SummerLightning · 27/01/2009 08:30

New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

KinderEggKayzr · 08/04/2009 12:01

Just weighed myself and I have lost 8lbs since last Thursday so really looking forward to weigh in tomorrow!!!

SummerLightning · 08/04/2009 17:37

Kayz that's amazing!!

OP posts:
sugarrations · 10/04/2009 07:40

Will post today, as away tomorrow. I lost 2lb! So slowly but surely I'm getting there.

Kayz, how did you get on at WW. Sounds like you've done fantastically well!!!!

Good luck to everyone else, and not too many eggs

EffiePerine · 10/04/2009 07:47

We have a house full of chocolate: DS1 has four chocolate eggs/cows so far and the grandparents are arriving tomorrow...

KinderEggKayzr · 10/04/2009 08:02

I've lost 6lbs by the WW scales which is still really good. I'm not sure if it is just the first week and then I'll lose about 2lbs a week. But if it continues on losing 6lbs a week I should be at my target weight quicker than I thought.

artichokes · 10/04/2009 08:13

I have not been on this threadcfor a few weeks as I got rathercdepressed about my lack of progress. Anyway I have just scanned and it looks like youbare all doing brilliantly. Can I rejoin? I think I am finally getting to the part of BFing that shifts weight as the baby is big and hungry.

I am now 11stone 15oz which is a real breakthrough for me as I am under 12 stone mark. Only another 11oz and I will be back to by pre-pregnancy weight.

SummerLightning · 11/04/2009 21:28

kayz well done, that is so impressive.
arti I am hoping the same about the BFing shifting weight now! Do you mean lbs not oz?

Re weighing, I am going to keep updating stats for Monday on Sunday night, but if people post whenever during the week?? As people going to WWers etc obviously want to post on different days.

sugar well done, I am very impressed. I hope you enjoy your holiday and although I hope you don't put on much weight I hope you enjoy it food-wise!

OP posts:
feralgirl · 11/04/2009 21:44

Hi,
Can I join please? DH has had enough of the last 4 months of my whinging! And I MUST be able to fit into some of my old clothes before I go back to work in 3 months.

Am 5'3" and 13 stone; according to WW I should be between 8 and 10 stone. Would like to aim for pre-pg weight of 9 1/2 stone.

Have just horrified myself by calculating my BMI (32!!!)

SummerLightning · 11/04/2009 21:57

Ok, I am about to update the spreadsheet, but girls, did you know that between 12 of us who have ever posted an update (ruling out some of the people who signed up but never came back) we have lost OVER 8 STONE!!
That is so impressive. I reckon it is more than our babies weighed at birth put together.

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 14/04/2009 07:31

I think I'm one of those that started to post but didn't come back . Like Arti, I got a bit down about a lack of progress but I've decided to go back to weight watchers like Kay. I did really well with them when losing weight for my wedding so am hoping they'll be able to do the same!

Well done to everyone, you've all done brilliantly!

EffiePerine · 14/04/2009 08:20

I'm going to be bowing out for a few weeks until we get moved and settled - too much to thinkabout at the moment! Hoping to be back at the beginning of May with some new scales and a new plan

Nolda · 14/04/2009 08:25

I'm also taking a short break as I'm much too scared to weigh myself after Easter and birthday celebrations .

pmk1 · 14/04/2009 08:33

Aaaargh, I've gone up again since being sick - 0.7kg!! Why? Must bethe lack of activity - gotta get exercising again....

Arti a few posts back you said "think I am finally getting to the part of BFing that shifts weight as the baby is big and hungry"

Just wondered what you meant I have heard that there is a certain time point during BF when weight can drop dramatically very fast - is that what you meant? I did early on but now i'm thinking it was just the initial fluids etc dropping right after birth, rather than BF ? Bummer, cause now my BF days are numbered as I've already started topping up with formula.
I've also hear that some people drop the last few kg's after stopping BF? Any second timers experienced that?

SummerLightning · 14/04/2009 08:52

Well I am 63.1 so down 0.4 kg. Most annoyed as I have eaten so healthy and vv small portions all week and have been for a run or bike ride every day. So i was hoping to lose more.
pmk I have heard that about stopping BFing too from several people in RL. I am hoping it is true. i am planning on stopping at 60kg which is the upper range of my normal weight and then I will try and lose a bit more when I stop BFing.
Re the BFing I was hoping that seeing as they presumably eat a bit more now they are older you would lose more weight BFing. But I am not sure that is happening for me. I guess now I weigh less maybe losing weight is getting harder, so cancels out. Also they feed a bit more efficiently so you have to spend less time sat on your arse??
tilly welcome back, no I did count you in the people updating but knew you had not been on for a while. Sybil Daisy and kayz are all doing well on WWers so I think it must work well.

artichokes · 14/04/2009 10:12

Summer - silly me. My brain is knackered. I meant lbs not oz. How could I care about 11oz!

