New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

I was going to say the same Lady - if it's coming off slowly and steadily, it will stay off And that rowing machine you have is one of the best exercise you can do i've been told.
Veggie, if you are able to do a triathalon, i'm sure you don't have many wobbly bits to worry about!

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 11:24

Thank you....sorry for being a baby

sybilfaulty · 22/07/2009 13:28

Aw, LadyT, don't be uspet. I am still hugely fat (need to lose about ano 1 1/2 st or ten kilos I think) and am here for the long haul too. You have done bloody well so far and you will keep off what you have lost. Much healthier to do it slowly. Think of what you will have a achieved by the time O is 1. Besides, you are fantastically gorgeous looking anyway and very lovely, which is far more important than what you weigh.

Courage and faith girls. We can do this

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 13:33

Thanks Sybs...I have just got to knuckle down.

Had two slices wholemeal toast for breakfast, with Flora light (I always have this for breakfast) plus a white coffee.

Lunch has been a WW lentil and carrot soup and a low fat yoghurt. I am still hungry so will crack open the raw carrots and celery.

Supper is a bit of a poser. I would like to have wholemeal pasta, with pesto sauce and with roasted peppers thrown in and chickpeas (to lower the GI) but I am worried about the carbs in the pasta and the calories in the pesto, so not sure...

sybilfaulty · 22/07/2009 13:37

I would not worry about the carbs myself as you need some energy and the rest of your day sounds very light. The pasta is good for you, surely, as long as you don't eat too much. When I am feeling virtuous I weigh the pasta (or I can end up eating nearly 200g dry weight!) and then fill up on salad to make a huge plateful. You are veggie though so need to watch the protein - do the chickpeas give you that? Sounds like a delicious dinner to me, so I'd say go for it, but just don't eat too much of it.

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 13:46

I have to eat these sorts of amounts as otherwise I don't lose anything at all, even the half a pound a week I am losing now

I think I will weigh the pasta later, that's a good idea...(yes, protein in the chick peas)

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 14:03

yes probably should listen to Sybs - I'm a bit of a nutter when it comes to weightloss and tend to try everything and grill dh until he reluctantly tells me how to do things the wrong way Cutting carbs works for me - but don't get me wrong I eat them for breaky - I forgot you are a veg Lady, that makes cutting carbs slightly trickier....
PS dh is trying to get lighter for the bike, and has recently instructed me to cut carbs out of his dinner too, and all the pasta lovers won't want to know what my spaghetti bolognaise now consists of!

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 14:35

I do actually try to restrict my carbs, but now and then, maybe once a fortnight, I let myself have pasta but only wholemeal...

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 14:36

(Wholemeal pasta isn't lower carb, just lower GI)

daisydora · 22/07/2009 14:38

I have just got the Ab-Cruncher out of the attic!! DD thinks its a climbing frame, DS is trying to suck it and all this when I am trying to use the bloody thing!

So I gave up time to exercise the fingers on MN instead

BTW I simply could not live without carbs, esp pasta I love it, love it, love it! Having said that I had a chicken salad for lunch (no carbs) and it was delicious and as yet I am not hungry!

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 15:35

I like pasta too, and takes awhile to get used to not eating carbs at dinner... but LadyT, low GI is good!
I just think stodgy, starchy pasta or pototo is diet suicide at night, and not necessary for sleeping but very necessary for morning.
LOL Daisy!
I've been using the balance/yoga ball too for abs - very good workout with that...

hattyyellow · 22/07/2009 15:44

Can I rejoin! (Waves feebly and apologises for not keeping in touch due to 3 under 4 year olds and being back at work part time)...

I'm stuck solid at 73 kg (11 stone 4). Want to get back to pre-preg 65 kg. Am 5ft 7.

Still breastfeeding which just makes me soooooo hungry! DD3 just not interested in taking any formula, although she is doing well on solids so cutting back on milk a bit.

Like Syb I need to get back into work clothes for the autumn. Too poor and stingy to start buying expensive work clothes in bigger sizes. Fed up of huge breastfeeding boobs and extra weight now .

hattyyellow · 22/07/2009 15:45

I found low GI really useful for losing the weight after the twins - it was the only thing that really worked. Oatcakes and porridge were my staple diet!

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 15:46

Right, I am not having pasta tonight any more. I can't live with the guilt!

I am going to do stuffed peppers (stuffed with lentils, onions and various other healthful choices - mixed with a spoon of pesto) plus salad.

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 15:50

Hello Hatty! Lovely to see you.

We need Summer to come back to rev up the spreadsheet again. She's probably zooming around on her bike somewhere.

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 16:53

Oh no Lady!!! I feel so awful!!! Don't listen to me - I'm bad! Awful! I do things the wrong way! I will shut up!! (brown bread and pasta is much better than stodgy white though )!! Ok, enough!! sorry - i'm sutting up now!!

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 16:54

Don't avoid pasta if you want / like it - just eat the brown stuff like you say..... But (hi hattyt!) yes, porridge is good.... Lo GI diet really works too

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 16:56

oh and after just reading back I clearly use too many exclamation marks too....

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 17:18

It's ok PMK! You are quite right. I should avoid pasta really! I am serious about this weightloss malarkey and it involves sacrifices! (You haven't got the monopoly on the exclamation marks )

daisydora · 22/07/2009 19:40

Well I managed another run, 20 mins this time . Although I have pushed it a bit too far as I have already stiffened in the thighs already. Obv not enough warming up/down/shake it all around!

PMK I love a good !!!!!

Hello Hatty

LadyThompson · 22/07/2009 19:54

Well done Daisy!

I went for a walk in my Fit Flops

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 20:00

Oh I just wrote a big message then my itouch battery died and lost it all so to recap

Lady swap your soup lunches for pasta lunches and soup dinners. Though I find calorie counting better than cake carb restricting. It's best to find what works for you but most importantly more than finding a diet that helps you lose weight it's find a lifestyle that supports you keeping the weight off. Restricting will help lose the weight fast but if you return to old habits you it won't stay off best to lose it slowly but also slowly chance your eating habits. Also you probably should get your consultant to refer you to a dietician as you don't want to extreme diet in such a way that is unhealthy for you condition.

Daisy well done, your sore thighs will be from last nights exercise. Make sure you rest tomorrow night, muscle will only grow when you rest, it doesn't grow while actually exercising.

Oh and PMK your DH is right about the knees but remind him that cycling can be a bit bad for the boy bits?!?!?

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 20:28

yeah Veg we've had that conversation, and he reckons it's more with endurance stuff and thinks he's nowhere near doing enough cycling for it to effect his swimmers, however, he has agreed to take it easy until the new babypmk is one the way! He has been instructed to make it happen fast if he wants to do anymore races soon!

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2009 20:42

LOL somehow I thought you would have had those words PMK. I have to say DH used to do almost full time cycling (as in no cross training and lots of time in the saddle) and still does quite a bit and he eats a lot of tofu both things that are supposed to effect his boys but we got pregnant both times straight away.

pmk1 · 22/07/2009 21:02

yeah dh keeps going on about how Chris Boardman has 5 kids
