I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Just been to check on my DS, he's not asleep yet (still on Christmas holiday time!) so we had a cuddle. He said "Mummy why are you so big? I don't mean tall, I mean around your tummy."

And I'd been thinking I'd done so well today too! I told him I'd eaten too many chocolates and Pringles over Christmas. He said my tummy was big before, but it's even bigger now - and I shouldn't eat any more chocolate.

Well, that's made me even more determined!

Ambi · 04/01/2009 21:30

Hiya, day2 for me. Its been very successful if you don't count the wine consumed last night, foodwise I've been good and feel good for it too. We had a gorgeous chicken stirfry last night and tonight was smoked haddock with bacon and walnut salad. I still get chocolate cravings in the evening, but I'm prepared with low fat chocolate mousse or hot chocolate if it all gets to much!! I'm aiming to cut down on potatoes and bread as these seem to be my downfalls.

I did the first set of the salsacise DVD which was good, because I wasn't knackered, but could feel my legs and was pretty warm afterwards. I don't expect to have lost any weight this week as my body takes a week to process so next week is when I should feel/ notice a difference although my skin already feels better from all the water I've been drinking.

I'll weigh in tomorrow, I'm aiming for 6lbs a month for 6 months, which is 1-2lbs a week.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

tibni · 04/01/2009 22:55

Hi everyone.

I found when I used food focus it really opened my eyes to what and how much I was eating. Only faff was homemade foods eg veggie lasagne and having to enter every item. Don't know if you noticed but there is a meal setting and it really saves time if you have your standard meals pre entered.

Made it to the gym again and had a really good workout. I am not being very strict re food but the reductions I have made are a stark contrast to what I have been eating eg no chocolate and I am pulling my portion size back down.

Countingtheflocksbynight · 05/01/2009 08:16

tessieb and wintersun - thanks for the kind comments - starting afresh today ....

off to work now - good luck everyone this week

Monday 5th Dec - weighing in at 76.2 kg

target weight - 63 kg

Countingtheflocksbynight · 05/01/2009 08:17

sorry rudely forgot to say 'mornin to Silent Terror, Summerfruit and everyone else

MissisBoot · 05/01/2009 08:33

Morning all

Yesterday went ok despite dh and dd making chocolatey treats - I had one and then resisted going back for more.

I've been using food focus too and love it - its just like weightwatchers on line but calories rather than points.

Stepped on the scales today and am very happy as I've managed to lose 4lb this week just by being careful

Monday 5 Dec - 11st 2lbs
Target - 10 stone

Good luck for today everyone!

mixedmama · 05/01/2009 09:19

Morning all..

Not sure of my weight as my scales are not that clear so will wait till Friday when I weigh in at WW and then post Monday, but I think I am a pound or two over 10 stone.

I am committing to:

Using the stairs at work (4 flights)
30 mins exercise bike every day (am currently one day behind)

Those are my two big changes, but will try to get in some exercise dvd time as well.

Welcome to everyone and hello the everyone else, glad it seems to be going well, Count, please dont worry about the burger you are allowed treats just make sure you get back on it and dont let it demotivate.

Today food wise:

2 crumpets and jam (remarkably not too many ww points)
Sushi for lunch
Tandoori chicken (home made) and salad
Grapes/mandarin and yogurt snacks, with perhaps a cereal bar and coffee I am a snacker.

tessieb · 05/01/2009 09:30

Morning everyone.

Well, my legs are aching after the unaccustomed exercise yesterday! I feel that I've made a good start, just need to keep going. In fact, feel extra determined after DS's comments last night!

countessofmontecristo · 05/01/2009 09:52

Hello everyone.
Hope you are all doing well with the dieting. It's my first official day of diet today, and have had to resist the temptation of DH offering to take me out for cooked breakfast! Stayed in and had Weetabix instead. He said forget the diet until tomorrow, but I've been doing that for months and I am determined that today is the start of the new slimmer me.I'm hoping to hit target weight by June.

Ambi · 05/01/2009 11:57

I'm weighing in: 1lb lost. 35 now to go.

bessiebighead · 05/01/2009 12:11

Was so good yesterday, and come 6pm i fell into a heap with the dreaded lurgy! Then slept with ds till morning (minus the usual wakings). That'll teach me for making fun of manflu!

I picked up the McKenna book/cd and haven't finished it - but it will be quite astounding if it works. In essence tho, I would have to go off the Rosemary Colney diet to work on the McKenna nondiet. So since today is a start day for lots of people, and a weigh in, i'll switch tracks and be a guinea pig for the hypnotherapy route! It seems to be more my way of working anyway, changing thought patterns = behaviours = weight loss.

Hey Tessieb, Davina dvd is great! Will have to do the xmas paraphenalia today also. Awww. Good on you for those aching legs!

That was a great start SilentTerror!

Hello kormaisforlife! My mum is on meds for underactive thyroid and can only take a certain amount as it interferes with other meds. Losing the 7lbs is a huge achievement with that condition. Well done!

Hello Glinda. With that kind of determination, you're bound to make it for good this time. Do you know what triggers you to put the weight back on again? That could really help you this time.

The powerwalking thread looks excellent and a lot of fun too, Countingtheflocksbynight.

Hey undervalued, i'm there at the moment also, so taking small steps to try and build everything up again. Just learning to treat myself as well as i would a good friend.
Have a brill time on Thursday!

No way Wintersun! Dates are tiny, I had loads over xmas.

