Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Hello, can I join please?

I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but I am only 5ft so every pound shows.

I am a lifetime member of ww and most of the time sort of follow points, but since December, mince pies, christmas pud, chocs, drink etc it has all gone out of the window.

On Saturday I have started to watch what I eat again properly.

This morning I got on the scales and am about 11 1bs overweight, which might not seem a lot but my clothes are very tight when they normally fit nicely.

Well done to Lewis for starting this thread.

bellavita · 12/01/2009 08:54

Oggsdog - how much water are you drinking? I tend to drink loads of coffee (yeah I know, not good) and do you drink it just before meals or throughout the day?

Lulumama · 12/01/2009 09:43

am such a div,m forgot about this and ate two slices of white bread toast and butter and a huge mug of sugared tea for breakfast

sorreeeeeeeeee!

Grublin · 12/01/2009 09:47

I've had a coffee so far today, gone off breakfast lately. Might go have a weetabix in a mo.
Will weigh myself in a bit and post (AF is here so am heavier and more bloated looking - not a good start for a weigh in)

bellavita · 12/01/2009 09:47

never mind Lulu - just start again by having a healthy lunch.

bellavita · 12/01/2009 09:48

Grublin, having breakfast does help as you are less likely to snack on things you shouldn't later on in the day.

Buda · 12/01/2009 09:53

Hi ladies.

Lewis - love your one pound poem!

I am 16 stone 8lbs. Heaviest I have ever been. In the past I have tried WW, SW, Atkins, low GI, calorie counting, Herbalife, slimming pills etc. Am 5 ft 7 and a size 22/24.

My initial goal is to lose 8lbs to get to 16 stone.

My basic plan for this week is low GI cereal with soya milk every morning and soup for lunch. Snacks will be fruit or yoghurt or more soup. Sensible evening meals. Lots of water. I am going to do this for a week and see how I get on. Am hoping that because it isn't a prescribed plan I will feel less obsessed.

Exercise wise I will use my cross-trainer for 10 mins a day. Would go walking but it's -6 here today!

I will be 45 in May and am disgusted with myself that I have spent half of my twenties and all of my thirties and now half of my forties, overweight. And this weekend I started with the dreaded hot flushes! So I need to lose weight for health reasons too - BP was a little high last time I was at doc.

Off to pour myself a glass of warm water with lemon! (Can't do cold water as am too cold!)

Grublin · 12/01/2009 09:56

Bellavita, breakfast makes no difference to whether I snack or not during the day .

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 09:58

Morning Ladies!

Well done bamboobutton and oggsdog, on your 2lb losses!

Oggsdog, what plan you on?

I'm on Cambridge and had my first weigh in this morning too, I've lost 7lbs since last Monday, wooooooo hoooooooooo! [Grin].

This takes me down to 10st 13lbs [Grin].

C xxx

bellavita · 12/01/2009 10:00

Oh no, Grublin.

How about then you cut some fruit up and put it in the fridge (a bit like a fruit salad) and use this to snack on? Or maybe some cherry toms, cucumber and pieces of pepper?

I have had this morning 3 slices of weight watchers bread toasted with flora light spread and marmite and 3 cups of coffee. Have just also had a huge glass of water which I would not normally drink.

bellavita · 12/01/2009 10:01

Well done MumHadEnough - that is a fab weight loss.

PinkChick · 12/01/2009 10:02

Buda, i feel the same as you, i think about what a waste it ahs been spening all my teenage years and 20's wearing tents and being fat...i tried a coat on yesterday in next, nothing like what i would normally wear but since losing almost 3st i dont know what suits me anymore...it looked lovely!..its was totally different and totally nothing like me!..or rather the old fat and frumpy me (it was a shortish/bomber type tan leahter jacket with grey hoody underneath)..it was young and trendy nd i loved it...but it was £130!..so i said to dp, as my birthday is in march (even tho i persuaded him to get the wii fit at weekend 'for my birthday'..gos a long way this birthday LOL), as long as i keep losing weight till then, THAT is what i would like..the 18 looked nice, although i had a jumper on under so a bit 'too' fitted IYKWIM, so i would LOVE to be able to get the 16 my march 30th!..going at 1lb a week that will be 11lbs off..almost another stone..and this week just by cutting down as i have had none of my tablets left and using food focus, ive lost 2lbs..so a little ehad start...off to put in my bits on FF now, hope everyone has a nice day.x

PinkChick · 12/01/2009 10:03

WOW MHE, that IS FANTASTIC..WELL DONE!!

bellavita · 12/01/2009 10:09

That's brilliant PinkChick.

