Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

I am in!! I am so very much in, you guys will never get rid of me...

But it needs to be done. Will read thread tommorow. (about to snuggle down with dh to watch some tv)

My overall aim is to lose 8 stone, but may join Lewis and aim for 10. Am 6ft1 tall and I think (have not weighed myself for a while) I am around 23 - 24 stone
Last time I was happy with my weight was 19 stone. Last time I was deliriously happy with my weight (but struggled to maintain it) was at 15stone. So we will see.

But my first goal is half a stone, 7 of those smily happy pounds of fat

Horrid thought of the evenign though - I will need to weigh myself tomorrow morning to get a starting weight [fret]

twoluvlykids · 11/01/2009 21:08

why don't we use this as a "What's (been) for dinner?" type thing as well?

Oh, that's me assuming I can join

I've got to lose 4 stone ideally, but definitely 3 1/2.

Joined Weight Watchers 3 weeks before Christmas and I've lost 5 lbs so far (Christmas was not following WW btw but I lost 1/2 lb).

I love the idea of 1 lb at a time, and love that poem. It's worth sticking on the fridge.

So, for dinner I had low fat beef borginon, brown rice, red cabbage and green peas. 2 glasses of red wine

bamboobutton · 11/01/2009 21:10

yes please lewisfan.

i think i might make my own portion plate (marker pen scrawls) i am useless at portion control, i start off well and then they get bigger over time.

Alambil · 11/01/2009 21:11

Listen; ANYONE can "join" (ie post)... as long as you've got weight to lose!

CandleQueen · 11/01/2009 21:11

I know I'm over weight generally, but I really need to sort out my shape too. I take a size 16 trouser, but need a size 22 top to fit my boobs in! My legs are skinniest, but have a tummy too, so I look like a jacket potato on cocktail sticks.
Low GI is the way to go.
GP has mentioned a weight loss scheme (but she's very anti-drugs) so I think it might be a referral scheme like andyrobo. How does that work?

LowSlungAndOverhung · 11/01/2009 21:19

I think that I'll post pics of my meals (if that doesn't drive you all mad ) as that will make me really concentrate on portion size. I've been so used to piling my plate high and just running it off. Now I pile my plate high and do very little exercise at all.

I used to feel the same about size 16...'I'll never get that big'. I found myself considering a pair of size 18 jeans the other day and got really cross with myself.

Candle Queen, jacket potato on cocktail sticks! I look like a jacket potato full stop! Not forever though. I've not heard of andyrobo.

mamalovesmojitos · 11/01/2009 21:29

off for an early night i think. lets all start tomorrow with hope and concentrating on losing that first pound! night ladies.

swedishmum · 11/01/2009 21:30

I'm in. I'll be 45 next month and by then I'd like to have made a little impact at least - I have a few pairs of lovely trousers that are just a bit too small.

This is my 3rd day - low carb is the best way for me. I bought Coleen Nolan's dad the other day and have been doing that too. I know I won't be eating all the same stuff I cook for the kids/dh but my rule is to make delicious food that I really enjoy. No diet salad cream in this house.

swedishmum · 11/01/2009 21:31

Obviously I didn't buy Coleen's dad, just her dvd

LowSlungAndOverhung · 11/01/2009 21:32

I think that's so important SwedishMum. Lovely fresh, flavourful food! I'm going to make sure I cook extras this week and freeze bits just for me.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 11/01/2009 21:32

Here's a handy website for food tips... this

LowSlungAndOverhung · 11/01/2009 21:32

I did wonder about the Dad.

bamboobutton · 11/01/2009 21:33

i feel so much more motivated posting here, all DH does to help is tell me to stop eating chocolate

im off for an early night too.

night

CandleQueen · 11/01/2009 21:34

Can I join in please? Have 2.5 stone to lose and it's v stubborn (plus I am an unmotivated slattern).

I am 30 (nearly 31) and have been about this much overweight for as long as I can remember apart from nearly a year when I first met dp (I was on the 's' plan...).

Had dd a year ago and am a size 16, prev a 12.

LowSlungAndOverhung · 11/01/2009 21:39

I stood on my scales for the first time in months today. The batteries have died. I think it's a sign - don't obsess, change small habits, eat nice food.

Do any of you weigh everyday?

northender · 11/01/2009 21:44

I'm in! I lost 3 stone 2 years ago on the food doctor diet which I find really good. However I didn't stick with it and slowly it has crept back on. I'm in a better place generally now and feel ready to tackle it, some moral support would be great.

TWINSETinapeartree · 11/01/2009 21:47

i am here, I actually do not posess a pair of scales, I bet there are some in the leisure centre.

singyswife · 11/01/2009 21:51

I need to lose about 3 stone but it never comes off fast enough for me and then I give up. Help me stay motivated.

Alambil · 11/01/2009 21:51

You should NEVER weigh every day - it will dishearten you.

Once a week at LEAST.

Can I Be in??

I have typed this on sooo many big slim threads
I am going to do this Only One Pound at a time.
started January 12st.12lb Now 12st9lb, just want to keep it going!!

will drink more water
will walk more
will eat smaller portions.

If I can stick to this I will be at my goal weight by the time old school friends visit at the end of march

differentID · 11/01/2009 21:52

I have never had a pair of scales in my house. I guess Boots will have regular visits

Oggsdog · 11/01/2009 21:54

Need to get some perspetive and seeing it as one pound at a time might do me good so here I am.

Need to lose between 3 and 4 stone. I'm totally fed up as last year I got to within a stone of my goal but let it all creep back.

Both low carb and low GI (actually very similar) have worked for me in the past. This time I'm cutting out wheat, potatoes, sugar and cow dairy products (has also worked for me before). I'm aiming to drink between 2-3 litres of water a day and will be starting my daily 2m uphill walks again.

singyswife · 11/01/2009 21:58

powerofgreyskull, how did you lose 3lb, I cant shift anything. I am going to salsa class tomorrow and I am doing 3x30min brisk walks and I am doing swimming once a week as of wed.
