I started [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/673982-so-3-double-G-amp-Ts-and-a-bo x-of this thread]] after Christmas, but like many others I've slipped back into my old ways. Half term was particularly bad and need to kick-start healthy eating/weight loss. Anyone from that thread or any new people care to join me?

well done to you all again, you are all doing so well.

I have a horrible feeling my lack of weight loss is coz it's turning to muscle. all the exercise must be doing something as 2inches of legs and 1 off waist, but i also think my boobs are shrinkin!!

did Pt training sesh ysty and one bodyjam,45 mins aerobics tday so far, but also a muffin

wabbit · 16/03/2009 15:51

Today
strawberrys
banana
fat free yoghurt

jacket potato
cottage cheese
beans
carrot sticks

Lilolil - sounds like you're doing well

lol @ 'nice ham' upagumtree - isn't that a codism? Enjoy that cake for all of us

allovertheplace · 16/03/2009 17:42

Lilolil - fantastic that you've lost 2 lbs - well done!

Mabs - sounds like you're proving the muscle is heavier than fat theory! I wouldn't be disappointed by inch loss at all, so if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't get too hung up on your weight, especially if your clothes are fitting you better.

Happy birthday son of gumtree! My DD is only 4 and a half, bless her .... although sometimes she acts like a teenager.

Well ladies I haven't lost a sodding thing this week. I am exactly the same as I was this time last week. I know I strayed a bit this week but would still have expected to have lost a pound or two given all the sacrifices I made. I'm not convinced with the WW thing whereby you can save up points and blow them on a bigger treat. That's what I did this week. I wonder if I need to move my weigh in to a Wednesday to give me a chance to work off my saved points indulgences at the weekends..... or I'm retaining fluid as I'm premenstrual ..... or I haven't managed to work my points out correctly when cooking i.e., curry and larger portions than I probably should have had.

I will weigh myself again on Wednesday to test out theory number 1 .......

Soooooo disappointed. I'm not saving any points today. Gonna blow the 3 points I have left tonight on bloody gin........

MABS · 16/03/2009 17:47

you do that allovertheplce - you defo deserve a gin or three

wabbit · 16/03/2009 17:58

Wow MABS that's brilliant inch loss

allovertheplace - maybe your theory will prove right, have to say, I get water retention when I'm premenstrual too and it's utterly crap isn't it? premenstrual seems to be lasting longer than ever as I get older too.

Enjoy your gin

allovertheplace · 16/03/2009 18:33

Thanks Mabs and Wabbit!

I really do hope it's the PMS thing. My cycle is a bit short so it seems that I'm almost perpetually suffering one symptom or another.

I will keep going though!

upagumtree · 16/03/2009 23:17

lol@shrinking boobs Mabs. Honestly I think that's why i'm so overweight. Boobs must weigh about 3 stones alone...each! Also your inch loss is brilliant and therefore I concude that you totally deserved that muffin!

Lilo, i'm in Scotland, hence constant miserable weather . The exam system is different up here too. But even though they will be sitting different exams, i'm thrilled that I now have an exam angst allie.

Allovertheplace, keep going. You are doing so well and it will be interesting to see which of your theories proves correct. I'm also with you and Wabbit on the premenstrual bloating issue. Total PITA. I'm sure when the PMS is over with for this month you'll see another difference. The girls who are dieting with WW seem to be losing the most weight...so stick with it!

Thankyou all for your lovely Happy birthday messages for DS. He had a great day and was thrilled with his new Ice Hockey boots.

madwomanintheattic · 17/03/2009 10:12

i think i'm wobblier - no sign of any tightening round here!... still not managed to get scales working lol. new batteries didn't work and dh has confessed he tried to weigh a pushchair on them (?) so that might explain it...

have been reading the thread but not posting, and i'm very impressed by all! even if you haven't lost, you sound committed to keeping going! i've been a rubbish about food over the last few days and just leaving it until really late and scavenging, so i need to get a bit organised again. (ran out of soup lol - time to make more)

the weather is so lovely though, so the dogs have been luckier than normal!

allovertheplace · 17/03/2009 12:06

So you're in Scotland Upagumtree!

I'm an Ayrshire lassie, born and bred but have lived away from there in North West England for around 11 years. I'd love to move back but DH's job is keeping us here.

I'm 99% convinced I've got premenstrual fluid retention, so much so that I won't even bother weighing myself tomorrow. My jeans are tight in the usual way they are at that time of the month. I suppose I should be glad I lost what I did last week, otherwise I'd would be even bigger right now!

Anyhoo - today is another day. I'm doing ok so far. Have walked 864 steps since I put my step counter on this morning, (most of them around Tesco). I've also got hold of a DVD of Zumba training which looks like it might be fun. It looks like a sort of latino dance exercise routine, with not a great deal of jumping up and down, as opposed to aerobics, with a fair bit of jumping up and down (not recommended for those of us with weak bladders, IYSWIM) . Jumping up and down is also not recommended for those of us who are, shall we say, more ample in the boobular area!

wabbit · 17/03/2009 12:47

madwoman - being good isn't a prerequisite of posting! Lovely you have now

I had a pain au chocolat and strawberries for breakfast... having a lovely brekky was the only way I could persuade dd to get up early and tidy her bedroom^ but to give her her due - she's working hard rummaging through all the debris on the floor! her room is a constant tip!