Niecie · 12/01/2009 10:10

I'm in as well. 6st to lose - about 35% of my body weight, or a whole 8 yr old!!

I keep joining these threads and not getting very far but I need to do something about it, I really, really, really do.

3st by August and holidays with the in-laws would be good but 1lb by the end of the week would be pretty good and that first, illusive 7lbs would prove that it wasn't just a fluke and progress was being made. End of February for that one or not ambitious enough for the firsr few pounds? Maybe it should be a month from now?

Do we have a regular weigh-in day as a group or do we all just do our own thing?

PinkChick · 12/01/2009 10:14

thanks Bella..although it was only what id put on over xmas, i need 2lbs more off to get back to my lowest and onwards from there..im going to do my weigh ins on a friday too as although i dont splurge on a weekend i am better water/set meals wise through week as im working, so will weigh again friday and see how ive done then..writing it down and seeing that 1 lb a week till my birthday would be almost another stone made me so happy

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 10:18

Thanks guys I feel so much better for it. Thats a 1st week loss though so it won't be anywhere near that next week (although it would be nice)!

I hope you all do wonderful this week x

Oggsdog · 12/01/2009 10:22

Bellavita, I drink at least 2lt of water per day - throughout the day.

I suppose what I'm doing at the moment is actually low GL. I did Cambridge last year but find that I feel deprived and when I cheat, I cheat BIG.
I'm hoping that I can learn to accept a slower weight loss. With Atkins/Cambridge/etc I get into a mindset where 2lbs is disappointing and I want to change that.

I'm having a boiled egg for breakfast and home-made soup for lunch. Evening meal varies but is usually protein and veg (not root veg or sweeetcorn). Tonight I'm going to make a curry and while dd and dh will have it with rice and naan, I will have it with shredded cabbage.
I'm allowing myself pulses as they help fill you up and don't raise blood sugar.

Have been for a 35 minute uphill walk this morning and am feeling more positive than I did earlier.

bellavita · 12/01/2009 10:30

I have just had a large glass of water. Am cleaning upstairs at the minute, but, if I have a glass everytime I go downstairs I think I should be able to do some serious drinking

Grublin · 12/01/2009 10:38

Ok, just got off the scales ~ 12st 10lb.
I'd like to wave goodbye to 2-4lb by next week.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 12/01/2009 10:44

Well I weighed myself this morning, and am 2 oz short of a weight which scares me . So I'm resolving to:

Cut down portion sizes
Substitute at least 2 cups of coffee with green tea
Start proper exercising once I'm shot of this horrible boomerang virus.

1lb by Friday do you think? (Managed expectations a-go-go )

bellavita · 12/01/2009 10:49

Notreally - portion size is key, well I know it is with me anyway.

I have become really lax and would normally have a smaller portion of something but bulk the plate out with loads of veggies or salad and I have got out of this habit

PinkChick · 12/01/2009 11:01

careful with all the water!..too much can be bad too

Notreallycutoutforthis · 12/01/2009 11:11

Agree bellavita - must up the veg count!

BTW - Anyone else have a soundtrack for the diet? I'm listening to the following to boost me:

George Michael - Freedom
They Might be Giants - Birdhouse
Wonderstuff - Size of a Cow
ELO - Mr Blue Sky.

Think I just revealed my age

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 11:29

Oooo a soundtrack for my diet. I'll need to come up with something, thats a really good idea!

Sounds good oggsdog!
