat which is a bloody miracle! eatin v well but then ate 2 slices of cake at netball match tea with dd dammit

loler · 04/03/2009 17:37

do you have your tea before 5?
I would be eating all night if I ate then. We normally have ours about 8.30ish which doesn't leave time to snack much

MABS · 04/03/2009 17:51

we eat 8.30 ish too Loler, but its a bit late for me really.

allovertheplace · 04/03/2009 18:29

Thanks for the tip Upagumtree. I'm nipping to Tescos tomorrow after I drop DD at school and will get some F & F to see if that makes a difference. They do still do the salt and vineger snack a jacks Wabbit and other ones besides. They also do wee bags of popcorn that are only about half a point a bag or something ridiculous like that, (also on my list tomorrow). I'm also going to get more veggies and loads of pulses and various spices to try and get a bit more adventurous in the kitchen. Ready meals are great if you're tearing in from work and starving but I can sicken myself of them quite easily.

Crackernut - the frozen Stir fry veg is a great standby but IMO, as you've spotted, it can be a bit hit or miss as to how nice it is when it's done. I found the Tesco value frozen stir fry was quite good although I did throw some fresh sugar snap peas in with it to beef it up a bit so that probably made a difference.

Did ok today. Had WW curry for tea and don't feel that hungry now. Have saved enough points for a medium glass of vino and some snackajacks for Corrie later! Feeling very upbeat today even though I've been positively slothlike on the exercise front! Will try harder to walk a bit tomorrow.

lilolilmanchester · 04/03/2009 21:45

Hi all, just reading how well you're all doing. MABS - no wine since Saturday - that's very impressive! I had a small glass last night but none today. Had canteen curry for lunch - with myself. Was going to just have a sald for tea but my lovely DH had made cauli cheese & gammon cos I was at work late and I didn't have the heart to tell him how fattening it would be, so had to eat it.
Won't be around much for the next couple of days, unless the hotel I'm in tomorrow has free internet connection. Stay focused folk, I'm unlikely to be good tomorrow and Friday but will try to be better at the weekend. Can see me starting over again this Monday. Keep going everyone, I need to be of you to spur me into action again.

well I thought I'd lapsed today when I tucked into swiped a couple of ds's chips (it's our fish and chip night in the burrow)... it smelt SOOOO good

but not all was lost! Iwas so inspired by Crackernut's stir-fry idea that I decided not to have potato for supper and made up a kind of veg/salmon thing...

no stir fry veg in the house so used chunky frozen mix veg... steamed and then bunged into the pan at the last minute - pan fried the salmon in tsp olive oil with 1/2 a leek and a pinch of cracked pepper - I'm sorry Crackernut - it was fantastic! even dd (a vegephobe) had some!

Only 4pts but very satisfying

We eat at about 7pm

lilolil - Awww your lovely DH, such a kind thought, we'll be here when you get back if you don't have T'internet...

lilolilmanchester · 04/03/2009 22:22

sounds lovely! Am supposed to be packing but can't tear myself away from MN and Facebook whilst half watching Desperate Housewives! (but not snacking or drinking alcohol so that's something!)

upagumtree · 04/03/2009 22:51

Ladies...I have lapsed . on my 3rd glass of wine

lilolilmanchester · 04/03/2009 23:00

don't be upagumtree, if you are going to be naughty, at least enjoy it and DON'T feel guilty, otherwise it really is a waste of calories.

OP posts:
upagumtree · 04/03/2009 23:03

In which case...Ladies...I have lapsed ...

lilolilmanchester · 04/03/2009 23:04

MABS · 05/03/2009 15:35

Well done for the wine, hope they were big glasses! i am envious as i won't have any til tmoro. did gym tday but no weight loss at all

upagumtree · 05/03/2009 17:11

Wasn't very good again today. The dcs crisps were calling me from the kitchen cupboard and i couldn't resist. So had 2 packets and we're having chicken curry tonight too. But hopefully will burn it all off tonight at the ice rink where i'll christen my new boots . Mmmm curry cooking at the moment and smells lovely. Thinking about it though I suppose it is quite healthy. I only used used a couple of sprays of olive oil to fry my onions and the rest is chicken, veg, spices tomatos and rice. So all is not lost .

Hope you guys are all doing well cos i need your motivation to keep me on the right track!

Speak to you all soon xxxxxxx

MABS · 05/03/2009 18:03

you are making me hungry upagumtree!

loler · 05/03/2009 18:06

Curry isn't too bad as long as you don't use cream and you don't have too much rice.

I had a treat of a packet of crisps too - had to buy some as dc only have quavers (which I don't like so won't eat them). 3 points for a pack of walkers but worth it.

have been picking all day as stuck at home with ill and manky ds2. Have been making him nice things to eat and he's left them so I have to eat them.

Dh just rung to say he's not home tonight so will have a go on the Wii fit and a very little tea!

wabbit · 05/03/2009 18:24

oh upagumtree I'm doing well today if you want someone to blow their own trumpet in your direction !!

Obviously NO WINE for me today as I've given it up for lent (halo out of box)

had fresh fruit salad for brekky 4pts
2 oatcakes for snack 2pts
Soup and 1 slice of wholemeal for lunch 3pts

Went long walk with 3 small children and ran about in the park trying to keep up with them for an hour!

(halo polished and hovering nicely about 3" above my head!)

So planned supper is March Recipe 9 pts and dp comes home... now this will be the test! he will be partaking of everything I'm currently absaining from!

loving the crisp lapse! one packet just wouldn't be enough!! I totally agree