PMK - re BF. Last time I struggled to lose weight after the initial post birth loss. Then, when DD1 was around 5 months the weight just fell off. I could eat what I liked and lose a couple of lbs a week. I could only attribute it to exclusively BFing a huge baby. I am hoping to see the same effect this time. Sure enough I have pigged out for five days while lying flat on my back and I haven't gained a thing. Surely that must be the BFing? I have to say I did not lose weight when I stopped but maybe that is because I kept going for 14 months (in fact i had to start watching what i ate for the first time in ages). I reckon lots of people stop BF at 5-6 months and that happens to coincide with a point when many of us drop a few lbs, therefore they attribute a causation when there is none.

tillyfernackerpants · 14/04/2009 20:46

Well, I've been to WW tonight so my new healthy eating plan starts properly tomorrow. I'll be weighing in every Tuesday so fingers crossed for next week!

LadyThompson · 15/04/2009 11:57

Right, I haven't been on here for ages as I got rather out of the routine. Hence I am back up to 84.9 and full of despair! It all went to pot when I had my legs done (the exercise I mean) and I have never sorted myself back out. It's my birthday week so not a good time to start again really but no time like the present. Amazing to see all the weight loss on here. Well done girls. It gives me some hope! Because right now I am feeling like I am destined never to get rid of it

SummerLightning · 15/04/2009 18:49

I just realised that I cross posted a while back with feralgirl, of course you are welcome to join. We are an offshoot of the Dec Postnatal thread though so you may want to join there as well, or just accept that occasionally we might reference stuff off that thread too if you see what i mean??
LadyT that is a bummer but I am sure you will get back into it.

OP posts:
Kayzr · 16/04/2009 11:25

LadyT Stop that at once. Think positive!!!! Start again on Monday and put a line under this week. If you can't pig out on you birthday when can you???

I am dreading WW tonight. I am sure I have put on.

LadyThompson · 16/04/2009 11:49

Thanks Kayz! I needed that. Fingers crossed for tonight...if you haven't lost any though, 6lb last week is three weeks' worth!

Kayzr · 16/04/2009 17:33

Copied from main thread.

Just back from WW. I have lost half a pound!! Not much but a loss all the same.

Veggiemummy · 17/04/2009 22:51

sneaks in and mingles with the crowd trying not to look like I haven't been on for a week & a half<

What? no I was here last remember? I'm sure I was. Ok I admit it. Have been feeling quite despondent about my weight. I like popping on to see how others are doing as it cheers me up to know that my lovely friends are losing but it seems to I get no where.

However, my weight this Friday is 79.3kg so only down 200gms or about half a pound but I did my Wii fitness coach physical challenge test thing tonight and my hips are smaller by an inch my thighs half an inch and a little off my biceps. Also I'm inproving in upper body and core strength and my cardio fitness so I must be getting somewhere. I certainly won't be racing properly yet but am starting to think about it. We are doing a little fun run with the kids on Sunday and I'm going to sign up for one of those little 5km race for life things in May. It's just nice to be getting towards feeling fit again. Also the talk of BF weight loss has reminded me a lot of the loss came off after 5 months a huge amount came off between 7-9months. I BF til ds1 was nearly 2 but the effects of the feeding on my weight started slowing down when he was only having one feed a day from about 18months.

pmk1 · 19/04/2009 11:39

Geez Veggie impressive BF time! I'm more of a pumper now - DS just really gets distracted when I BF so only lasts 10 mins - except first feed of the day which last 30 or so since i'm so full I spose!
Well I've been actioning the fitness / balance / swiss ball thing this week - and we are both doing strict diets - ie: oats in the morn, rice cakes with toppings for lunch (well me) I've heard dh has been scoffing donoughts at work on-the-go and then for dinner a lot of fish / chicken and tons of Veggies with no starch - DH has lost almost 2 kg this week - despite the fact I busted him in the middle of the night scoffing a Choc chip cookie in bed!
I have been writing down what I eat and it has made a massive difference - done a spreadsheet with BMR recorded and have managed to get calorie deficit each day with a bit on the x trainer and some sit ups etc.... Some will think i'm a nutter, but I really do think it helps writing it down... Just tried on bikini though not pretty - tanning will help so be hitting the bottle soon

SummerLightning · 19/04/2009 20:14

pmk don't think you are nutty at all....I have been trying to do similar, and IT IS NOT WORKING!!
I can't believe it. I have eaten soup or salad for lunch (no bread, except a couple of times I have been out and it has come with), chicken/fish + lots of veggies for dinner, couple of times I have had cous or rice with dinner as well, muesli and yoghurt for breakfast, plus fruit in between. Been running 30-40 minutes or cycling 1.5-3 hrs EVERY DAY except 1, have done this for 2 weeks and have lost no discernable weight. Oh and hardly any booze either. No choclate for easter either.
I am so so so annoyed! I guess I just have to keep going but I am losing motivation big time. This was meant to be my big push to lose weight as it is always hard to lose last bits of weight so i thought I would do it fast. Fat chance, v annoyed.

OP posts:
pmk1 · 20/04/2009 07:42

Yay!!! Down 1kg this week!! My plan is working! 63.7 now..... SL is the spreadsheet still somewhere?

Summer Haven't a clue what has happened with your plan? You sound like you are doing a lot more exercise than I am. Did you work out your BMR?
