Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

MariaCC · 31/03/2009 22:29

Hi MumHadEnough. That's fighting talk!! You've done two days so clearly you are some kind of dieting genius. This time is going to be great. Right. Feel like a boxing coach person so am going to stop now. Welcome back!

Dilly - FIVE STONE! You lost HOW MUCH? Wow. Funnily enough, I have EXACTLY those two problems as well!

MumHadEnough · 01/04/2009 15:12

Thanks Maria.

Hi Dilly and welcome. You've lost five stone before so this weight loss should be a doddle for you! I also have those two problems btw!

I used to be a chef and totally love food, hence there stems my problem. For the moment I am abstaining from food completely to try and break what is definitely an addiction by doing the cambridge diet. So I'm having meal replacement shakes.

Oh and did I mention I'm planning on stopping smoking next week too. Talk about a glutton for punishment! Thought I might as well get it all over and done with at the same time!

Hope you are all doing good!

I must try and keep posting on this thread. If I keep posting, it means I'm being good.

neverwasswedishanyway · 01/04/2009 19:26

Wow MHE - giving up smoking as well!
I'm kind of keeping at it slowly. Still no bread, biscuits, milk or choco;ate since mid Jan. Iknow if I exercised and never drank alcohol I'd be doing it a bit quicker but I need it to work long term. I'm working on it...
Hi Dilly. I'd love to know what losing 10lb means. Welcome!

MumHadEnough · 03/04/2009 00:03

Haven't stopped Yet swedish lol. We'll see how it goes.

Well done you! You're doing fab.

Was starving tonight. Haven't quite managed to do sole source. Ended up having a couple of boiled eggs for my dinner tonight instead. Was far too starving.

Should do okay tomorrow as I've taken the day off work and I'm going to decorate the livingroom, teal and fawn, so that should keep me busy.

Random colours just thrown into that sentence there incase you're interested. lol

neverwasswedishanyway · 04/04/2009 09:41

How did the decorating go MHE? I need to do our bedroom but there's too much stuff to move (lazy emoticon)...
I'm feeling a bit bored of low carb now (time of the month I guess - never noticed feeling a bit bloated when I was so bloated already before!) but am determined to be more active this holiday as long as the weather stays OK. Just need to remember not to lick out the bowl for the rice krispie nest cakes

neverwasswedishanyway · 07/04/2009 20:05

Come on you lot - where are you?

MumHadEnough · 09/04/2009 21:05

Hi Swedish, I'm here! Only just mind you.

To tell the truth I only did the diet up until last Friday. I started talking Champix last week in preparation of stopping smoking and found I really need to eat when taking it to stop me feeling sick.

I have stopped smoking today and notice the Champix are making me feel less sickly, so I'm going to TRY and go back on it on Monday. In the meantime it gives me an excuse to munch easter eggs .

Lol at licking out the bowl. My son made some chocolate nest cakes yesterday and they were fab. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Have a good weekend and a lovely Easter everyone.

neverwasswedishanyway · 10/04/2009 22:44

Hi MHE
Good for you - hope the non smoking is going OK. Hope to see you back on here after all the Easter eggs - lots of dh's relatives over here on Monday so food includes creme brulee, easiest ever choc mousse with lindor chocolate and white choc trifle. It's a good thing I haven't got a sweet tooth!!

neverwasswedishanyway · 11/04/2009 22:31

Got some summer clothes out of the loft - lots of tops from last year now look like comedy tops . Yes I'm still very far from my target but it did give me a bit of a boost.

MumHadEnough · 13/04/2009 20:40

Eggscellent Swedish (ok sorry, bad joke!). Can't beat clothes too big to make you feel good.

Non smoking doing good thanks and hope to get back in the swing of the diet tomorrow.

MumHadEnough · 14/04/2009 11:23

Back on track today, so far so good!

Hoping the dieting will take my mind off the not smoking (although thats not really bothering me anyway, thanks to Champix).

neverwasswedishanyway · 15/04/2009 12:17

Glad it's going well. Had a chocolate free Easter though drank some wine as we were out / entertaining. Also it was our 21st wedding anniversary last week.

So good new intentions - we're having our summer bash in a couple of months so that's a new target for me.

MumHadEnough · 15/04/2009 14:16

Thanks Swedish. Still doing well although I am STARVING today.

