Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Wow, this thread has become huge

Right, I weighed myself this morning and my starting weight is 22.4
Hence my initial goal is 22 stone.

Have just come in from a couple of hours work (which was mainly sitting down) and am about to head out for a swim....
Did have two coffees with sugar in adn two slices of toast with peanut butter though

Notreallycutoutforthis · 12/01/2009 11:36

Oh hippi - peanut butter is actually supposed to be a good idea - good protein to stop you snacking, and better fat than you'd get fro dairy. Just go for the stuff without tons of added sugar!

PinkChick · 12/01/2009 11:38

not to put too fine a point on it..say im the only bee in your bonnet...make a little bird house in you souuuuuuullll..gues we're same age then LOL

hippipotami · 12/01/2009 11:40

Ah, fab news about the peanut butter then Will leave the dc's version alone adn buy a healthier option, and get some rice cakes too

bellavita · 12/01/2009 11:40
Buda · 12/01/2009 11:43

God I am so rubbish! Was reading a thread about using up leftovers and remembered that there was some curry and rice in fridge so just had that for lunch. It wasn't a huge amount but it was take away curry so NOT healthy!. Aargh.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 12/01/2009 11:48

Oy Buda -

"Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips"

So shut it, right?

bellavita · 12/01/2009 11:49

Buda, doesn't matter, just start again.

If it helps, have salad or just a plate of veggies for tea tonight?

Buda · 12/01/2009 12:00

Thanks guys. I know it doesn't matter really but unfortunately that attitude has led to be being over 16 stone! Will make up for it tonight.

eekareindeer · 12/01/2009 12:06

I don't want to sound like a stuck record but, please, I urge everyone here to have a look at a great thread started by hammouhouseofhorror in the big/slim/ weightloss section 15/10/08 ("I've recently lost 4 stone", or something like that).

It is a beautiful thing to read. Very inspirational. Hammou's story will resonate with so many of us here.

Can someone link? (sorry to be pathetic emoticon).

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 12:07

Yeah Buda, as long as when you make a mistake you don't think "ah sod it" have done that now, so might as well have a big bar of chocolate and crisps and a fish supper lol.

Which is what I usually do! . Pick yourself up, brush yourself down and off ye go. .

Still don't have a song!

Buda · 12/01/2009 12:10

Actually yes MHE - that is what I usually do! But not this time!

Buda · 12/01/2009 12:15

eekareindeer - is this the thread you mean? Haven't read it as need to go do stuff but will read later.

swedishmum · 12/01/2009 12:16

I haven't weighed myself for years, but will go by how my clothes fit for now.
For now I'm wearing Asda £6 bootleg jeans - not as bad as they sound, even dd1 (15) approved - as I hope they'll be too big in a couple of weeks.
I'm drinking lots of water and my veg soup is simmering - have to wait in all day for a delivery so I need to avoid the fridge. Cheese is my biggest downfall.

eekareindeer · 12/01/2009 12:29

That's the one Buda. Thanks. Read and enjoy.

ChirpyGirl · 12/01/2009 15:15

Iam having a good day!

Not only have I lost my pound for this week, but I also started my period, so I am wondering if I have lost more and its water retention, or if I have drunk enough water to stop retaining it, either way it's great!

As a reward to myself, as we all have bad colds and I have crippling period pain I am going to take today off my dvd and do it tomorrow instead, I walked round tesco instead...and carried DD2 while doing it so thats my workout for today

Hope everyone elses day is going well! and Buda, I have just had a lovely cookie, so am going to have sweet potatoes with my shepherds pie tonight instead of real ones, just balance it out!

And that thread is fab, I have added it to my watch list too.

andyrobo237 · 12/01/2009 16:35

Oh I started off so well - porridge for breakfast, 40 mins in gym, then had sandwich for lunch, followed by an afternoon snack of crisps, revels and a mince pie!!!!

Grilled chicken and loads of veg for tea for me, followed by 30 mins in wiifit once kids are in bed!!

Weigh-in is wednesday, so need to be good tomorrow!!

ladymariner · 12/01/2009 16:42

Hi everyone, I'm in need of support please. I joined the thread last night, (wow, the speed its growing is making me realise it's not just me!) and I've just walked in from SW. Well, I had a cry on dh first cos if he asked me if I was ok, and I'm clearly not.
I joined SW last march and up till last Aug I had lost 1 stone 91/2 lbs, I was so happy and on a roll. Since then I've put a stone back on I weigh just over 15 stones, and I feel so sad and unhappy.
I've decided to really try to stick at it, and hopefully we can encourage each other on here aswell.

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 16:52

Hi Ladymariner,

Well, try to look on the bright side, thats what I've had to do. You're still 9 1/2lbs lighter than you were in March.

I was the same. Was 12st 6lbs last March, got down to 9st 8lbs by July and then found myself back at 11st 6lbs last week.

At least now you have decided to do something about it and get it back off again. Before you know it you'll be back down to where you were and hopefully even lighter!

You've done it once and you can do it again, only this time you've learned a lesson. (Well hopefully I have too!).

xxx

ladymariner · 12/01/2009 17:00

Thanks Mum, appreciate that

Why is it so hard to lose weight and so flipping easy to put it back on??? Sitting here looking at photos and deciding what it is I want to achieve and Hopefully getting in the right frame of mind to do it.

Going to sort tea out now, and plan a menu for the rest of the week. One that doesn't include shedloads of chocolate/crisps/anything that can't run fast enough........

swedishmum · 12/01/2009 17:09

Hi everyone
I always imagined everyone else on mn was a willowy size 12. This is great for me because I have an aversion to talking about my weight in RL. Hope everyone's doing well. It's really not worth beating yourself up about slip ups - I know that urge that says I've had a malteser, I might as well eat a box of truffles! Keeping occupied is the best way not to snack. Hammou's story is indeed inspiring - here's hoping we do as well as she did!

duckyfuzz · 12/01/2009 17:44

ok quite a good start to this today I think, bitesize shredded wheat, juice, coffee for breakfast, coffee mid-morning at work, working lunch (yuk, so hardly ate any!) polos in the car, fruit, good sausages, baked pot and broccoli for tea with DTs followed by fruit. I find I snack less if I eat early with them, so will try to keep this up. Haven't actually weighed myself yet, too scared as I was unhappy enough with my weight before Christmas and I know I've put some on in the past month, but I will do so on wii later, just before my run...

Well done to everyone else, I do like having people to talk to who can't actually see me!!

eekareindeer · 12/01/2009 19:10

Yes, what I like about Hammou's thread is a) that the issue of comfort eating is addressed and b) she seems so at ease and peace with herself and c) she writes in such a lovely calm way and is so modest.

I heart Hammou and she is an inspiration to me.

swedishmum · 12/01/2009 21:36

The Love Food Hate Waste (how apt ) lady is coming to my house to make over my fridge/freezer (heard today). My main worry is the photographer, but at least I didn't put them off with a silly excuse. So my nice trousers MUST look OK by then! Would hate to have fattest ever me in a govt booklet about using up leftovers!!

thritbies · 13/01/2009 00:27

Hello, weighed this am, and seemingly put on 3lb! Now I know I had choc at the weekend but that is ridiculous. Been rubbish today, fresh start tomorrow.
