I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

and a stats list is a great idea, Undervalued. It'll look good when there are loads of negative numbers all the way down

have added me!

Food intake for today has been as follows:

Slice of toast with apricot jam
Chicken salad sandwich
Sausage and butterbean casserole (wanted something hearty and warming as its sooo cold out there!)
1 glass of homemade gin and lemonade.

Hope everyone else has managed to resist temptation.

undervalued · 05/01/2009 21:42

well added Missisboot - I just have to work out how to separate the weight from the lost columns!!
That's exactly what I thought wintersun, we all need to see the results of our efforts, especially if you have a 'slow' week, so we can see the bigger picture. Glad you like it!

I'm still laughing at the lucky comment by Ambi - blardy brilliant

Dots look good but I think we need a lost column for the week and a total lost for the cumulative?

Haved for the first time stuck to my ww points exactly today, butt planned it all very carefully. My dads bday tomorrow so not sure i will be so successful.

Have not done my bike today and have 1 other day to catch up, so 30 mins before bed and then 30 mins in the morning.

Have to second the fact that this is a positive thread... so pleased we are all doing so well.. long may it last.

Hello all! I started on New Years Day, I'm going to join Slimming World, though hopefully I'll have lost a bit already- Thursday is the meeting day, so I couldn't weigh in when I started a SW type plan, but decided not to use that as an excuse not to start!

I need to loose 3 1/2 stone. I'm obese at 5'3'' and 12 1/2 stone. I've decided to approach it like when I stopped smoking and tap in to that will power, and compare the cravings, there really is no comparison!

I'm a ceoliac, so I'm at an advantage really because I can't snack on biscuits, so I'm mentally used to not having what I enjoy eating - croissants, sausage rolls (), danish pastries etc.

We're going to Malta on the 3rd April, and I'm going to loose 1 1/2 stone by then!
Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Hi Rachelsara - a holiday is a fantastic incentive (maybe I could do with booking one!).

There are loads of us on this thread now which is great for support and encouragement.

mixedmama · 06/01/2009 08:20

morning all...

am two days behind with bike but day off today so going to sort that out. food plan today:

porridge (a cool little ww recipe add 2 tbsp 0% fat fromage frais and raspberries and it said maple syrup but i added two tsp honey instead). Just thought i would share.

dads birthday so will have kebabs for lunch, but will have chicken shish from the local restaurant and it comes with a small amount of rice.

dinner - have got a healthy tesco ready made roast type thing that i worked out is not too high in points. (have a french class so dh and dc will eat at MIL)

snacks will be fruit mainly today.

yesterday i stuck to my points religiously, so hoping i can do the same today.

Good luck vibes to everyone today.

OK have added my enormous weight to the list!
Yesterday went really well, and I stuck totally to the diet. I watched the 'Paul McKenna 'I can make you thin' programme last night and it was absolutely faascinating. If what he says works, then it would be fantastic. You basically have 4 points to follow which are
Eat what you want
Eat when you're hungry
Eat consciously
Stop when you feel full.

Next episode deals with emotional eating, so I'm going to tune in for that. I have to say that it's a really weird idea that you can eat what you want when you want, but he is adamant it works, and he says when you slow down your eating, concentrate on what you're eating, putting the knife and fork down after each mouthful, your body lets you know when it's full, whereas if you're wolfing the food down and not concentrating on it, you miss the signal your body is giving that you are full, so carry on eating. Interesting stuff.

Hello all!

tessieb · 06/01/2009 12:45

Hi everyone

Just got back from a yoga class at the local leisure centre. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be so will probably ache tomorrow!!! Do feel good now, though.

Hope you manage to use your bike today Bessie - how much are you aiming for each day?

Countessofm - I would have liked to watch Paul McKenna, but can't get that channel. Keep me updated!

Hope you all have a good day. x

mummyloveslucy · 06/01/2009 12:55

Hi everyone, I'not sure how to add myself to your list. I've started my diet today, I'm giving up sugar and cutting down on other fattening food. I also need an exercise DVD. Good luck to everyone. xx

bessiebighead · 06/01/2009 13:09

Marnin all!

Great stats sheet folks!

Big howdy to rachaelsara. When did you discover you were coeliac? That would have been a relief to been diagnosed. I read Gluten free girl a couple of months ago, and it was fantastic as is her blog, though it may not be in line with dieting! But she knows a great deal about alternative grains like quinoa and amaranth.
I got a tip from Elana's pantry, another coeliac foodie site to use Agave nectar/syrup as a sweetener rather than manmade sugar substitute(taste awful and not good for you) or honey (high gi). It's sweeter than sugar; a cross between honey and maple syrup in taste, and doesn't give you a sugar spike.

Glad you caught the McKenna proramme Countess. I'm on day two using his book/cd along with the food focus tracker and it hasn't done any harm yet! I've found his suggestion to reset your appetite levels useful, as over the years, i've ignored my body telling me when i've eaten enough and have found it hard to tell when i'm satisfied. So he reccommends a scale of 1 -10 with 1 being physically faint and 10 being bloated to the point of nausea. He advises to recall several times in a row, the feelings of 1 and 10, and it resets your senses. Then to check where you think you are on the scale each hour. At the very least, it has me more mindful of how much i'm eating.
I find the slow and pleasurable eating much harder, as i want to eat my food as quickly as i can before ds wakes up/needs my attention. But i'm working on it.

I started this post in the morning, i'm sure there must be more posts now...but must needs go.

Oh and the sassy water tastes brilliant! Countingtheflocksbynight Really zingy!

Ah, there are more posts

Hey Tessieb - doesn't that stretching feel great! You've got me wanting to do some more now! I won't be biking though, as i do have a rusting bike at my mil's. But tyres are in a very sad state. Will fix in the spring though.

Afternoon everyone

Today is going reasonably well although I have huge cravings for crisps - I think its because I'm cold.

Lunch is ham sandwich and fruit
Dinner is as yet undecided - I really want something hearty.

Still haven't made it to the gym - I will definitely go on Monday.

tessieb · 06/01/2009 13:29

Hi everyone - I've just started a new thread about stopping drinking diet coke as I drink far too much. Well, if I'm trying to lose weight, get fit, I may as well cut out the junk (although low-cal) too. Also think it should make me less bloated and give me a slightly trimmer waistline!

Do any of you drink diet coke too? If so, have a look at the other thread.

countessofmontecristo · 06/01/2009 13:53

tessieb I don't tend to drink much diet coke. I drink lots of tea, and wine is my downfall, so I'm really cutting back on that. Wine lowers my willpower to not raid the fridge so it's best I avoid it, and keep the willpower intact.

tessieb · 06/01/2009 13:57

I love a glass of wine too.....

MissisBoot · 06/01/2009 14:34

I don't really drink fizzy drinks but am a massive tea drinker too. Am trying to cut out alcohol for the next few weeks although failed on that last night.