7 days off the fags today though

Its tough doing both at the same time but to be totally honest I want to eat FAR FAR FAR more than I want to smoke. It'll be much better when I get into Ketosis though, as you don't get hungry then and the Champix is doing good at keeping the cravings for fags in check.

Super well done you though for not having any choc over Easter, that's amazing. I personally had a box of Ferrero Rocher and a box of Flake Moments for brekkie between Saturday and Sunday lol. I am very very naughty!

So what's the summer bash? Big party at your house?

MumHadEnough · 15/04/2009 14:18

Ladymariner, were are you? Have you fallen off the wagon?

neverwasswedishanyway · 18/04/2009 10:38

Hi - yes, we have a party every summer and traditionally have a naff theme. I never really grew up.
I'm feeling really grumpy today - 3 extra children for sleepovers and my no.4 always gets over excited. Dh has also been working away much less and it really irritates me - hardly his fault I know. Just want everyone to go away and leave me in peace and quiet. Do we have a grumpy emoticon?

MumHadEnough · 27/04/2009 12:01

Tumbleweed blows through thread

Where are you all? Yes I fell off the wagon yet again.

Back on today AGAIN! So much for my last attempt last time, lucky if I lasted three days but the temptation to eat was too too much due to not smoking.

BUT nearly three weeks off the fags and I feel strong enough to give it a go again. So here we go............

Hope you are all well. Please come and help me be strong.

neverwasswedishanyway · 01/05/2009 20:20

Hi

Just saw this. Hope you are well and truly back on the wagon now. I've slowed down my progress - still losing gradually - because I've started working more and I'm starving!!

How about a real renewed effort after the long weekend? Says she with a couple of sociable days out....

MumHadEnough · 02/05/2009 12:01

Hi Swedish,

Yes I'm still on the wagon, or at least I was until this morning. Just made a huge pot of soup using ham ribs and all was going well til I went to strip the ham and I've scoffed most of them .

Desperately trying not to scoff everything in the cupboard now as I am craving chocolate something awful.

Glad to hear you are still losing though, at least thats something!

mowmi · 05/05/2009 21:36

Hey ladies, can I join you? Need to loose at least 2.5 stone before I go back for a further round of IVF!

neverwasswedishanyway · 05/05/2009 23:28

Hi Mowmi

We're really nice on here but a few people have disappeared.....
IVF seems a really good target to work for - do you have a time scale?

I've hit a bit of a plateau. All this not eating stuff really is hard work!

mowmi · 06/05/2009 20:39

Thanks for the welcome... honest answer is asap but I'm being very sensible as I need to balance hormones and lose weight at the same time. I've been to see a nutritionist who specialises in fertility and she's put me on GI so I'll see where that takes me.
I've already had 2 rounds of IVF - the last sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks in Jan this year. Consultant was quite honest and said the only thing that she could see causing the problems was my PCOS which is made worse by being overweight.

What's going on with you - how much have you lost and how much do you want to lose?

neverwasswedishanyway · 06/05/2009 21:52

I didn't weigh myself to start with - wish I had as I'm actually quite pleased with myself .
All I know is I'm a good couple of sizes smaller - feel much comfier - and giving up wheat has improved my asthma beyond all recognition. I went to work in some trousers I wouldn't have even managed to pull up a couple of months ago. Long way to go still. I'm taking it slowly - it doesn't feel like a diet and I am not bingeing for the first time I remember. I'm in control of my carbs!
GI sounds a really sensible way to move forwards - wishing you all the best with it.

squilly · 06/05/2009 21:58

I'm getting bigger and bigger and can't bear it any more. I need to lose 3 stones to get to an 'ideal' weight, but would be happy to lose 2 stones and be just better, iykwim.

So...can I join?

I'm an ex WW devotee and can't think of any other way to do this. I also lost 2.5 stones with WW before, so I know it can be done. Just need the motivation.

My main motivation is health. I'm in my 40's and my joints are starting to groan every morning at the thought of carrying too much weight. I've grown out of most of my clothes and I'm fed up with being tired. So.....

My first goal is 4lb by the end of May. That's just over a pound a week, which should be achievable as the first weeks are usually quite dramatic.

I'll weigh myself tomorrow and confirm all my measurements then....hope this is o.k...

neverwasswedishanyway · 06/05/2009 22:57

Hi Squilly and welcome! I'm 45 and must say losing some weight has made me feel a good deal less blobby. It's also been nice doing the annual thing of getting old clothes down from the loft and finding they actually fit. Pity they are so out of date....
