New thread for us to waffle on and moan about baby fat, without boring the others...and hopefully drop a few pounds along the way!

I am currently 11 stone - 69.8 kg
Want to be pre preg weight of 59 kg, about 9 stone 4 i think.

If everyone posts stats maybe i can do a bisou style list. (don't post weights if you don't want to! amount to lose will do!)

Weigh in on Mondays?

kmp1 · 16/03/2009 12:17

64.8! yay - not sure last week though as I forgot to weigh, but I know i've lost... must be all the pumping (milk not iron lol)

SummerLightning · 16/03/2009 15:01

Hi all,
I am now 65.1!
Hooray.
Well done Nolda and Kmp!
Sybil I will update your numbers. I think the loss thing is cos you had lost a few lbs before we all started. I'll just add them to the first week or something. Not sure about the amount to lose and where that went wrong!

daisydora · 16/03/2009 16:23

I stayed the same tthis week, which I was expecting due to my lack of healthy eating this week. TBH I thought I would have put on, so am pleased I haven't.

Well done Nolda, KMP SL.

I've just been to visit a friend who's lo is only 2 weeks. Anyway I haven't seen her for a few weeks prior to the birth and she informed me she put on 5 and a half stone by the end!!! I think thats a record

daisydora · 16/03/2009 16:32

Have just returned from a toddler group where there is a woman who's DS was born same day as mine, also totally bf. She was saying he feeds every 1.5-2 hours morning/night-timeand has since birth. The poor woman said she felt like the walking dead and her DH wanted her to try a bottle of formula at night but she felt guilty as she never had to do it with her other DS. I said to try that or get her DH to give some EBM so she can get her head down for a few hours. I'm amazed she was standing, hats off to her, made my odd bad night seem a little insignificant

I love toddlerisms. DD's fav saying at the moment is 'how do I get to sleep mummy?'. I tell her to close her eyes and stop talking which she does and the opens her eyes declaring 'I can't sleep mummy I'm broken!'

daisydora · 16/03/2009 16:32

Oops wrong thread!!!!!

kayzr · 18/03/2009 09:55

I'm going to go on the Slim Fast diet. I am exercising for about 15 minutes a day, not including running around with DS1. I'm eating much smaller portions and not snacking between meals.

kayzr · 18/03/2009 11:34

Changed my mind. I'm going to go to WW. Hopefully it will work.

daisydora · 18/03/2009 18:39

I think WW is good Kayz, more a 'healthy eating regime' than a diet. Are you going to do it online or go to a group?

Veggiemummy · 18/03/2009 19:21

Kayz your gonna hate me for this but you need to do 40 mins of consistent increased activity and heart rate ie exercise to burn fat. However shorter periods can be muscle building and increased muscle will burn more fat even when your just standing still. So if you can only fit in 15 mins can you make it a bit more muscle building. I had a friend who did WW and she initially just changed her eating habits to follow the points system and as with most she lost loads of weight but her weight loss eventually slowed as she lost as much as she could through food alone then she started walking at a decent pace for 40 mins every 2nd and lost the rest. Waiting to do the exercise helped her get a handle on the dietary changes without being extra hungry from the exercise. Obviously exercise means you can ad points to the food bit but it just gave her some time to get into the eating to the points system.

Alternatively if you have the time you could slowly increase your exercise I wouldn't recommend jumping straight up to 40 mins.

SummerLightning · 18/03/2009 20:13

kayz Glad you decided on WW rather than SlimFast, those slimfast things look rancid.
Yuk yuk. i can see how you could lose a stone by doing the slimfast for maybe 3 weeks but I think you would be bonkers to try and do it to lose a lot of weight.
I have decided to start running. A half hour run is a lot more tiring than a half hour turbo train with the effort I am putting in (too lazy on the turbo at the moment). And with it getting better weather I prefer to go outside. But a half hour bike ride is not enough to get anywhere good from my house. Also I remember when I used to run I used to lose weight quite easily.

