Half-term over, restarting diet, anyone else interested??

I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

Upagumtree - you just described my premenstrual behaviour perfectly, (DH, DD and cat all subjected to it) and usually topped off with uncontrollable weeping over a tiny issue around a hour before the blasted thing finally arrives.

I used to use the herbal water tablets but since I had DD (and pretty much said a sad farewell to my pelvic floor), I can only take them if I'm having a day in the house, otherwise I'd be trekking around looking for WCs every 20 mins! But yeah, they do work fairly well. They don't shift all of it but do give some relief.

Good to hear from you Lovemygirls and good on you for doing the Gym - you too Mabs! Good effort!

Not having too bad a day on the eating front. I've still got quite a few points left as have been in back to back meetings today so no snacking opportunities. Might have a cheeky wee glass of red (2 points worth) and a Philladelphia light dippy thingy (2.5 points) to finish them off in front of Corrie later. Seriously thinking about stepping up my points for Breakfast and reducing at night though. I can always have a 1 point snack in front of the telly. Will try that tomorrow.

Gorgeous day today here too. Thoroughly enjoyed my walk to school today in glorious sunshine . Still continue to walk everyday instead of taking the car and only drive when it's raining heavily or snowing!

Food wise I have been good today and I haven't had vino for 2 nights. Might have a glass tonight though. However dinner is really trashy tonight only because I'm not in the mood for cooking. Its a crappy pizza and chips bunged in the oven effort tonight. The kids won't complain though.

Wabbit, sadly yes that is still my job, although I work in special care/intensive care for neonates now. Happily I have left my labour suite and ward days behind me. But on the whole I wish I had chosen a different career path. To think I left a Social science degree to study midwifery !?! What was I thinking? I hope you had a nice walk with the kids

I was did social policy at warwick uni - had ds and went into kindergarten teaching... we get led in so many strange ways. I'm sure your 'patients' feel you've made the right career choice, which must count for something

mabs - great that you got to the gym yesterday - tomorrow's another day

I've just swaffed off with what was left of ds's chip mountain... perhaps a few more than the 'small portion' that i've allowed in my points I'm generally very honest though and find the fish and chip night

I've weighed myself today and I'm 9.9 so if I carry on I've only got 9lb to go!

Feel so disappointed in myself. I've eaten nothing but rubbish today and have just had a large piece of leftover chocolate birthday cake. Again it's maybe a PMS thing that I feel so compeled to stff my face with shite. But I also feel as though I'm constantly making excuses for my poor eating patterns. I start off with really good intentions and then it all falls apart.

Just now i've had a biscuit and birthday cake with a cup of tea. Don't mean to sound so down, just a bit fed up with constantly watching what I'm eating, feeling constantly miffed at myself for the intermittent lapses and not losing any weight despite the fact I don't eat anywhere near as much as I used to.

Any motivation from you lovely ladies will be warmly recieved...pleeeeaaaaasssse

upagumtree, i could have written that post! no suggestions but just wanted to say you are not alone. Im having probs wth my disabled ds again, can't get to gym regularly and am v fed up. take care x

Mabs, what a shame you are having problems. Why can't life just be easy?? Is that too much to ask?? Life is hard enough without having to cope with the added pressure of children and especially when they require more of our attention.

Two of my children have extra needs and it's just so continuously draining that sometimes I really don't know where I get the energy to cope.

I really hope thinks look up for you soon and hope that your Ds is ok. It's so important to try and take time out for yourself once in a while but how do you do that when there are so many other things to do?

Well we can be fed up together...because that is exactly how i'm feelng at the moment too. Wish there was something I could do to help you feel better

Have been very good today, and tasty healthy supper has persuaded dp to join me on the healthy eating drive bless him, said it looks like i've lost weight

Wabbit - your post is not inappropriate. In fact I love catching up with this thread because you all seem to have a knack of cheering me up...especially on days when i'm at a low ebb. So enough already!!

But seriously Allovertheplace and Wabbit, thankyou for all your lovely words of support and for our much needed hugs.

Mabs, I have only recently returned back to work after a lengthy sick leave. So for the next few weeks only doing one nightshift per week and then building up to my normal 4 shifts per week. It's going to be difficult but i'll just need to grin and bare it .

