Hi girls!!

Right.... the rules:

1 No big goals.
2 No failing.
3 No guilt trips.

Our goals need to be realistic. It freaks me out to think I need to lose 10 stone. That's 140 pounds - it's a WHOLE PERSON!!!!

Therefore I propose that we make ourselves realistic goals. Ignore the final hurdle; the first hurdle is my first half a stone.

7 lbs.

No failing: if you put on any weight, then IT IS ALRIGHT. It will come off again.

We will try our best to keep our weight going down, but if it has a blip, then it has a blip - no big deal, ok?

I am sick and tired of putting myself on and feeling guilt tripped by people because I put a pound or two on this week.

NEWSBREAK: it doesn't matter in the big picture!

Focus on the positives.

We will encourage each other as we muddle along together, agreed?

Here is our inspiration to keep going:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Buda, my mum was a size 16/18 and she made it her goal to be a 12 for her 50th birthday; she did it - she gave herself a year or so I think and she made it so you can do it too

She was so proud that we put her photo in the newspaper! (not a before/after but lots of people only knew her as the larger size.... hardly anyone recognises her now!)

You will be Fit, Fabulous and Forty-Five

Oh thanks Lewis! Well done to your Mum!

Here's to the Fit and Fabulous One Pound Club!

(Still can't believe I will be 45 though - inside I still feel 26!)

swedishmum · 13/01/2009 08:25

Thritbies, India Knight's book says you should only weigh yourself after your morning poo, and never around the time of your period. Weight does fluctuate - I'd try to forget it. Buda, I'm 3 weeks off 45 but feel much younger (will feel a teenager
if when the weight loss works!)

bamboobutton · 13/01/2009 08:28

i had a good day yesterday, managed to resist all snacking and managed my portions, despite looking at it and thinking " it's so small!!"

need to up my water intake though as im drinking only one or two glasses a day.

Buda · 13/01/2009 08:37

OMG - just weighed out a portion of muesli for breakfast! 50g. I think I had been having twice that previously! I do feel full after it and have planned fruit for later if i need something.

swedishmum - I am not sure why I am so shocked by turning 45! Obv I knew it was coming but I was out for dinner with some friends (all 40 or under!) last week and it suddenly dawned on me that I will be 45. Am SILL in shock. Starting hot flushes this weekend hasn't helped!

bellavita · 13/01/2009 08:44

I had a good day yesterday and woke up this morning hungry, which is a good sign. Previously have been waking up still full from the pigging out of the night before!

Buda - I will be 44 in August so not far behind yoiu! but know what you mean when you say you still feel 26 inside

50g of cereal when weighed out does not look that much does it? But you do get used to smaller portion sizes quite quickly though

I managed to knock off two cups of coffee yesterday and have plain water instead.

Lewis - well done to your mum.

Grublin · 13/01/2009 09:24

I've slightly reduced my portion sizes in the past 24hrs by using my boys plates and bowls.
Is a cheesy omelette and oven chips really that bad for you?

bellavita · 13/01/2009 10:18

Grublin - depends if you are using low fat eggs, low fat cheese and low fat oven chips

Jenice · 13/01/2009 11:16

Reflecting on yesterday... naughty me... Ate 4 chocy biscuits cos visitors were round and fatally opened M&S bicuit box which are my fave.... oh well today is going to be a much better day I promise!! It could be worse I could have eaten the whole box and all the crisps in the cupboard so well done my will power and still hoping for 1 pound off this week.

Grublin · 13/01/2009 11:16

Can you get low fat eggs?

MumHadEnough · 13/01/2009 16:04

You can't get low fat eggs, what you can get is eggs that are lower than normal in cholesterol. But they are still quite high.

An egg substitute, which looks like pre-beaten eggs can be used, which is lower in fat than normal eggs. Have never tried it though so no idea what its like!

mumof2rugrats · 13/01/2009 16:35

im in some need of losing bout 2 stone but finding hard as my df loves leaving jammy dodgers on the side and i can hear them calling me and i cant just eat 1 .
i cant eat small portion either ahh ..

bellavita · 13/01/2009 16:51

Have made some chocolate brownies and Nigella's christmas morning muffins today - have resisted the temptation to eat any but I did lick the spoon after putting the brownie mixture in the tin

Need to drink more water - forgot today, but I feel quite positive about myself.

The only thing is that I tend to lose weight every other week, so although I may feel like I have lost weight at the end of this week, it will not show on the scales.

northender · 13/01/2009 20:02

2 good days here. Am doing a new job and there is so little time to eat combined with nowhere to supplement my intake that it's easier to be disciplined. I had everything prepared last night.

No choc, booze or crisps yet!

duckyfuzz · 13/01/2009 20:05

MumHadEnough · 13/01/2009 22:00

Hi Everyone,

Well it sounds like everyone's doing brilliant! . Bellavita I am well impressed with you making those muffins and not eating them!

I am on the Cambridge diet which means I'm not supposed to eat at all other than my shakes, however, I take it all very casually and if I'm really starving I'll have a couple of slices of cold meat or something to save me having a binge.

Have managed not to really do this until tonight. I've only had my 2 shakes today and can't face a third , although I need to have it to have my nutrients. Just had 2 teensy slices of turkey ham and I'll try and have my other shake before bed.

I have a perverse thing when I'm on Cambridge that I love cooking, don't quite understand this myself but am thinking its maybe just to keep myself busy .

One of the salesmen put a huge tin of quality street on my desk today too, I told him where to stick them , nicely of course!

Oh well, day 9 nearly at an end, good luck for tomorrow everyone x

Hi all, I too am just checking in It's funny but knowing we're all in this together makes it a (bit) easier, it's like having someone there to help you out!!

Been out for a pub tea tonight for my mum's birthday. Am following SW so went on a red day. Had rib-eye steak and jacket potato, no pudding then a tiny piece of mum's bday cake which I counted as syns, so I'm feeling soooo pleased with mysalf. Last week it would have been chips, stilton sauce on the steak and a huge pudding, aswell as the bday cake. And probabaly a few biscuits later on aswell

Everyone sounds as though they're doing great, well done one and all

Grublin · 13/01/2009 23:45

I had a weetabix for brekkie, a small portion of shepherds pie at lunch, blown it all tonight on a sausage roll for tea but thats all I've had.
Oh I've done half hr on the treadmill tonight

differentID · 13/01/2009 23:46

done crap.

bellavita · 14/01/2009 00:30

MHE - Have just come in from work and opened the tins to the muffins and chocolate brownies. I have had a smell of them and was very tempted to pick a bit off, but I didn't - phew!

differentID - another day tomorrow, just pick yourself up and dust yourself down

Well done everyone.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 14/01/2009 09:26
