Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Actually I think I might weigh myself at my Mum's house...Her scales are consistently 1/2 a stone out!!

ChirpyGirl · 11/01/2009 22:35

Hello, can I come in?
I want to drop below 16 stone.
I am currently 16 10/11 and havent been below 16 for a good few years.
I am doing a carb curfew (as I eat tea with girls and then snack on other stuff) and Joanna hall dvd every other day on teh laptop while DD's nap.

I don't want to do one pound at a time as I fluctuate so much it is ridiculous. When I am on I can gain half a stone in 2 days, and considering I am not regular I don't expect it sometimes and it really pisses me off so I am going to drink more water as well.

I want to run/walk the race for life in May but I can't train or anything as I have no childcare and my area isnt safe to run/walk at night when Dh is home. That is what sucks the most I think, knowing I can't exercise apart from my dvd even if I wanted to!

ChirpyGirl · 11/01/2009 22:37

OOh, somethign I have been doing is the Bob the Builder song on Cbeebies red button, It is bloody annoying but it is an action song, and if I do it properly it has the dd's in fits and me out of beratn in 5 minutes, it loops with his 'normal' song so we do 2 of each song and then turn it off, one version with me holding dd2, which I figure has gotta be like heavy duty weghtlifting!

ChirpyGirl · 11/01/2009 22:41

beratn = breath!

CandleQueen · 11/01/2009 22:43

I'll give that a go Chirpy!

CeceliaAhern · 11/01/2009 22:44

So are we weighing every Monday? Do we post our weights? I would like to lose at least 2 stone. I lost one last year and have put half of it back on. I like the idea of a ppund a week as that would be about 2 stone by summer! Seems fairly doable.

CandleQueen · 11/01/2009 22:49

I'm weighing on a Friday. If it's good news I can relax a little over the weekend. If it's bad news I know I must tighten my belt (IYKWIM!)

thritbies · 11/01/2009 22:53

Hello, I'd like to join in please.

I started my diet last monday, first weigh in tomorrow. Was going well until I allowed myself a kitkat on Fri and then fell off the chocolate wagon all weekend My name is thritbies and I'm a chocoholic.

I need to lose 5 stone. My blood pressure is now too high, so much so that I have had to stop reductil and now the pill. Been trying to lose weight since dd born 3y ago.

Might post weight tomorrow if I have lost any- don't hold your breath! If I haven't then it means less snacks, even healthy options, and possibly signing up to WW or lighterlife.

thritbies · 11/01/2009 22:54

oh and I want the Claire from steps dvd, just as soon as I have some cash

MumHadEnough · 11/01/2009 22:54

Hi all,

Can I join in as no-one has joined me on my Cambridge thread .

I started on Monday at 11st 6lbs, my first weigh in is tomorrow morning. Seem to have lost 6lbs up til today so hoping to see the needle drop below 11 tomorrow morning.

I am off to Egypt on 5th February and NEED to have lost a stone by then or I won't get into my holiday clothes.

My next goal is 9st 6lbs which is what I was the day I got married. I almost managed this during the summer when i got to 9st 8lbs and then I blew it! .

My final goal is 9 stone, although I suspect I might still feel podgy at this and aim for 8 1/2 stone (I'm only 5ft 1"). I can but dream though eh!

ladymariner · 11/01/2009 22:55

Hey everyone, please can I join the happy-pound gang, I've got about 3 stone to lose. God, can't believe I've let myself get to this stage but I have so that's that!!
I go to Slimming World which does work if you do it properly but I've dropped off the wagon so although I still go I need motivation and this sounds like just the place
This sounds like a brilliant place to be!!

candlequeen - read your earlier text about needing a size 16 on the bottom and a size 22 top. Well, that was me till I discovered Bravissimo, they're fantastic. I have huge boobs so I was having to buy bigger tops so that I could cram them in, but they make tops in the size you really are but with extra material round the bust area, its brilliant. I'm a size 16 Super Curvy with them

Jenice · 11/01/2009 23:00

I'm in...

Here's my info:
5ft 1in
14st 6.5lbs
size 18

I've been going to Scottish Slimmers since mid November and have lost 12lbs so far but my motivation is falling as I only lost 1lb last week but after reading your poem I am starting to get remotivated. The only reason I have been going to the class is so the weigh in by someone else shames me to try but I don't tend to follow the plan rigidly.