So, I've counted the 6pts for my lovely breakfast - which is quite a chunk for the beginning of the day...

upagumtree · 17/03/2009 12:48

I'm not too far from ayrshire. Just the other side of East Kilbride really in a wee villiage, Blackwood. And ...am only 70 miles from carlisle. So where abouts in the north west are you...and do you still have your scottish accent?

upagumtree · 17/03/2009 13:03

Mmmmmmmm@pain au chocolat and strawberries

loler · 17/03/2009 13:06

Had weigh in last night and only lost 1lb in 2 weeks - I started doing my fitness coach on the Wii last week (hence lack of posts) and found walking difficult the following days so thought I was due much more!

Went for a wine with my friend to drown my sorrows and felt much better!

6 points on breakfast is a lot but sounded worth it.

wabbit · 17/03/2009 13:19

Hi gumtree and loler - well, well done on losing a lb loler, don't belittle the small achievements, we've been saying that exercising doesn't necessarily help you lose weight but more likely to tone so you lose inches

have just had very virtuous lunch of ryvita cottage cheese and carrot sticks - to make up for brekky!!!

a quick hello, am (supposed to be) working... had special k for breakfast and had cottage pie for lunch (full-fat canteen version ) Have never done Weight Watchers or similar, might have to consider it, people seem to do well on their programme. That said, I started at 12-2 after Christmas and whilst losing 4lbs isn't amazing, I haven't starved myself or missed out on meals out/occasional treats/"more-wine-than-the Government-would-condone" so maybe longer term this suits me better. I know what I need to do, just find it hard to be motivated in amongst the stresses of daily life!

allovertheplace · 17/03/2009 16:52

Well done Loler - a pound lost is good going - any loss is good going!

Gumtree - I haven't been to East Kilbride for ages! My mum and dad like to take a trip over the moors in the bus to do some shopping there every so often, (they're in Kilmarnock). I actually work in Cheshire but live just outside the Cheshire area.

Wabbit - that might be quite a chunk for breakfast but you've got all day to work it off! Sounds gorgeous! I love bready cakey things for breakfast so I've been having 20 gs of Special K, (1 point before milk) which is obviously half a normal portion and is a token nod to healthy eating and getting some grains, and then I have a weight watchers cake of some description, (1.5) with a coffee. It's probably still not enough for brekkie but I tend to want to save my points for telly time at night. I may review it if my weight loss isn't how I'd like it when all this piggin' fluid disappears.

wabbit · 17/03/2009 17:22

i was having a nose round the ww site - they've got a bit on ideal weight loss - which shouldn't be more than 2lb per week after the first three weeks of dieting... anything more and they suggest your body will suffer from the ill effects of a restricted diet (dry skin/scalp, muscle wasteage (sp), loss of regular menstrual cycle etc... and of course slowing down of the metabolism/rapid post-dieting weight gain)

they suggest that if you are consistently losing more - to make sure you use all your points, to use any earned points etc.

and - they've suddenly allocated me one less point a day, so I'm allowed 20pts

lol @ 'piggin' fluid

Hi lilolil... I joined WW because i've never been able to self discipline myself without a firm set of rules - i'm a 'well, it'll not count just this once' kind of person which is crap for dieting!

allovertheplace · 17/03/2009 19:02

I only get 17 points a day Wabbit. The first time I did it, about 10 years ago, the minimum was 18 points for those under 10 stone - they didn't take your age or lifestyle into account. It feels too little this week probably because the PMT is making me crave unhealthy stuff. In the good old days in fact I would have 20 points - a whole 21 points a week more than now.

I am hoping for a steady loss of 2 lbs a week - that would be fine (except of course on the weeks that I turn into a human watermelon)!

wabbit · 17/03/2009 23:24

just 17pts?
So... this is what I have to look forward to! an ever decreasing allowance

I have found today difficult - i made super lean, uber healthy casserole tonight. It was so good I found it really difficult not to go back for seconds! the meat was so tender (more food porn going on here apologies!)

upagumtree · 18/03/2009 09:36

My friend gave me her WW book. I calculated my allowance, which was 18 points. It has put me off tbh.

Funny you should mention 2nd helpings Wabbit. This could be my downfall too. I'll quite often have extra if i've made too much, thinking it'll be ok because it's healthy food. You've got me thinking now

Allover: Am also like a human Watermelon atm. Even Dh commented on it last night because it's so obvious. It's probably about an extra 7lbs worth of fluid! Was also in a Very bad PMT mood yesterday. Children, cat and husband were all diving for cover!

wabbit · 18/03/2009 12:53

I have stocked up on HRI water balance tablets for the dreaded run-up to my period - they're a danelion root based natural remedy and act as a mild diuretic. I will give a full account of their effectivness

upagumtree - i'm a real piggy when it comes to food, I tend to eat too quickly and always want seconds... it comes from being the youngest of five 'Oh.. don't you want that' as you see your sausage swooped away on brother's fork'!!!

brekky
strawberries
danone activia (fat free)1.5pts

snack
2 ryvita
cottage cheese 3pts

upagumtree · 18/03/2009 14:36

My pigginess comes from working years as a labour ward midwife and never knowing when your next break will be or throwing food down your neck because you just knew that you wouldn't get time to eat and enjoy it with being so busy.

You can always spot a midwife by how quickly they at their food. It's true!!!

LoveMyGirls · 18/03/2009 14:46

Just dropping by, havent lost any weight I DON'T THINK (oops caps) I did go to the gym on monday night and I'm going tonight and tomorrow and i'm trying to be good but biscuits seem to be my down fall at the moment!

I'll be back though, I need 2 get rid of this weight, I want to be 9 stone by the time I buy my wedding underwear!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wabbit · 18/03/2009 14:55

I didn't know you were a midwife gumtree... are you still practicing? Not the sort of job where breaks can be scheduled!

Hi lovemygirls - when's your wedding?

another beautiful day here - i'm just going out a walk with the littlies

MABS · 18/03/2009 17:18