Hello Summerfruit, could you maybe decanter the amount in water (with lemon or countingtheflock's sassy water or herbal tea) that you would usually drink in wine into a jug and drink from that? It might take the edge of the temptation?

Ambi your diet sounds delicious!

Tibni, i did the same thing for the first couple of days with the food focus site. If you look to the right of the foodlog window it has a 'create meals' option, and you can store any recipes you're likely to repeat in there.

bessiebighead · 05/01/2009 12:11

OK, weigh in... i was around 12 stone, and now, with my dodgy scales i am:

11stone 9

That's very good for me. Though, my scales are super dodgy. I want to get down to 8 stone 7 by Jan 1st 2010.

OP posts:
tessieb · 05/01/2009 12:20

Bessiebighead - we have a similar start weight (except I have 3 lbs on you!) and I am hoping to get down to around 8.5 to 9 stones too. Bet we're about the same height - 5'2?

I've got some new digital scales from Lloyds Pharmacy (£14.99) and they work out my body fat (which is much too high) and BMI (just slightly into the obese range!!!!). My very very old scales tell me I weigh half a stone less, but I don't think they're accurate.

Just making myself some lentil and spinach soup for lunch!

SilentTerror · 05/01/2009 12:56

Hello everyone!
today
Porridge with skimmed milk and small amount of honey
2 cups decaff coffee with skimmed milk
Tuna with spinach, watercress, tomatoes and low fat mayonnaise
4glasses water so far!
No real exercise as yet, except shopping in Tesco and unloading/putting away, plus hoovering and mopping.
Will weigh myself at end of week.

undervalued · 05/01/2009 18:09

Evening everyone! I'm just popping in to weigh in
14stone 6lbs OMG!!! I'm only 5'4! I need to lose 5stone then
I feel like the heaviest and the tallest lol.
Good luck and will weigh in next week.
Am off to put the munckin to bed.x
PS I love the confidence on here.

tessieb · 05/01/2009 18:46

Good evening all! Hope you've had a good day.

Just think how wonderfully slim, fit, healthy and full of energy we'll all be in the summer if we keep this up!

Not done any exercise today (apart from pushing heavy trolley around the supermarket), but I have booked an exercise class at our local leisure centre tomorrow. I want to try to get into the habit of going every week. It's yoga which I love doing but haven't done for absolutely ages!

Summerfruit · 05/01/2009 19:05

Hi everyone !

Day one for me !

Today's weight : 11 st 5
Target weight : 9 st 8

I'm committed not too drink booze every night, not to eat too much cheese, not to eat a whole family chocolate bar in the front of the telly...

Today so far I ate :

Breakie : 2 toasts + 1 yogurth + 1 coffee
Snack : 1 special k bar
Lunch : Brown pasta + peas (and a dash of cheese)
Snack : Another special K bar

For my dinner, I think I'll have gratted carrots, beetroot + ham and fruit.

To motivate myself, I just think that spring is around the corner meaning summer clothes will be out soon, ah dresses, nice shoes and more important self confidence ..

Ambi · 05/01/2009 19:24

undervalued, I was around that weight a couple of years ago, you'll find it the easiest to lose weight and you'll likely lose more at a quicker pace, you're quite lucky!

loubers · 05/01/2009 19:29

Please can I join? I am 11st and 5ft4 so would ideally like to lose 2 stone but would be happy with at least 1 and a half. I went on the cross trainer for 20 mins today and walked/jogged round the field pulled by an ageing spaniel.

Wintersun · 05/01/2009 21:07

Everyone is really keen here! Its great.
It sounds like we all had a good start.
Make sure you all keep it up.
We're not going to be a slackers thread!

No 'ooops, I accidently ate a whole large pizza, 1/2 a kilo of ice cream and a chocolate gateau' on this thread, Right? Right!

So, weighed myself today and am 10stone 10lb.

My goal for the end of the month is 10.3. I'm going to lose 1/2 stone.

Had a good day today. Again, didn't stick entirely to the lbd diet but logged my cals and am under my allowance.
I did a 20min walk. I just didn't get time to do anything else today.

Have we all got a nice item of clothing in the next size down to try on? I find that can be really motivating. I have a pair of jeans that I'm going to keep trying.

Good luck for tomorrow!

tessieb · 05/01/2009 21:17

Wintersun - I've got loads of clothes in my wardrobe that don't fit me, some that I was wearing last year! I bought some lovely summer clothes nearly 2 years ago (I was about 1.5 - 2 stones less then) and I couldn't fit into many of them last summer. So, as I lose weight I'll have lots more to wear.

Half a stone by the end of Jan sounds like a good goal to go for - think I'll aim for the same.

Hi to everyone who has just joined this thread. We are an enthusiastic lot - long may it continue!

Now, how did that happen...

undervalued · 05/01/2009 21:24

Lol at the 'lucky' Ambi - strangely comforting
I have a wardrobe full Wintersun I never accepted I moved from a size 14! Big wake up call for me today.

Will this help?? Sorry if I've missed you out - nothing personal.

Please add your name and weight (if you want) to help motivate and keep track.

Wintersun · 05/01/2009 21:31

That'll be really motivating for the both of you, Undervalued and Tessieb.
Just imagine looking gorgeous in your spring and summer clothes.

What I meant was that you take out one item of nice clothing that you really want to get into and keep trying on that same one, say, every week. Hang it outside your wardrobe as a daily motivating reminder.