As a chocaholic I need chocolate daily and also DP needs a large meal every night so I've always tended to have the same.... bad move!!! I have also for a long time deluded myself about how much snacking I did. now this is a typical day for me:

Breakfast: Banana
Mid-morning: Chewy bar (about 100 cals)
Lunch: Sandwich or toastie with cold meat and coleslaw(full fat)
Mid afternoon: Small choc biscuit
Dinner: approx 2/3rds of DP portion of whatever that night

I know this does not sound really healthy but I'm not a diet food/salad type person so instead I am trying to control portion and snacking while not missing out on what I like. If I lose weight when I go to class on a thursday I take the rest of the day off and don't think about portion control for my dinner that way I don't feel like I am being deprived of things like take aways etc.

I've just read this back to myself and I sound like the worlds worst dieter but hey it is working so far.

Good luck all.

ps I found a great recipe site which has loads of tasty recipes which includes a big low calorie section.

MumHadEnough · 11/01/2009 23:05

Jenice I'm a bit like that too but it never works for me, I end up on a binge and can't stop. Hence why Cambridge works for me because it removes the choice iykwim.

I get to step back and then when start eating again I should be able to make nice healthy choice instead of just eating crap constantly!

ladymariner · 11/01/2009 23:09

I binge aswell and then hate myself. The meals I eat are healthy, its the crap I eat afterwards thats the trouble . For example, I did a lovely roast chicken dinner with all the veg then when dh had gone to work and I was watching the skating I ate a magnum and a bowl of cereal (not the healthy stuff either) and some skittles. I know that sounds awful, when I look at it written down I could cry, but it just seems so hard to stop.

Grublin · 11/01/2009 23:10

I have 2.5 - 3 stone to loose. Was going to try the 7lb in 7 days juice diet, but not started that yet.
I can only fit into a few things in my wardrobe now I was a 12/14 pre pregnancies, post pregnancy with DS2 I was a 12 and about 10st(2 yrs ago). I'm now finding myself out growing my 14/16's and fast approaching 18 and about 13st. This is the biggest I've been and don't want to keep increasing
I snack, pick and binge eat, like someone mentioned on TS's thread, I do it due to boredom, depression, anxiety etc.
I dread having to go out socially because I have to spend ages trying to find something I can actually fit in to and also something that doesn't make me look pregnant (I have been asked a number of times if I am expecting again due to belly size )

Jenice · 11/01/2009 23:21

MumHadEnough, I suppose its whatever works for you and we are all different.

Me, I'm like a naughty child in that if I'm told I can't have something then it is the thing I really want and then I end up sneaky eating it feeling the thrill of doing something I shouldn't be!! I'm not sure who I think I am getting one over on but its the rebel in me! If I allow myself all the bad stuff (in small doses) then I don't feel like I'm missing out.

I think its a psychiatrist I need to see not the Scottish Slimmer lady

MumHadEnough · 11/01/2009 23:38

Yup I do that too. Agree with needing to see a psych lol

MumHadEnough · 12/01/2009 00:25

Jenice, just noticed your the same height as me. You must carry it really well as I was an 18 at 12st 6lbs. I'm top heavy though so was 18 on top and 16 bottom!

Looking forward to first weigh in tomorrow morning!

magentadreamer · 12/01/2009 07:25

Please may I join? I would like to lose 3 stone. I'm 5'11" and two weeks ago weighed 14stone today I weigh 13stone 11lbs. I'm a size 16/18 and my first aim is to get back into my 16 work trousers comfortably. I've dusted down my old SW books as I'm no good with weighing stuff, counting points etc. I don't want 28g of cereal I want a bowl full IYSWIM.

magentadreamer · 12/01/2009 07:28

Ladymariner IKWYM about the having a nice healthy dinner then blowing it by eating "crap"- cereal of an evening is my down fall too!

stoppinattwo · 12/01/2009 07:34

Im in....if lulu and andyrobo are in

I have tonnes to lose ...but just a pound at a time please

Oggsdog · 12/01/2009 07:37

Well. I started last Monday.
and I was looking forward to my weigh-in today as by Fri I was registering a 6lb loss. But I didn't keep up my water drinking over the weekend, I ate some carbs and also managed to get through 2 bottles of wine and consequently the bloat came back.

My weigh in this morning gives me a loss of 2lb. Very disappointed with this as normally during my first week I can shed around 10lb (only liquid I know, but it still gives me the boost I need to carry on).

magentadreamer · 12/01/2009 08:14

Well done on the 2lbs Oggsdog!

bamboobutton · 12/01/2009 08:34

done my weigh-in today and im 162lbs, so i've lost 2lbs since last week,

mamalovesmojitos · 12/01/2009 08:46

2lbs a week is what you want! any faster and the more likely you'll put it back on. just keep repeating that to yourself.

well done bamboobutton and oggsdog. about to have my healty breakfast. good luck all.