OK ice skating tonight was fun and I only fell over once. (That's my therapy )
But then by the time we got back home I was very hungry so made some toast and tea. Avoiding eye contact with the choc cake so i wouldn't be tempted...again!

Wabbit. Does your Dp work away most of the time? You always sound so delighted when he comes home...so romantic. And good on him for noticing your weightloss.

Allovertheplace - my reasons for losing weight are the same as yours. I wanna lookgood in jeans too!!!! Not superficial in the slightest But really..Just so fed up of feeling frumpy the whole time and want to feel like a sexy mamma and not look like a frigid old bag with wobbly bits an dull skin dragging a bunch of kids around with her.You are definately right though Allover. Small changes can = a big difference. And i'm trying...honest I am

Morining all woke up very early this morning to take one of our cats to the vet.. Washington's been nurturing an unsightly growth on his HUUUUUGE belly for the last few months and he's gone to have it removed - he's a massive bruiser weighing over 6kg! it's not fat, he's just a massive build (and i remember when he was a wee kitty looking for a home )

Talking of weight... I've lost 3lb this week so now i'm 10st 7lb the WW site reminded me not to lose more than 2lb per week from now on - so I'll be using up more of my earned points and experiment at getting the balance right

Gumtree - Dp's gone back to uni - he spent 10 years working for Jaguar Land Rover in Brakes Development... and had almost lost the will to live - he's loving doing a Design course at University of the Arts London.
He'll be continuing close to home next year as long as he gets in - he's doing very well though so fingers crossed... and yes, we're sickeningly in love! DD frequently requests a bucket! (we've only been together for 16 months)

My motivation for losing weight is exactly the same... that and one day I looked in the mirror and saw the possibility that I was turning into my mother

Have had bread overload today and too embarrassed to tell you all what i've eaten. So i'm not gonna . I'm nightshift tonight too which means that i'll be eating much more than normal. And I have a headache...bummer.

I have been to a friends house for lunch had lovely roast tomato and goats cheese tart and lots of cake so have 4 points left for tea. hmmm - looks like cow cheese sandwich or very small pot and beans?

Hope your night shift went ok Gumtree and that you enjoyed your treat Mabs! God knows we all deserve one of them from time to time, (as we're so often saying on here).

I didn't make it on here yesterday. Had my premenstrual meltdown. A particularly massive one and what was it about you may ask? Only that DH had eaten a bread roll I had specifically taken out of the freezer for my own consumption later that day. I'd put it in a poly bag in the bread bin intending to have it with a handful of chips for tea, (since it was chippy night and this was my attempt at being good - a chip butty). Only the greedy barsteward ate it! This prompted all the pent up frustration for the whole week to explode in a very unladylike manner - tears, snot, threats of violence, the lot. Needless to say my period arrived 2 hours later, the red mist vanished and sanity was restored. By then though I was just exhausted.

Today I have been naughty beyond belief. As there's footy on tomorrow, DH decided it would be a good idea for me to have my mother's day lunch today instead of tomorrow so I've been out and had chicken, chips and peas (with gravy) and a lovely pint of guinness. I'm so off the diet today. Having said that I have resisted eating anything and everything but I will have a couple of bacardi and (diet)cokes tonight in front of the telly.

I'll weigh myself again next Wednesday and will try to be good from tomorrow onwards.

allovertheplace - Oh my heartfelt sympathy for your meltdown, It's like, for those days of pmt only you can see things how they really are!!! it's frightful - and if you're anything like me it makes you feel hideously mean Dudley's a fantastic name for a cat of stature!!!

I was out yesterday evening, though the chef (dp) and host (dp's brother) were very respectful of their other halves being on diets - so everything was point counted - I was going to be naughty and have a GU pudding - but ds swiped it from under my nose - so I had about a spoonful and the booby prize WW chocolate and vanilla mousse!

I'm very envious of those of you who get pampered tomorrow - I'll be doing a 100mile round trip to see MOTHER who's lovely but nuts and chaotic... and dp's mum who's lovely and sane, very sane. i'll be sidestepping food offerings in the politest way I can and hoping my points tally for the day isn't too battered by the end of it all!