EffiePerine · 18/03/2009 21:43

Summer: I'm tempted to try running as well, but first need to unpack that bloody pump so there's an emergency milk supply AND persuade DH that he can manage both boys for an hour or so at a time. Thinking of twice a week to start with. Hope my hips can manage it, they were very wobbly and painful towards the end of my pg but I can manage walking OK so will see...

I loved running when I did it regularly, even though I only managed a few miles at a time at a VERY slow pace.

SummerLightning · 18/03/2009 23:05

Would you go out for a whole hour to start with? I only went for half an hour, there is frozen milk in the house, but tbh I would've been back before DH could've defrosted it anyway.
I am sure your DH can manage both for an hour anyway, you need some time off!

Veggie I can't do more than 15 minutes. After 10 minutes my knee really starts to hurt and I push through it for another 5. After that I can't do anymore.

Veggiemummy · 19/03/2009 12:00

Kayz actually you probably shouldn't do any exercise til you've had a session with the physio I'm quite worried about your knee, it must be so painful for you. Seriously you will see good results with the WW if you stick to it. Just give your knee a rest for now.

daisydora · 20/03/2009 10:54

Posting today as I got weighed at WW last night, and I lost 2.5 lb, so thats a total of 10lb.

Just need to lose 4lb by Easter when I go on my hols as that was my target.

And to all those of you who go running you have my total respect, I can't run for more than about 5 mins and even then I look like my Nan trying to catch a bus

SummerLightning · 21/03/2009 21:46

Hello I just thought I should confess I had some FISH AND CHIPS last night, and am feeling guilty.
Oh dear. They were good though.

SummerLightning · 22/03/2009 22:39

Hello I have updated the spreadsheet for this week here. It's being a bit slow today though.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 23/03/2009 08:18

72.5 today

hoping last week was a blip. The weather has helped, we've been out and walking most of the day instead of mooching about inside.

Nolda · 23/03/2009 08:37

Well done Daisy and Effie.

Today I weigh 79.2kg so have put on 200g. poo! Nevermind a new week, etc.

SummerLightning · 23/03/2009 09:09

Hello I am 64.7 so I have lost a bit, 400g, about a lb.
I have been doing loads and loads of exercise but I have eaten FISH AND CHIPS and also spent the nice weather in beer gardens drinking beer from time to time.
So less beer and fish and chips for me this week.

OP posts:
kayzr · 23/03/2009 11:55

I've lost 2lbs!!!

kayzr · 23/03/2009 15:30

I found my dream bike today. This is my Trek. It's £350 so I am saving a bit of money every month and I will buy it soon hopefully. The new bike shop is great. They let you try the bikes round the car park, they give you a 6 week check, and will change the saddle within 90 days if it not comfortable.

But there is also this road bike. Just don't look at the price. Got to win lotto this weekend.

SybilFaulty · 23/03/2009 19:33

WEll done to everyone who has lost weight. I am 1lb down, so moving (slowly) in the right direction.

Oops, baby crying, back later.

Veggiemummy · 23/03/2009 22:23

Hooray 79.3 kg so down 700gms which is about 1.5lb. Not much but better than up. I hope to break into 78kg next week. The other good thing is I had to measure my hips & waist for my Wii fitness coach thing and they were slightly smaller so that's good.

Kayz nice bikes but full carbon is over rated, but it would def look quite sexy to ride. The bike shop deal is good and always good to have a friendly helpful bike shop but have you thought of looking at eBay or loot or something like that for 2nd hand bikes. There are loads of people who buy nice bikes then hardly use them and with the credit crunch on many of those people might want to get some cash so will be selling their bikes. Worth a look.

Veggiemummy · 23/03/2009 22:28

Oh and congrats all the 'losers' so far so good. Also Summer good of you to confess, not sure if I should confess to all the cakes I've consumed. I have decided henceforth when presented with a cake or fat laden treat to ask myself if it is worth the calories. Then I don't miss out on anything really good but should (in theory) ditch the regular cakes and muffins I am having to accompany my coffee at cafes.
